Religion / Re: Why Was Jesus Invented? by torchwave: 6:27am On Dec 28, 2014
Op, was Jesus invented? Then Satan was invented, too, right?

If Jesus was invented, then Jacob, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Noah, the Ark, and the country we know today as Israel were also invented by Romans, right? Have this in mind, these names I mentioned have historical proofs of their existence today. Now we know the Ark has been discovered and we see Israel.

Was Jesus invented? Then Mohammed was also invented.

If Jesus was invented, then the clinical deaths (with proofs and witnesses who are not even Christians) and miraculous resurrection of many all over the world having the same testimony of seeing Jesus were also invented.
Therefore, the saying is true that if they don't believe the prophets, they will never believe even if one rises from the grave.

Then the existence of you and I was also invented.

It is certain everyone who has been born into this world from its beginning to its end will surely see God, dead or alive, saint or sinner. That is a promise from God Himself.
Op, I only hope that when you (finally) believe, it is not too late - there are no unbelievers/atheists in hell (or heaven).

So on point.

Sex and kissing btween married couples are not sins.

Kissing outside the boundary of marriage is softly stroking your lustful/sexual fantasy.

....even the so-called holy kiss.

Those who say kissing is a form of greeting, what happened to 'hello' or is it now old fashioned?

CANTICLES, please explain, in your understanding, the Bible passage that says once a man dies, then straight he goes for judgment. Who or what goes for judgment?

For the record, when God says He will destroy the soul, it means He will condemn the soul to everlasting torment and separation from Him. The human soul and spirit are immortal by design.

The wages of sin is Death. Everybody dies in the end, sinners and saints. However, the Death in question is a spiritual one, not a physical phenomenon...the reward of living a sinful life.

The soul that sins shall die (cut off from the Presence of God and suffer perpetual punishment). Jesus said we should not fear those who can harm the body but cannot harm the soul but that we should fear the Person who can harm both the body and destroy the soul in hell. Him we should fear.

Fear God.

Gentleman ... Go and vomit the fictional hell theory

The people of Noah's day dont av an immortal soul that can travel to such heretic fictional hell ( eze 18:4) .... The scriptures never said they went there !

Jesus narrates that " the flood came and swept them all away" - Matt 24:39 !
jeez! Are you serious! The people of Noah's day had no souls? Wherever did you get that idea?

You have the teachings of the Bible really really really twisted, my friend.

If you are told the answer, would you believe, cus the answer to that affect your view on what happens to man when he dies.
God is justice
God is compassionate
God is merciful to those who repent
Most importantly, God is Love.

Would a god that has such attribute now condemn some people to evalasting torment lasting billions and billions of years because they sinned during their initial 30 to 70 years of existence?
Remember this sinners are not perfect
God is not a man that He should lie. He means what He says even if it is difficult for you to accept it.

God does not judge on the basis of years of existence on earth in order to reward with eternal life or eternal punishment. All that is important to God is if you accepted His Son, Jesus Christ, before you died. It doesn't matter if you lived for only 12 years or 30 years or even 100 years.

Yes, God is love. That is why His grace is still available. But it is a great deception of the devil to assume that God's love makes it impossible for Him to punish the unrighteous. That is what the devil wants you to believe...and as long as you think like that the devil is happy.

GOD IS INDEED LOVE BUT HE IS ALSO VERY TERRIBLE.
THE FEAR OF GOD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM.

Apostle Paul said, "Knowing the severity of God we warn men."

My friend, God means what He says and He said the righteous will be rewarded with everlasting life while the sinners will be punished with everlasting torment along with the Devil and his demons...forever and ever.

Thanks alot... By the way what of someone who has been praying abt it ni? And its seeming to even be worse?
Never give up. Learn from each fall. Prayer is only half the solution. You must learn to FORCE your body to obey you.

According to Apostle Paul, "But I keep under my body, and bring it to subjection: lest by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway" (KJV).

The English Standard Version expresses it better - But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

Know that the flesh is our greatest enemy. It is up to us to put the flesh under tight leash. The flesh, as a result of the Fall of Adam, is NATURALLY corrupt and always desires the things that are contrary to the will and nature of God, therefore, we must always kill it by denying it what it wants. If you always gratify its desires then you will always fall into sin. Always say NO to the sinful and evil desires of the flesh.

God deals with our spirits but wants us to deal with our souls and bodies...however, He will always help us in ways we cannot imagine if we ask for it.

