Good evening guys... Please I've been hearing about Mpower loan in this platform oh but this is my first time of hearing such, Can someone please explain what it is about and maybe drop Links.. Thanks guys
Just Google MPower financing, and click on their main website, you'll get a lot of information from the site.

Summary - they only support schools in US and Canada. If your school is not in the list, you can't apply.

I already deposited some fund$ to my dollar acct before leaving.

Alternatively, when you arrive you can download a financeApp eg (LemonadefinanceApp), where you will fund your Naira wallet via bank transfer through your Nigeria bank account then covert the NGN to CAD wallet still in the app and transfer to your Canadian account via interac e transfer.

Also, I heard there is a Nigerian group where people exchange naira to cad but at your own risk.

Please, is it at official rate or black market rate?

Good morning my people, please what do you suggest I can do:
I applied August, didn’t get anything till February, then the ordered for my gcms note and started sending emails and webforms, a day after I ordered for gcms, medical request came, that was February 25th, couldn’t get a slot at qlife till March 10th, my medicals was sent by 22nd of march and has been passed, my gcms note came and have already passed eligibility, info sharing completed, meaning I’ve passed all stage, but it’s been 2 weeks since I passed medicals and ppr never drop
My resumption date is May 9, and I’m supposed to resume like a week earlier for documentation....I have deferred my admission once, I’m just worried ehn, the wait is draining me

Please, bombard them with emails every single hour. You've passed every single thing already, PPR must drop so that you can resume this may... If Nairobi is handling your application, then focus on Nairobi, Abuja and Lagos office.

Hmm...like how much do they have in their account. And how's their application like? I mean, what and what do they included in their application, aside the money to make their application success?

Thanks for your response.
There's no specific amount I can mention, because it depends on 2 things
1. How much loan you receive from Mpower, and
2. The total amount needed for your study.

Here is an example.
If the total amount needed for your study (tuition and living expenses) is $30,000, and Mpower give you everything, then you may show some reasonable amount in your account, just to proof to the VO you have something too. Let's say about 1m or more

We've seen fully funded/scholarship applicants that showed just 150k or 250k and got rejected.

The main thing is, either loan or scholarship, prove to the VO you have substantial amount of money too.

Hello guys, hope we are all fine.

I'd like to know if there's anybody that has tried using the MPower financing loan for funding and got visa approval.

Thank you all.

I await your response.

I've seen about 3 people on this thread that used it and got approved. But I noticed they also added their personal account with some reasonable amount in it.

Hopeful2019:
Hi friends, I am applying for student permit using the new portal and was asked the following questions. I need help in answering them please.

1. Tuition fee (in Canadian dollars) (required)
(This is the total fees to be paid to the school for the duration of the program (all years of study))

2. Room and board (in Canadian dollars) (required)
This is the total amount for food and lodging for the duration of the program (all years of study).

3. Funds available for stay in Canada (in Canadian dollars) (required)

My concern: If I add the total fees to be paid for the duration of the program it will exceed the current funds available for stay in Canada for one year. You will agree with me that it is somewhat impossible to have the total fees to be paid to the school for all the years of study sitting in the account. I want clarification please! Here are my details;
The total year of study is 2 years.
Tuition fees 23000 CAD (one year)
Room and Board: 10000 (one year based on cic website)
Funds Available: 41000 CAD

Looking forward to your response. Thank you all
If you are self-sponsor, then you must show funds that will cover the 2 years of study, including living expenses.

But if someone is sponsoring you, according to IRCC, they must show that funds are available for your first year of study and be able to show that you will have an equivalent amount for the subsequent year(s); either through their business, payslip, fixed-income, or other acceptable means.

I have a pdf information on study permits' instruction designed by IRCC Dakar office. All these information are inside. You can reach out to me through mail, I'll forward it to you if you need it.

They've already made a final decision and it's 100% PPR, they'll soon update it for you. At the same time, send mails to them, especially that of Abuja

If you're resuming in May, go and book your ticket and start packing your load. Canada is calling you.

How does IRCC calculate it if your program is 1 year? Do they calculate it that you must pay half of the tuition fees or you are still required to pay the full 1 year even when your program is 1 year?

Hello,

They are not specifically concerned if you paid or not, but logically, paying for a semester or full year means that your intention to study is legit and that could systematically convince the VO, which would increase chances of PPR if other things in your application are well placed.

