Why can't you people make your point without bragging, always comparing and claiming what you are not. Anambra your NY, how develop is it. From Upper Iweka to Nteje and all those villages where communal war still exist, which one doesn't have brown roof?

Why have you all failed to distinguish a city from houses in the bush Towns in SS are heaven compare to what we have in Alaigbo, there is nothing interesting there that is why your people troops to other region in droves turning yourself to refugee in your own country
Well, you have it wrong. It shows you haven't traveled enough. There are luxurious estates in the east, luxurious palaces, the only thing Igbo lacks presently is making their center the hub of manufacturing, where they'll be producing goods that is internationally acceptable. That's the Igbos hubby, and the government isn't focusing on that. What your government is focusing on is making Nigeria a full Islamic nation, so they'll be able to have puppets.

But Igbo isn't that kind of people. We prefer to be known by the world, we prefer to be a jewel for the black race. Most times, this is the reason Igbos love Chinese and the Asians. These people were called names by the ruling whites in those days, but they geared up to develop their lands, and what are the whites commending them for today? My dear so many things, the Chinese and Asians are loved by various people for their ingenuity.

But Yoruba fits the Sokoto caliphate agenda well. Becuase as your brother said you believe in respect of hericachy. Okay, if you do, then be so. But you need not force the democratic Igbo nation in the scam of democracy.

Very soon, we would have the leverage and you'll surely see the Biafran state what it truly is. A manufacturing hub of the world, because there would be the freedom to use our imagination to create something meaningful to the world. Not in nIgeria that never commends someone's imagination or ingenuity in using it for the betterment of the country.

Abeg shut up. Walk the walk or shut up. Everyone is tired of your insultive excuses always targeted at other Nigerians.

You are always waiting for one port, one airport, a certain bridge or a "game-changer" road.

Yet all Igbo trillion dollars of wealth you assure us is real cannot deliver these things today and now so you can all move back to the SE?

Shior.
Reallyhuh I just read this, you still added more comments to it. Now, let's use this scenario, If the government thwarts every avenue to trade in Yoruba land, like a good sea port, policies against a certian people and all that stuff what would happen to the nation.

This development of Lagos is intentional, but it wouldn't last long for it would back fire, do you want to know why, the reason is Igbos won't be here too long and you guys would have to be on your own. No more petting you to develop your land as the government has indirectly directed them to do with its Draconian policies.

The private funds we've (Igbos) used it to develop the little we can, and I forsee the future, there'll be a great man from the Igbo country, who would set the world ablaze with his findings, that he would use his trillions to develop his country. I see it, although it's still a vision.

That said, Igbos are way more developed if you bring all of the South west and south east together. Most south west places are villages with brown, rusty roofs, dusty roads, uncultured people, and all that sort.

I know your next claim would be "How would Igbos survive in their erosion Laden lands." Well, erosion is caused by massive population explosions on a vicinity. But with much control it can be reduced to the barest minimum.
LAGOS is the only place Yoruba's take pride in, when they've contributed little or nothing. All they do is head to the Igbo markets they've little contributed into and start collecting payments. There are more and more you need to know which shows Igbos if they were kept in the same level playing ground with the Yoruba's, the Yoruba's would be numb. grin

I am supposed to feel bad because of what you think of me?

Abeg, if you a proper and sophisticated lady, to begin with, why did you not tackle your divisives brother who started this thread and his ethnic baiting that gained my response and that of other Yorubas here?
I read the thread and it was the truth to me. I was here when Yoruba's (your brothers per se) insulted Kanu that he was a coward, and even insulted the Igbo community, calling them cowards, chest beaters (I guess you know this word pretty well on this forum) and all sort of deragotory names.

But Igbos had little or no comment, or sometimes gave you back to back.

When Igboho came, Yoruba's even called him Omoluabi, singing praises to him, and it seemed all Yoruba's were with him at that time. They'd even mocked the Igbos too at that time, telling us he's a real leader. In which I believe he is. He had the zeal to stop the menace happening in a land that he was born in.