As long as we live, we will always struggle with the flesh. It is so normal. It is called the good fight of faith. Learn to starve the flesh by forcefully refusing to give it what it wants if its desires are sinful....then little by little you will master the art of overcoming the flesh.

Read Romans 6:7. Very beautiful secret of taming the flesh.

May God give you grace to please Him and live a victorious life in Him.

About those who were brought up in strict Islamic or other religious environments, it is rather unfortunate but they are also without excuse if they die without accepting Christ.

Reason is there are thousands of former Muslims brought up under the same teaching and environment who accepted Christ and many suffered as a result of their choice while many were killed for becoming followers of Christ. They, like others, heard about Christ but they CHOSE to accept Him because their spirits did not resist the nudgings of the Holy Spirit in them to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts.

Op, I'm even more worried about people who never even heard about Jesus Christ. Will they also be condemned with people who heard but refused to believe? That is one question I don't know the answer. However, I believe God is just and He will be just in judging them.
Religion / Re: Why Would A Compassionate God Be Ok To See His Creations Suffer In Hell by torchwave: 3:28pm On Dec 14, 2014
Op, in all honesty, I wish there was no hell for sinners. I wish it was only for a certain time but not forever.

But, the will of God will stand. That is why we warn people and plead with them to turn from their sins and follow Christ because just as God is a very loving God, He is also a very severe God.

Remember the days of Noah, God was patient enough to let people go into the Ark. That was His love. When they refused, and the appointed time came to destroy the world, He shut the Ark and made the rain kill every living thing. People must have furiously pounded on the doors of the Ark but there was no longer grace for them. That was His severity.

Eternity in hell is no joke. It is worth avoiding at all costs.

The picture of someone lying 2 hours to His death and being condemned in hell for it may not be realistic because it may take only one sincere word like 'Jesus' or even a sigh to have repented before giving up his ghost. Moreover, when God writes one's name in the Book of Life, He doesn't automatically erase the name immediately a person commits sin. He gives the person time to repent but when that person does not repent then God erases his name from the Book of Life. Anyone whose name is found in the Book of Life makes heaven.
Religion / Re: How Can A Sex Addict(fornication) Stop It??? by torchwave: 2:38pm On Dec 14, 2014
You can only quit your addiction when you are determined to do so by asking God for help. On your own you may never be able to overcome that sin of fornication because with man it is impossible but with God all things are possible.

The Bible says that whatever is born of God overcomes the world...

God means business with only those who display sincerity in seeking His help.

However, there's something you can do to avoid fornication...you must always RUN away from it...flee it! Don't think or argue with sin...flee!
Do you stay under a burning roof? Unless you have a death wish, your reflex action should be locating the nearest exit to escape. In the same manner your reflex action should be to run away from any appearance of lust and temptation leading to fornication.

Moreover, the Bible also says that God is faithful who will make a way of escape/exit with every temptation.

Therefore, there is really no excuse to fall into the temptation of fornication when God is ready to help when you call and He has given us the key to escape from temptation by letting us know how to react to it as well as already placing exit routes from temptations.

That is not all. The Bible also says that God will never permit us to be tempted beyond our strength or capacity. It means that every temptation that overtakes you was permitted to do so because God knows you are well able to overcome it. Those in heaven today and those in hell all faced temptations which they could all overcome. We all do. No one is spared except, of course, little kids who had not gotten to the age of responsibility before they died.

Lastly, we are humans and we will still stumble and fall at one or two occasions. That is why we should always maintain a repentant heart knowing that we can fall at any time. There is no such thing as a sinless saint but there are holy saints. All God wants to see is your sincerity in following Him and He will do the rest.

Do read Ephesians 1:4 if you want to know how to live a holy life daily.

Op, one thing I have learnt in my walk with God, and that is the fact that I never let my opinion of God be influnced by my current circumstances. God cares - fact. You may be going through difficult times but you never know what He does for you, you never see Him shielding you, walking with you, directing your footsteps, surrounding you with peace in the midst of troubles....you only see your current situation, the evil things happening in the world, but you never see God making all of them work for the good of those who love Him.

If they don't deny His existence, they accuse Him of wickedness but turn a deliberate blind eye to the means of escape He has provided through Jesus Christ.

Yet, as a loving and patient God, His arms are still stretched to them...

Therefore their IQ is great whose skins are white, even though they preach Jesus Christ all over the world, right?

