Everyone knows she can be filled with rage and go to drastic measures and make irrational decisions at times, but have her commit such atrocities? There must be better reasons to make her burn down the city than that.

And this is what the show runners had to say about that:

What kind of silly excuse was that

The show runners are just hunting for shock value now and they got it. Because most people are just shocked at how low the show has descended.

This is the conclusion of the matter. They just destroyed her character. There was absolutely no reason for her act like that. I blame the writers 100%

As far as prophecies go, it was close but not accurate. Still better than the PTWP prophecy that divided the GoT fanbase for years.

There was no such prophecy on the show as far as I remember.

They have spoilt Dany's character because they were in a haste to wrap up.

Even if they wanted to make her mad, they should have built her up to that stage.

Dany got sad in Astapor/Mereen/Yunkai (not sure anymore) when the slave masters crucified kids and ordered that all of them be crucified in turn for each kids killed.
How can such a person suddenly become a merchant of destruction killing women and children with reckless abandon. Doesn't add up.

I remember back when in s01e02 when he implied that he knew that Jaime and Cersei were involved in Bran's fall from the tower. Cersei asked him whose side he was on, he replied:

"You know I would do anything for my family"

I also remember his look of concern when the Dothraki and Drogon were decimating the Lannister army in s07, even before Jaime charged at the wounded Drogon. The guy is very much still a Lion at heart.

But he sanctioned the attack on Casterly Rock no?

I hope not to experience this. A sudden drop in altitude made me really scared on my first ever flight. Wonder how I would feel during serious turbulence.

At this point, the best explanation is that he is deliberately sabotaging Dany's plans in order to save the life of his sister. He wants Cersei to live.

He made mistakes (who doesn't), the effects of which have been greatly exaggerated.

Right now, there is no better strategist alive on the show. He learnt from the best -- his father.

I don't get why she takes both dragons so close together, like why? when only you can say Dracarys, why hasn't she trained anyone else?

If it comes to battle Dany will lose... So Arya or Jamie will probably kill Cersei off battle.
