Nope, the entrepreneur is digging for gold alone and the hawks and vultures are waiting to collect their share. No support, no contribution, nothing. Just to collect their share and milk him dry.

FIFA says a "financial issue" with Nigeria has
been resolved and the team will fly to the Confederations Cup in Brazil
after an earlier threat not to travel.
FIFA says Nigeria will arrive later than scheduled for the eight-nation
tournament, landing in Brazil on Friday or Saturday. The team's first
game is on Monday in Belo Horizonte.
The Nigerian players threatened to go on strike because of a
disagreement about bonus payments for the tournament

snowblack: And who's fault is it that NFF lacks slush funds? Is not all due to their incompetence to run the organization properly?

gistinz.com
Nope! Incompetence is like 30%. The truth of the matter is, Nigerian sponsors do not have or are not ready to commit such funds yet. Remember what happened to viewership rights during the last AFCON where Nigeria stations had to boycott it? They couldnt meet up because the sponsors could not or did not want to afford it
SportsRe: Super Eagles Threaten To Boycott Confederations Cup Over Bonus by thelastPope(m): 7:56pm On Jun 13, 2013
I support the boys to demand for payment up to the point where they openly embarrass the NFF but not to the point where they boycott a tournament. Playing for ones country is an act of national pride, not a business venture!

You and your ilks have tagged all these Muslims in the North as Islamic terrorists. These Muslim youths have been victims of violent acts being perpetrated by Boko Haramists. I can see the plank in your eyes has finally been removed and you can now see clearly and give kudos to these kids. Recently, you also started your religious war in the South with Governor Aregbe running an "Islamist governemnt".

In the past, you have berated many Muslims on this forum as being terrorists .

Rossikk: All this is IRRELEVANT. An agreement is an agreement. What you fail to understand is that once there is a breach in an agreement, it creates bad blood. It creates discontent. It creates negative energy which will permeate to the core of that interraction. The energy meant to be used in executing the contact is dissipitated as negative energy owing to the breach. So the ONLY resolution to THIS debacle is for the NFF to FULFILL THEIR SIDE OF THE AGREEMENT.

After that, then you can start discussing the right and wrong of future agreements and monies paid etc.
It doesnt work that way! The NFF is an independent body that gets some fund from FIFA and some from sponsorship. They are not as wealthy as you think. The FG donates some monies to them from time to time but it isnt that much. That is not to say some of them aint corrupt. But they are not that wealthy and most times, do not have enough to run the several competitions from under 13 to super eagles, including the women's teams. With their insistence on being independent, the FG is less and less involved. The presidency had to bail them out the last nations cup. Nigeria national teams do not get sponsorship like the English or French or Brazillian national teams.

Aggrippa: c'mon the NFA, the sport Minister and his ministry and the FG are one and the same. you can tell from their behaviours....by thy fruits you shall know them!!
NFF is not run by the government! Correct yourself and learn. All national football bodies are fully independent!
SportsRe: Super Eagles Threaten To Boycott Confederations Cup Over Bonus by thelastPope(m): 7:32pm On Jun 13, 2013
Rossikk: I disagree. WHY should they not be paid their dues AS AGREED? You cannot reach an agreement and when one party screws up, you condemn the other party for taking requisite action. The only action they can take is strike.

This is how we kick ourselves in the foot like a bunch of idiotts. These guys just won the African championships, and yet you still want to treat them like idiots. Other countries will move heaven and earth to make that team as happy as possible, to ensure further successes. Our own is to try and cheat them off 2,000 dollars. RUBBISHH.
What kind of agreement is that that they collect $10000 for a win? How much does spanish players collect? Of Uk players? Zambia won the last 2 Afcon with such little payment. The congolese players asked that their wages be used to develop projects for their country and they are not even half as wealthy as Nigerian players. I do not support NFF but we must balance this. As much as we must come down hard on NFF for any wrong doing, we must not turn this into a money thing else we will never go far again in football. We must learn from history. This was what messed up our participation in Australia and some other tournaments, years back

SportsRe: Super Eagles Threaten To Boycott Confederations Cup Over Bonus by thelastPope(m): 7:21pm On Jun 13, 2013
This goes both ways. I support the boys asking for their payments but to boycott a competition is taking it too far. BBC says they already missed their flight. That is not good at all. Playing for one's country is not primarily about money. If they boycott the tournament, then they are as bad as the NFF officials. Rejecting $2500 for a draw is just ridiculous!

PoliticsRe: World Bank Indicts Jonathan’s Government. by thelastPope(m): 12:51pm On Jun 12, 2013
50calibre: It baffles me how any sane human being seeing the state of affairs in Nigeria, can blindly rise to the support of GEJ and discredit a solid report (based on careful study and observation) by a global organisation such as the world bank. I can guarantee that even you the defender of GEJ isn't finding life very easy.

FYI the world bank gives appraisals from time to time of the world economies, not just Nigeria, and I haven't for once seen anybody discredit their findings.

I said this back on a previous thread, that said the Nigerian economy was growing, I said the economy was growing on paper, and why it isn't evident in the lives of average Nigerians is a mystery, ignoramus attacked me from all angles. Now they've heard the same from the world bank.

Nigerians need to rise and remove their government, Nigeria is regressing.
Do you people even understand these world bank reports? Let me help you a little

1. A poverty appraisal report is not measured on a one year statistics. It is determined by statistics spanning at least 5 years and above.

