babyosisi: They don't have tribes fearful that others want to dominate themosisibaby! Not as if i dont understand ur plight. Ok before the migration of the european to the north american continent, the geography of the continent make us to understand that there were indigenous people in the place. The europeans conquer the resistance of them all. During the slavery era, the Blacks from African continent were transported to the continent to work. The europeans went there to expand their territories, trade 'steal' and make an adventure. Some asians are there as indigenous people and some as traders and merchants. Those races i mentioned above are different people with different cultures, geographical locations, mentality and melanocyte proportion. Still they belive in one USA. In 1861 to 1864 they went on a civil war because the southern states (confedrate) thought they can pursue the same ideology with the union anymore concerning the slaves. 13 colonies during independence but now 50 base on the annexation, breaking and financial acquisition of some states. Still they are still waxing stronger in unity believing they are one. |
two categories of people: those that have something to say and those who just wana talk! Mr president! less talk, more action please cos time is not a friend that waits for one. |
PRESIDENT Jonathan assured Nigerians, Saturday, that despite all challenges, his administration would transform the country into one of the most developed nations of the world. Jonathan, who spoke through his Vice, Nnamadi Sambo in Abeokuta, disclosed that his government has initiated moves to transform, the education, transport, energy and health sectors, saying that Nigerians would soon see positive changes. He spoke at a civic reception, organised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South West zone in honour of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, an immediate past Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BOT). The reception, according to the Ogun State Chairman of the Party, Senator Dipo Odujirin, was in recognition of Obasanjo’s immense contributions towards the development of Nigeria in particular and Africa and the world in general. Jonathan told the crowd, which included serving and past governors, legislators, ministers and party faithful: “I want to assure you that we will continue to implement fantastic programmes and they shall transform Nigeria into one of the most developed countries in the world.” He added: “In this regard, I am pleased to inform you that, we have already recorded success in the area of power supply. It is a known fact all over the country, today, that there is improvement in power. This is as a result of improvement that we are making.” The President said: “I am pleased to inform you that not far from here, at Olorunsogo, we have successfully completed the Olorunsogo power plant, and that is already injecting 500MW to our national grid. We have completed everything about it– the gas pipeline, the gas treatment plant. This, we have achieved, as a result of the support we receive from you.” “I am also pleased to inform you, which is a common knowledge today, that Mr. President has taken a necessary step to ensure that Lagos/Ibadan expressway is completed and expanded. I was one of the first persons that used the road as a corps member when it had not been opened for public use. That road was built by Baba (Obasanjo) to international standard. This administration has resolved to bring back the road as it was and even in a better form,” Jonathan affirmed. Apparently impressed about what the President said, Obasanjo in response to the speech stated: “For me, nothing can gladden my heart better than when a government in this country, whether at the local level, state or at the national level takes care of the citizens’ need or even does what is right for the people. What you (Jonathan) have said to us today is that the Federal Government is doing what it was supposed to do some years back. It is better late than never”. On the reception, the former President said: “What is happening here today is unique because normally we don’t seem to celebrate our leaders until after their death. For me to be here with you and get such accolades and praises, I thank God and I thank you all.” He told the crowd at the event, held at the palace ground of the Egba monarch: “Let us identify icons in all walks of life among us, so that we can make the necessary sacrifice to encourage others so as to move our country forward.” He ascribed whatever he has achieved in life to God, saying: “Whatever I have achieved, whatever I have done and whatever attainment I have got, God made it happen and the glory should be given to him.” All those who spoke poured encomiums on Obasanjo, describing him as a great gift not only to Nigeria but also to Africa. The National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, in his speech described Obasanjo as a committed African statesman, saying: “Though some call him OBJ, the General or Mr. President, I want to call him the living legend of Africa. As we celebrate