Proof of God's existence? Like God is a tangible personality you can see or touch just like matter. If the numberless testimonies of people who have encountered God in death (with medical proofs of their deaths), the countless testimonies of healings, miracles and deliverance from darkness by many who are now witnesses through experience of the reality of God, if the testimonies of little kids who have had an encounter with God, who had no previous knowledge of His Word or any other religion do not suffice as proof enough of God's existence, if the earth and all that are in it, if the universe with its planets and moons, sun and stars do not suffice as proof, if the birth of Jesus Christ (God in human flesh) does not satisfy your doubt, if all these things and more which point to the fact that God exists do not convince you, then, my friend, it's no one's fault that your blindness is so hopeless.

Lastchild, about evening fasting, it is something I do on my own since I started seeking God. I've nt heard anybody suggest or talk about it because it is a personal invention of mine....as effective as the regular kind of fasting.

What I do is to make sure I take breakfast, light lunch (very important. It must be light), nd skip meal 4 d rest of the day. In the early morning hours, when I rise to pray, my senses, my spirit become very focused to engage in the prayer of seeking God. My flesh is tamed nd subdued. It is then that I can really pray wit my spirit. This is why we engage in fasting, to give the spirit man control, to make it receptive to the things of God.

It is difficult at first bt u will get used to it in no time.

I also engage in regular fasting. Both are very important but have different purposes. Everything depends on you.

I believe those who took their lives are bound 4 eternity in hell. It is not different from homicide, genocide, patricide, etc.

However, since she was able to communicate with people after the act, if she asked 4 forgiveness, it is my belief she is in heaven now.

All sins, great or tiny, are equal in disqualifying people frm making heaven. It is the failure to repent frm them that condemns people to hell. All have sinned.

Op, there's a good chance of knowing where she is now. You can ask God to reveal her eternal abode to you nd He will do just that. You can also see a true believer with the gift of prophecy who can help you in that regard. I hope you are not a baby Christian for, then, this piece of advice will make no sense to you.

Lastchild, both are extremely effective. Fasting is essential to prayer. Midnight prayer should be done with some form of evening fasting.

If daytime prayer is convenient for you, accompany it wit fasting. If midnight prayer is convenient for u, accompany it wit some form of fasting.

Choose the time of prayer that is most convenient for you. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much...it doesn't matter whether it is daytime or midnight prayer.
Religion / Re: Got Out From A Bondage And Entered A New Bondage by torchwave: 9:08am On Dec 06, 2014
Lastchild, I believe he who the Son sets free is free indeed. I have never heard a case in the Bible where one was commanded or subjected to pray all the days of his life to remain free from a particular demon that was cast out earlier.

It is just not Scriptural neither does it portray God as the great Deliverer.

We are instructed to pray always, without ceasing but nt for this particular reason.

However, there is always a condition to remain in the freedom in which Christ has set u(s) free, nd that is - SIN NO MORE. It means no boyfriend/girlfriend relationships which lead to sin, obeying the Word of God, knowing the sins that easily make u stumble nd fall nd avoiding them lyk plague..put on the whole armour of God daily.

I must caution you to be very prayerful. Hm. Very important. A prayerless Christian is lyk a sleeping lion to the devil. Wake up from ur slumber nd Christ will shine on u. You only know the time that is convenient to engage in warfare prayers...d kind of prayers that make demons scamper for false safety.

More importantly, seek to know God as asalimpo suggested. Knowing God is the key to walking in the victorious christian life.

Shalom

WEEKLY UPDATE

Should I rightly call it that seeing it has been quite long since I made any updates?

Well, at least, I plan to be consistent with the weekly updates barring some circumstances. Besides, I prefer the weekly updates to any other timeframe.

So, yea, God seems to be a Master of silence, a very great contrast to the God whose voice dominated the entire Bible. Hmm. Will keep on till I know Him like Abraham, Samuel, David, Isaiah, Peter and many others did.

Another thing, I've incorporated Biblical meditation into my daily Listening Prayer. This is not to 'enhance' my spiritual perception of the voice of God but because it suits my circumstances quite well.

In seeking God, you can decide either to be consistent with Biblical meditation or plain listening prayer. None, I repeat, none is better than the other. The key to success in seeking God is CONSISTENCY.

Lately, I've been having problems with discipline, another important factor in seeking God. I have made decisions to help me return to maintaining discipline in my prayer life. Will see how it turns out this week and next. I'm very positive about it since it will not be the first of its kind.