Please I’m presently preparing my application too, I gain admission to Holland college to study Tourism and travel management, I am an HND graduate of public administration. I have home ties, my house documents in my name, my land documents too, my dad is my sponsor with closing balance of #,7,800,000( $22,000), my fear now is my proof of fund please, the first year tuition is approximately 11k and hostel accommodation is $5,700 that’s roughly 17k and plus the 10k requirement 27k, I don’t know if can still submit my application with the 22k that I have , please help me. I have good home ties just the funds to proof, I didn’t put accommodation in place before, I was working on tuition and 10k minimum requirement
First of all... Besides your tuition, you calculated $5700 for hostel and another $10,000 too. You've over-calculated your expenses.

If your tuition is $11k, what you need next is $10k for living expenses. That is $21k for a year.

Now, according to IRCC site, if your program is 2 year, you only need to show funds for the first year and state how the second year will be taken care of. Either by business, regular salary or other income. But you need to convince the VO with documents to support that.

Concerning your Dad's account, it depends on how you give strong evidence of what your Dad does. You may pay for 1st semester and make sure you have some money in your account. If your Dad is into business, proof that there are steady money to take care of you especially if your program is 2 years.

With that you may be lucky enough and satisfied the VO with your convincing statement and documents

Good morning house.

Please I need advice. I am going to be funded 21,000 cad but my tuition+10k cad living expenses= 26,000 cad/year.

1. I don't have money and neither does my dad, I plan on having my uncle send him 3 million to complete the balance of the living expenses and he sends me a gift deed to explain the lump sum in my bank statement. But I don't show his own bank statement so they don't see he got a lumpsum himself. Would this be a problem or should I just have my uncle send to me and show his account statement and mine.

2. Since most of the money is from funding, would I still need to declare I'm being sponsored or say I'm self sponsored while my dad or uncle just gave that extra money to help.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated @ketima @frankrobbn @makano @technix and anyone else who has an input

The best option is to let your uncle send to your Dad, and your Dad send to you and do a gift deed. With a gift deed from your Dad you don't need to show his or your uncle's bank statement. Just your own bank statement with a gift deed from your Dad is enough.

Now, in your SOP under POF section, explain in a tabular form the total cost of your study and living expenses, remove the fund you got and state that it'll remain so so amount. Show that the remaining amount + miscellaneous is in your bank statement.

Tips - Don't just write it as a sentence, do it in a tabular form so that the officer will be able to see and caught his attention (it's very important)

- make sure the money that'll be in your account as gift deed, covers at least the 5k cad left + 3k extra

All the best

Thanks , i did all these you mentioned. I added a picture of us , his letter of sponsorship, and notarized gifts deeds.. Sponsor is my Marternal uncle and has paid almost half of my tuition deposit.
V.O noted that i didn't add birth certificate and Marriage certificate , sigh !

Also said i do not have money to support myself without the interference of Uncle , i an a 23years old and working , i currently have up to 200k in my account. Asides money for my study that uncle sent. Thank you , i await your futher inputs .

Sincerely, you've really tried with all you have done.

But with my own little understanding, I'll suggest that coupled with advice you were given, try to build your personal account before you apply.

The VO had concerns about your economic establishment to some degree. And truthfully, 200k naira is too small for your own personal account. Try to raise more money in the next 3-4 months before you apply.

You may ask your uncle to send some money to your mom or siblings and they will send to you and do a gift deed. VO will be likely more satisfied if it's coming from parent or siblings, in addition to your sponsorship from your Uncle. The VO noticed every single funds (sponsorship and gift deed) you showed if from your Uncle and that may be overwhelming.

If you think it'll be difficult to do it yourself, seek the help of gurus here, talk to Makano, Omiinii, Ketima and many others who have experience... You really need to get it right this time around and let it be your last application.

All the best

Here is what my notes says...
I am fully funded with 11,700cad left after school fees payment...

How do you think I can tackle this in my next application?
How many years is your program? If 11,700 will be left and it's more than a year program, there will be concerns.

Did you submit your bank statement, how much was available when you applied?

What other proof of economic establishment did you show?

These questions will help you to address the concerns before reapplying.

Hello everyone,
Please my passport is going to expire by September this year and I am already processing a new one.
Have gotten admission for fall 2022 and don't know if I should start applying for my study permit with my old passport or wait till I get the new one before applying. Note my date for capturing for passport is next week as I am currently in Lagos
I'll advise you to apply with the old one, and when you get the new one, you can send it through webform.

Waiting for the new passport can delay your visa application, Sept is around the corner o... And Nigeria immigration dey like to delay. It took 6 months before I got mine.

