CANTICLES, you're free to select and believe what you wish about God...the Bible makes it clear...there is a JUDGMENT DAY and it is coming without delay.

No where to run or hide from it when it arrives. Inevitable, that is.

@torchwave, if there is a just God who by his nature to do not have a choice than to send people who disobey him to enternal torture, We despise it. Because some of us by nature believe that no human should be subjected to horrible torture in fire forever as punishment for something done in a space of years. 120yrs sin - tortured forever, imagine one of your loved ones finds his/herself there burning in fire for enternity. We advice that God to change that monster nature and seek serious counselling.
In essence, you're in rebellion against God since you cannot accept His nature of severity.

One more thing, my advice to you is to change your ways because God has always been, is, and will forever be changelessly unchangeable. That, especially, is why He is God.

The sooner you get that the better for you all.

You all might say whatever you wish against God in your lifetime, but nothing will stop you from meeting Him personally. Gosh...I hope, for your sake, you're prepared for that inevitable face-to-face encounter widely known as JUDGMENT DAY.

Religion / Re: I Chose Hell Fire by torchwave: 9:55am On Oct 16, 2014
Chai, na wa for humans. Clearly, the doctrine of hell is a bitter pill to swallow.

Some say it's only a monster Creator will imagine and create a place such as hell, others say God is too loving to create such a dreadful place of eternal suffering, some believe there's no such thing as hell, a large group think the punishment of eternal suffering in hell is highly unfair while many have already chosen hell to be their eternal habitation.

Everybody is entitled to his opinion. However, these people's limited minds keep them from understanding the nature of God and the creation of hell.

God did not create hell for man. He created it for Lucifer and his demons (former angels). That is why Satan's suffering will be eternal when he is finally judged.

That is not the only reason He created hell. There are two sides to the nature of God that makes Him just. He is a loving God but He is also a God of wrath. As a loving God, He created Heaven for His creation who choose to obey Him. As a God of wrath, He created hell for those who choose to disobey Him.

He created good and evil, light and darkness, day and night, holy angels and fallen angels, believers and unbelievers, hell-bound and heaven-bound...shows that if He created one HE MUST CREATE the other if He is to live up to His just nature. If He created light, He MUST create darkness to be fair. If He listens to the requests and petitions of His children, He MUST also listen to the requests and petitions of the devil and grant them if they are legal as a just God.

Now I might seem to contradict myself when I say God did not originally create hell for man but in another breath say He created the hell-bound and heaven-bound.

Remember, the just nature of God requires that He is no respecter of persons. All sins are equal in weight before Him. If He punished the devil for rebelling against Him with eternal suffering, He is BOUND to mete out the same punishment to people who sin against Him because a just God will give the same punishment for the same or similar wrongs.

There are many things to say but I shall stop here. I'm already guilty of a very lengthy sermon.

All I'm saying is this, if you choose hell, fine. God will grant you your wish since He already created you. He already knew where you will spend the rest of eternity as a result of the exercise of your will which is independent or devoid of God's influence on you and in His fairness He created you so that you'll choose in reality where you'll go but hey God already knows those who're His.

If you think God's creating hell is unfair, read the post once again. I am really sad (everyday) that there are people there and I don't want my enemy to even go there but even sadder than I am is God Himself because He loves us so very much and does not wish the wickedest man on earth to end up in hell that He did not even spare His only Son, Jesus Christ, whom He sent to take the form of man, suffer like a criminal and die a shameful death on the cross in order to secure our salvation from hell. Only a just God will not hoard or keep mankind's only hope of salvation to Himself. He took steps to save man even if it was at a very great personal cost to Him. That is how much He loves us.

However, God is always bound to act in accordance with His nature which is Fairness and that fairness binds His Love and Wrath in perfect harmony.

If Osama Bin Laden, Emperor Nero, or Adolf Hitler, as notoriously evil as they were, gave their lives to Christ in the last minute of their lives, they'd be in heaven now despite the thousands and millions they've sent to hell because God would forgive them as a just God of love. If, however, they did not, He will punish them with eternal fire as a just God of wrath.

