Right back at you! You will never be good!

You better raise your kids to be like bobrisky.
it can go right back to anyone including you. I wonder where you got the inspiration of your name Descartes from cuz you're neither a critical thinker nor a philosopher. How well do you think you will raise your own kids? You think Bobribisky's parents thought him from childhood to be a crossdresser? Whatever way you choose to raise your kids, how sure are you that when they grow up they won't choose another life path? If you don't think thru some of these things then parenting is NOT for person like you cuz either you raise disasters or you die distastefully. You don't even seem like you have anything tangible to offer the future generations!

Great point here. However, I dont thing the loss of those skills is due to social media. It has to do with our substandard educational system especially at primary and secondary school level.

Hello Everyone, happy Sunday.
Please, I wanted to seek for your advice. How possibly can one get an emergency travel document or new passport from the Nigerian High commission in Canada? I am a very worrying situation where the UK Visa Office is having processing delays and can't seem to return my passport. I NEED to travel outside of Canada in the middle of next week for a very important reason.

Good evening
Is there anything like Temporary Residence With Work permit visa in Canada
Yes. I can confirm student visas or study permits fall under this category. Students studying in Canada are considered temporary residents. Then, study permits have a work permit that allow students to work 20 hrs/week during school period and unlimited hours during school break. Students may work more than 20hr during school year only if such job, for instance , a research job is directly related to or required in thier program.
RomanceRe: Why You Should Never Underrate Someone You Meet For The First Time by toboy: 8:35pm On Mar 01, 2019
Nice! But this poster's ideology is entirely flawed. You don't need to meet a wealthy person before you realise you need not underrate people when you meet them the first time. Your loyalty changed because you realized this person was a dignitary. You shouldn't underrate people nomatter who they are. Judging from the your attitude in your story, if it was someone not so well-off, you would have totally snubbed the person. An ordinary person today can become a doctor, a governor, lawyer, or even stand-by person that can impact your life positively tomorrow. I don't know why some people think only wealthy people if worth their attention. Very stupid and short-sighted!

Ask America how they became world greatest nation today, it's in their slogan 'in God we trust '. Ask Israel why your brothers in the middle east can't defeat them even if they all gang up together all of them plus you Yoruba Muslims.

You Yoruba don't have God in your hearts, to you anything goes. That's why Hausas call you belerabe. God forbid una. Skull mining you are number 1, Islam come you are number1, Christianity come you are number 1, this means you are making merchandise of religion that's all, no serious commitment.
Child of God! I rebuke you piece of shitt!! Your mumuism is beyond compare. On top of that, you also have inferiority complex. "in God we trust gini?" You want to USA as the basis of your argument forgetting that same-sex marriage is legal in the USA. Why did that God not curse them?. Isreal is the most same-sex tolerant country in the middle east and yet that same God did not curse them. Those countries have set their priorities right and focus their energy on technology, research, science, and development . You see how shallow thinking you can be. All this your foolish religious mindset will not lead you anywhere. Child of God, your bible story told you not to judge so that you will not be judged, so, stop pointing your aka enwe at other people, its none of your business. For your information, the question you should be asking yourself everyday is how to improve yourself to become better tomorrow; How to gain more knowledge to understand the world, How to feed your family, and how to support your family member. Not how to judge other people based a book that was passed down to you by a white supremacist and slave masters during colonization. Religion is a personal journey between you and your creator. You must never use that as a common ground when dealing with other people cuz everyone does not confess to the same faith. That makes you the same as Jihadist Olodo!!

You have a very low mentality and lack basic reasonability. We have been worshipping this God since colonization and see where we still are. How many more years do you want to continue before you start thinking straight like a higher animal. With all the curses and hardship that exists in Nigeria already, common sense should tell you that either we have been praying to a wrong God or that they misinformed us right from the beginning. Anyone who refuses to use thier sense will wallow in ignorance till they die, thier body will decay and turn into ashes and life will continue. You should focus more of your energy on improving yourself and your family, as against pointing your stinking and closed-minded fingers at other people.

I'm in interested in knowing how the rules are enforced, basically the reality on ground.
It's better you obey all these rules accordingly. The enforcement agency might not come and knock on your door but when you start filling for tax returns or child support benefits a problem can arise. I am not 100 percent sure but I think the enforcement agency can detect it from your lease which indicates the number of rooms you rent ( Landlord might also submit your lease when they file for thier own tax returns). For instance, If you already indicate you have 3 children or claim child support for three children, meanwhile you're renting a one-bed room appartment, they can detect you're disobeying the rule. Its better you follow the rule and avoid any setback. Therr is nothing like reality or unreal Canada. All the rules will be enforced in one way or another.

I could connect you with my friend in terms of your admission chances, but then, Concordia is a great university to study journalism. Quebec pronvince is an adorable place to settle in, especially if you are willing to learn french. Why are you interested in Journalism? haven't come across any African folk into that specialty. There was this article that explains how climate change alters the Nigerian climate. In raining season will suffer bigger flooding. In dry season, the dryness our wind makes our environment more fire prone. Unfortunately we need to invest in more efficient drainage and fire hazard reduction services. Otherwise we will continue to see higher incidents of flooding and fire breakouts.

I am still wondering how a white man can say this to a black person in 2018 in Canada.
People had lost their careers because of allegations of racism. But here we have a brother who is even proud to proclaim on Nairaland that a white man had opened up himself to him
You have been spending alot to time in a formal work environments where most white people are sharks in white gloves.

