KingTom: After reading this, I have seen the error of my ways. He was absolutely right to explain why he honored the invitation of the President of his country. I tender my unreserved apologies to all involved and I hope I can be forgiven 🙏
LordAdam16: This should not be normal. Not if we have any desire to become a high-income country.
This is sabotage. No ifs, ands, or buts.
-Lord
Going by the dictionary definition of sabotage, it's not...it's good old thievery.
verb deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct (something), especially for political or military advantage. "power lines from South Africa were sabotaged by rebel forces"
noun the action of sabotaging something. "a coordinated campaign of sabotage"
This is normal fraud that happens in almost companies. Bankers divert bank funds and withdraw customers fund illegally, drivers of trucks of manufacturing firms run off with truckload of goods, site managers sell off construction materials, etc.
These are typical business risks which most businessmen men already put in measures to manage. I'm sure Dangote has fidelity guarantee insurance that will reimburse him for whatever amount out of the 4 billion naira they are unable to reviver from the culprit after prosecution. It's one of the requirements his lenders would have him provide before they advance him credit for the construction and operation of the refinery.
That's not "another case of sabotage" , it's just defalcating employees trying to defraud their employer and getting caught.
KingTom: Tunde don drop epistle this morning dey explain himself to people wey no send am. I really pity people wey dey seek social media validation
The fact that Tunde understands why explaining his position to people that have been a part of his Chess in Slums project, through retweets, likes, and donations is why he's been able to garner as much goodwill as he has over the years.
The job he does is a sensitive one, and the flack he's facing isn't exactly peculiar...NGOs around the world deal with these sort of accusations every now and again (the USAID blanket cancellation is case in point). The reputation of an NGO is the fuel with which it runs, and the smart thing was to explain his position, some persons would see reasons and continue to support, some won't and it's okay too...the most important thing is he's doing the job that's needed to help him keep touching the lives of the kids.
This is probably the first major backlash that Tunde's organization has had to deal with, so it's not like he'd be needing to explain himself every eke market day, and even if that's the case, it's part of job description...reputation management. It's good he understood that his personal feelings should not come before the work he does, and the lives he's imparting.
BlueRayDick: Majority do actually because most private schools have a policy of not allowing students whose parents owe to write exams.
Only few private schools allow students enjoy quality tuition and defer payment. Such schools are owned by the church members or relatives ; apart from that most private school owners are very strict with collection of fees as at when due
What has really helped them is insisting on collecting fees first week of resumption...unlike before when they'd wait for 4th week and parents will use abeg to have their kids partake in mid-term test, and before you know end of term exam is at the corner and they're still dragging fees.
My daughter's school didn't bother giving the entry permit they issue second week...for them to have done that, collection must have been real good.
FROM PATRIOTS TO PARANOIDS: The Obidient Cult Of Hate’s Obsession with Bribe Fantasies
There was a time when some of us stood shoulder to shoulder with the Obidient Movement — not for clout, and certainly not for expectation of money — but because we genuinely believed Peter Obi represented a break from the old, rotten political order.
We spent our own time, our own resources, and our platforms to join millions of others to push this man into the national consciousness. In my case, it was millions of naira poured into campaign materials, T-shirts, town halls, and social mobilization across 22 states where Naija Lives Matter had directors appointed. I was not a politician. I did not contest for anything. No one paid me and I did not ask anyone to pay me a dime. I didn’t collect a kobo from Labour Party or Peter Obi — and never asked for one. I did it because I believed.
In fact I even attended a $1,000 and $5,000 dinner fund raiser for peter obi in Los Angeles. I travelled at my own cost, spent 2 days there and paid for the dinner too, because I believed in that man as a way forward. No jobless Obidient now accusing me of being paid by Tinubu asked me if Peter Obi had paid me to do all that .
Now fast forward to 2025.
Because I decided to leave what has now become the cult-like chorus of irrational tribal rants, and because some of us choose to see Nigeria through the lens of national interest instead of destructive opposition, or blind ethnic loyalty like many Obidients La now do, suddenly we’ve “been paid by the government”? Suddenly we are “traitors” or “sellouts”? What kind of hate-filled deranged logic is that?
Let me be clear: many of you who call yourselves leaders in this Obidient movement (and I concede there are still some good and decent people left that I respect a lot) have become paranoid, hate-filled imbeciles — unable to comprehend that someone can disagree with you on principle, not price.
When we stood with Peter Obi, even against all advise, his opponents didn’t like it, but at least the APC OR PDP didn’t invent imaginary bribe alerts to explain our convictions. They only disputed with us and dragged us on issues .