Heaven or Hell....it's your choice.
Religion / Re: A Troubling Matter In Marriage -- SEX. by torchwave: 7:18pm On Oct 15, 2014
She's already married and there's nothing she can do about it except hope and pray for a miracle.

Divorce? Humph..it is ironic that it should be an option especially when they married for love. Besides, if she's a Christian divorce will only make her sin against God.

Wife is living an adulterous life, husband selfishly deceived her into marrying him by cunningly keeping a very vital secret from her, a secret that binds and sustains all marital unions, a secret that its absence makes any marital union lose its essential flavour.

Who to blame?

So much, Christians neglect, to their detriment, a great provision of determining the will of God that would have saved them many heartaches.

If they would take advantage of the prophetic, I am confident that the issues that cause incompatibility and division in marriages will be a lot less reduced.

Gosh. Na wa. I think she may not really be cheating on you as someone said but only made the statement calculated to grieve you and hurt you deeply, to make you feel the same pain felt as a result of your sexcapades.

If, however, she's cheating on you, then be a man and love her more especially because she is still hurting. Afterall, you drove her to this exercise in futility. It will take some time but she will return to her senses (that depends on you). It is just a phase. Be the man and weather it out.

Sometimes I wonder why people get married when they have not learnt to curb their immoderate sexual activities. It engenders threads like these.

The Spirit of God is real to me as real can be. He is part of my everyday life. I acknowledge His Presence so that I know I'm not alone. He is as real as you want Him to be.
Religion / Re: Seeking The Face Of God - The Journey by torchwave: 8:08am On Oct 13, 2014
I'm sooo hungry for the personal reality of God in my life. I desire the personal touch of God, His Presence, to hear His comforting words when I'm down, to know Him face to face and be able to distinguish His voice from other voices the way I know every member of my family.

I thirst deeply for God. I thirst desperately for Him.

I long to know God personally. I want to be close to Him, to walk with Him, to talk with Him. It is the very essence of my existence. I desire to be filled to the brim daily with His Presence, to spend all the days of my life, and my last breath on earth in blissful communion with my Saviour.

Knowing God intimately is the greatest desire of my heart. It precedes every ambition, plan or desires. It is the ultimate goal of my life....and when I know Him, I want to know Him even more...and more.

Oh the sweet hunger for God... Good morning Father, good morning Lord Jesus, good morning precious Holy Spirit.

hmmm. Bolaino, I thought you wanted to ADDRESS the issue of the rapture but all I read is your deep seated and baseless anathema for preachers. In fact, it is very safe to say your topic is just a front to air your biased and confused opinion of Christians and, especially, preachers who have no connection or significance with your topic.

Since your speech has no main point, you digress without warning, make unnecessary and incoherent connections just as you did not forget to inject your biased accusations which are highly uncalled for, and end your bitter rant without even caring to make little sense I shall just peg your speech down to a senseless heap of gibberish - that irritating buzz of a fly in the ear....

Hi Bisybody2

Thank you so much. I may not know the tune of the hymn but I do know the words speak to me like they are my words but from the lips of another person. I find myself in a valley in my walk with God where my only means of survival is complete trust in Him to lead the way.

When everything does not make sense then I should praise Him more because I trust Him to make all things work for my good.

How've you been? It's been long since we spoke. How's family?

So......I've been through the worst storm of my life. September ushered in a terrible flood that almost drowned my spiritual life.

As a result, I could not make any updates concerning my progress in seeking God because that, too, was adversely affected tried as best as I could.

However, through the storm God never left me. He never left me. That I see clearly.

Now it is calm. My journey continues. My destination - to see the Face of God.

If the tragedies and evils of this world equally consume the followers of Christianity, then what protection does the death of Jesus offer?! Nothing! Jesus promised according to the scribblings in thee.bible that with Faith the mustard seed shall grow to the sturdy tree, that mountains shall move. That was jesus' promise. Now if we pagans, atheists see that Christians are as much as vulnerable as we are, don't you think Christianity has failed?!
That is where you err because you never read the Bible yet you criticise it endlessly.

Jesus died to give us eternal life, life with God. He did not die to grant us long life on earth even though He grants it to many.

In fact, He said those who lose their lives for His sake will find it.

