I remember about 15 years ago when I went to Sheraton hotel in Lagos, it had the most beautiful lounge I had seen in a hotel... When I went to Vegas, my mind was blown!
My wife n I decided to have a 5-star experience through the wedding weekend, the money spent was worth it.
The gold theme was lovely. Everywhere for Delano na gold o.

We're still working on our PhD here. When I am done, I hope to fully experience the American dream like you're doing now.
Enjoy, bro! It's your time.

Isn't it illegal to file using the form 1040 as an F1 student visa holder?
As an F1 student who hasn't passed the substantial presence test (non-resident alien), it is not right to file your tax with the form 1040. Instead, form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ is the right form for that purpose.

Yes if you’re a graduate assistant and you filed your tax returns already
International students who received the stimulus check must have filed their taxes using the form 1040 (this form is meant for resident aliens and citizens). If you haven't passed the substantial presence test as an international student, the correct form for filing your taxes is the form 1040-NR (this is meant for non-resident aliens).

I Wish we were stocked on the Right like we are on the left. One more strong attacking full back is needed. I am not to sure of the Cedric guy. Also. Arsenal needs one more senior forward who is tall and strong like Tammy Abraham. So many crosses we are not converting.
Someone like Haaland, not Abraham!

Sure, it will be waived once you're accepted! You can take my word for it! If you're still in doubt, I will send you the $50 if it's not waived.

Got some pictures I can't paste due to the visible plates.
I think you can use your Google photo app to achieve that.

If one has full funding that covers health and other stuff, do one need to provide SOA? Nawa o. ... poor man pikin nor just get hope for this country at all
The answer to your concern has been belabored over and over again on this thread. You don't need an SOA if you're fully funded!

The length of a US non immigrant visa is based on a reciprocal agreement with that country. The standard US visa duration for Nigerians is 2 years, because that is the duration we give to Americans applying for a Nigerian visa. It doesn’t really matter though... how long you can stay in the country is dictated by your I-94, which for a PhD student, should read D/S.
You are absolutely right!

She's going for a PhD program but was given 2 years
I have not seen any Nigerian PhD. student given a Visa valid for more than 2 years. So, I think that is the norm for Nigerians. However, my friends from Ghana pursuing their PhDs have their Visas valid for four years.
And yes, your sister should get a one way ticket.

Long post alert.
I have been waiting a long while for this.
I wrote my first GRE 2014 (313), first toefl 2015(106).
First set of application was 2016, 3 schools ( university of Arkansas, West Virginia University and Wayne state university) 2 rejects and 1 admit.
Rewrote GRE 2016 (320) and applied to 3 schools again. I had 1 admit again. I went to the Embassy Aug 2017 and I was denied based on insufficient funds in the Statement of account.
Started application late 2018 again, rewrote TOEFl (100) again as the first one had expired. Applied to three schools again.
Course: Industrial Engineering
Schools: west Virginia University, Texas A and M university and University of new haven.
And finally I got admit in all three schools, got some sort of funding from all. I went with wvu and I finally got the visa.
Basically just saying that our dreams are valid and we should never give up on them. It will end in a win.
Will drop my transcript soon
It's been a long time coming.

Or perhaps, if you're in Ondo and you are a chess player, we could meet up.
I used to be in Akure.

Thank you very much for your email of interest in my work and our departmental PhD. I reviewed your materials with interest of my own – you have a wealth of related training and experience! Your work with undernutrition in young children is truly important, needed research.
Unfortunately, I presently have no open positions and am not accepting any doctoral students at this time. I wish you success in your academic endeavors.
This is the mail I got from my POI, I want to ask if it's ok for me to ask her to recommend another POI for me.
For sure, it is Okay!

Don't mistake full funding with full ride.
We have the one that takes care of hostel, books and every single expense.
MTSU offered partial GA which covers only the in-state tuition
Full GA covers in and out of state tuition.
And monthly stipends takes care of the rest living expenses. But because Tennessee has higher cost of living , the stipends is not sufficient.
NIU is different . They offer stipends high enough to cover the cost of living and DeKalb has a low cost of living compared to Tennessee.
So there are lots of intricacies you must consider.
Full Funding must not have zero deficits.
| Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by TheGrandChemist(m): 8:33pm On Jun 15, 2019 |
Don't get it misconstrued!
Full Funding might come with defictits.
Some as high as 12k.
By now you're supposed to know if you have deficits to know if you should and how much needs to be reflected on the closing balance of your SOA.
I find it funny when people say they secured full funding yet, they still have some deficit.
Full funding is when you've got a full tuition scholarship and a generous stipend to cater for your living expenses, such that there is no deficit; in this case, you don't need a bank statement. That is what I regard as full funding.

Massive work still needs to be done on this Arsenal squad. I looked at that team yesterday and honestly I saw only 6 players good enough to remain in Arsenal if truly they have any strong ambitions of challenging for anything: Aubameyang, Lacazette, Torreira, Guendouzi, Sokratis and Koscielny. The rest are the reason why Arsenal won't win anything major in the next five years.
I think Aubameyang is not good enough for Arsenal fc. You don't need to agree with me.