Today, becos we won’t chant your hate-filled tribal war songs, we must have been “settled”? It’s shallow thinking. It’s tragic — and frankly disgusting.
And while I still respect the very few cerebral Obidients who continue to engage this govt constructively, intelligently, and without bigotry, the rest of you have turned the movement into a toxic echo chamber of ethnic angst and unhinged accusations.
You’re not building a better Nigeria with your hate-filled bigotry. You’re building a shrine around a man — and crucifying anyone who refuses to worship at that shrine .
So let me be clear: I am not for sale and will never be. I was not paid to support Peter Obi, and I certainly don’t need to be paid to criticize him or his cultish followers now.
Some of us will continue to speak the truth, whether it aligns with your dogma or not. If you can’t handle principled dissent, that’s your personal hell — not ours.
So next time you imagine someone collected money just because they disagreed with your messiah complex, remember this: your ignorance is louder than your integrity and your default to abuse and hate speech only magnifies what we all now know about most of you: you are driven by hatred and tribalism and not by nationalistic fervor
You were accused of this 2 years ago and I dissented refusing to see most of you for what you really are because we were all desperate for good leadership in our nation after the buhari fiasco
And now that some of you have constituted yourselves as menace to society we will keep calling you out no matter the amount of bile you pour on me. Many of you do not want a progressive nigeria . You want to destroy nigeria but God won’t allow it.
- Dr. Ope Banwo
Ope Banwo is a jester... anybody that has followed him from his scammy days on Clubhouse would know this is totally on brand for him.
liveLongNprospa: Na why the whole write up make me laugh. People dey drag tunde for going some people dey defend am.
I just dey support both sides of the argument 😁
The pile on is needless TBH...even USA and many first world countries go get kids wey Tunde Chess in Slums concept would give a different trajectory in life...we need dey pick our battles proper and see things for what they truly are.
It's sha been funny seeing lovers of Nigeria saying the office of the president should be respected...let it be someone that isn't their fave there and tory go change.
Hmmm...in truth, Tinubu's government has been a bad one for families looking to keep their children in school, even those in schools, their education has faced one mishap after another.
seankafor: i wan enter portugal first, then i go from there enter russia to go serve my lord and master putin
You have an opportunity to go straight to your destination and you're looking for what's not lost. Is there anything in the Portugal you want to branch that you won't see more than enough in Mother Russia?
Seems you're not really serious about this Russia thing you've been talking about...first get your stability in Russia, then you can visit other places for fun.
Ibime: Enter plane wey dey this condition first make we see how you sef go handle am
At least he is praying a violent prayer and challenging God to prove his worth rather than screaming
I've endured 6 hours major turbulence during that Hurricane Maria in 2017. My plane was the only plane flying from airport that day, all other flights were cancelled, the hurricane was in force and the wind was strong yet they decided to fly. Already I'm worried that why are we the only ones flying today when all other flights are cancelled. Pilot come announce say there was problem with the engine hence there was delay, I want die. The turbulence for that flight be like plane wey turn to flying boat for 6 hours straight, I'm surprised I didn't have heart attack. I'm a poor flyer at the best of times and need at least 250ml of whisky before I enter plane, at least let me die high.
From a certified hardman like WIke, that was in poor taste.
Having your heart in your mouth is one thing, but screaming like Wike was is another (hopefully that wasn't the same in your case)...plus the mismatch between how he postures in real-life, and what he showed in that "private" moment was funny to note.
BlueRayDick: You sure say the voice no be Ai clone ?
Person wey dey throw dynamite for the house of people wey oppose am while he was governor , see the way he Dey shout “Jehovah u can do it “ on top small turbulence 😂😂😂
The person that recorded the voice inside the cockpit no get joy at all
It's not looking like it's AI o
The comments under the original post are pretty crazy
Amigoss: Lmao, this is quite funny....I no go ever believe a whole Wike go dey fear death like this
Our elites are very complicated people...see the way e dey pray like one conc Christian, you no go believe say na the same person wey dey behave like demon for real life.
Last las most of these our elites na okrika standard.
I didn’t know that the man who claims that he fears no one can shake like a leaf, when death stares him in the face… Hmmmm. When you listen to the recording, the voice is identifiable. No need for me to name him… pic.twitter.com/J2MZdWpfVJ
Kimbeast: According to experts bathing daily has no health benefits. Twice a week is good enough.
It's part of grooming...there are no health benefits to going out in ironed clothes, combing your hair, or smelling nice, but we do them eitherway. Anything less than bathing twice a day, especially if you go out borders on poor hygiene.
diggz: No vex—but I already mentioned earlier that you’re a far better human being than I am nah, so it’s amusing that you still feel the need to keep gloating.
