@ Good quality work.
@ Willingness to try innovative work.
@ An actual artisan, not a supervisor or director.
@ Reasonably priced, I will compare prices locally. Nothing will please me more than to hire a fellow Nairalander but not at an unreasonable (my word) premium.
@ Prefer someone with camera phone and WhatsApp (I'll cover the data fees during my project for you).

As for my guy that did the fix,he advised me to wait till the raining season is over, then floor the compound so that the rain water will not be soaked in the soil and comes out inside the house.

What of the one that soaks outside the compound? please take that recommendation with a cup of salt!

Every house has a story , probably to be told on house opening day maybe in 2 mouths time. Take this as an invitation.

Oga I wish you well but to avoid disappointments the house will not be ready in 2 months time. Maybe the carcas will be ready. Even with unlimited funding, the finishing will take longer than that unless you want a rushed and shoddy job.

Also from what i have read so far I think its what direct communication between landlord and engineers can resolve amicably. Not every dispute has to be on social media.

I also hope you will comment on emerging information from the engineers but you guys should do that in private abeg. Stop entertaining people. These are not unusual construction site issues.

Don't throw good money after bad money. Stay all action till you get professional advice. When was the last time you visited this project? I am not sure you have been there recently.

please everyone. is there any way they can re- do the dpc of this house ? every effort has failed so far to stop the water entering , i dont like the [pattern of the house as well , are they solutions? if not for the parapet demolishing the house isnt a problem . what are they things i can do to increase the dpc ?thanks

You've been on this for some days. I am not sure this "online consultation" will help you much. Get one of the experieced guys or engineers here or elsewhere, and pay for their service for them to visit and do site inspection and proffer solutions. I am not sure about the quality of advice the picture you are posting will generate. I am curious however at how you got to this stage. Was it just the engineer saying he was sick while they were doing the foundation that got you here? Did you have a proper plan with both structural drawings and specifications?

From looking at the picture you sent, the problem with that house goes beyond the water. Take a closer look at the symmetry and you will see that not much professional care and attention was paid to this project.

Its sad but truth is that you need an experienced and qualified person to evaluate this project, onsite, and make recommendations which may cost you money.

You people should continue. I have brought out my encyclopaedia of engineering. I must understand what is being said today.

If you look at most older homes, even in the villages with wooden windows, most of them have that design with opening projected part.hot air rises, so you'll be able to vent "some" out naturally. And the casement lower windows offers 100% opening versus only 50% opening for the sliding ones.

Here are some pictures of the wholehouse fan, it's an extremely efficient and low-cost setup. I've used it here in the US and the difference it makes is outstanding.

One of my all time favorite books is "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. Great book. Just google it. PDF version is free on google.

Point to note. The more eager you want to get on with the build, the more you pay. Act as if you are not in a hurry and since they need the money, they will come down on their demand. Also dont give to the first set to come. Insist on seeing their leader, give them a date far into the future (like one month) and use the timw to do independent investigation on the authentic omonile. My three floor build in Akoka cost N200,000.00 extra due to Omonile.

The best way to deal with omo onile is to buy from gov period. The second best is to become omo onile yourself. When you are looking to buy in such crazy areas, first come and play in that area first. Eat dinner and drink at their local joints. Get to know who is the "Capo" and start doing the needy. Ones the know you and are familiar with you, then you tell one of them to help you look. Then you just show them the one you are interested in. They will look into it and guide you through. Thats how you become omo onile original!!!
