Law prince: I am compelled to agree with you. I believe everything still boils down to corruption. But I also opine that if the government can do their part, they will have the power to impose a strong check on the lectures also to perform their parts too diligently. The theory of checks and balance may also be inferred into the current issue. But when the head has failed, it obviously can't give the tail a direction.
Wif thinkers lyk you.....I see hope for this great nation

ghananotnaija: "Nigeria" and "great minds" and "renowned scientists" don't go together. Cognitive dissonance detected.

I'm not saying Ghana's are the best, if you have the money, go to US, UK or even India. But still Ghana is better than Nigeria no matter the rankings. So what we never produced a Chinua Achebe? We have a more civlised, functioning, and sane society and I'd rather have that than someone from my country winning an subjective Nobel literature award any day.
You have no point......the fact that we. Av challenges with our government doesn't make Ghana a better place to be, and relatively, ghana is jst lyk a state in Nigeria.... Go do your findings, some of our lecturers also lecture in prestigious uni in europe , asia and the us . If they aint good u think they will be recognized world wide..... There are so many great minds (graduates of naija uni)....if you av never been here....don't judge from afar.....an eight year old iraqi boy will tell a more concise story of the war in iraq than any smart journalist in the USA who base his/her facts on what the read in papers and hearsay.......

Ofcourse, moreover, I av a pc and we av almost free internet service everywhere in my sch ....so with google , eilibrary is possible)....infact I did two fantastic courses offered by HaRVARD and MIT thru www.EDX.org and am certified....so ur sch may still be struglin wif some few things....but wit time , u will get there....

Law prince: The worse disease that can afflict a person is for him to fail to identify his predicament.
The kind of blindness affecting those criticising ASUU definitely has no description to the knowledge of even science itself.
For those who per chance have their objective hats on, isn't that board at the front of the class a symbol that our university system is extremely lamentable, awful and unspeakable?
I'm certain not even the worse universities in Sudan or Liberia still puts on such a disgraceful look in this 21st century.
What else if not such an extreme decadence will be the reason for the rejection of even our PH.D graduates in advanced countries. We don't even have a chance to compete with the least developing country. It is a sarcasm to refer to many Nigerian graduates as 'Half Baked' while in reality there was no bakery at all.
We definitely don't need a less revolution by ASUU. Lets cover our various sentiments and selfishness for the sake of our future.
Well said......
But, does this really means govt has abandoned our unis for years, these uni reciv allocation from govt yearly, they generate funds too, like #20k and above acceptance fee and other internally generated funds......moreover, u will surely be a testament to the fact that most of our lecturers too show a very lethargic or a devil-may-care attitude towards effective teaching ....they mostly encourage rote learning......
So if their attitudes do not change, let govt pump 1trilion per month in to our edu system, you will see that it will amount to nothing.....ASUU must improve on the way they teach too......cos so far, they av only mention the prob on the part of govt....I hope they av discussed the ASUU issues too .....

ghananotnaija: Nigerian students: the universities in your country are really bad and their degrees don't mean much at all. They're not worth going.

If you had the money, you would've already gone to the West (US or UK) to study.

If you don't have money for that, consider going to Ukraine or India.

If even those places are beyond reach, go to Ghana, we have much better schools than Nigeria and we attract many talented Nigerian students. Who knows, you might even learn from Ghana how a civilised society functions, so that when you return to Nigeria (sorry, you cannot stay in Ghana after graduation), you may contribute to the development of your backward land.
Mention few renowned scientists or philosophers or literary experts that finished from ur so called precious uni and are recognized worldwide.......
Cos you sound lyk u av a perfect educational system...... Non of ur unversities appear on the world uni ranking.....atleast Makerere of uganda was ranked 719 as of last year and yet dem no dey make noise....... Keep ur unis..
am proud of our edu system , though I agree it has issues, but , trust me, the kind of nigerian uni I attend offers u abundant human and material resource ( including a very cheap and accesible internet, e-library)
Nb: learning is not limited to the four walls of classroom...no matter the case....Nigerian unis will continue to produce great minds .....

See judgemental comments.....pple and their sentiment.........
He is a gifted actor ,and smart enough to know wat is Good for him........Maria carey (43yrs) with a networth of $500million married to Nick cannon (33yrs) networth $30million, does that make nick a gold digger.....so many naija pple are still so inflexible and conservative ( that's why so many things are not practicable in naija)......once u find someone who u love and loves you back jst clinge to him/her cos you don't always find pple with a common chemistry .....

