Politics / Re: Print More Naira Notes - Tinubu Tells FG by TheStarsAlign: 9:53pm On Mar 28, 2020
pocohantas:

Peeress should be in a better position to explain. He is an ED. smiley

Cc: Peeress, please help us out here.

No, Tinubu can’t be right. A consumer country like Nigeria shouldn’t be going about printing money. There are no goods/services to mop up the cash. We would only end up with hyperinflation.

It's quite unfortunate, the pattern of most comments so far. Obviously many people here are not aware of the concept of "lesser evil". Those whose arguments are opposed to printing of money because of inflation can't see the bigger picture.

Trying hard not to use economic terms (which may sound big) and may not allow many people to understand the analysis.

Would you rather let there be an economic depression (collapse) and people/businesses die of hunger trying to avoid inflation or have inflation by printing more money?

Printing of money itself is not a good practice. However it is permissible as a short-term solution to prevent an economic shutdown. While I don't support Tinubu nor like him personally, Total Money Supply in the economy must be increased (stimulus) and one of the ways to do that is to print (amongst other options).

Politics / Re: Criticize President Buhari: Don't Insult Him by TheStarsAlign: 8:47am On Mar 28, 2020
Kayceenaz:
It is becoming almost second nature for most Nigerians, both the educated and non-educated classes, to cross the line while pouring out their hearts on national issues. I agree, there are ample question marks on how the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has acted on and reacted to socio-political, economic, and religious matters; spanning from federal character, insurgency, ethno-religious skirmishes, education, malfeasance, to now presidential invisibility before this coronavirus pandemic.

Naturally, we feel betrayed, used, and insignificant to the presidency. Not paling in comparison to status-quo that should be, your feelings are indeed valid. But letting this emotional pain lead you to hurl insults of all sorts at President Buhari, as rampant online, is an overreaction. As you call him unprintable, reprehensible names and ridicule him through jokes/memes, remember he is fallible, someone's husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and holds office of President of Nigeria. It is enough to beg to differ with and criticize constructively his leadership style plus policies. Using constitutional and moral means to show displeasure are in order. Look emotional intelligence's way.

Disturbingly, some people even wish Buhari death, hoping news of his demise filters in soonest. If that's not a representation of the Scriptures' observation that "The heart of man is desperately wicked," then it must be of something worse. If you fall in this category, kindly stop now! Such comments are humor taken too far.

As events unfold and we watch with disappointment, anticipating the National Assembly does the needful and saves the day, let us (Nigerians) amplify our voices to be critically loud enough, not insulting enough.

Have you not heard the saying 'Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown?' If you know you dont want to be insulted stay in your lane- mind your family and business. Never run for public position (if you must, you should at least be very sound and tolerable)

Obama & Jonathan were mocked. Those who mocked Obama came across as stupid while those who mocked Jonathan had jolly-rides.

Infact you don't know what you're saying, even Jesus was mocked by people he came to save talkless of politicians who are filled with greed, avarice and deceit. Abeg! talk another thing.

Ironically this Imam is saying that Yoruba and Hausa-Fulanis are fools!! shocked

Before you attack me, I am quoting the Imam who said and I quote:

Stupid Presidents are voted by stupid people!!

And we all know that Yorubas have been well proud that they made Buhari President, meaning Yoruba voted Buhari in twice as a dumb President.

So based on the Imam's words, Yorubas are foolish!! Na wa for Imam of Peace oh grin

I am only quoting Iranian Imam of Peace cool

Stop being petty. The whole world have seen that that election is the worst in the history of Nigeria. Sinzu rigged himself in with armoured tanks & nobody dare query him. I am Youruba and could never have voted for such a re.tard (same for every sane Yoruba person). Be guided. #ImYoruba&Proud.

Who tested him and where was he tested.it is the responsibility of the Lagos State government to take care of him and that is why the different centres were built including in the national stadium
Sahara reporter you are so irresponsible how can you have this information and you did not take this up rather than reporting after the deed has been done .he might have contact with one of your staff

What are you saying? The work of the press is simply report issues as they happen. It's left for whatever agency or govt to do theirs (or not).

Good, people however need to be taught the medical routine as they isolate & quarantine. We need to know the processes they are going through while at it.

If someone who once tested POSITIVE later becomes NEGATIVE, What are they doing/giving to them?

Knowledge is power & no information should be hidden from the people in the fight against COVID-19.

This is plain stupidity. This right here could be part of stimulus after COVID-19 is over. Right now people need grants and any support to buy enough food, multivitamins and disinfectants. People are dying & you're still giving stupid conditions?

When China was battling their first set of casualties, Nigeria was beating their chest "they were more than ready. For their mind, now we all can see they were never ready Problem is Nigerian politicians are used to lying ehn unfortunately you can't lie to Covid, he must to catch you

The world better join Jack Ma with the supplies and see how much we can save; I don't want to imagine what the casualties would be by the end of April. The night is going be very long...

PRAYER: God, please have mercy on us and heal our land. Don't let this thing degenerate; we obviously won't be able to cope. Help our govt to pay more attention to health and education henceforth and not be jetting out at every opportunity. They have learnt and are ready to amend their ways (hopefully).

Nigeria never seizes to amaze. Work from home, how? Are they now Freelancers. Do civil servants understand gig economy? Moreover where is the light and data they want to use? Which portal will they connect to? Funny people. You expect them to fuel their gen and not watch ZeeWorld and AfricaMagic and be disturbing themselves.

When you were suppose to be equipping people and building digital infrastructure, you were busy stuffing money buying houses in Dubai and Philippines. I hope people in govt will learn small from this; that is, those who will survive.

I don't know why this govt/ are so unintelligent. Simply remove the unfair advantages they have through your laws and their monopoly will fade away.

Why do you even want to be telling a company how to run their business. MTN once said Per Second Billing was not possible in Nigeria but nobody forced them to change to Per Second Billing when Glo came.

Make the market viable for new comers and watch things change. Moreover, are lawmakers not suppose to make the laws why calling executive abi they're trying to confirm we're truely in a military regime. Force does not always work.

You people should have sense.

Health / Re: Woman Who Tested Negative For Coronavirus In Enugu Dies A Day After by TheStarsAlign: 2:12pm On Mar 18, 2020

The story is pathetic.

The claim here is that she tested negative to covid-19,hence no clinical need for isolation.so why was she still kept in the abandoned building to the extent that she had to pass on there?

It took 3 days for the test/result to be ready so they kept her for that period. While she was there her health failed due to bad care.

At this point in Nigeria, I don't think it should take more than 6 hours for the test/result to be done with.

Politics / Re: Northern Nigeria Developing And Growing Stronger Than Ever Before(photos) by TheStarsAlign: 3:39pm On Mar 15, 2020
Development should not be measured mainly in physical infrastructures (even though they're important) rather, development should be measured in quality of life, education, medical, security of life/property, freedom of association/religion, thriving entrepreneurial & peaceful environment. For a start, when the North starts to have minimum of 50% children off the streets and in schools; the development would have truely started. Bricks and mortar is easily broken but an educated soul is boundless.

Based on my pointers, the whole of Nigeria self is still very far from development only that we like to deceive ourselves. undecided wink

And don't tell me is not possible or it never happened.

A lot of people don't learn from history and so history sometimes likes to repeat itself. Have you ever read of Alaafin Adeyemi II and Chief Bode Thomas (same Bode Thomas) you must have heard the name before.

I just hope history is kind not to repeat itself this time. Arrogance goes before destruction.
