Huh, that's interesting cheesy

I never thought of this part, so basically just washing their money clean like drug dealers do.

I don't know about betting, but you see that bug brother, don't be fooled. Loads of unwholesome things happening on the voting end. Many Nigerian youths only use the free 100 votes per week. The large number of votes comes from housemates, their representatives and unscrupulous Multichoice Nigeria employees engaging in very unwholesome acts.

Can't go into the details of what happens here but leave out multichoice "pumped" voting.
Yeah I know, I am quite close to some big brother females lol. Mercy probably dropped like 20M (not connfirmed) for this latest big brother voting & she unfortunately lost, so I know the game grin

Another thing to note is their fans actually donate money big time after they come out, buy them all sort of gifts, cars etc. This I have confirmed personally & big time. But what surprises me is that some of these fans don't even have a ceiling fan to their names. Some can't even pay their kids school fees & struggling. I can't understand it.

MadamExcellency:
This is indeed a big problem...women generally don't want to marry men who make less money than them...and men feel insecure in that type of relationship.
It is a problem that is meant to exist, It was just a matter of time. I saw a public article about some Americans complaining that they cannot find men who match their earnings & CNN reported it too.

So it means if a lady makes $100k yearly, she would require a guy making that amount or higher which isn't that common, what happens in essense is some women would run out of partners to date, and men too. In 100 years from now, marriages will drop significantly below 50% globally.

There is nothing anyone can do about it, the problem is meant to stay.

homely, I'd take a Nigerian woman over an African American woman anyday. Them just get issues for head, that you have to iron out as a man.
Any Nigerian man that even marries an African American woman over Nigerian woman is not even an informed person except he has stayed in the US for a long time, because all of you get is threat of losing your sanity over divorce and then fighting over custody of kids like a crazy family. Next thing you'd hear is that she has become a lesbian & now has a lesbian partner, those people have no filter. I can not near them with an inch of pole even for an American citizenship, i rather work my ass off for it.

No go area for me.

I wonder too, we are poor but they are always online and following every tiktok trend, voting on BBN and betting every day, nothing will make me build anything freemium ever again and I will continue to advocate that other developers do the same, by the time they can't find a free version for anything, they will be forced to pay
Yes that's correct, but once you ensure that your product covers those areas Nigerians pay for, you are safe. I used to wonder why Flutterwave & Patricia (Nigeria crypto exchange) payed 1 Billion Naira each to Big brother organisers, honestly it's because they know Nigerian youths are block-heads. It is only tiktok trends & BBN that appeals to us.

If Seun builds a betting platform today & name it "Nairaland Betting", you will see how Seun will become a Multi-Billionaire in few months.

Nigerians are too poor. One way to know how people are poor, check what they spend the most on. If it is food, then they are poor.
We are poor but then so many jobless youths spend their time and money voting for big brother and sports betting. These are the 2 things Nigerians spend money on.

One person here said he's doing his employer a favor by giving them his time.

I said No!

It's the other way around...The employers are the one doing you a favor by helping you maximize your skill, potential, paying you and helping you aquire experience which will help you in other aspects of life or your career.

Yes the employers take more of the gains and profits.

But if the business was to collapse they'd be the one to take all the losses too not the employees.

9-5fers are ok with this setup.

Those who aren't Ok with this setup and think they're slaving away are usually the ones who becomes the Employers anyway grin
You're are definitely a block head with this response because they have already answered you that it is called An exchange of value NOT doing favour like you term it.

The employer is not doing me a favour & I am also not doing them a favour, they offer me money for the value I bring. Nobody is doing anybody favours here.

If the employer behaves like a slowpoke, you are free to resign as they aren't doing you a favour.

And the understanding of this will help you apply tact in working with people that are not like you, however yet purposefully working with them to get the desired results you seek. Oftentimes, being blind ti fault helps
LMAO, the character flaw of an HR should be managed by the new recruit? Isn't that hypocritical? We should be blind to fault, lmao!

If an HR that represents the company already has character flaw, then that company is not worth working for because the same attitude will continue with the rest of the employees of that company. It is going to be a toxic company anyway, so the best thing is to Opt out of whole process and move on, not working to get any nonsense desired result from a useless HR.

I came across a Job post on Devcenter where someone applied for a Mid-level C# Backend Engineer & went through with the interview process. Only to show up for the virtual interview and the interviewer didn't show up, no updates, no emails, nothing.