Please I heard starting from April, pcr test is no longer a requirement for fully vaccinated travelers...

Can anyone confirm this?

Also, does that mean that pcr won’t be required to board flight in Nigeria and we won’t also be asked of it when we land in Canada?

Please this is the link I got the information from
https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada#pre-entry-testing
Yes, what you heard is true... Fully vaccinated travellers don't need PCR test to enter Canada. But you must still fill the arrive can before you travel.

Concerning boarding from Nigeria, it is not required as well... In fact, Nigeria government as well recently mentioned that fully vaccinated travelers don't need the test to enter Nigeria, so that means no airline should ask for it before boarding, only if you proof you're fully vaccinated.

House, I think something is going wrong at Nairobi Visa office, May be some Visa officer are collecting bribe from some agent. Why someone that submitted his or her application since November 2021 will not receive decision and someone submitted his or her application on February 2022 will receive decision,(they submitted the same application package documents)
It's worrisome, what can we do to this situation? please someone should advise.......
Common', don't just lay accusation without concrete facts. Applications receive final decision based on its complexity. The fact that someone receives decision early is just a baseless talk. Please, know what you say publicly, there are IRCC Staffs and recognized agents on social media and even here too, no one just know them. Don't make things more difficult for applicants from Nigeria or Africa in general. Did you even watch the video someone posted here yesterday about what Dr Christian presented to the house to parliament?

Or, do you mean after 1 year program, you'll apply for another 1 year... Is that why you refer to it as graduate bundle certificate? Please, explain.

Hello house.
Pls, I wish to ask a question concerning someone coming 4 a 2-year study in Canada, with a passport expiring next year September.

Is it advisable to renew the passport here in Nigeria nd summit to IRCC or renew in Canada?

Heard IRRC doesn’t give visa beyond passport's validity date

Pls, best advice

Since your passport expires next September, that means you have one and a half years, so you can't renew your passport.

There is difference between Visa and Study Permit.

Visa is what is stamped on your passport, and it has a 1 year validity, even if your program is 4 yrs and you have 5 yrs on your passport, your Visa is usually a year period.

Study Permit is what is issued at the port of entry, and it is what covers the duration of your study, not the Visa.

So, in your case, you don't need to worry about it. At the Port of Entry, you'll be issued your study permit for the duration of your program, and when it's 6 months to the passport expiration, you can renew it over there.

That's exactly the same reason reason I am considering diploma. Although I have a 2.1. But most pgc and pgd courses I saw are one year program. I want to know if this will put me in trouble.
If you're going for diploma, it may be difficult to convince the VO, because diploma is lower than your first degree. But if you're avoiding PGD/PGC because it's usually 1 year program, here is what you can do.

Apply for a year PGD, by the time you're in your second term, put in another application for 1 year program. That'll make it 2 years of study and you'll be eligible for 2/3 years PGWP.

There are some advantages in doing it this way.
1. Your POF to show is only for a year, since you're going for a year program. The 2nd program, you would be in Canada, so applying for study permit extension, you won't need much POF.

2. During your break, you can work full time (e.g. First term = Sept - Dec. Second term = Jan - April. So from May - August, you can work full time and safe towards your second year that'll start by September)

Just consider your options and go for what ll benefit you. But you may be shooting yourself in the foot if it is diploma.

My field is political science. What if I simply go for the course based Masters program? Does it affect the process in which one can obtain a Post Study Work Permit after studies?
Lemme get you right... Your undergraduate degree is in political science and you've not had any work experience in disability studies field, like teaching or counselling?

Well, if that is the case, I'll strongly advise not to go for the program. Such programs are highly professional and require strong background in courses like learning, child development (emotional, cognition and social), and a lot of psychological studies in education as prerequisite before doing a masters. It's almost impossible to secure admission without having such background. But many schools may accept years of experience in that field to cover for it.

But, it doesn't affect the process of getting a PGWP either course or thesis base route.

ocpaschal:
pls do you have a sample of SOP for Disability Studies?
Noo, I don't... You can Google it.
SOP related to special education or child support care could be useful too.

It's a very good course in developed countries. After graduation, you can work in all educational settings, community organizations and with government. If you even go for thesis route, it'll be great. There are many research institute and government spend millions on research as grants every year.

University of Manitoba is one of the school that offers the program.

Taking a loan is not a problem, in fact IRCC accept it has means of POF. So far you attach the official loan letter, they'll confirm from the lender organization.