An exercise as futile as Jesus on a Roman cross. Her story is a failed testimony of the "power" of the Christian God. There was nothing glorius, but plain ignorance. God is dead and Science killed him.
That is what you tell yourself so that you can explain away the existence of God. Deny it or not, believe it or not, you will stand before God, inevitably.

Elijah78, Mbaemeka, and Benjibabs, please let's quit the argument. It has not only taken the thread a completely different route from the one originally intended but has also succeeded in killing the spirit and interest of participation in that regard.

Seeking God is the primary purpose of the thread. Every other thing should be related to that by way of advice, helpful tips in seeking God, challenges in seeking God, sharing as well as documenting experiences in seeking God and the likes so that those who read them will be strengthened and blessed, thus they will be encouraged to persevere in seeking God.

Remain blessed as you do this.
Religion / Re: Prayer Warrior Dies Of Ebola. Name Of Jesus Cannot Cure Ebola by torchwave: 11:10am On Sep 12, 2014
alienvirus: No Bros, leave story. Why did Jesus refuse to cure her?
I tell you, the ways of God are mysterious. He permitted her death for reasons best known to Him.

God is able to keep all His children from harm even without the need of their praying to Him like He kept the Israelites from the all the plagues He brought on the Egyptians through Moses, but He permits the death of some of His saints through various means for reasons best known to Him.

Know this, if the number of her days was not up in God's calendar, then the evd that took her life would have been unable to touch her.

Precious in the sight of God is the death of His saints. This means He already has a better plan for His children whose lives are cut short by evil in addition to the fact that He permitted their deaths so that they can come home to be with Him according to His good pleasure and what a glorious homecoming whether it be death by decapitation, burning on the stake, wild animals, cancer, hunger, disease, war, natural disasters, fatal accident, natural death etc etc....

It doesn't matter the means by which death takes a true child of God. He or she has been given the great grace to come and be with the Father forever and ever.

Note, like other evils that plague the world, God has permitted evd to take the lives of the just and the unjust as He makes His rain to fall on both and His sun to shine on both.
Religion / Re: Prayer Warrior Dies Of Ebola. Name Of Jesus Cannot Cure Ebola by torchwave: 10:02am On Sep 12, 2014
She preached the Word in the face of danger, she prayed for the sick, her life was a testimony because a dreaded disease like evd did not stop her from serving God - She fought the good fight of faith and died like a brave soldier of Christ.

Therefore is laid for her the crown of life which she shall receive for a life well spent and a glorious exit.

Right now, I'm going through a very difficult phase of seeking God.

This is why I have not been able to update the thread on my journey.

Whatever the battle or challenges or difficulties I face, I am always victorious because God has made me more than a conqueror.

Hopefully, next week I shall continue updating the thread on my journey to see the Face of God.

One thing I do have to tell you, I will never give up seeking God neither will I abandon this thread even after its purpose has been achieved. I will continue to be here for others here or yet to come to help them achieve the same experience.

So help me God.

@ nd07, I'm glad you found this thread especially because it involves the most important thing in life - seeking God.

I understand God has called you, like us and many others out there, to seek Him. It is IMPOSSIBLE to seek God unless He calls you to seek Him. Therefore, everyone here seeking God or inspired to seek God has the special call and blessing from God to seek His Face.

I only have a piece of advice for you.

Anyone who sets out to seek God already has the grace and ability to find Him. However, not many who seek God find Him. It is only those who are relentlessly and stubbornly determined in their search for God find Him. Only those who in their search for God do not give up no matter the length of time have the very blessed privilege of finding Him.

This has helped me on countless occasions to keep seeking God when I feel like giving up because I know that if I do not give up my search for Him, then I shall be counted among those who hear the voice of God. It is just a matter of time.

I pray God grants us the desires of our hearts.

It has been quite some time now since I updated this thread on my journey. My absence was not intentional. Was very busy in addition to the challenges I am facing seeking God. It is as if a flood of challenges was released to deter me from keeping my daily appointment with God. In all, God has always stood by me. His grace is evident now more than ever in my life as I pass through this stormy sea of challenges.