He then sent an email to the HR to remind him of the Interview, no response too. After several days he want to where the job post was ,ade to complain & the response from the HR was disappointing to say the least.

Even to write proper english, HR cannot write using the word "AM". I am just tired of Nigerian HRs.

If I am the developer, this is already a RED FLAG for me & I won't be working for this type of company. God Forbid.

Why asking? Why can't Seùn allow Nlders earn money from his forum like TikTok and IG?

Now you wan know how much content creators on those platforms earn.
How much is Seun himself making from the Forum that he wants to give people money, the forum has taken a nose dive financially & Naira has become worthless too because the forum received Ad payments in Naira.

So far the only platform that makes income enough to feed one’s family is YouTube, apart from YouTube all other platforms are just playing around.

I have watched few of her videos. In one, she said her parents moved via the Visa Lottery and she appreciates being in the US considering the stories she hears from her cousins in Nigeria. But is the same across the Atlantic in the UK and parts of Europe?

I hope the second generation pays it forward.
For this it really depends on how the first generation parents pass on their knowledge & discipline, what I have found in the UK especially is kids going to school to study courses like Music & Arts, they don't even want to do anything engineering. Usually they rather focus on Youtube & content creation doing vlog & lifestyle videos. Not that it's a bad thing but once those social media platforms kick them out, it's over. I know some family friends in the UK who constantly have to take their kids to Nigerian to see the suffering of people, so they can have a sense of privilege that they have.

But i think Indians & Pakistani kids are different, rarely will you see them doing those types of courses even for second or third generation. They usually focus more of building startups.

Sha, it is their lifestyle, and debt aids the economy in terms of consumption. However, obtaining a loan to use it for leisure purposes (travel, not car purchase) does not make economic sense to me.

The bold is true. While most might be contented, to live a truly comfortable life with low debt, one needs to amass enough in liquid cash, investments and salary. Your last line is also interesting because it means black Africans should have a leg up or be equally financially (factoring social/racial differences) in the abroad compared to natives. Is that applicable to first generation or second generation Nigerians?
Yes black Africans do have an advantage, first generation immigrants hustle more & over work themselves just to raise some extra funds for cushion. They usually save up for their kids tuition or create a kids trust fund account, work extra hours and pay it off once. They also don't usually chase their kids out immediately after 18, the home was still a shelter for most African kids.

There is a tech Youtuber named Bukola who works in Google, in one of her videos she spoke about how her parents paid off her tuition & they never needed to take loans, this helped her focus more on her career & take jobs that she really loved instead of living for survival trying to pay off loans.

Immigrants also built wealth faster, they focus more on STEM courses rather humanities that usual natives focus on. An average black African or Indian will rather study medicine in the US than a native American. Meanwhile native black Americans keep complaining that life is unfair & most of them want to be come rappers.

Ideally, an average human need absolutely nothing in this life but good foods, shelter and sex, which their systems has already taken care of irrespective of your social status. You cant promote the culture of wealth accumulation and build egalitarian society that is free of needless crimes, this is where Africans failed totally.

The reason you think paycheck is bad, is because you are looking forward to build wealth or living above your means. The reason you think accumulation of wealth is very important is merely because of fear of future, which is very understandable in this part of the world. Their societies are designed in such a way that you don't have any reason to accumulate wealth because you will be taking care of when you retire, and your children too would be well taking care of.

The rich among them also prioritise their societies because luxury comes with heavy taxes.

Finally, if their way of living by paycheck is not that good, then why are we living in poverty in Africa where there is no such opportunity? If their system is not that good, why are they progressing, while we that aften sees fault in them retrogressing? Why are we rushing to the same countries but fail to learn anything good from them?
I don't know why you folks in Nigeria get brainwashed that you don't need money once you "Travel Abroad" & all you need is "Better life".

Every part of the world you live, whether ABROAD or Nigeria you need money to survive therefore to accumulate wealth/have liquid - You want to know why? Read on;

1. Kids education: Student loans are required for your kids University & your kids will have to go through it if your parents cannot pay outrightly. Except maybe you live in Germany or those European schools that give free tertiary education to their citizens.

- This means your kids will be stuck in the future with student loans. Most African parents pay of their kids tuition immediately.

