But looking at it from his point of view, what option did he have? He wanted children and his wife was barren. Divorce is a no go area for a pastor. Polygamy is a no go area for a pastor. Do you want him to die childless? I could identify with his feelings. The only point I disagreed with was the secrecy, but then again, he might have lost the income from his church, so that too is understandable. Sometimes, we tend to push off dealing with a problem until it magnifies beyond our control.

When I was explaining to some people about how necessary polygamy is recently, a contractor working on our land told me he has had a secret second wife for almost twenty years, but he can't tell his first wife whom he says is childless. He has two children 15 and 12 from the second wife. I said he has a duty to be honest and tell her, but he insists that the first wife mustn't know because he's a pastor in his church and she'll tell his congregation. It is this kind of destructive behaviour that leads to tragedy in the end.
