Help me.
I keep hearing straight to dvd.
What exactly does a straight to dvd film mean?
Most films get a cinema release first, then a DVD release at least one year later.

Straight to DVD films don't necessarily get a cinema release. They are sold immediately as DVD.

Of course it varies by country. Here in Naija most Nollywood films are straight to dvd. Only a few like Okafors law, 76 and up North get a cinema release first.

Straight to DVD films as a rule are not as good as the films released in cinemas first

This is why sex after marriage is advocated. In situations like these they can still marry as long as the love is there. With treatment U= U. Undetectable equals untransmitable . Once her virus becomes undetectable she wont be able to infect the husband
All in all, a tricky situation
I am an advocate of sex after marriage myself...I've seen too many STI's in my practice.

BUT...HIV isn't just spread by sex.

I once treated a lab staff who was positive...a medical lab staff...who might have gotten infected from handling infected material. (I say might).

Why complicate ones life when there are billions of females and billions of other males in the world?
Well, to sum up...nowadays, an AS and AS can have all AA via IVF techniques.

My palaver is that if we do that for every AS couple...we may eliminate the HBS gene...which may have some unknown implications for humanity's genetic future...and no I'm not joking.

Logic in this case is simple: Available medical research shows, quite simply, that the fellow is likely to become a carrier of the disease and, in climes such as Nigeria where medical care is pathetic, would give birth to kids who will suffer from the same disease. Possible consequence will be grief, sickness, cost of medical care and possible, death. So, you avoid it.

Have you ever seen children who are sicklers? Or grew up close to them? You will understand better when I argue that these things should be treated with common-sense and avoided.

I understand that Nigeria is a society where the belief in miracles and magic trumps medical research and reasoning, hence even this simple explanation of mine will be questioned. Which is fine.
Ah, I see you were talking about SCD

Regarding SCD

1.Nowadays, AS copules are counselled. If they go ahead...

2.An AS and an AS copule can have all 'normal' children either by IVF...or even naturally.

3.SS can be cured by stem cell transplants...although that is in the early stage.

4.SS kids with high level of Factor F (kids who have a genetic mutation that makes them produce fetal hemoglobin)...can live a normal life.

Regarding HIV,

1. Once you test positive, you start medications. Now, we have new ARV that help keep the viral load very low..it does not clear it, but it keeps it low

2.If your load is low, chances of spreading the HIV fall

3.Husband can use condom. If he and Madam want the kids...he can remove the condom...and they can get it on, and he can always take PEP

4.Madam can have HIV free kids so long as she is on her ARV, and so long as the child gets some ARV (once ) after birth. Having a CS also improves protection for baby. Again, breastfeeding is now allowed.

HIV care has improved over the last 20 years.

A hiv positive woman can have HIV negative babies...all she needs to do is keep her viral load low with ARV...and she would be all right.

She can even meet regularly with the HIV negative spouse.

bro, as much as i understand that it wouldnt be easy, they can still be happy together, for the rest of their natural lives... if that is indeed the reason why they wanted to get married at the 1st place.

in today HIV+ world, she can take ARV's and live a "seemingly" normal life.... and the day they want to have children, she can get inseminated with his sperm (or do it homemade with a syringe) and possibly have healthy kids. et voila!

but i also fully understand that, if the man wants to leave and forget about this lady, he has all the rights to do so.
She does not even need to do the artificial insemination thing...all she needs to do is take her ARV, keep the viral load low...and there won't be issues with having kids, or even breastfeeding.

So you mean if a governor in USA is caught collecting bribe in a video, FBI, CIA and homeland security will let him finish his term before investigating him grin. So if gandollar was caught in act ofvterrorism they will still let him to finish his term grin. Forget all this nonsense immunity. If it was a pdp governor that was caught on camera collecting bribe we both know what efcc will to do to him.
Efcc heard a rumour that fayose was keeping atiku's election money in his house, they went to raid his house and they found nothing. Bullion van was seen entering tinubu's compound and pictures was even taken but efcc pretended to be deaf, dumb and blind. Abegi, we all know efcc under buhari is to attack opposition party.
Well, the fact remains that Fayose was untouchable till he left office. THEN...he went to EFCC office.

Gandollars is still untouchable because he has not yet been impeached. And EFCC cannot arrest him because he has immunity till he is impeached. And he made his dollars deal...bypassing the Commissioner of Finance, and the state Civil service. If EFCC moved against them ,,the Comisioner and the civil service officials...(as they did for Fayose)...they won't give much information to EFCC....BECAUSE...they know nothing. They did not know their boss even collected kickbacks till they saw the video).