But as soon as the government took a hold of him, you come here to say Yoruba's respect heirachy, isn't that the most delusional piece of stuff in the century? Please aks yourself?

Respect a government meant to work for you, you voted him in to respect him. Government works for you, not the other way around.

With your concept we could very well be heading in some communist government, and not liberal as you purport.

Stop you lies, Igbo are everywhere in Nigeria, I mean responsible Igbo not some egocentric and barbaric one among you who never leave Evil forest in Abakaliki with your myopic view and irritating comments against other tribes in Nigeria
Where in my mention did I say they aren't everywhere. Our point of discuss was Lagos, not Nigeria. Your people always term Lagos as Igbo heaven because you find Igbos making it what it is.
Isn't it why at a certain time, one governor years ago made a huge makrekt complex, and told citizens and Igbos are invited to take a lease in opening the market.

If it was a Yoruba land for only you guys why would the south western governor, I don't know if it's Ogun or Osun call on Igbos to take lease for the new market complex.

You people know how important Igbos are to your region and you can't accept it, but enjoy the benefits of it.

Did your grandfather also not tell you to stay away from the land of "backstabbers"?

Abi what are you people doing, if not #holding on to the tail of a lizard", by making Yorubaland your biggest home away from home, by far, in the entire universe? Shameless hypocrites.
Point of correction, the only place you will find Igbos in majority is Lagos, what does Igbo want to do with other Western state? It's the same way In Enugu, so stop all these pride in yourself, thinking you people are special becuase you know of computer village or Alaba market. If all the Igbos go, it's people like you that would persuade them to come back, crying food is scarce, transport is costly, or you can hardly get cheap products and all that sort.

So, stop ridiculing yourself with all your mentions when you know the truth. Igbos are found in millions in Lagos. Even me, I don't see myself preparering to go to OYO, or Ogun, what do I want to do there. Even if you see some Igbos there, just know is either they didn't have money to pay rent or something happened financially.

And I believe most Yoruba' landlords in Lagos do that, so Igbos would develop hinther lands for them. So when the prices are high, the business looking igbos would have to pack to places in their village to develop it for them.

And Igbos are not devious, so they help you guys develop. But as soon as Akwa Ibom and it's port, and Imo and it's infrastructural abilities are done or even Enugu, you'll be seeing a mass migration in no time. So, please dear, be less worried. Igbos have no time to steal your Lagos from you, they'll freely give you back when the time comes.

Advice Needed. I Have An Issue Bothering My Soul And Life..

I am based on the mainland and I recently came back from akwa Ibom where I did my youth service... I stay with my brother on mainland hoping to get a job and move out..

By God grace, there is possibility of me getting a Job on the island even though it is not yet concluded... Meanwhile the job will be on probation as I am currently being trained on it.

I have a lady Frnd Dt I met since last year, no sexual stuff btw us. We have just been friends. She stays on the island (ajah) and her rent is expired, though she didn't plan to continue living in That house. Our plan is Dt she is moving out and I will pay but recently she had some financial issues and wunt be able to move out again. So she suggested that we should pay another 1 year rent.

My concerns:
1. She is not really troublesome but sumtyms she is very stubborn. Anyway she is a Good lady sha.

2. Possibility Dt her sis will stay with us. I don't know much abt her sis and I don't want trouble.

3. a. The house is located in a ghetto like area in Ajah where the bathroom has no door and even the next person bathroom and people outside will know u r the one bathing. (bathroom fence not tall and no roof)

3.b. The toilet fence are so short that the next person can see u and u can see him/her while pooing cry cry cry. I love privacy and this kind life is not what I wished for..

4. The environment is notin to write about but I can cope...
.

What should I do? I don't intend rejecting this job due to lack of a good place to stay and I can't stay In mainland to be working in island which of course is still a probatory stuff.

