Romance › Re: I Am Still Inlove With My Ex by TheSeeker(m): 2:33pm On Aug 05, 2009
Listen to your story being told to you by someone else and think about it.
First of all, you left him because he was dating more than a girl at a time, among other things. But you loved him; that's understandable. You went along being hurt and someone else came into the picture to help you heal, you finally got over the hurt and now your ex's coming back to you. Out of the blue, you figured you still love him. You're just so pathetic. A compounded fool. I don't get it, what is it about him that you love when he cheats on you? Maybe you're one of those girls who think they don't deserve better because they have a considerably low self esteem.

I don't have to tell you whether or not to get back to him. Check this out yourself: How do you know for sure he's changed? You haven't been with him for a while, what guarantees he won't do worse than he did before? What becomes of the gentle young man who helped you? Where does he stand? In the future if such guys become a player and starts hurting girls, who do we blame? Guys? It's women like you that have made it hard for guys to believe girls and take them for who they are. Obviously, you're not the first I've seen. I know a lot of other people who despite how much they've been hurt by their ex's, they still want to get back with them. I don't get it; do women really love being treated like a piece of trash or as a queen? Apparently, some love to be treated like fools while some who know better make the wisest choice and leave when the tone is high.

I got one word for you : LEAVE! Let the guy find the good girl he deserves. You don't belong to him; he needs someone better. Someone with some sense of dignity and pride in them. A girl who primarily understands she needs a better man. You can go and hang out with your ex boyfriend and get hit even harder -- I just hope you have friends who can console you when he sets you crying again. And, don't come back on here asking you need to get back to the other gentleman or you'll get it hot and nasty. Bounce and leave the guy, go back to your boss - boyfriend.

Ok, that's no problem. Well, 3 years is the best I can. As at then, you'll have had a kid and I will see if your stubbornness will come down a little and I can determine my acceptability of it.

Do you know that when a woman is stubborn, it reduces when she starts to give birth? It's believed some of them flow out with the blood. That's another Yoruba belief! grin

As for you Gators, we shall see where all these leads us to, shall we not?

It's better to be safe than sorry.

As much as there is a chance of Nigerians not marrying foreigners for papers, there is also a chance that they are, I still don't blame her for being worried.
And you've successfully aided her in seeing Nigerian guys in a bad light. There are always two sides to a story but as you're all cut out to be, you like telling only a part.

Dial five fingers on her face and apologize thereafter -- she'll like you. FYI, not all girls like to be attracted with money. In the meantime, try what I said. Dial 5 on her face, you'll be her doll and you'll repeatedly come to her mind everyday.

Can't exactly blame her, not saying that every Nigerian guy wants to marry a foreigner for papers, but it happens so often that one cannot help but to be at some point worried, better to be safe than sorry  lipsrsealed
Well, Nigerians abroad are changed now and are seeing things in a better light. I know a lot of men from Nigeria who are married to foreigners and have kids. Lots of them. We need to start seeing us in a different better light and that's it. I don't like some people coming on here castigating Nigerian guys for every step they take. What about the ladies who get married to foreigners? They're hooking up for papers too? It's time we get realistic and re-evaluate who we are instead of branding our image in what the whole world wants to see it as.

That idea reeks of plain unintelligence. Not all Nigerian guy that gets married to a foreigner does so for papers. Are you saying a Nigerian guy can't possibly love a foreigner unless for her papers? Please come with a better starting line of argument.

I like the way u ended your above post - very nice.  The thing is that everything u've talked about will work if its a babe from any other part of the world, naija babes are different. . .  Just as they attach sooooooo much to respect coming with age - [ask a grown naija woman for her age, and on the average you'll get an answer that is in turn a question of its own - u dont get that when u ask a foreigner no matter their age.], they will also only respect u if they know u are well older than they are. . .   I guess proper love and proper respect creeps into the picture later when u start providing for her but the disrespect from the initial stages alone can crash the entire relationship if care is not taken. grin
Well, that's true. I do know a few couples whose husbands are younger than them. I understand where you're coming from though. It's part of what I've been saying on some threads, Nigeria needs to see beyond her cultural benchmarks. We have to advance in every aspect of life and start to see life as a free gift which we can only make the most of whilst we're in it.

We have to completely let go of all the stigma our supposed culture has barred us from. I don't see anything wrong with a man marrying who's older than him; but like you said, in Nigeria it's a big deal -- family pressure alone is enough to crash the relationship.

I'm a rather orthodox minded man and based on the fact that i'm the true son of my father, my answer would be a resounding NO. I would prefer to provide for my family and earn my respect that way, there is no restriction on the wife if she wants to work but there has to be a very well defined framework in place as to who is the man and the head of the family. To that effect, the age gap has to be a minimum of 5yrs to start with.

PS: I want my ishi-okuko on xmas day too grin grin grin

and no woman drama oh
My main man, what's good? Oya, let's dissect your comment. I understand you being all orthodox, not wanting to adopt the new western kind of system and all that. If your wife is older than you, does that stop you from earning your respect? If you're younger than your wife you're still the head of the family and nothing has changed that. It won't stop your "isi-okuko" too grin. As long as you maintain your maturity and treat your wife the right way you should, you'll always get your respect.

If you fail to perform your civic duties in your own home, if you're 20 years older than your wife, you'll still be less than a chaff to her. But I respect your opinion man, you got policy and that's what's up! They say a man's got two things -- his balls and his word.

Marriage works with different factors:
* Understanding

* Love

* Romance

* Fidelity

* Respect

* Being adventurous, etc.,

Of all these things, which does age have any relation with? Age is just a mere serial number that if it hadn't been for scientific reasons, we'd all have lost count.
