Romance › Re: The Disadvantages Of Dating An Older Man by Toks2008(m): 2:42pm On Jul 06, 2017*. Modified: 10:31am On Jul 07, 2017 |
Naijasinglegirl: A man who is older than you and pays the bills feels you owe him. He is entrenched in his life and you would have to conform to his way of living. If he’s used to storing milk in an old custard container, eating eba at 5am in the morning, not shaving his kini or sleeping naked, don’t expect him to stop just because you’ve arrived on the scene.
He is not adventurous He will think you are mad if you tell him to wear the dog or coachfella filter on Snapchat. He thinks you spend too much time with your phone. He cannot spontaneously hop on a plane and travel with you because he has a board meeting in two days.
Sometimes he look really old Especially when he does something you find really upsetting. You start to wonder if he is going through late life crisis.
Conversations can be difficult Sometimes you just want to talk about Wizkid tweets and he just wants to talk about the tiny scar on his right arm he sustained during the Nigerian civil war.
Family Tension It's possible that your family would have difficulty adjusting to and accepting your mate if he's close to your parents in age, or not far from it.
Some things are permanent He is more likely to have a pot belly and a bit of wrinkle here and there. Also, if he is terrible in bed at his age, he will always be terrible since he refused to learn work when he was young.
He might see you as a maternal figure During the courtship stage, he might expect you to do perform maternal rules. Certain things like take care of his laundry, cook, house keeping etc
He might not be romantic His idea of a romantic evening might be taking you to a joint where smoked fish and small stout is sold. He sees little difference between May 27th and February 14th. You cannot buy him chocolates because his doctor warned it would trigger his arthritis.
He is an upcoming ancestor If he's really old, his years on earth are numbered and this fact would give you sleepless night.
Dealing with Stereotypes The most well-known negative stereotype associated with significant age differences between young women and older men is the "sugar daddy" stereotype, which suggests that an older man is financially generous with a younger woman in exchange for her company. Public reception of you and your older mate may reflect this stereotype, which could generate stares and whispers from passersby.

JohnXcel: Christ Embassy, Christ Embassy...was there for 10 year's.
My faith grew, my mind and intelligence increased greatly.
But now that I'm not there anymore (nor affiliated with their members), my inner peace has grown.
I guess I outgrew that place...
Thanks to Pastor Chris for the teachings though, I learnt a lot... Indeed he is a great teacher of the word but his love for money is tenmuch. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why I Left Christ Embassy Church by Toks2008(m): 6:44pm On Jul 02, 2017 |
trustyshoess: It really takes a spiritually mature mind to understand the principle of giving. Been a member for 6 years, I can attest to the benefits of giving to God. A good Christian should give with the mindset that What they give is for God. That's how I give and I don't bother to wonder what anyone does with the money because I have given it to God so anyone who misuses it, has God to answer to. The adjustment needed is not by the church but a renewal of the minds of hard hearted people. A lot of people come to the church, already hating the church or pastor because of rumours they've heard. Well that's just me. A n wi ru o n wi iru... Who says giving is not good? I'm a giver and you will be amazed at how huge I give to God cos I know the principle of sowing and reaping but my point is that C E is too laikadasic towards the welfare of their members and even strong members and this must stop...GOD forbid anything happens to you that would warrant financial aide from the church....I guess until then you will never understand my point. |

I command u to return to d pit of hell wher u came from Apparently I am one too.... Better call a spade one...OK how can you explain the fee christembassy charges for 31st December cross over service? Just accept that Pastor Chris is money freak...I have been attending church embassy since 1995 and left in 2010 and I was in the most powerful PCF called Haven so tell me what I don't know. |

Seun: I attended once and enjoyed the warm welcome. If nah that one they are extremely good...they will get your number, house address and introduce you to their PCF (Pastoral care fellowship) and even assign you to a cell group but pray you don't have any issues....you are on your own... Before I left,my PCF leader even complained about the financial strain on her because it's about give give give give and they care less if you steal to give or if you turn your soul to money and give them. I almost fave my car then after the pastor of the branch I worship psyched us. |

akagaba: Op, wake up... as soon as u left, 500 more people walked in so dont come here and disgrace urself. If u have allowed d devil to take a hold of u, then seek deliverance somehwere becus so many lives are being changed and transformed in Christ Embassy. We dont preach sin in CE cuz thats not what God asked us to preach. We rather preach the goodnews of the gospel of our Lord Jesus and thats the gudnews that brings sinners to God.
For money matter, its only a poor man that speaks d way u do. We give big, very very big in CE and thats becuz we serve a big God so deal with ur poverty. And what about my personal experience with the church? You guys need to work on your welfare department and not just receiving without caring for the needy. |

