The hurdle is not at arriving at your destination which happens to be ones own country, but leaving the foreign country one is presently at. Because before you do, south african immigration will have to clear and certify you for not over-staying your previous visa (overstaying means you have to pay for the excess you've stayed before you can leave the country). So yes, there is a hurdle because they will have to either pay for the excess they've stayed or possibility of even being jailed is there.
Again, this is where our embassy can step in and issue T.C to Nigerians who dont have valid passport and/ot claim they lost their passport, hence they couldnt come forward to extend their visa. The T.C enable them smooth passage through airport immigration.

But the article isn't making any mention of people overstaying their visa.
The article only indicates the fact that the setback is due to expired passports. And having an expired passport doesn't mean the person has an illegal status in the country they live in.
All over the world, people fly back to their home countries with expired passports.
An expired passport is still a proof of citizenship.

Unless u have a strong conviction on going to Europe.. mayb a dream or a vision guiding u.. asides that Abeg no go where u no know anybody... With the recent Xenophobic attacks and all that sh*t. Any Nigerian based in SA should consider moving to another country (but not Nigeria).

Here are some good African countries Nigerians can immigrate to:

1. Tunisia

2. Uganda

3. Zambia

4. Seychelles

5. Mauritius

6. Ethiopia

7. Rwanda.

In my opinion, South Africans have taken this issue too far. Burning Nigerians alive based on Xenophobia factor is not a good criteria for a sane society.

I asked the first question because u wrote "we outsiders". The way other countries see Nigerians is different from the way we see ourselves . You know Nigerians have many tribes? You could be right in terms of unification but with my own believe, the unification is found most in the northern part of the country compare to Western part of the country.


Secondly, if u live in USA especially immigrants places like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago etc u will the unification of Mexicans, Indians, Philippians compare to Nigerians abroad

You indicate that the way other countries perceive Nigerians isn't the way Nigerians perceive themselves.

Likewise, I would say the way you perceive those Philippinos, Mexicans and Indians may not be the way they perceive themselves.

I could go on and elaborate how I have witnessed Nigerians standing up for themselves and others Africans. It is just amazing.

I am Congolese. I know a very powerful yoruba lady in the city where I live. London, Ontario , to be precised.
Our sons are classmates in French as a primary language school. And that is how we become acquainted.
The lady and her husband have been living in London for more than 30 years.
I asked her once why she has a white maid instead of hiring a Nigerian as a maid. Her answer was "Too much juju".

This is the misconception.
Do you know that we, outsiders, perceive Nigerians as people who stand up for one another. Nigerians also stand up for other black.
I could have gone on and one to elaborate.
It is only on Nairaland that I have read that Nigerians are divided. At least my experience with Nigerians have been outstanding.
Maybe if you get involved with those communities outlined in your post( indian, arabs, Asian) , you will soon discover that they are not as United as you may think.
As the say goes, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

If I had done that, I would have ended up a bitter single parent. I am happy today that I was not deceived . Till today, he isn't married ooo. Some men are not just ready to get married but go about deceiving women

If it happens to your sister or anybody close to you, give them the necessary support to pick the pieces of their lives. Help them become somebody in life, at least to be able to train the child and fulfil her life ambition

I still fail to see how anyone can be a second class citizen in a country like the US or Canada unless the person is illegal. Been in the middle or lower economic class doesn't make someone a second class citizen in those countries.

Hey girl, it has been a long time.

From watching Nollywood movies, I have observed some Nigerian citizens have the "power" to put their fellow Nigerians under arrest. I always laugh whenever I see that.

In Canada not even the prime minister can have such power to tell a police officer "Police, arrest me that man".

Given this fact, one can clearly see the class differences in Nigeria. Whereas in Canada classes aren't that obvious. Everyone have the same rights and responsibilities in Canada.

Not every man adapts easy in the new country. In his country he is a respected professional, the boss at work and at home. In the new country he is nobody, no network, no close friends and contacts , maybe he starts from a low job, some PHD holders are driving taxi or making burgers. It affects many immigrants, specially men. The man needs his own success and I mean not only money and cars, house, also certain position in the society and being respected. More easy to immigrate for a simple man who is nobody in his own country. Men with good position in the homeland, get depressed if the things don't work so fast for to establish well.

The best you can do it's to progress in your own country and to live around your own people and your culture. You go to Canada or any other country, the life is more comfortable, environment is cleaner, better roads, etc. Jobs? You will need to start from simple jobs and to see how it works, if you are hardworking and well educated, very skilled, you may have a good career in Canada yet it takes time and you will be always an immigrant, a foreigner, even if you adapt well, you will always miss your homeland.
... if you plan is to have kids and to give them better future, go to Canada but chose well the mother of your future kids and remember, your kids growing up in Canada will be more Canadians than Nigerians.

As a man, I personally would prefer to be successful in my own country than to be a 2nd class citizen (new immigrant) in any developed country .

As far as I know, some Nigerians are treated as 2nd, 3rd and even 4th class in Nigeria.

It's not as if the Congo that they beat via penalty shoot out have been fantastic in this tournament. Congo qualified as a 3rd placed team , so Madagascar realistically had a chance against them.