Congo is Right. If someone said that to toboy in his face, the man is a joke to them. The prime minister can't say that to my face even off camera. He'd be too scared. White canadians are very covert with their racism. Their specialty is smiling and stabbing you in the back without you knowing it. Them letting you know They re racists gives us a strategic advantage to be able to defend ourselves. They don't like that. If a white man said that to my face I'm either taking my employer to court, or he gets punched in the face if there's no witnesses around. But They re not walking away without some sort of consequence.
Black people been punching since time immemorial and last time I checked, Black folks has the highest number of incarceration in US for instance. If we gonna win a war against racism. it wont be by throwing punches at ignorant white people. We need an investment into a calculated steps and strategy than can enable black folks break the system that feeds racists.

In 2018, most if not all white in North America will be extremely careful to say this to a black person, very afraid indeed . But for a white person to summon the courage to tell you this about your race, that tells me a lot about you. You must be an extreme pushover, that is the only way this can happen. He took you for a dumb. He had sensed that you have an extreme low self esteem toward white people. And you even told him you understood him. Com'on now!

Personally, no white will ever tell me this poo in my face.

And this is the rubbish you come to post on Nairaland (a mostly black forum).
Some black will go to the extend of selling their family and culture in the man of what the white man had said.
He! he! Your type will not do well at all in global affairs! Your high estimation of yourself and your incoherent analogy of ideas is quite mediocre. And you wonder why up till today, many white people still internalise some of dumbest racial stereotypes and bias about other race. Racism is a vicious system that was instituted by decades of colonization and cultural hegemony. Such vicious cycle works best when people internalize bias because it is in the nature of racism to blind people, especially white people, about systemic oppression. If people around you don't trust you enough to confine in you then that is your own personal problem, not mine. Can we even be a bit clearer on this culture you blabbing. Sell their culture. "which culture" is being sold here?

Naturally I wouldn't like to get into this argument, but I think you are getting some things wrong. I'd wager that's because of your cultural (or religious?) background, so it's almost acceptable. However, it doesn't mean that you are correct.

Your position would have been totally innocent, except you aren't admitting there's a twist to it. For someone like you who preaches respect, but secretly disapproves of their lifestyle, you run the risk of denying them their right to freedom of expression.
Thank you so much for this input. It is important that people understand that their personal biases and ignorance, or "choices" about certain issue is not an excuse because they do have real-life consequence on other human beings. I really like the example with a white landlord. I have had something similar. I had a conversation with a white person who says they respect black people but then he finds black people are "dirty, primitive, and violent people". To unpack this racial stereotype, I told him I understand why he might feel that way due to the socialization and misrepresentation of black people in North America. But then, we have come along way; beginning from the era of slave trade and colonisation till now, we have been able to understand that all humans, including black people can be clean, smart and law abiding if they had equal opportunity to thrive. And for that, such false ideology about black people is entirely incorrect and unacceptable. Even though this person feel he respects black, his bias can influence his judgement during referendum, voting, job hiring, policing, etc. that affects black people .
The same analogy can be applied to homosexuality. Oppression against homosexuality has always been based off religion(which was imposed on us Africans a form of cultural hegemony by our colonial masters, in the first place). Let us begin by humbling our ignorance. Homosexuality exist in all culture. When two consenting adults finds love in themselves, it is NOT in your opinion or right as a straight man to approve or disapprove their relationship, just as the same way a typical queer person would not judge straight relationship by saying "they respect straight men, but don't approve men being intimate with women".
This is the way racism and many other form of unwarranted oppression functions. It beings when some group or society thinking their cultural norms or religious bleif is the best for everyone else and therefore that everyone follow it. How are you going to convince a white supremacist about racial oppression when you as a black person think you have the right or personal choice by convincing yourself to think of another person as evil because of their sexuality. Mais quel putain de merde!

Hard drugs.
What I have learned from working in a harm reduction affiliated office. People who do recreational drugs are fine as long as they dont drive or operate machines. At this level, i think its still a matter of personal choice. You know! things you can do to chlil alone, with friends or homies around, or spice up that thing. Hard drugs, one the other, are regulated because they distort mental processes and under the influence of such drugs, people can cause grave harm not only to themselves, but also to those around them. Further, cases of hard drugs and their addiction usually stern from underlying problems such as mental health, physical or psychological trauma, loss of loved ones or an opportunity that make people hopeless and lure people into drugs. This period, I think it has gone beyond an informed personal choice. its more or less an escape from something.
What they thought us about harm reduction (which I am still trying to wrap my head around) is that people who are committed to taking drugs for various reason will find ways to do drugs. It might be better off not stigmatizing them into hiding (For instance, by mere telling such people you don't approve their choices will make them keep to themselves.). As such, they will be willing to open up about their underlying problems and get the right help they need.

Thank you so much joo2018.
This question is beyond the scope of this thread.

It is all about mutual respect in Canada. So long as I don't harrass homosexual or discriminate against them, no one should ask me why I don't agree with homosexuality.

To agree or not to agree with homosexuality is a personal choice. What matters is mutual respect and acceptance.
He! He! I definitely respect your personal choice. I was only asking to learn. I didn't know it was an opinion personal to you. For me, what I have learned lately giving our limited rationality to understand some of the complex things happening in our world is to state that 'I do not have enough information or knowledge to make an informed decision or opinion about topics like this'. For instance, you mentioned 'those things our ancestors knew nothing about'. Societal norms are not static, they are dynamic. Our ancestor knew nothing about some other things. They killed twins, performed human sacrifice (still today), Female Gender mutilation etc. Some of the technologies and religious affiliation that we have normalised today, our ancestors knew nothing about them. Not that I don't value our ancestral heritage, but It will be faulty to pick one issue and say that our forefathers knew nothing about it. That is my own personal opinion oo