See why Gandollars was so clever.?

The thing is that the State House of Assembly is hamstrung by a court order from impeaching Gandollars.

And if EFCC moves against Gandolalrs directly...they would end up with egg on their faces. (They tried it for Dariye...and it blew up in their faces, and delayed his eventual prosecution for another 14 years)

That is why immunity for governors should be removed. Nigerian law is different from US law.And by the way...EFCC can do something by arresting the bribe giver, find out his contacts, and build a case that would force the state house of assembly's hand.

WAEC is not a Nigerian organization, it is a west African organization. While it is a standard exam, it doesn't fall under the purview of the government in its decision-making. It's pretty much like telling ICAN to shift its exam dates because you have to pray at a particular time. It can be suggested but it should be understood that it will affect the structure of the exam itself extending time limits and finances. Trying to make it a religious matter is very silly in my opinion and in the USA that you mentioned, religion is barred in public school system so as to avoid this sort of things.
WAEC is a West african organisation, but they can still accommodate religions because most people in their member organizations are either Chrstian or Muslim

Personally, I don't mind when WAEC conducts its exams...the problem is, there are far too many agitators on both sides who profit from bad policy decisions.

Good planing means being fair to all. As one of the Rotary group's 4 way tests puts it...IS it fair to all?

It looks atrocious...until you relaise that they are being prepared for the reality on the battleground....and for the possiblity they might be captured.

War is hellish business. If a soldier is trained in comfort...he won't last long on the battle field.

I suggest that anyone complaining should read about the training that special forces soldiers like those in Spestnaz (Russia) get. It is rumored that trainees die when training for Spestnaz. And some ex Spestnaz troops helped us push back Boko Haram

Army life is harsh. Only for the best. And it does work...our Army has pushed back Boko.

So CAN should have kept quiet when Kaduna state kept students in school during Easter last year?

Secularism does not mean that Christian rights transcend Muslim rights.

A rule that didn't work for fayose? Fantastic...
Fayose's corruption was different from Gandollars.

Fayose did his own allegedly via the state's financial institutions...he left a paper trail...that made it easy for EFCC to investigate. And EFCC did not move directly against him (they have learned from the days of Dariye...when they tried it and it blew up in their faces). And many of the EFCC's investigations were stopped by the courts too.And the State House of Assembly in Ekiti did not investigate him at all.

Gandollars was one clever boy. Sure there is a video of him collecting the dollars....which means he is guilty. But...here is the thing...there is NO PAPER TRAIL. The money collected was a kick back, and was probably hidden in accounts that cannot be traced.NO GOVERNMENT MONEY involved.(unlike Fayose)

AT THE SAME TIME...the governor violated the laws...so the State House of Assembly started investigating...before one of his lackeys went to court and got a backyard injunction stopping the investigation. So , until he is impeached, he can't be touched.

Anyway....Fayose and Gandollard deserve a place in jail. That they are not there is a sad thing.

Yes I am aware of that, however, in order not to cause offence...either pretended, genuine, for political effect or out of joblessness, or whatever...WAEC better PLAN better.

The problem with Nigeria is that everybody and his mother considers himself or herself a victim. Hence the need for careful planning to accommodate everyone.

That is a mark of true leadership.

Not too long ago,CAN complained when secondary school timetables for Kaduna state meant that students would be in school during Easter. That to me is not an indication of Muslim persecution of Chrstians, or of Christians crying too much...but of poor planning.

Nigeria has suffered too much because people are always too scared.

EducationRe: MURIC Reacts To WAEC's "Disappear Without Trace" Threats by theoldpretender(m): 11:01am On Mar 26, 2019
A big problem in Nigeria is the issue of religious intolerance.

MURIC should remember that many Muslims have been attacking Chrsitians for years, and nothing was done...and the fact that CAN fights for Christian rights is borne out of bitter experiences.

However, at the same time, the religous rights of Muslim students should and must be respected. Secularisim does not mean that Chrstian rights must be respected above Muslim rights, or that Muslims must be forced to disobey the dictates of their religion. Muslims must not be forced to remove their hijabs, nor Christians must be forced to wear hijab. Exam bodies must learn to accomodate religious days....and must do so in advance.

The real problem is poor planing on the part of WAEC. WAEC , like many Nigerian organisations, does not plan well ahead of time. And they do not learn to make accomodations. Had this been the USA...there would have been accomodations made for religious students, and non religious students.

If we must live in peace in this country...we must be willing to be tolerant. Not selectively....but on a case by case basis. Thank you. I defend no religion.

The problem is, WAEC has set an exam at a time when Muslims would be in the mosque.