2. There are 2 types of government policies. Those that affect the short term and those that affect the long term. Even a CNN report indicated some of the policies that led to the last recession where policies dating back to Jimmy Carter. Poverty or prosperity in a nation, doesnt happen overnight. So when you say a poverty report is an indictment on GEJ, you know absolutely nothing.

3. When it comes to issues rise poverty eradication, the issues you must discourse are the immediate and long term efforts and policies the present government has in place to improve it. Not how a poverty report is an indictment on a present government, except that government has been in place for up to 10 years, like some few countries

4. There are many factors involved when you talk about poverty. Population is the biggest factor. Even if people are getting richer, this will always be dwarfed by the fact that the population is exploding. For example, if you say people are not getting richer, who are those buying all the new and used cars in Lagos daily? Are they all politicians too? lol. Lagos has been expanding tremendously in the last 5 years and now Mowe and environs have become part of Lagos. Ikorodu is expanding crazily and so are all the other satellite locations around Lagos. People are building new houses and buying new cars daily in the thousands. But then, that is dwarfed by a population explosion. The implication of that is that the economic growth reports are very correct but other factors must come together to make it an overall transformation for the vast majority of the population

5. This is why I will continue to say that, what you lot are doing is throwing headlines around and trying to score cheap political points off it.
PoliticsRe: World Bank Indicts Jonathan’s Government. by thelastPope(m): 12:28pm On Jun 12, 2013
Dagoma: This means that the rich are getting richer to the detriment of the poor which indicates that level of corruption has gone very high. If this is allowed to continue for the next five years, many neighbouring countries like Cameroon, Togo, Benin Republic and even Niger/Chad will receive migrants from the Giant of Africa and the most populous black nation in the world. May God help us.
You lot are just funny. Poverty rates are increasing the world over. The world is on the verge of another major recession. Italy, France, Spain, Greece are already in the mud. Now the ever strong Germany and the UK are on the edge, yet you open a thread claiming poverty is increasing in Nigeria and that it is an indictment on GEJ? grin grin grin

Comedy central!
PoliticsRe: World Bank Indicts Jonathan’s Government. by thelastPope(m): 11:48am On Jun 12, 2013
Typical ACN/CPC propaganda thread... grin grin grin

So because world bank released a may 2013 report and indicated an increase in poverty rate, they are indicting GEJ? dumb propaganda!

So anytime the US jobs report comes out and is poor, they are indicting Obama? The UK poverty rate is growing too so they must be indicting the PM! lol

You people dont know the difference between criticism and hatred. If a world bank report comes out, you create a thread and debate all the issues sorrounding it, not tag it an indictment on GEJ. Stop playing politics with everything, duh!

Anyway, what do you even expect from people who oppose the flushing out of Boko Haram.

dapachez: Where did you get your statistics of the average age of an okada man in benin from? Agreed most of these YOUNG okada riders aint benin indigenes (those that ply their trade in benin specufically) but when you get to the remote n rural areas you will see young vibrant indigenes hustling from okada business. Most streets are run by middle aged okada riders .if you doubt me from ugbowo starting from federal government girls college junction, adolor college junction, uwasota, nova road junction, technical road junction, uselu market area, etinosa motel junction, uselu park area, taextile mill, okhoro and medical all the way to wire road, ring road, mission road n new benin area you will hardly see old men as bike riders
Okada was only banned in Benin not rural areas. I am not necessarily against okada ban as a means of transport. What I am against are

1. They should stop using the "criminals" excuse. Crime started before okada ban and will not reduce after okada ban. crime has not reduced in Lagos since the ban on okada. It has increased

2. The politicians should be sincere. It is wrong to give them helmets and use thme for campaign only to turn back and ban them after winning elections. It is very very wrong. It shows the politicians are wicked people

3. The ban should be systemic and well thought out. This band wagon thing is wrong. Every state has their uniqueness. You dont just wake up and ban okada in Ilorin because Lagos banned okada. The conditions in each state are different

That is my take

VolvoS60: ^^^^
You made a few solid points in some parts of your post (which I didn't bother pasting here). Unfortunately you lost your way soon thereafter.

Not everybody is 'campaigning to pull Nigeria down'. At least I am not. All I am interested in is a country that works, full stop. And I know GEJ and his party cannot deliver that to me.

You claim GEJ is being persecuted because he is a minority and not because he is underperforming. That statement sir, is FALSE. GEJ is being put through the wringer because he is failing. He will not be spared because he is a minority.

OBJ and Yaradua failed Nigerians and they are justly criticized for this. GEJ will not be given special treatment because he is a minority. No sir. All Nigerians want is somebody that will fight their corner against the vested political and economic interests that have held this country by the jugular for so long. Has GEJ done that? No. And you think he will not be criticized?
Please go back and re read my post. I stated clearly that GEJ should be criticized as far as policies are concerned. Criticized, not insulted and antagonized! Please check your dictionary for an understanding of the difference. Please answer my questions on the last paragraph of the post you quoted. If it is about bad governance, what had he done wrong on the day he was sworn in to warrant criticism? A man just assumed office and you start to insult him and say he should be thrown out, when he had not even spent a day there and you say it is genuine criticism? Haba!
