Omoakinsuyi:you forgot to add looting and cold blooded murders. |
emmayayodeji:thanks bro. I have decided to focus on the English leagues. you can always expect my picks a day before their matchdays cheers |
ernesterioo:lol. thanks bro |
League Two NB: most of the favourites in league 2 are playing away this weekend. if you're uncomfortable with packing ur selections with away wins like me, you can focus on goals market for the matches. or remove them totally sef. half bread is better than none... Mansfield vs Morecambe Many have quite a good defensive record for a team in 17th position. they have kept a clean sheet in 36% of their home ganes. but they have scored just 21 goals. however , their opponents are in terrible form. Morecambe have the worst defensive record in the league, conceding 38 goals. I go for 1X and under 4.5 Hartlepool vs Blackpool though Hartlepool shredded a lot of tickets last week by drawing away against portsmouth, they are a terrible side at the back. they have conceded 37 goals and have the second worst defensive record. their manager will also be serving a touchline ban for this match. they come up against and inform Blackpool side who have scored in 82% of their away games. X2 and over 1.5 for me. or 2 if u are bold enough Luton vs Colchester two inform sides meet here. Luton are a bit inconsistent. but they have the best defensive record in the league. and they have scored in all their games this season. Colchester are playing well too. they have won 3 of their last four. but they have failed to beat Luton away at three attempts now. I go for 1X and ov 1.5 Notts County vs Doncaster Notts co are in turmoil.they have suffered six straight defeats. they have not even scored shishi in their past four home league games. their owner has just sold the club in annoyance due to the abuse his family got from fans. Doncaster on the other hand have the best attacking record in the league, managed by Darren Ferguson, Sir Alex's son, they have picked up 16 points from their last eight games. I go for a straight away win here. Crewe Alex vs Carlisle Crewe have now conceded 8 goals in their last 3 games losing all three. defensive problems led to their relegation from league one last season. and they face high flying Carlisle who have only lost once in the league. they have scored 40 goals, the highest in the league. they have scored in 95% of their games. straight away win here wow. its not easy off to eat Xmas chicken now. ernesterioo, baba abeg help me complete the booking. thanks |
League One (shorter narratives) Sheffield utd vs Oldham this is a straightforward home win. Sheffield united are hot. Oldham are not. Sheffield have won 8 of their last 11. Oldham have had poor performances and slipped down the table. plus, they are having serious financial problems off the pitch. straight home win it is Bolton vs Shrewsbury Bolton have the best defensive record in league one. and they score goals. they have scored 17 goals in 11 home games. Shrewsbury have improved under their new manager but they have still lost 6 of their last 11 away games, conceding 19 goals. I go for 1X and over 1.5 Oxford vs Northampton two sides with contrasting form. Oxford are unbeaten in 8 games. Northampton have not won in 8 games. oxford have won 3 of their last 4 home games. I go for 1X and ov 1.5. a bolder bet would be Oxford straight win Fleetwood vs Bury simple put, anybody would beat bury right now. they have not won since September. they have lost eight straight away games. Fleetwood have won all oglf their last five games at home. in fact they have scored 21 games at home this season. I go for 1 and ov 2.5 Millwall vs Swindon Millwall are back in the play off race. their midweek win will have been a major boost. they have won four of their last six at home and have an edge over Rochdale who have lost five of their last six away. I go for 1X and ov 1.5 Peterborough vs Gillingham Peterborough are an ultra attacking side. the y score goals for fun. their array of attacking players have contributed 23 goals at home. Gillingham are very inconsistent. however they are terrible at the back. no clean sheet away this season conceding 25 goals. they have lost 8 of their last 11 away games. I go for Peterborough straight win. risk takers can go for gwion Williams as any time scorer. his beautiful solo goals have been all over YouTube recently Rochdale vs chesterfield Rochdale have the second best home record this season. 8 wins in 11 home ganes. chesterfield have lost 8 of their last 11 away games. it should be a straight forward home win but my instinct says 1X and ov 1.5 remains my league two picks |
Okosisiadada:i will definitely post the booking number here. the matches are still tomorrow. I'm posting all these epistle so people can use the information to rework and maybe even drop some matches if everyone plays the games the same way, a single upset can send us all to the village. but by having info that can help us diversify the picks a bit, there's more chance that someone will land alabi an uppercut on boxing day |
Championship Aston Villa vs Burton Steve Bruce has got villa stable again. they have the championship's only unbeaten home record. and I read somewhere that villa park will be filled for the first time in five years on boxing day. I expect the fans to leave happy after watching villa dispatch the championship's smallest club. Burton have performed better than most people expect but they are yet to win away. infact, Burton have the second worst away record on the league. villa straight win it is! Preston vs Leeds Preston have gone under the radar a bit. they are a team that rarely grab the headlines, apart from when their two strikers Beckford and Doyle were sent off for exchanging punches on the pitch a few weeks back. they have served their bans so they should play against Leeds. let's hope they pass to each other. Preston have only lost 3 of their last 16 matches. 