You should be confident to apply only if you know how to package your application

Ok boss, if it’s to package, we’ll know how we’ll do that one.

Hello house,

Una good evening o. Please is it a good idea for me to use an account that is doing fixed deposit and/or capital investments from my Dad as POF? The accounts currently have like 700 and 800k balance but account statements show 25m and 5m going in and out every 90 and 30 days. The next liquidity period is in August but I want to apply ASAP and maybe explain in my sponsorship letter that these funds can be liquidated at any time yada yada.

I also have a good job of 450 and 150 on the side but applications don chop my money so I don’t have good closing balance too. I also recently got a $2k job I plan attaching all my employment letters too JIC. Advice on best approach pls.

Thanks thanks

If you don't have asset(s) in your name it's not a problem, if your dad is going to be your sponsor he should provide his bank statement 4months and a good balance, get a reference letter from his bank and a written letter stating he's your father and he's going to bear full responsibility for your proposed purpose of visit, if you have some money in your bank account you can also submit it. If your mom is willing to gift you a land then let her transfer ownership in your name and attach the document and you can attach other family assets all these will suffice but the koko is a good bank statement from your sponsor etc like I mentioned earlier

Hello house,

With respect to my earlier question, my Dad has a fixed deposit account with about 25m but he has rolled over again till August. Can this be used as POF? The balance however is not much. His other accounts sum up to like 1.5m though but there's good inflow/outflow. And he has a 5m account for my school fees. Should he just transfer this to me and do a notarized gift deed or the FD account is enough for POF

Don't be confused, remember, no need to rush things if you do you might make some mistakes. Take your time and seek for help so that your next application will end in praise. Cheers

Hello Chief, for a young guy like me (24) who has no personal assets like car or land, how do I prove personal assets? Although my Dad is going to be sole sponsor and he has enough money in the bank to prove this. Can I maybe get my mum to gift her land to me as personal asset?

Thanks in advance.

Good to know you have exhausted kaplan and Manhattan.
Now, it is time to time read the official guide religiously.

Honestly, those official guides don't do much anymore. The complaints are all over Reddit in fact. I covered the OG, Big Book and I can confidently say those guides aren't a representation of how technical the real test is. I took the test a couple of hours ago and it was honestly a bloodbath.
He'll be better off practicing Magoosh hard quants. For the verbal, familiarize yourself with tough comprehension passages 'cos you'll by no luck get any easy passage.

My 2cents.

The usual. Use all Manhattan 6 books for Quant, Kaplan For Verbal, follow GRE official guilds, join GRE forums and YouTube channels. Read ooo! And give yourself time to prepare. I started GRE preparation since June and I had to reschedule my exam at a point.

Thanks bro. Particularly, how did you prepare for the verbal. Those vocabs are my major issue.

I recently wrote GRE and had 329. (v;161, Q;168). I’m waiting for the official result to be released but I’m very worried about the Analytic writing part. I started with that and I’m not sure I aced it. Still waiting on the official result.

Congratulations Chief!
Can you pls share any preparation tips?

Gregmat was really helpful for Verbal. Also tried to study and memorize some GRE word lists I found online. [Full Disclosure - I took the SAT earlier in my life so I have some experience with these sorts of questions].
Didn't really study for Quant. Just did the practice test the night before. I'm an Engineering graduate so the Quant section was relatively easy for me.

Wrote the actual GRE on Friday.
Unofficial scores were 165 - Verbal and 168 - Quant.
The key thing to note, I think, is that the questions on my actual GRE were significantly more difficult than the questions on the practice test I took (which was also from ETS, by the way).

Taking the GRE was a bit of an emergency for me as I realized pretty late that I would need it for a scholarship I wanted to apply for. I could only spare 16 hours from work to prepare (essentially taking two days off - the day before the test and the actual test day). Definitely wouldn't recommend this for anyone else.

My advice:
Prepare better than you think you need to. Don't get comfortable because you're getting your desired score on the practice test(s). It's possible for your actual test to be a lot more difficult. In my case, I was really going for 335+ and it seems I fell short by 2 points.

Congratulations Chief!
If you don’t mind, what did you study specifically in Gregmat for the verbal. I have a subscription too but work pressure won’t let me follow the two months’ plan religiously and I have to write the exam in like a month.

P.S: I’m also an engineering graduate so the quant might not be so big an issue for me. However, the verbal can. What would you recommend pls?

Thanks

Hi pocohantas, amazing thread I must say. I have a couple questions though. Do you have any idea how much it costs to get a cabana/seating area with shade for about 40 people on the main beach? Also, any idea if they allow bonfires for people staying on the beach overnight?
Sorry for the many questions lol but do you have maybe a contact there that I can call?

Thanks.

Since march; This stuffs are unpredictable. My package was doing tour around china for more than a month; moving from one warehouse and carrier to the other before it was now finally sent to Nigeria.

Don't be surprised if you just receive a call anytime from the delivery guys. I once had my package at "Dispatched To Overseas" whereas Nipost has already called me to come and collect it; had to manually mark the order as complete because the thing did not even change from "dispatched to overseas" even after i got the package from Nipost

Thanks a lot. I’m actually expecting a Payoneer MasterCard which normally takes 2-3 weeks to get to Nigeria - from past experiences and from that of my colleagues. One got his in less than 15 days sef. The only challenge here is the lockdown was effected before the said 2-3 weeks and my suspicion is that it had been stuck at the sorting centre coz it took 5 days from that 16th of March for it to get to Nigeria.

And yeah, about all that routing, the tracking details already showed how it left US, to UK, then I think Germany and Russia or so.
