"For the umpteenth time, I wish to reiterate that no Federal Government palliatives were delayed and none was kept in Ede Warehouse. The consignments we got from the FG have since been distributed.

"Only CACOVID palliatives were housed in Ede Warehouse and we were asked to wait for the flag-off, hence, our inability to distribute before they were looted", Jimoh said.
The privileged benefactors decided to delay their own voluntary philanthropy, the hungry beneficiaries insisted it is their birthright and must be looted.

Who is right and who is wrong?

Discuss.

Politics › Re: CACOVID Statement On Looting Of COVID-19 Palliatives by Throwback: 9:36pm On Oct 27, 2020
The sheer scale of this nationwide food programme and the timing of the orders and deliveries, which coincided with the lockdowns and reduced movement across the country, compelled CACOVID to roll out distribution in a staggered manner, with States classified in three timed phases, to enable orderly delivery to the needy.

At the time CACOVID embarked on the palliatives effort in April 2020, we decided to procure the food directly from the manufacturers, to avoid a distortion of prices in the market. The food package was designed such that each of the nearly 2 million vulnerable families received: a 10kg bag of rice, a 5kg bag of garri/maize flour/semolina, one carton of pasta, two cartons of noodles, 5kg of sugar and 1kg of salt.

Unfortunately, the very large size of the order, and the production cycle required to meet the demand, caused delays in delivering the food items to the States in an expeditious manner; hence the resultant delay in delivery of the food palliatives by the State Governors.
Those who did not contribute 1 kobo of their own money will still hate the rich donors and the CACOVID team for not telling/writing the type of tale they wanted to hear/see.

If any state shared CACOVID palliative earlier than September, it was because they got their own supply earlier.

Let us not disown our commonsense, even when some states (Lagos and Cross River) have shown evidence of how recently they got their own supplies.

Seunmsg, this is the confirmation much anticipated.

There is a reason no reasonable protester wants to be identified as the leader of the protests.

It is this same reason none of them wanted to speak up on CNN despite the news channel reaching out to a couple of them, until Falz and Aisha Yesufu took up the challenge.

It is the same reason it took some time to get these 2 mentioned protesters (Rinu and Majekodunmi) as the members of the panel. I assure you that they were not the only ones contacted.

Let me not keep you in suspense.

No rational, record processing, data reviewing human can successfully lead a mob of irrational, illogical and unreasonable Nigerians, and not later become the enemy of your own mob.

You agree to anything from their perceived opposition, you are a sell out who has compromised.

You ask critical questions upon review of hard facts and evidence, they term you as evil minded who has joined the oppressors.

Any decision or conclusion that does not feed them the flesh of their enemies, you are a traitor.

Save to say a mob does not believe in any justice except their own, and they will also instill fear in any member of the mob who might want to evolve any critical thought.

Take this to the bank, Rinu and Majekodunmi have by this sane decision to be part of an investigative panel, demystified themselves as members of a mob and will no longer be welcomed by the time this panel is done discharging its duties.

Some have already began laying the foundations of their excommunication, claiming anyone who is part of this panel would be swimming in money when the task is done.

If you are sane enough, avoid any fraternity with an irrational, data rejecting and intelligence hating mob. A mob doesn't want to be calmed or proven to that they reacted based on misinformation or incomplete data.

A mob is always right, so Rinu and Majekodunmi must ensure that only beer parlour resolutions emanate from that panel, as no one really is interested in the truth because unfounded conclusions have long been reached.

You sincerely but unfortunately thought the hypocrite cared about anyone besides his life long ambition to become democratic President.

He fooled many of us who know it is not an anomaly to have a country with an efficient and responsive government, where corruption is a taboo.

How can a President be so useless that even his family suffer his uselessness and are being pushed around in Aso Villa by extended family that should have no business residing there?

How can a President receive a much anticipated and long overdue report on SARS reform since June 2019, yet he couldn't bring his useless self to implement the report until those who had realised how useless human life is regarded by the government, burnt down scarce infrastructure and looted one another?

The same way he was sleeping while Saraki was plotting how to hand over the National Assembly to the useless and sacked PDP.

Palliative Hunters own everything in Nigeria.

We are only temporary custodians until those whose birthright it is by virtue of poverty break down the door.

Use of thugs as guards now sound right in an Adamawa State currently under the siege of thugs who were up to Monday morning still either looting or conveying their loot home and blocking roads in some remote communities to see if they could find hapeless residents with valuables to steal from.

This should be avoided by accepting what has happened already is irreparable.

Has anyone disproved that palliatives were supplied in May? Have they not been shared out already?

Are you not seeing the evidence of the supply done in September/October?

Or because some states or all states got in May, they must not get again in September?

Did Punch News know that there will be Palliative Hunters when it published the CACOVID delivery to Lagos state in September?

Why can’t CACOVID issue a press statement to clear the air? If CACOVID and the Nigeria governors forum had issued a joint press statement explaining why some of the palliatives are still in the warehouse immediately after the Lagos incidence, maybe the madness wouldn’t have spread to other states. But they all kept quiet thinking what happened in Lagos would be an isolated incident. Sadly, it has gone out of hand. I have seen pictures of people looting UN properties in Calabar today under the guise of looking for palliatives.
But the newspapers actually carried the news of the recent supply, but people just wanted to believe that a wicked government has wronged them, so when the respective state governments brought out their evidence to confirm the recent supply, many refused to accept that they were wrong.

Nice to see that they have been repackaging it for 1 month now (since the article is September 24th). Anyway, the masses has already helped themselves so mission accomplished (sort of).

Next time the NGO who raised the money should distribute it themselves.
While this specific news was published on 24th September, it was reporting an event that happened 22nd September.

Funny enough, Lagos State has been sharing theirs since 1st October up till 3rd October, after which it was paused until they were stolen by a few masses.

The evidence of the sharing was also released by the state government showing handover to representatives of some sociocultural groups.

I see your wrote up.

However, if you go through my posts, you will discover I have never supported any form of looting.

My major concern was what led to it.

Government handled the #ENDSARS protest as an opposition antics and paid lip service as usual to it. Check my pictures with dates of when Buhari started promising police reform and ending of SARs

They insisted they don't want lip service but action and we know how government reacted.

Hiring thugs and sending soldiers to what can be solved by dialogue and implementing what was asked for.

It first started as anger over the killings till palliatives were discovered at Oba of Lagos house.

I cannot supporting looting of any kind even if the palliatives was not even recently brought.

Looting is a crime and many states will soon start prosecuting some hungry Nigerians arrested in the act.

Our political leaders also don't have the ear of the hungry masses as it's not election time when they come to share stipends.

Since you sound very sane, if you were the president or Governor now, what will you do differently?
I do not support any government that allowed its own citizens be harassed for years with loud complaints without any corrective actions.

What I would have done was to be responsive and prompt, without allowing a panel report on the same matter gather dust since June 2019.

I will never use the Army to settle any internal security crisis. I will never do that.

For palliatives during the thick of the lockdown, I would ensure a more "auditable" distribution was done from the state government up to the local governments.

Also the BVN/bank records can be easily employed to show who is struggling at what age, and with the registered addresses, deliver palliatives to recipients who are already known.

Artisans, market sellers and daily blue collar workers can be easily reached through their unions and associations.

Some of these steps were already being mapped out and implemented in Lagos since the 1st of October from the evidences released by Lagos State.

But some hoodlums have decided they deserve it all.