2. Home ownership: To purchase a property you require at least 10% down payment for your house, you need at least save that money. Let's say you want to buy a house of $300k (Basic Price of House), you require around $30k USD.

- Where will you get that $30k USD from if you don't accumulate wealth?
- Will you steal it from the market?
- Do you think they pluck money from trees abroad?

3. Loss of job: many people faced the risk of eviction or foreclosure, particularly if they were unable to pay their rent or mortgage.

- This happened during the COVID19 pandemic, people living paycheck to paycheck were stuck with homelessness.
- Many individuals turned to credit cards, loans, or borrowed money from friends and family, leading to increased debt and financial stress.

4. The inflation: in the UK & Canada has moved up exponentially & a basic housing that cost $500 in 2002, now cost $1400 per month. The cost of living has risen crazily above what salaries can cover. This means you have to work twice as much as you worked in 2002.

- When inflation occurs, the cost of living rises, which means that the same amount of money buys fewer goods and services. For individuals already struggling to cover their basic expenses on each paycheck, inflation effectively reduces their real income, making it even harder to make ends meet.

yemmit90:
Fortunately, you don't need to amassed wealth to enjoy good things life can offer, that is the basic philosophy of developed countries we all are running to now. All you need is working system that will take care of you at old age.

Until Africans are able to solve their physiological needs, we will continue to lag behind on the scale of development. Foods and shelter should be the last worry of an average human being in a functioning society.
This is a partially false, most of the people living paycheck to paycheck are always in disarray when they lose their jobs. The citizens are paid monthly when unemployed but sometimes that money may not be enough, so they have to work to live above their cost of living. A lot of Europeans get loans for vacation, then travel. They start working to repay those loans in years or months, that is difficult as well.

Regarding pensions, It works perfectly abroad & that one I can speak for.

You actually need enough liquid cash, investments to live a safe & comfortable life. Don't let anyone deceive you with this European lifestyle. For example, most African parents who relocated don't take student loans, they pay their kids tuition fully so as to enable their kids build wealth in the future.

European system is good, but it is not perfect.

I was paying 600 euros 2002 when i was in Madrid in my appartment
that same amount is what my brother is still paying till now because i left the appartment for him, infact during covid 19 era the landlord reduced the rent to 400 euros for him, that is how normal countries should be, from 2004 shipping of cars to Nigeria was 1000 euros till now is still the same in Spain, in some countries they slashed the price down self, like France and Belgium etc
This is not true for countries across Europe, I guess madrid is a good place to live but a decent apartment that was $500 in UK or Canada in 2002 is now $1400 in 2023. Infact Canada has housing crisis at the moment. You can read about it using Google, it is not an hidden news at all.

- Abuja
- Ibadan
- Abia & Imo
- Osun
- Ogun

I enjoyed Abuja so much, I wish I could live my whole life there. A place where it feels decent than lagos.

Food is cheap, flexing is cheap. Restaurants don't charge you 80k for Eat out like Lagos on one sitting. I spent 10k & I ate like crazy.

Uber rides were so cheap, that Lagosians who come around usually leave their change with drivers if paying in cash.

I like Abia & Imo, they have the finest girls but Infrastructure is terrible in the east.

Ibadan is full of people abusing each other, cheap food is in Ibadan, I enjoyed that.

Osun state is like a deserted land with so much poverty, shior!

Ogun state was okay but so many evil people & skull miners, I'm scared of ogun state for real!

All you do is tell her what to do, have you ever asked her what she wants to do so you can help her fashion that to fit your plans of having her watch the kids. Flip this coin and view it from her perspective. Since 9- 5 doesn't make anyone rich, why are you keeping yours? why not resign, start up a business too so you have time for the kids.
You men just feel every woman's goal or priority is to raise children. Some are more ambitious than most of you but because society has made it so, they mortgage their lives to satisfy you all. I hope you apply diplomacy and hear her out. That she loves cooking and baking does not mean she must see it as a career path. Work out something that will favour the family, but around her path and see her follow your recommendation bumper to bumper.
Ambition to be earning 100k from customer service work while standard of living is x10 of that. All in the name of wearing heels to work to call herself career woman. Meanwhile all the salary will finish from transportation. Let her apply to International Oil Companies or High Skilled accounting job if she is really skilled.

A lot of women see wearing heels & posting office pictures on Instagram as ambition, which is just crazy. Ambition is actually having a career path & following it through.
