Men of the Nigerian Army have killed 63 insurgents in two different encounters with suspected terrorists in Borno State. The Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen Chris Olukolade, said in an electronic mail to our correspondent in Abuja on Monday that the insurgents were killed at Alafa Forests, 21 kilometers from Bama, the scene of the gruesome attack by the Boko Haram two weeks ago, and Lake Chad Islands. Olukolade said while 56 insurgents were killed at Alafa, seven lost their lives to another military offensive at the Lake Chad Islands. Olukolade added that two soldiers sustained injuries in the two attacks put in place to track fleeing insurgents in the area.. He explained that the military authorities had carried out ground and aerial assaults on the insurgents following intelligence report that they were making efforts to establish new camps in the forest. According to him, the operation which resulted in heavy casualty and material loss on the side of the insurgents, was still ongoing. He said, ” Nigerian security forces have launched ground and air operations on terrorists locations in the Forest at ALAFA, about 21km from Bama, Borno State. ” Over 56 terrorists died in the ensuing intensive fight over the weekend. Two soldiers were wounded in the operation which is meant to track fleeing terrorists… “Acting on intelligence reports which indicated renewed efforts by the terrorists to establish a new camp in the forests locations, the land and air operations has inflicted heavy casualty on the insurgents as indicated by the high level of their loss of men and materials. “Air and land bombardments are continuing in different locations where terrorists have been reportedly sighted.” |

http://247ureports.com/alleged-nnpc-missing-fund-nigeria-will-take-10-years-to-recover-from-sanusis-mistakes-utomi/ Alleged NNPC missing fund: Nigeria will take 10 years to recover from Sanusi’s mistakes, Utomi The Nigerian economy is in grave danger of possible collapse, due mainly to wrong actions, decisions and comments of the governor of the Central Bank, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and if not urgently attended to the damage that he may leave after his tenure in office will take the nation’s economy more than 10 years to recover from. This was the view of a professor of political economy and Director of Lagos Business School, Prof Pat Utomi while reacting to the change of position by Sanusi in the investigation of the almost $50billion he alleged was missing from the coffers of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. Describing Sanusi as the wrong man for the job of the Central Bank governor because of his inability to control his emotions and lack of depth on some economic issues, Utomi wondered why Sanusi will always want to be the first to comment on critical national issues despite his sensitive position. Reacting to the change of position of Sanusi who had in a memo to President Goodluck Jonathan, which was leaked to the press, accused the government-owned oil firm, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, of systematically diverting over N8 trillion crude oil sales proceeds being sales proceeds between January 2012 and July 2013, Utomi cautioned Sanusi to watch his steps. Wondering if Sanusi is not aware of the implications of whatever he says about the economy, Utomi said, “the comments of a Central Bank governor can make an economy to collapse, the damage Nigeria has suffered from some of his mistakes will take the nation about 10 years to recover from.” “I have always told him when we were friends that the last person to comment on an issue like missing money in the economy should be the Central Bank governor, because the comment of a Central Bank governor can make the economy to collapse. “He cannot help himself, that is why I have always said that he is the wrong person for the job, because he reacts to emotion rather than thinking it through and if you are in such position you cannot afford such a luxury,” he said. |
Who killed Bola Ige? Oba... (if you say "sanjo" na you know oo!) |

Gambari kpaii Fulani! |
what was it you told me the last time: gambari kpaai Fulani. |
scorpio1: Turning on the news today, i saw Ngige and others complaining, if anyone rigged, i think it was APC that championed it, its just that they were thwarthed in some places and some of their tactics exposed(like the idemili Electoral officer that was handed over to the police after INEC discovered he was compromised and had been doing everything possible to do some shady deals with APC, idemili being Ngige's stronghold, government agencies had intelligence reports on all the plans).APC is taking electoral manipulations to a new level: perverting appeal court judges, rigging and thuggery, compromising electoral official. They are fast becoming a negative brand. |

lavivifubs: Sometime in 2009, I was fed up with an issue in my employment, so I tendered my resignation letter. It was rejected. I was called and spoken to by my boss and the anomaly taken care of.Thanks Lavi for this post. it may be rejected if a solution to your reasons may be found. Your employer may actually reject your resignation if in doing so you are taking responsibility for a fault that was not entirely yours. |