3 of these defeats have come against Almighty Newcastle. they have won 5 of their last 8 games at home. Leeds are on form too. they have won 7 of their last 9 matches. however, they have failed to score in 40% of their away games this season. Preston are difficult to beat at home, so I go for 1X and under 3.5 Huddersfield vs Nottingham Forrest Huddersfield seem to have stabilized after a rocky patch. they have won their last 3 matches and are looking to make it 4 straight wins against a forest side who are terrible at the back. forest have only kept one clean sheet in their matches this season. they have lost 64% of their way games too. I see lots of goals here particularly with ellias kachunga and nakhi wells hitting form for Huddersfield. I go for 1X and over 2.5. but Huddersfield straight win is a decent bet too Reading vs Norwich Jaap Stam has got reading punching above their weight. on the other hand, Alex Neil is under pressure at Norwich as his team are in free fall. reading have the second best home record in the league. they have won 7 of their last 9 home games. Norwich are the exact opposite, losing 7 of their last 9 away games. I would have gone for reading straight win, but for some reason, the bookies rate Norwich as favourites. so I go for 1X and over 1.5. I will definitely include reading straight win in my 'finish alabi' slip Newcastle vs Sheffield Wed this is a big battle between two form teams. The temptation is to choose Newcastle without thinking. However, sheff Wednesday have one of the best away defensive records. their manager , Carlos carvahal is a Portuguese in the mould of Jose mourinho. over the past two seasons, he has succeeded in packing midfield and securing away goalless draws against bigger promotion rivals like Brighton, hull and Norwich. with that I mind, I go for 1X and under 3.5 remains my league 1 and 2 picks. lemme rest a bit. e no easy to type on this my palasa phone |
I have decided to use my extensive knowledge of the English leagues to assist us in making our boxing day picks. I also used info from freesupertips which I believe is a very good site. My aim is not to make exact predictions but to provide information we can all use. Anyone with comments, suggestions or objections should quote me. Don't quote the whole post cos it's gonna be very long.... Premier League Chelsea - Bournemouth In spite of the absence of kante and Costa, I see Chelsea winning this comfortably. Bournemouth are an attacking team and are usually very open. a midfield of wilshere, arter and maybe goslings will find it hard to track hazard, willian and Pedro. more importantly, ake is ineligible to play. without his youthfulness at the pack, Francis and cook's lack of pace will be exposed brutally. Leicester vs Everton the champions are struggled badly this season, but I fancy them to get a result. despite their wobbles, Leicester have won 7, drawn 3 and only lost 2 of their last 12 home games. Everton on the other hand have lost 5 of their last 6 away games. Lukaku, who remains their chief attacking threat will find it hard to bully Morgan and Huth. and slimani should prove to be a decent stand in for the suspended vardy. there may not be many goals in this so I go for 1X and under 4.5 Man Utd vs Sunderland As a united fan, I often avoid their games to avoid clouding my judgement. but I fancy a win today. Sunderland are usually ultra negative in away games. they pack the midfield and play anichebe on the left, leaving Defoe isolated. despite this approach, they have lost five of their last six way games failing to score on each occasion. Their injury hit squad will surely be found out against a united team who seem to have stumbled on stability, winning 7 and drawing 4 of their last 11. I go for united straight win Arsenal vs West From Arsenal have lost their last two and were comprehensively outplayed in the second half of their last visit at city. but o expect them to beat west brom here. Pulis is expected to play four centre backs in defence and try to frustrate arsenal. But the gunners have players like Sanchez, ozil, iwobi and Walcott who may think and move too fast for the physical but slow west brom defenders like Evans, mcauley,Dawson, olsson and nyom. the only reason I'm cautious about an arsenal straight win is west brom's expertise at set pieces. so I go for 1X and under 4.5 Burnley vs Middleborough Burnley may be sitting just above the relegation zone but they are a nightmare to play at home. they have won five, drawn one and lost two of their last eight home games. those defeats have come against arsenal and man city, both narrow losses. Boro have been poor away. they put up great performances away against the big boys, drawing against arsenal, man city and Leicester. but they have lost against the smaller teams. also, they struggle to score regularly, with their top scorer, negredo struggling to find consistency. I go for 1X and under 4.5. punters who are less risk averse may go for a Burnley straight win Hull vs Man City Hull have gone 4 games unbeaten at home. but they are having a torrid season. with the worst defensive record in the league, they are bottom on the log. they have also failed to win for seven straight games. city have won 6 and lost 2 of their last 8 away. even without aguero and fernandinho, they should be able to dispatch a hull team which concedes goals for fun. city straight win it is. my picks from the championship, league one and league two loading. over 25 games in all. |
kilonso001:very painful. especially when its just one game |
kilonso001:lots of near misses today. saw a game posted here today and watered it down to B924WSARCQTEZ-2062730 But Livingston decided to be unfortunate someone should help me with that I will not cry meme... kingofcasting and co... do the needful |
BraniacX:I know wat you mean. but honestly, I have seen better results than hers that did not make it into medicine in Ife. the competition is scary. in fact, on the other thread, a guy posted details of his kid sister who scored higher than aror and was not offered admission yes she did a job worth a pound but hundreds of others did a job worth more than a pound. unfortunately, the university only has a few pounds to share around |