I am also glad to see the thread is capable of progress even in my absence. That is why I want us to interact, share experiences, help each other like we've all been doing. This thread has a very long life because it is a success thread and it will always be there for those who have begun their journey as well as those who are about to begin theirs.

And I hope it stays this way.

My sincere appreciation to all those who have kept the thread alive. God is your reward. We all have one goal and we should help and encourage each other towards the ultimate goal of existence - Fellowship with God.

Religion / Re: Seeking The Face Of God - The Journey by torchwave: 6:35pm On Aug 20, 2014
Bluish, I shall add to what Segedoo said.

The most important thing to know is that without the illumination of the Word by the Holy Spirit, all you have is the literal interpretation of the Word according to your understanding.

This is one reason I am not contented to live the ordinary Christian life without having the Holy Spirit as my Teacher.

However, for those of us that have not learnt to hear His voice, God did not leave us without help.

There are times when I read the Bible and something suddenly clicks. I gain a new and better understanding of a passage I must have read many times. It then baffles me why I had never thought of it that way.

Another way God aids my understanding of the Bible is when He makes a word or phrase or sentence suddenly leap from the Word. When it does my heart skips a beat because it happens to confirm something in my life or a revelation from God or it gives me a completely different understanding from the one I used to have concerning that passage.

This does not happen every time I read the Bible, but whenever it does I see something entirely new in the Word of God.

Others may have different experiences but this is basically the way God opens my eyes to His Word.
Religion / Re: Seeking The Face Of God - The Journey by torchwave: 5:45pm On Aug 20, 2014
Elijah78: @torchwave thanks for encouraging. Last night i couldn't meet my appointment with God do to the intense cold here and this morning i felt very remorseful. However i am encourage as you rightly said that ""I'm afraid any of the challenges I listed above will easily discourage you and you will quickly make the choice to quit and return to your ordinary and less fruitful way of life. A very big loss.''

I am very determine to persevere in my pursuit of God till i find Him.
I love your determination. It already makes you a candidate for God's voice. All we need is time to make it a reality. Richard Foster who wrote Celebration of Discipline said and I quote, "The overall preparation for a successful meditation is a personal conviction of its importance, and a staunch determination to persevere in its practice."

In addition, whenever you're unable to keep your appointment with God because of some humanly impossible phenomenon like environmental or bodily limitation like the cold you mentioned, and it is just not practicable even if you tried, then I suggest you rest for that day so as to continue the next day. No harm done.

It is perfectly normal to feel remorseful which is a proof of how much you desire not to miss your daily appointment with God, and that in itself is all that matters, your desire for God, but don't let your daily appointment with Him become a rigid affair that becomes unforgivable when you unintentionally miss it.

That is why our fellowship with God should not start and end in our quiet time with Him. We should let it spill into the rest of our day by being in tune for His voice as we learn to practice His Presence. It is equally important as our daily appointment with Him.

This takes much practice. From experience, it is quite difficult but like any other thing, practice makes perfect.

Stay blessed, bro.
Religion / Re: Seeking The Face Of God - The Journey by torchwave: 9:41am On Aug 20, 2014
WEEKLY UPDATE

I tell you, seeking God really takes determination to be successful - Challenges here and there, disappointment of hearing nothing days, weeks and months of consistently seeking Him, discipline in keeping your daily appointment with Him, denying yourself the pleasures of food, much sleep, and any other thing that gets in the way of keeping your daily appointment with God, uncertainty about the day you finally begin to hear the still small voice of God effortlessly, and the temptation to quit seeking God and return to the ordinary and less fruitful Christian way of life because it seems much easier to serve God that way.

Each day you are presented a choice to quit and return or persevere in your pursuit of God till you find Him.

This is why it is extremely important that you be very, very, very DETERMINED to find God before embarking on seeking Him because if you lack this quality of determination, I'm afraid any of the challenges I listed above will easily discourage you and you will quickly make the choice to quit and return to your ordinary and less fruitful way of life. A very big loss.

This is also another reason why I haven't quit seeking God. Determination helps me continue making the choice to persevere in my hunger and search for God despite the challenges and difficulties involved in the process because I know without a doubt that the day will come when I begin dialoguing with God - talking to God and hearing Him speak clearly to me, because I would not give up searching for Him.