Hmmmmmm. Where will I start from? God was really involved in my admission process and visa.
I was initially denied by the school I picked (University of Missouri, Columbia). I wrote to the graduate coordinator and asked why I was denied they said my overall Gp was low, so I told them that on the school site it was said that the Gp would be based on the last two years. They said they would review my application again, and behold I was accepted.
The interview(Tuesday Lagos 7.45)
After My thumbprinting I turned to my left to wait for where to be directed to by the CGI because 5 windows were open. As I turned to wait for the CGI a female VO (Young lady, she was quite beautiful she should be in her mid twenties) directly opposite me just gestured with her hand that I should come forward, I was still arranging the other documents from my thumbprinting.
V.O: before I arrive pass me your I-20 ( I guess she saw the Ups envelope with me so she knew I was a student)
ME: okay am coming(while looking for it, she requested my passport since it was in my hand)
VO: Where are you going to (She started typing, I didn't hear her properly)
ME: I didn't get you ma (I moved my ear closer to the glass cos she was speaking Very fast)
VO: She repeated the question
ME: University of Missouri Columbia
VO: What are you going to study?
ME: Mechanical Engineering, sorry Master Mechanical Engineering (I handed her my I-20)(My program was actually Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering but only M.E was written on my I-20)
VO: what have you been doing
ME: I finished my Bsc August 2017, went for my service January to Dec 2018 (cuts in)
VO: How many schools did you apply to?
ME: 5 Schools
VO: Mention them
ME: California State University
VO: She muttered something
ME: ehn, come again ma, ( I put my ear closer to the window)
VO: which of the CSU
ME: oh the one at Fullerton, CSUF
VO: were you admitted?
ME: Yes, am with the admission letter should I bring it out?
VO:No, continue... (as I was mentioning them she was asking and typing)
ME: Southern Illinois University Carbondale(Admit), Missouri(Admit), University of Idaho (Reject), Mississippi State University (Reject)
VO: Did you write any Standardised Test?
ME: Yes (GRE, 303 and IELTS 7.5)
VO: why didn't they give you scholarship, Missouri is a Big school and the test scores are okay
ME: I contacted my supervisor for RA but he said he had no space at this time
VO: I know what an assistantships is, am asking about scholarship, why didn't they give you scholarship with these your test scores? (She was speaking affirmative and authoritatively)
ME: (I didn't reply I was just looking, I didn't know what to say again)
VO: where are your parents?
VO: have you been to the US before
ME: no ma. , I have not had a reason to go
VO: they should have given you at least a scholarship (I was just looking)
VO: what will do after your studies
ME: I will come back to Nigeria and work with an Energy firm
VO: who is your sponsor
VO: What does he do?
ME: he is into clearing and forwarding
VO: do you have any financial document
ME: Yes ma (As I was bringing the one page treasury bill paper out, she said no no no)
VO: I need bank statements, about 5 to 6 pages
ME: it's a Nigerian treasury Bill ma of 70M
VO: I need bank statement (She was raising her voice now)
ME: My uncle deposited it last year November so that it would have generated an interest of (V.O cuts in angrily)
VO: shut up!, I said shut up! I need bank statement (She was now typing very fast)
I was just looking on my own speechless( My mind was like he done happen lemme be packing my documents)
VO: (she muttered something but I didn't listen I was just packing and arranging my document inside my file)
She gave me my passport and a white paper while she circled the second part of additional document required
ME: I don't understand ma( I was expecting a blue paper or yellow paper)
VO: Listen, I was talking and you were not listening, listen, listen ( She was speaking like a Boss and somehow angry)
ME: am sorry ma (I dropped my documents and drew closer to the window fixing my gaze on her)
VO: Take this white paper with you and drop it with your passport at the DHL drop off point. You are to include a bank statement or liquid funds that shows $36,783. Liquid funds pls.
ME: Okay ma(I continued putting my documents in my Ups envelope they were spread/scattered on the tile b4)
VO: Please leave this place, go and arrange your file outside, there is a table outside pls( Authoritative and harsh yet somehow polite)
Immediately I called my uncle and explained what happened, he told me come immediately, went to the bank and Got his two fixed deposits of 10M and 15M plus his bank statement balance of 1.4M my fee requirement was 13.5M.
I called time2win and asked him if fixed deposit was a liquid fund because the Bank Manager said the F.D was Open Market, I said yes that F.D was accepted but he wasn't too sure if it was a liquid fund. I used it like that anyways submitting the documents the same day.
I was placed on A.P when I checked my status on Tuesday. This afternoon my status changed to ISSUED!
Na God do am oh.
Help me shout 7 hallaluyah to the Most High God!!!
Are they this angry at the embassy now?
The words in italics really got me laughing. Sorry, I couldn't help it.