Life—and conflict in general—comes with wins and losses. I don’t understand why you’re acting like you’ve just uncovered some profound truth I’m unaware of. Anyway, thanks for the advice, as if the situation I referenced didn’t happen 14 years ago.
What’s even more amusing is how you conveniently ignored a much more recent incident from last year, which I mentioned in one of the posts you quoted. Just like you’ve conveniently avoided responding or sharing your so-called knowledge on how to handle clear, scenario-based situations that require you to take a position—choosing instead to vaguely suggest “there are other ways” without offering anything concrete.
But don’t worry—if it ever comes down to it again, I won’t be the one handling it.
Still, it’s oddly comforting to know that people like you—who clearly have zero fight in them—still exist. 😂
It's not about being a better human being or not per se...there are people like you at the extreme of one end that'd always stand your ground in every situation, and others who progressively are less physically confrontational, all the way to being Monks or absolute pacifists. Our respective natures with their benefits and drawbacks, so while I'm more likely to get chanced by the Danfo Driver, you're more likely to get your jaw shifted.
I've not said I'm an absolute pacificst, but you seem to have an issue understanding that your response to those Danfo Driver situations is not the average response, and likely tends towards the extreme of responses and there are people that would never find themselves in those situations, and it doesn't make their approach always inferior to yours.
Our dearly beloved Seun can be a hard-nosed prick, but I'm willing to bet you won't see him involved in any sort of physical violence, no matter the situation...Bill Gates didn't build Microsoft by being a pushover, but I can bet he's of a mellow personality and you won't see him pin Danfo driver to the floor to administer punches. An Elon Musk might however have no issues trading punches if it came to it...different persons, all highly functioning, but with different approaches to physical altercations.
diggz: Bro, I’m guessing you were already working your bank job when this happened. Also, you need to understand that once someone takes money from you by force in a school setting, you’ve automatically become their personal ATM.
I love peace—but the moment you put your hand in my eye, that’s when you and I will wear the same pair of trousers.
You need to understand that it's in your nature to fight, hence you'd handle things in this manner.
For some other persons, it's not in their nature to engage in physical violence and that thing you see as hand inside your eyes is something to laugh over or shrug off...and that fight you'd willingly partake in, they'd find any and every means to avoid it.
diggz: Why not start by naming the other options you think could’ve been used to handle the situation?
There’s a reason Blueray immediately begged the woman—someone who clearly couldn’t physically fight him. It was to deescalate the situation. You can’t drive recklessly, hurl insults at someone, damage their property, and then continue insulting them without making any effort to calm things down—and still expect to walk away freely.
By the way, I don’t understand why you’re trying to change the narrative of my story. Do you even know Ilupeju Road that leads to Onipanu Junction? Or the streets I mentioned in Gbagada? If you did, there’s no way you’d be creating a different version of events.
Your only options are: stay in your lane and get your car damaged, end up in a gutter, or hit someone on the side. But somehow you want to give “Danfo” drivers room—how exactly?
You be saint obi?
I was not party to the sitution you described, maybe giving the danfo driver a bloody nose was the only option you had...maybe not, but I can bet that didn't fix your car, and if you had met your match or better, I'm sure your car wouldn't have been the only thing that got bashed...keep on fighting danfo drivers with little to lose, can never be me though .
izzou: So you did not understand when I was saying Nigerians generally have a default verdict when it comes to expensive cars?
I now agree that you obviously drive in a high brow estate.
One thing I know in Lagos is if you are wrong, a danfo driver will never let you go for free.
It's a pity we didn't know what exactly happened. Not that I support smashing of screens, but for Danfo.... ?
You're a Nigerian, what is your default verdict when you witness accidents involving expensive cars?
Oke-Ira isn't highbrow
It's possible Pastor Paul was at fault, it's possible the danfo driver was at fault, but the only thing we know for sure is that those that were at the scene of what happened said Pastor Paul was at fault, and Pastor Paul's PA stayed back to pacify them.
Pastor Paul isn't the regular road user, he's a celebrity and a pastor...if those factors aren't enough to calm him down and not have him behave like a regular road user, odds are he might have an anger problem, and I won't blame anyone coming to that conclusion, especially when you factor his more recent situation.
Plus smashing danfo driver bus parts isn't standard behavior for private vehicle owners, even among us here odds are it's only a minority that'd have exchanged blows with danfo drivers, or have had need to smash their vehicle in rage.
raumdeuter: I am normally a pacifist and run away from trouble
E get one Ileya like that for Naija about 20yrs ago. Tkb and I dey beer parlor na so some boys start confra bragging which quickly escalated to fight, bust bottle. Etc
Na me first run out reach the bus stop. Na when I dey bus stop I see say dem don order backup coming on bikes
Later that night when tkb saw me he just dey laugh me cos he sat there through the melee and say why will anyone come near am when dem no dey mad
Me I don flee from every appearance of madness but I can understand those who stand their ground
I think the point that was being made wasn't even about standing ground, it was more...since it's near certain you can't get financial compensation from Danfo driver, you should start fighting with them, or beat them if you can.