the living legend of Africa, therefore, I want to say without any hesitation that I am proud to be associated with this colossus who serves as a symbol of hope in the time most Nigerians were not certain of the future of the country.” Some of the personalities at the occasion were Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan and his Akwa-Ibom counterpart, Goodswill Akpabio. The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, an All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Party was also present. Okorocha in his speech urged Nigerian politicians to know when to stop playing politics and face governance. “Let us produce more leaders instead of more politicians. Party would not put food on our tables; only visionary leaders can,” he said. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=111005:pdp-will-transform-nigeria-to-developed-nation--jonathan&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 |
why are you also treating nigerians as pond fish Mr Zoologist. I just cant understand why he will always tried lamenting anytime he gets to an ugly scene as if the rectification of the ugliness of the scene is based on lamentation. We understand prophet Jeremiah also lamented in the Bible, but he did his best by taking steps. Well, what do you expect from a president that was emotionally voted for just because he had no shoes? You just came in over 2years ago, i understand, but please do your best. Lamenting is not a solution though we are human. |
Apparently embarrassed by what he saw at Nigeria’s Police College, on last Friday, President Goodluck Jonathan could not but lament openly, asking why people were being subjected to a treatment fit for chickens in the poultry. The unscheduled visit by Jonathan was a rare one and it afforded the nation’s number one citizen the opportunity to see first hand, the very sorry state of the institution built some 73 years ago. A very dependable source privy to the visit quoted the exact words of Mr. President. An obviously miffed Jonathan could not but ask: “Why are you treating people like poultry chicken”? The visit, which was as a result of a promotional documentary being aired on Channels TV and which the president had seen, lasted less than one hour. Sunday Vanguard learnt that when the documentary first aired and Jonathan saw it, “he could not believe what he was seeing”. It was gathered that the Presidency could not understand why the television network could be allowed to publicise the rot that had gone on in the institution for so long. Jonathan in a Police college hostel Jonathan in a Police college hostel In fact, Sunday Vanguard learnt that some mischief was already being woven around the documentary until it was made clear to the president that the network was in partnership with the police authorities. Jonathan was made to understand that the reason for the publicity, bad as it may appear, “is to sensitise corporate bodies to the massive needs of the institution, such that when the Channels’ Forum is held on Tuesday as scheduled, there would have been enough sensitization exercise. Also, information suggests that, contrary to the impression that some people had tried to create, which was that the documentary was meant to embarrass the Jonathan administration, “it was actually meant to be a supportive engagement”. In fact, according to the process of engagement being instituted for the partnership, corporate bodies would not be expected to make financial donations. Rather, interested partners would pick a project (either rehabilitation of the hostels or construction of buildings) and fund it directly for the benefit of the institution. Sunday Vanguard was told that “it was after the president was made aware of the modus operadi of the Channels/Police partnership that he decided to pay the surprise visit.” Already, there are strong indications that the Presidency would buy into the partnership. “The president would be very supportive of any activity or sets of activities that would ensure a worthy restoration of the institution”, a Presidency source said yesterday. Asked about the initial feeling of embarrassment, the Presidency source quipped: “I do not think that is the attitude of Mr. President. “Mind you, that institution has been there for some 73 years. President Jonathan just got to office some two and a half years ago; the incumbent Inspector General of Police is just about a year and a half in office too. Would it be wise to blame these two individuals for something that had gone on for that long. Mr. President is the first in recent history to visit the place; the incumbent IG has deemed it fit to accept to partner with the television network and, but for that, the massive interest it has generated may not have happened”. Sunday Vanguard learnt that while Jonathan was airborne en route Abidjan, the Cote D’Ivoire capital, for the ECOWAS meeting on the Mali crisis, he was said to have caught the sight of an obviously worried man. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/01/police-college-visit-why-are-you-treating-people-like-poultry-jonathan/ |