BraniacX:sorry, you are the one in denial here. this is probably the end of my involvement in this intellectual masturbation. you claim ur initial point was that schools in Nigeria were generally tribalistic. that's a lie from the pit of hades! You actually said south western schools are monoethnic. you saw a post about a lady with good scores who wasn't admitted into OAU. instead of 'thinking' about what the possible causes could be. and ways to help out.... you went for tribalism...with virtually no proof. unfortunately, you scored an own goal. ur mouth has been left bloodied. dazed and faced with the fact that the lady is already a student and there may be a mixup somewhere, you stagger around and stumble on some 'concepts'... to refresh ur memory, here is the comment that got my attention
|
Phi001:help me tell the brainiac fellow. he was mouthing off about tribalism and nepotism on the other thread |
longjohnsilver:eeyah! this is another painful case and her second choice of pharmacy is also competitive. tell her to keep her head up and go again |
babyfaceafrica:you don't get my point. it is easier for her to complain and get the issue resolved than for anyone to get the school to invest in a top notch portal. we have to deal with the reality of life here. Nigeria cannot CHANGE. Anyway, its obvious that she didn't even know that submitting only 7 subjects will set her back by the way, why would I be angry if someone calls Nigeria a zoo? today makes it 2 months without power supply in my area. in fact... Nigeria is a zoo! |
barragan:unfortunately, it is very rare to find cases where students cross to medicine in OAU. they make it sound as if its a piece of cake if you have good grades but its only to console u at the point of rejection. in most cases, another rejection awaits when u try to transfer I know a friend who was allowed to leave his dept. but medicine rejected him and he couldn't go back to his department. left in limbo, he had to go beg at faculty of agric for one terrible course |
babyfaceafrica:that's the problem with Nigerians. we don't stay true to our existential reality. Does OAU look like MIT? some things are bound to happen in this country. you have to adapt to survive. the portal is probably archaic and will remain so for years. if this country was perfect, we won't be having this argument. JAMB rules state that an undergraduate should not sit for UTME. but the lady, who is already an undergraduate did. isn't she blocking the pathway of some schooleavers who have no admission yet? |
Donpre:you are taking her word for gospel. how come others were able to upload the 8 subjects? the guy who quoted her tweet said he tried again the next day and was able to upload. to make matters worse, it appears she didn't realize that uploading only 7 subjects would set her back in the competition! |
baum1:Yes. coupled with her own levity. admission into medicine shouldn't be treated with levity. medical rehab to computer centre is barely five mins walk. she should have gone their to complain about the failed upload of the 8th subject lessons abound to be learnt in this case |
johnsonjosbles:dunno whether to laugh or cry..... I can choose to reason like you and say that UNIMAID gave us boko haram. but I won't. on behalf of OAU alumnus worldwide, I apologize for whatever wrong OAU has done to you in the past. |
Donpre:she 'claimed' the portal refused to accept computer. you and I were not there so we can't say if that's true or not She is already a student and is used to the system. I believe she should have gone to computer centre to complain. While it is clear that she has a fantastic result, I believe she has handled this her admission with levity. such a pity |
babyface224:she has very good grades. correct but she made an error that set her back in a competitive admission process. exceptions can't be made for that |
johnsonjosbles:calm down bros. the fact that you didn't get admission into OAU does not mean the admission process was rigged against you. stop carrying this hate around with you.... |
duni04:I understand the anger. her result is too good to not get her admission however, she only uploaded 7 subjects. she claims she was unable to include the 8th subject due to an issue with the portal. I think she should have been more forceful and she should have complained. see her tweet below....
|
duni04:Lol. see nairaland logic seriously, the case should be put to bed. she should go and pay the provost a visit to know if there's still a way. Come to think of it, isnt it a crime for an undergraduate to write UTME? |
OBAGADAFFI:she is already a student of OAU. studying medical rehab |
BraniacX:can you see ur tribalism and nepotism spew has fallen flat on its face in this case? you and others like you need to take matters based on their merits! I knew there was a mistake somewhere... hope its resolved in her favour tho |
BraniacX:ur initial point that irked me was that south western schools were tribalistic now you have shifted the goal posts. I will no longer engage you in this dance of folly. to set the record straight. you suggested that this particular girl did not gain admossion into OAU because she was from delta state and not from the south west. now that its apparent that she is already a student of the school, you have 'changed mouth' and danced away from the crux of our argument. the fact is you made a baseless, ill informed , biased and hopelessly unfounded statement. and it came back to bite you... the lady is a student of OAU. and she is not Yoruba. deal with that....then we can talk about nepotism |
BraniacX:but definitely not tribalism. u were bang out of order there. |
BraniacX:learnt on this thread that she is already a student of the university. so ur point that she was not offered admission based on tribalism is null and void. I still insist that there was a mistake somewhere. but its not due to tribalism. maybe nepotism...but not tribalism! |
toothyGrin:they didn't make an error in her grading. the error was hers. she uploaded only 7 subjects instead of 8. I will tag u with her transcript when I find it |
Ariel20:watched the video and i can your feeling would only be valid if he was drunk or blind! |
***phew*** smh