Nairaland family, I am so confused right now......
You can get a hostel

Swimming or sailing lol, unless your boat capsized you don't need to swim the ocean but I'm telling you, why would someone swim the high sea naturally, I'm saying perhaps people are confident to paddle their canoe in the ocean, let's say from Onitsha to Bonny, for real I don't think many Igbo can do that in the present day
And who told you so dear? Don't underestimate Igbo people, greatness is in the blood of all of them. Don't be shocked if you see a layman doing it better than the waterside people. We have many of them on Igbo land.

Do you know how many Igbos had died as a result of drowning especially in Lagos, this thing you guys are seeing it as a matter of ego, we are talking about life here,

Phobia does not mean hate, no one really hate water, we are talking about phobia (fear) and we are not talking about a cup of water, we are talking about sea/ocean and larger rivers, if you are talking about the Igbos in Opobo, I can understand those ones, they may not swim the ocean but at least they can sail it with their locally made boat,

I'm waiting for any Igbo who had paddled a canoe across our inland rivers, until no one had come out to disprove that then it means that there is serious fear of water, the fact is that this is not about being Igbo, I was born and raised in Igboland,
We are saying the same thing, so which Ijaw or water side people have you seen swimming on the broad ocean. Even the Singapore's or islands near the ocean don't even know how to swim on the large ocean, or the British Isles people, why is Igbo an exception.

In Calabar self, I haven't seen a fisherman swim in the ocean, River, yes, but ocean, chineee skirt!!! Which one is that? grin

Now you are talking, I did not say that Igbos hate water generally but that Igbos have phobia for large water bodies and there seem a Disinterest towards swimming on a greater majority and parents had passed down tales about how water gods and goddesses would take people yearly, you should know that this story is only applicable to deep waters so, there is going to be need for awakening, where we could engage in deep sea diving, submarines and real inland shipping both for peace and otherwise.

There's apparent phobia honestly, I don't think apart from the Igbos in Opobo, Bonny and other places that any of us mainlanders can brave the sea on a canoe, this lack of interest had impacted the economy of AlaIgbo, we don't even talk about fishing
Even in Ijaws, which Ijaw or water side people can gracefully swim in water or the open ocean. Its only a few, just the same way as Igbos.

And when it comes to the Igbos, it isn't only a few, a great majority of us love the water. That's why when we come to Lagos, or Calabar, we love to buy houses near the ocean.

Sweetheart, Igbos do not have issues. We were brought into a system were cowardice, servitude and ridiculous obesiance was self-forced on us. This is why we are pro-igbo, becuase most idealogies from other tribes are either ancient or not accepted in the present state of the world. This is the reason for the Igbo renaissance.

That said, not to deviate from the subject, Igbos love to swim, infarct a great majority of us love the water.

I'm Ghanaian (Ashanti) but my lovely Igbo mum is from Arochukwu in Abia state. In the past when I came to the village for Christmas, the village kids would drag us to the river to while away the time, and you'll be seeing little kids swimming like submarine jets.

I for myself love the water, and the elders I saw there also love the water. Water is refreshing and it has been known for millennials. This is the reason the human body is made up of 70-80 percent water. So to say Igbos fear water becuase of what not, I'll say it's false. Igbos love the water in some respect, but avoided it becuase of certian issues it has at that time, and they'd also loved the dry land because of their dry crop products. Gbam!!!

Why I do really think that it is an Igbo thing is that our ancestors spread Northwards instead of towards the Atlantic, and if we wanted given the large number of Igbos, if there were no fear of the Oceans, we could have advanced further towards the Ocean, in Nigeria for instance, Occupation could be tribal,

For instance in the very distant past, the Ijaws were more into fishing, Igbos more into Smithing, farming, weaving, etc, it became a bulk of occupation by strength, in the basic human reacts to greed and fear, fight or flight, in this regards, Igbo ancestors' greed did not take them to the ocean so did the fear most likely, and then if we can't fight it, we flight from it, creating the phobia at the national level, we are not allien to the ocean, our ancestors just avoided it
Our ancestors didn't only spread northward, we have clans like Ikewere, Opobo and the likes who settled even when when Niger Delta was bad lands, filled with swamps and horrifying creatures. Some even tagged it's bushes as evil forest. So they moved far and wide.