If you meet a Danfo driver that leaves you no choice but to fight, of course you'd fight, but reality is that you're most likely going to have other options to handling the situation.
Situation wey you and Danfo dey drag space for road and you notice the guy no wan back down, best thing na to give them space, cause those guys no really care if their car bash. I sure say Diggz go be one of those wey no dey wan gree for Danfo because e know say if e come down to am e go bloodly their nose
raumdeuter: While he's dishing slaps and insults to you all the way.
Even a sheep would defend themselves in that sort of situation, that one is instinctive, but that's not the point that was originally made...this situation is more extreme.
raumdeuter: In your scenario I will give him cos I know he is spoiling for a fight and he get wetin dey back him up
Its like you sitting and some skinny boy just come slap you, you know say he get bigger plans
For example Fryo wey dem accuse of killing Bola Ige don obtain me before. My risk management Don tell me say dragging with him wont end well, even if you succeed in stopping him that day, for the rest of the semester you no go settle for that school
I think the assumption people have been moving with is their opps would be someone they can overpower...what if that's not the case, or they're your match?
raumdeuter: What will be an appropriate response to a Danfo driver who saw the dangers, you repeatedly warned but insulted you, then go ahead to cause the damage which will cost your time, your money
I neva do that final dragging with Danfo wey I go empty e bus drag am reach mechanic shop before (sounds like a lot), but if the damage is something I can manage, I'd just take my loss and keep it moving.
I'm not saying I can't ruff it up with someone if it comes to it, but that'd likely be after I've exhausted other options. E even get how you fit rough am up with person without it having to get to where you're exchanging blows.
izzou: True. But we made assumptions about the student because we knew what happened.
I cannot see someone slapping another man at the bus stop and say he has anger issues. What if he was trying to steal my iPhone that I sold my land to buy?
I was addressing your point on us not making conclusions based off a single moment of outburst, if it's okay to make conclusions based off the girls single outburst, we can do same for Pastor Paul...especially since we know his phone was not being stolen
BlueRay suggested Pastor Paul might have an anger problem based on two separate incidences involving the man, and if you need a refresher on what happened the first time he smashed the drivers glass, here's a YouTube link...you'd even see the passengers in the Danfo saying Pastor Paul, and not their driver was the one at fault.
KingTom: Bros leave talk for VDM, if Danfo bash your car and holds your shirt while landing slaps on your right cheek, will you form Jesus and turn the other cheek so they can slap it more or will you say 'excuse me Mr. Danfo Driver, I'd like to us to engage in a civil convo please let go of my shirt'
🎤
If the only option I have is to fight back, of course I'd exercise that option, but chances are I'd have explored other options before I resort to that...and there's no guarantee that I'd engage in that fight and not have my head bashed alongside my car
There are persons that have driven in this same Lagos for several years and haven't had the need to start exchanging blows or beating to pulp Danfo drivers.
izzou: Your point is made on just a single moment of outburst. That's not how life works.
Jesus entered temple and didn't even tell the sellers and buyers to leave. E carry Koboko begin wipe everybody. He obviously has anger issues then.
You cannot say someone has anger issues because you saw him slapping a Danfo driver. Have you known him for the past 40 or 50 years, to come to that conclusion?
There are many persons we've seen single outbursts from that we've made conclusions about their personalities off it, the Unizik abi UNN girl is a recent example...Pastor Paul have had two of these sort of situations, it's not out of place to make assumptions on his personality based off those situations.
izzou: There's a limit to which you can endure, and then you burst out. I might see your reaction that day, and conclude that you are a very bad tempered man
The issue which led to that must first be looked into.
If my child beats up a kid at school, I'll first ask him what happened, rather than assuming he could be bad tempered.
On these streets of Lagos, the privileged ones are already labeled the cause of all incidents. I can hit you with my car, and it isn't my fault.
Hit an Okada man, and all his compatriots will surround you and bully you to go and treat him. If he hits you too, the same thing
What let to your outburst, matters to me first. That way, I can now assume if you overreacted or not.
True this, and it can be an issue managing people that are of that fight-fight nature, cause instead of you seeing what happened...you'd be more focused on their reaction to what happened.
My younger bros get that fighting personality, and we dey always get issue on the issue of why fight, and what caused me to fight