Okene don turn Bamako be dat! Moreover, that is a omen of 'fire on the mountain'! Perhaps they connived among themselves feigning waylaid with the bombs they are to carry to Mali. Nigerian soldiers wise, they dont wanna go to Mali to die. |

Just woke up this morning, logged in to nairaland and see if there is any funny stuff to flavor my day. There i saw this topic on the front page 'countdown as nairaland hits 1million members' https://www.nairaland.com/1165684/countdown-nairaland-hitting-million-members/. When i was reading the comments, gat secrets of many polymorphs like becomerich with uche series, sex killz and co, idowuogbo and other monickers, lucenzo and its other usernames. Ileke idi, ileke oyan and others. Couldnt helped laughing cos i started to wonder what for. Later i got to realise that many of them were many times banned for their comportment in the forum making them to open multiple usernames. Little wonder i read some comments with phallangial output with no cerebral processing, also not corelating with the topic yet having up to 10 likes. Then i started wondering how they acquire the likes not knowing they used another monickers of theirs to like their own comments. To my question, i have just only one monicker and it is TOLEXANDER! |
ItsModella: LMAO!! what the hell? is this one person?no! This is one people o! Guys are madt here o. Imagine 1 person appearing as 1 people. Never knew nairaland is full of polymorphs exhibiting polymorphism like a bacteria. Anyway sha, i have only 1. |
larride: I'm presently schooling in Osun State, Okuku to be precise and I can say confidentially that Ogbeni Rauf is indeed working, we have stable power supply, the education sector is revamping, someone above me say the health sector is poor but I dare call him a lair, well to the best of my knowledge, we all enjoy free health care around in Okuku, Inisa and Ikirun with the Government owned hospital working 24/7 everyday. The only people you will see complaining about Ogbeni Aregbe are the NURTW and those PDP members. When i left Lagos Sept last year to resume school, I was seated with two Igbo girls that were posted to Osogbo for their NYSC program, when we reached Ode-Omu, they were asking me if we are in Osogbo, I told them NO, that we are in Ode-Omu, a small town, they were so surprised with the neatness and how developed the place is, they told me that if a small town is well developed like this, then how will the state capital looks like, they weren't disappointed when we get to Osogbo. Though there are still lots that Ogbeni have to do but he has done 110 more than his precedessor. There is room for improvement though. Osun a'dara oooomajority of what you said are not totally right. Osogbo and its environment i.e osun west senatorial district has been experiencing something close to an average of 20 hours of power supply per day since the creation of osun state. Besides, power supply excellence is not an accolade that is supposed to be given to the state goverment but the rural electrification which had already been put in place in that environment you mentioned before the inception of aregbesola's government. About the free health care bill in that area, am not really sure cos the goverment developement provison to its state is not something that should be restricted to a place but should be spread evenly to the entirety of the states, which we are yet to enjoy in Ile Ife. About the education sector, the only area i can commend him on is the reduction of the uniosun school fees and payment of the busary. Excellent in tertiary education. But not really justified in the primary and secondary education management cos i see no reason whereby pupils in these segments of education will be promoted without the use of their academic performance though the education is free. |

jmaine: Lesson No 1 : - No amount of baseless screams and yelling can move or change any thing . . . .final lesson! An amount of cadmium sulphate powder equivalent to 1g/L of cd^2+ was prepared. 10ml of the solution was pipetted into a 100ml volumetric flask containing 25ml of 0.2% gelatin solution and 2M KCl was used to dilute to volume. 5ml of this solution was transfered to a polarographic cell and id(diffusion current)=2.2microAmps was obtained. After adding 10ml of 0.01g/L of solution of cadmium sulphate analar, the id=3.5microAmps. What is the % content of Cd^2+ in the cadmium sulphate? Justify the 0.2% gelatin solution and 2M KCl in this set up. Please i need a solution to the question before thursday. May God help u as u wana help me. |

The guy na TUFACE of gospel music or tuface na atorise of secular music. Cos him own bad pass tuface. The guy has neva been a gospel musician to me from time cos he only thinks of singing anything gospel anytime he needs money(remember 'mo ti pada sodo re baba'). Besides, who is his producer? Bayowa! Birds of a feather. |
Egba girl: Sigh. O se like lati ma jiyan bayii?? It used to exist!!! Like "shade" and what not until they changed it.i dont talk about things that once existed cos am not talking about history but yoruba alphabets. Shade, shola once existed just like offa and aiye. Can you write it down in yoruba exam like waec and neco expecting it to be marked just because it existed? Sh only exists in pronounciation but not in written like english write up instead it is written as a s dotted in the bottom just like a hen sitting on an egg. Unfortunately, it cannot be typed on my keypad here. |
Egba girl: The sh sound does exist. There used to be an h after the s but now we jus put the ami under the s as we do for 'e' 'o'the sh sound exist in pronounciation but not written on book instead written as s with a dot underneath just like a lady wana sit down on top a prick |

Ngwakwe: Rather, Nairaland is congregation of people who seek satisfaction and knowledge for daily life update.nairaland politics as you said is a forum in which every tribe displays the matters affecting them which is politically motivated? Exactly what am saying describing nairaland as a microcosm of nigeria. What is happening on nairaland is an example of what is happening in the daily nigerian living. Just that there is not a common ground in which this happenings are displayed like nairaland. E.g in the yorubaland, they believe igbo people are not people you can associate with base on their selfish interest, likewise the igbo mentality that yorubas are dirty. But all these tribal views have no common ground to be displayed but only in the individual's geographical locations. Nairaland created a political forum in which all the views can be displayed. |
lekkie073: in yoruba alphabeth, there is 'sh'. shutuppuno! It isn't shutuppu but sotoopu! Yoruba alphabet doesn't have sh and two consonants don't follow each other. |
