Mods, please take down this thread. This is a trash thread by an attention seeker. If this is really true, it shouldnt be a thread on NL. It should be a report to the police. What are you guys turning NL into? This is a criminal act and a criminal thread. This will backfire on NL if you people are not careful. This is ridiculous. Someone claims he started a dangerous rumour and is coming back to turn herself into a hero of sorts. This is a complete mockery of Nigerians. If you people dont take this down, we might have to report you to the authorities.

Take it down!

Aussie: 'Like there is personal beef' that means there is non. But can we really substantiate the claim of this so-called beef? CNN has been existing for more than three decades and still waxing; channels like TVC and Channels look up to them. They however beam their news on areas where there are trending news and they consistently feature such news and country. Examples are Nigeria's Chibok kidnappings, ISIS take over of Northern Irag, Libya's insurgency and recently Iran and Iranian's rebel tussel.
CNN has one of the worst rating in America. Please spare us the crap

PoliticsRe: Is Buhari's Life More Important Than Others???? by theoctopus: 8:30pm On Jul 29, 2014
wirinet: Stop calling people kids. I am sure i am way older than you. Nobody is selling me any false history, i lived the history. How can you say a commander in chief hid behind his number 2 man in a military regime? Buhari was the commander in chief of the Nigerian armed forces, so he gives the final order. Ask anybody who had worked with Buhari throughout his military career, including during the civil war, they would tell you he was anything but a coward. All the unfounded allegations against Buhari about being corrupt was only from the figment of PDP's imagination. There had been probes upon probes on his running of PTF. OBJ was obsessed with finding something against Buhari and until he left nothing was ever found. No body had ever been able to connect Abacha loot to Buhari, i wonder how you came about Buhari helping Abacha to loot.
If we are in another country a lot of you PDP guys would be in jail for character assassination and libel with all your spurious allegations you dream up everyday against political opponents.
For your information, the PTF probe showed Buhari was corrupt. That was one reason he shunned the oputa panel and he went on to say Abacha was not corrupt to hide his own corruption. He is a crook
PoliticsRe: Is Buhari's Life More Important Than Others???? by theoctopus: 4:15pm On Jul 29, 2014
wirinet: Although i have always had a soft spot for Buhari due to the vigour, purposefulness and integrity of his short rule (save his gross human rights violations), I do not see him perfoming well as president in present day Nigeria. I am against his hobnobbing with the same kinds of politicians he overthrew and jailed for corruption and he is not as energetic as he was 30 years ago. I also would have preferred him in the background acting as a stateman. Nigeria seriously is in need of apolitical statesmen.

I doubt he or any single person can resolve the challenge of Boko Haram. Boko Haram has grown beyond the local millitia created by politicians for election rigging purposes. It has grown into a strong international terrorist group with foreign funds and Backing. Dealing with it now would require international help from the world powers and cooperation from other west african countries.

If president Jonathan with his enormous power cannot resolve Boko Haram, how do you expect a Buhari to resolve it with nothing at his disposal?
Buhari has never had any vigour or purposefulness all his life. He has been selling a false history of himself and many of you kids have been deceived by him. The only thing I remember about him is a cowardly despost who hid behind Idiagbon's pants for 2 years and then a corrupt PTF chairman who helped Abacha to steal the nation blind and went on to defend Abacha. Then I remember the bigot and extremist who championed Sharia along with Yerima and of course, the serial looser who is too desperate to become Nigerias president again

PoliticsRe: Is Buhari's Life More Important Than Others???? by theoctopus: 3:55pm On Jul 29, 2014
wirinet: Buhari is not a leader? Are you saying you are not aware that Buhari commands more followership than all other Northern politicians? including the Vice President.
Please lets argue with civility instead of getting overly emotional. Nobody is saying Nigeria needs Buhari for Nigeria to move forwards, that is not even the subject of this thread. The question asked is if Buhari's life is more important than others, i was obliged to explain to you that in human societies, the value of certain human lives are placed far above those of others.
So quite taking it personal. If you hate buhari that much, it does not change the fact that his life is placed on a higher pedestal than me and you.
This is completely not true. When Yaradua won him in 2007, there was not a single riot in the north. If he commands more followers like you said, there would have been serious riots. Buhari's followers are vocal because the alternative is a Christian President. It is just religious following by people who want a muslim president. If Atiku or even Sambo become the president today, there will be no riot in the north
PoliticsRe: Is Buhari's Life More Important Than Others???? by theoctopus: 3:52pm On Jul 29, 2014
It is all speculation and bollocks. Buhari's death would not have plunged Nigeria into anything. Just some riots that will die down after some days. The President said what he said because that is who he is; a magnanimous person. See the way he has condoled with El Rufai even with all the insults from El Rufai. GEJ is just an embodiment of love and has a big heart that the El Rufais and the Buharis of this world cannot never dream of nor aspire to!

PoliticsEkiti Election Was Not Rigged - Femi Falana by theoctopus(op): 9:36am On Jul 15, 2014
Were you surprised with the outcome of Ekiti governorship election?

I was flabbergasted by the outcome of the results. Based on several projections in the media I thought that Governor Kayode Fayemi was going to win the election.

Why did you say so?

Going by some development projects executed by the government, I had hoped that Fayemi would defeat his opponents. I never knew of the decision of the vital stakeholders in the state to vote him out of office. That decision was taken before the emergence of Mr. Ayo Fayose as the PDP governorship candidate. The loss of the election by Fayemi has nothing to do with ‘stomach infrastructure’ or the popularity of Fayose.