In Naija , a man must always marry someone younger and less financially bouyant ,else ,he is a GOLD DIGGER ....(Poor thinking)

We still practise a form of totalitarianism...
No one deserve such a disdainful, demeaning, derogatory, merciless treatment......for me the money doesnot commensurate or remove the stigma....this are the pple u govern....most of our governors thinks they are working, whereas, they are only doing things dat has little or no effect on the well being of a common man...and naija is full of lower class pple...so mostly our govt only set out to oppress pple...its nt jst Edo gov...they all do it...they jst more discreet abt it....shameful....this is definitely not democracy....and surely not a Gift from the GOD whom I serve...he wouldn't bless you thru such a horrible scenario...can't stop thinking abt the way that woman weeped profusely in front of children and the gov himself....as knowledgible as he is...so poor

RomanceRe: Nigerian Men Don't Give Flowers To Us: Why? by tmtech:
naija men ask : ladies wat do you want
Naija ladies respond: we don't know
Naija men: when do you want it
Naija ladies: now!!!!!!!!!!!

The fact is, for a naija guy who really cares ,it quite cumbersome to keep ur girl truely happy ....cos , as a matter of fact, everything is not abt money( though money is essential).....ladies ussually assume you no their needs ,rather than ask........me dey try....infact I lyk the complexity of naija ladies.......studying them is really interesting........
Bottom line is, men are generally not so romantic.......you av to train ur man 2 no know ur needs.........
Science/TechnologyTwo Swedes Develop Invisible Bike Helmet | by tmtech(op): 3:49pm On Dec 04, 2013
If you can’t stand wearing a helmet when riding your
bike, the engineers behind Hövding helmets in Sweden
claim to have found the solution. After years of research
and countless amounts of simulation crash testing, the
researchers have discovered that the most aesthetically
pleasing way to protect your head might be to not have
anything on your head at all—but rather, your neck.
Okay, so maybe it doesn’t use refracted light patterns
and a complex series of mirrors to make all your bike
helmets vanish. Basically, it’s a fashionable neck brace
that blends in with your winter jacket. Just imagine
wearing a really bulky scarf, which you could probably
describe as invisible as long as you live in cooler
climates.
The helmet’s protective functions kick in only when a
moment of blunt force occurs. So let’s say you’re on
your bike and happen to get sideswiped by a passing
car. As you begin to lose stability and teeter over, the
helmet will recognize your sudden movement and eject
an airbag that instantaneously surrounds your head and
sides of your face before you make contact with the
ground.
So instead of feeling self-conscious about how you look
riding your bike with a giant helmet on your head, the
new Hövding helmet will only make you self-conscious
during and after a moment of sudden impact. You can
buy your own style of Hövding helmet over at their
website for a cool €399 (that’s about $535).

Entertainment10 Most Facebook-addicted Countries On Facebook by tmtech(op): 6:01pm On Nov 22, 2013
With Facebook crossing the 1 billion user-line fresh in
our minds, we decided to release the statistics that
indicate which countries have the most active Facebook
Pages.
We found out that although the United States is the most
populous Facebook country with the greatest number of
registered Facebook Pages, higher activity on those
Pages can be found in other countries.
Our findings show that Pages in Brazil publish the most
number of posts out of all Facebook countries. More
than 800 Pages that we monitored kept their Facebook
walls busy with almost 86 thousand posts per month! On
average, this means 103 posts per Page, which is the
fifth highest after Italy, Colombia, Russia and Egypt.
Pages in Egypt publish 380 posts on average per Page
per month; however, they have almost 6X fewer Pages
registered than in Brazil and almost 8X less than in the
United States.
Facebook Pages from Turkey are doing great in terms of
posting activity. Turkey is the 7th biggest country on
Facebook and its users seem to appreciate their local
businesses social endeavors. With 758 Facebook
Pages, Turkey has the highest Page-to-user ratio out of
all Facebook countries.
When we look at Russia, this country shows the second
biggest per capita posting activity on Facebook. With
Russia being one of the few countries where Facebook
isn't a major player in social media, the Page posting
frequency implies great potential for further Facebook
growth.

We still find it difficult to integrate culture and westernization(liberalism)......our culture is not preserved in anyway ,becos it is has an inseparable bond with our traditional religion.....buh, there are still so many specimen of the past in this generation.....our elders only clamour for the propagation of our culture ,then they make little or no attempt to lead by example.......its the culture thing that encourages totalitarialism in which lecturers act like God,politicians, managers jst name it....it all boils down to culture(subservience)......Our elders use culture as a yardstick to siphon our treasury and get away with it.......