philips70: You are a pathological liar with that bolded statement. If they are not with him they would have sold out long ago. Or you don't know how long this has been on ground? Even with the siege of Dame in PH for how many days? My friend say what you know.just watch and see. even the speaker is not beholden to amaechi. they just want the two principals to reconcile amicably. did you see how the deputy gov tele ikuru was appealing to dipi? |
WIRInet, take it easy with the spin. odili wrangled amaechi in as gubernatorial candidate. obj scattered all odili's setup as he stopped odili's presidential ambitions. obj then let in omehia as guber candidate but the switch was not properly done and was overturned at the courts. all this talk of 5 against 22 is misleading. the rivers assembly men supporting amechi are not even up to 5. his core loyalist is just that Llyod of a killer. all the other members would go wherever the wind blows. |
this is a real picture. look at the details of the human beings in the foreground. no artist could do that kind of detail. look at, the I guess, mangrove bushes on the two sides. appreciate the details of the leaves. can any artist take that time and paint in such big clumps of bush? then the bush on the left sits on a sand bar which projects under the water to the middle. which artist could achieve such shadows. the only thing eerie about this image is the blue color of the water. the photographer must have waited for a perfect time to get this composition. |
Is the scout car Igirigi built on a 4X4 platform? It seems like a 2WD. |
the solution is diversification of power generation. the gas powered plants are susceptible to sabotage/failure. the gas supplies come from one source, the volatile niger delta. the hydro plants are susceptible to weather and the countries through which the rivers pass (Cameroun, Niger,) before getting to Nigeria. Nigeria needs to add coal powered plants to the portfolio. we have abundant coal. The US, China, RSA and many other world leaders are dependent on coal to meet their energy demands. We are only shooting ourselves in the foot if we do not use this natural resource under our feet. |
playmode, you are a big joke. pat utomi ?? even you would never vote for that man. I know you are a dummy but stop selling dummies. |
what you can learn from this: Governor Aregbesola cannot use his phone to do a video recording! Tinubu should send the guy back to school like the the Oga at the Top did to my guy. |
Hi All, The United States does not pay 'unemployed graduates' or any kind of 'unemployed' nada! However, when you are employed, you contribute to the unemployment benefit scheme. This contribution is used to take care of unemployed workers. And what you take out of it depends on how long you have worked and how much you earned and contributed to the scheme. If/when you get laid off, (or for some qualifying reasons become unemployed), you are eligible to cash in on unemployment benefits. if you just quit your job or for your direct fault(like steal in the workplace), lose your job, you do not qualify. if you never worked, you cannot benefit from this scheme. What Rochas is proposing is unsustainable, idiotic and, worst of all, communist! |

I have 2002 Toyota Sienna and I am surprised at the level of maintenance it needs. Every 3 months or 3000 miles I just go get an oil and oil filter change. Daz all! I guess the fuel filter was changed at 90,000 miles but the car is now close to 150,000 miles and I have not changed the brake pads since I got the car in 2007. Changing brake pads was a recurring decimal for me in Naija. I check the air filter myself and dust it off as needed. it has looked clean for the past 12 months. no need for even a dustoff. I guess I have been lucky. No major breakdowns. back in Naija, routine maintenance could eat you up. I had cars that did not have air filters. air filters were 'expensive' and the mechanics did not seem to mind the absence of one. I had to change plugs and fuel filters every 3 months. ( do not remind of having fuel pump failure and having to go to the used parts market). |
redsquare: Thanks for this timely piece. I just noticed the CHECK light showing on my dashboard. The car is just a 3weeks old 2001 Toyota Camry. Pls what does it mean? I know something is definetely wrong but i cant say what it is since i dont know much yet about cars.it could be a thousand and one things. it could be the air intake sensors. it could be the exhaust sensors. it could be the catalytic converter. I had that check engine light (cel) on my 2002 Toyota sienna. it turned out to be the charcoal canister. about $500 repairs. you need to (get mechanic who can) run diagnostics on the car. |