You think so?

On a critical analysis of the political situation in Ekiti State, Fayemi is a victim of the ideological crisis of his party, the APC. Of course, the arrogance of some of the governor’s aides who were allowed to wield enormous powers equally contributed to the loss of the election.

Do you think the Ekiti election was actually rigged?

The election in Ekiti was not rigged. I witnessed it. I spoke to people before and after the election. Fayemi gave a good concession speech.

But the APC has raised the possibility of photo-chromic ballot papers being used in favour of the PDP?

I have been told by many APC members that photo-chromic ballot papers were used. I think the allegation is bunkum. Unless the party is ready to confront the reality of the election it is not going to draw the vital lessons from it. There were protest votes against the government. Instead of questioning the credibility of the election the APC should engage in a critical review of the verdict of the electorate.

Is it right for the APC leadership to proceed to court after Fayemi conceded victory?

With respect to the validity of the result of the election there isn’t much to contest in court. Apart from the case filed by the E-11, a socio-cultural group which is challenging the competence of Fayose to contest the election in court in view of his impeachment, I do not believe his victory at the polls should be challenged in an election petition tribunal. To that extent, the APC ought to build on Fayemi’s concession speech and reorganise its affairs. .

Their report was not based on her CV she submitted to the NASS. It was based on her so called profile online on Wikipedia. It is so disgraceful what Sharia reporters is doing. The Nigerian Senate have released the Curriculum Vitae (Resume) which Princess Stella Oduah the Aviation Minister used in securing her appointment. They warned that the online news outlets Sahara Reporters and Premium Times should stop giving out false and malicious information that might lead to breakdown of law and order. Sahara reporters have already accepted misleading Nigerians and still refuse to apologize for their malicious allegations and frivolous claims.

How can anyone say lets try APC? Are they knew to power? Is Buhari, Atiku, El Rufai, Fashola, etc new to power? Dont they have a pedigree we can look to? Tinubu has become a modern day gangster reapind Lagos to pieces and someone says we should try him at the center? Buhari has been a bigot for over 40 years and still counting and was a big crook under the PTF era even supporting Abacha eveil reign and massive corruption, yet someone says we should try him? Fashola has been a despot for 7 yars, stealing Lagos blind and whitewashing everywhere and someone says we should try him? What a joke. Now, to make matter really worse, APC has gone to meet IBB, Atiku and OBJ to come steer their ship. This is such a big joke. grin

I have only one question for APC folks. What does a political marriage of Buhari, Tinubu, IBB, Atiku, OBJ hope to produce? How can such a political alliane produce a change in Nigeria? Please just tell me how?
On a flipside,my only real concern about GEJ reign is that corruptions seems to be the order of the day.okay, let me explain further
Morally and literally speaking, I expected GEJ to simply ask any of his minister fingered or alleged to be corrupting his ot herself to resign honourable-But the reverse is the case, His 'Body language' is telling us that he can't exert his power in issues like that.
I don't have the strenght to talk abeg.
To whom power is given, much is expected of'
Most of you who make this kind of statements say it out of ignorance or just trying to follow the trend. What do you mean by corruption used to be the order of the day? Actually, corruption is far less now than it has ever been. The difference now is that things are more open. You never heard of most of the massive corruption under OBJ because they were well covered and shielded. Most of the corruption accusations against OBJ came out during the Yaradua a years. People like FFK were very corrupt but were completely shielded during the OBJ rule. No on ehad access to government documents and no one could see the complete budget items. Now, we can all see it. For example, someone wrote that GEJ was spending so much on food. The question is, did OBJ spend less? Did Yaradua spend less? The answer is no. They actually spent much more. But the difference is that, unlike back then, you now know the actual figures spent. Does that mean there is more corruption now. Absolutely NO. What you have now is more transparency and openess in government
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Will Be The Catalyst Of Change In Nigeria by theoctopus: 9:42pm On Jan 06, 2014
What I like about this thread is the fact that it has sent the Tinubu worshippers into a frenzy and a spiral! Why? Because they have used a worng strategy to sell APC to the masses and that strategy is going to be their undoing. Even in a thread like this, they keep makin statements like GEJ is a massive failure. Guess what? It is coming back to hunt them. As the masses get to know more and more of GEJ's achievements, they begin to see these APC folks as liar and deceivers who have been selling them falsehood just to bring GEJ down. The reverse effect of that is a new and growing hatred for APC. All over social media, the new question is "I thought they said GEJ has done nothing". Anytime a new project is showcased, the same question is echoed by many. Those who travelled for the Christmas season and passed through good roads for the first time in many years almost can believe it. They cant reconcile what they are seeing on the ground with what the papers have been printing as headlines.

The end result will be only one thing. It will turn into big hatred for APC soon. The APC should have pushed a new ideology for Nigeria instead of a war against Jonathan. They would have subtly admitted GEJ's stride while promising they will do much better and who how they would. But their whole campaign has been one way: that is, GEJ is a total failure and a devil and we want the power to return to the north. The only thing that kind of campaign will achieve is a division of Nigeria along tribal, religious and regional lines and there are now only two possible outcomes. 1. Either GEJ wins and continues (because the APC cannot and will not win) and the cabal will forever be shut out or 2. they push things to the extreme and Nigeria implodes. Either way, the Niger Delta and other Nigerian minorities will still emerge winners.