Only God knows the appointed day of my journey's fulfilment. Till then, I pray He continually supplies me the grace to end this journey successfully because better is the end of a thing than its beginning.
Religion / Re: Seeking The Face Of God - The Journey by torchwave: 8:40am On Oct 23, 2014
I have learnt many things since I began this spiritual journey of seeking God, precious lessons and values that have helped me continue steadfastly in God so that I can boldly say seeking God is the best thing that has happened to my spiritual life.

However, there is one particular lesson of note about seeking God I have also come to learn through personal experience, and it is the fact that seeking God does not immune us from stumbling or falling.

Sometimes one loses focus of the journey being enticed by vain side attractions, and sometimes one falls (into temptation). As a result, some folks quit seeking God because, in their understanding, being gulty of either has automatically disqualified them from the journey.

On the contrary, our stumbling or falling or losing focus do not mark the end of our spiritual journey of seeking God. They do not and can never disqualify us from knowing God personally.

If anything, they are among the many difficulties and challenges we MUST encounter in our search for God. What is most important is that we never stay that way, we recognise and admit our wrongs and weaknesses, and continue our journey as though it were never interrupted. That is victory...that is seeking God faithfully.

For those seeking, those yet to seek, and those who may have stopped seeking for the same or similar reason, I hope you find this piece of writing quite useful.

Some topics in nairaland never die no matter how many times you bury them.

To tithe or not to tithe...this two positions will never lack supporters or proponents and opponents...till Christ returns.

If you're led, through personal conviction in the Word, to tithe, let nothing stop you.

If you feel your tithe enriches your pastor to your disadvantage, you can keep it.

There's one thing I'm sure of, I shall never be found among the group of non-tithers.

Why risk eternal damnation on the ground of tithing? A paltry reason to be disqualified from attaining paradise after death.

In case you don't know, non-tithers are thieves, literally....and no thief shall enter the kingdom of God.

The disadvantages of non-tithing far outweigh that of tithing.

Think about that.

Op, you're only speaking according to the general inclination of thought in the 21st century. The centuries old values we have lost to the past should not make us belittle the important sanctity of virginity especially when we're always faced with internal and external pressure to lose it...much like a fragile egg under the pressure of heavy rocks yet refuses to crack.

It is a veritable and undeniable sign of strength of character, it is an unforgettable gift you present to your spouse, your spouse is able to trust you more not to mention love you more when they discover your virgin status, they are able to appreciate your unbroken gift of love especially when they are unable to return the gesture, they get that glorious feeling like, "She's/he's all MINE! I'm the first and only one to ever chart that territory. No man/woman has walked that territory before me nor will after me. Now, she's/he's all mine." You know, that feeling of honour that makes one swell with pride over the virginity of the spouse.

You may not tag any value on them but the truth is a diamond does not need your permission or approval to shine.

Of course it does not guarantee a successful marriage but it is one of the strongest foundations for a successful marriage. It gives the spouse peace of mind and assurance of your faithfulness which is an essential ingredient of abiding marriage.

In our world of today, marrying a virgin is like the miracle of walking on water. Virgins are endangered species of our humanity.

Yes, many justify their promiscuity by saying they prefer someone with experience to virgins. That statement is a crystal clear indicator of thoughtlessness. They forget experience is available anywhere - videos, magazines, internet, audios, etc which can be picked up by all and sundry but can anyone pick virginity from any of these? Secondly and most importantly, isn't experience also gained by practice in the matrimonial bed? The so-called experienced were once virgins. They were not born with sexual experience. The difference is they lost it, some through no fault of theirs while most lost it through weak character strength.

Virginity is lack of opportunity says some folks. I can only say I hope their loss of sense of pride, dignity, devaluation among many other aches associated with promiscuity is worth all the opportunity.

Lastly, I shall never leave without saying there are those who may have lost their virginity but they are nevertheless true virgins because they are still virgins at heart since they've learnt from their mistakes. These are roses that bloom among thorns - rare diamonds.

Virginity goes beyond unbroken hymen or total abstinence. It speaks volumes about the person.

Notice I focused on virginity and its importance. I do not believe virgins are exclusively entitled to good character. Many, if not most, lack it. Strength of character, yes. My aim was to bring out its importance and value in our society and the need to preserve it from extinction.

When I decide to marry, I won't be searching for a virgin only. I could marry a non-virgin and love her just as I will love a virgin should I marry one. Both are not better than the other but one is much rare like diamond which makes it more precious in value than the other.