trustyshoess: If it's a sin, please show us where that was stated in the bible. Thanks I'm not here to go against his preaching cos in my own opinion,he is a very sound teacher of the word and I still listen to him but when it comes to the abnormal affinity of the church to money and the gross neglect of welfare of the members I guess the church needs to do a lot of adjustment. |

tosinjay: That was how my beloved sister died while being a strong member of dat group that counts members etc then, and nothing, no one turned up. Infact she was sick for a long time and she used to have a friend who she gifted alot to then, non came visiting her let alone when she died including the so called friend. Oh I'm so sorry. I had an accident in 2001 and I was incapacitated for a period of time and I was so amazed that after they came to pray for me,they just left me to my fate without even asking me how I will cope since I was bedridden but you won't believe that shortly after I got back to my feet and started attending the service, the group leader called us that we should contribute money to buy a car for the pastor to celebrate his birthday and I just smh! Incase anyone is reading this....this is Brother korede the C E.O of Diamond field international who was a haven member in 2000/2001 at christ embassy Alakija branch lagos/badagry expressway and the pastor at that time was Pastor Tony ikoku if I still remember..... I'm giving out specifics to prove that I'm not making this up. I hope christembassy will change after reading this thread |

This is a Christian related matter that is being thrashed out by well meaning Christians to fault many wrong doings in christian dom but unfortunately muslims and atheists have logically derailed this thread with annoying comments but when it comes to muslim thread, an annoying acknowledgment statement has been placed to block us from erring our opinions.
What are you doing to curtail this religious marginalisation on Nairaland? God bless you for this observation. Seun oya we need a logical explanation else we tag it favoritism. |

Marchman: I have not posted in a while but if you have followed my previous posts, you would know that I used to attend Christ Embassy Church, even though I had reservations about some of their teachings. I finally left the church, phew! I will use this thread to explain why I quit the church and why I may never attend another Pentecostal/Charismatic church which now appears to me like a sole proprietorship, with the General Overseer or lead pastor as the owner.
1. Excessive premium on Giving money
In Christ Embassy the number one thing they lay emphasis on is giving money. The church can use any tactic to get money from members, including manipulation, threats and the likes. While there is nothing wrong with giving money or time, I believe everything should be balanced and moderate. I think that was why St Paul said we should not give out of target, or threat but as we decide in our heart. In CE, there is nothing like moderation or balance when it comes to giving. They tend to believe literally that everything answers to money. You don’t have a job, give and sow seed. You are infertile, give and sow seed. Your father is sick, give and sow seed. Every message ends with a charge to give money. They collect tithes, offerings, partnerships (money), seeds (more money), first fruits (your whole income in January) and plethora of others.
You are also charged to give for Pastor Chris’s birthday and for all the other pastors. And for projects and the likes too.
Before I started worshipping with the Church, I read the story of the account clerk at the Sheraton Hotel who stole from his employers to give to the church. As a member, I could relate with the man. The Church is obsessed with money. They do not mind how or where you get it. If you want to rise or be noticed or win awards, just give big money. It is this obsession with money that led it to start collecting gate fees from members for its New Year Service at the LoveWorld Convocation Arena in Lagos, which ironically was built by the offerings of the members charged to get in. A lot of people I know personally had gone broke, had their businesses ruined, or fallen out with a loved one because of this teaching by the church.
In summary, at CE, money is everything- EVERYTHING. Congrats bro... Me I Don go back to my celestial church jeje and I also worship at random pentecostal churches anytime I feel like because my eyes are opened and I'm wiser now. I joined celestial church in 1983 and left in 1992 and returned this year after 24long years. I have worshiped with Christ embassy,Latter rain, redeem and many pentecostal churches and I can say most of not all nah psyching. ... They will psyche your life out of you and you will start believing you are a millionaire when your life wahala is still eating you up. I was a christembassy member for about 10years and a strong member of the PCF called haven... I had an accident in 2001 and not even a tin of beverage was bought for me and to think I belong to the givers group and I also remembered in 2009 when I was robbed and after telling my members how financially tight I was, they still did not even care but that very Sunday service they asked me to redeem my financial pledge and I was like se e gbadun! I left that business center called church and never to return...I'm OK with the way I worship my God in C.C.C...I have seen it all...pentecostal ko...penterascal ni. I believe in giving but when I see that the church cares less if you die as long as you give them money then there is something wrong. Pastor Chris should work on the church crazy affinity for money....imagine the rhapsody the church shares...do you know that the members are actually buying this and pastor Chris makes 100% profit printing them in his printing press and the say it's free. |
