Unfortunately, there's no way around the fact that the old testament law is one of quick judgment. Even today many societies still practice this form of moral code, without apology. There are countries where beheadings are perfectly legal, and other places where the issue of honor is taken very seriously, and people have been known to kill their family members for besmirching the family name.

Back then, if even parents could cause their own children to be put to death, how much more a stranger. Some might consider issues like abortion to be the modern equivalent nowadays.



Just the other day I saw a video on the web that was so sickening that I couldnt watch it. An Amazon tribe deep in the jungle, routinely buries alive young babies and children, and someone filmed it and posted the footage on the web. These kind of things used to be accepted parts of many cultures everywhere.

When such things are routine and accepted in a society, that society is labelled primitive and uncivilized. And comparing the actions of people during dark ages, to their actions thousands of years later when their morality must have changed somewhat, is rather far fetched.

some of Huxley's topics are very interesting. I'm not too familiar with what he posts, but he seems to be an evolutionist and general doubter of Christianity.

Right now I'm checking out his thread about Elijah, the bears and the children (killing in the name of religion), and I find it very interesting.

His pointing out things like these is actually forcing me to examine some of them more critically and I'm getting a better understanding of the context though there's still much to be learned.

I wonder why. Were they flown over from Nigeria to watch them die, or are the families Indonesian.

Very sad. Drugs can kill in more ways than one.

I don't know anything that can drag my legs to that Indonesia even as a vacation spot. Wasnt that the same place where over 10,000 people died in a tsunami?

The setting is 1920s Louisiana.  The princess was originally cast as a maid, but later changed to a princess maybe after doing some market surveys.

The storyline will probably be African American, not directly African.

Louisiana has a rich culture anyway. So there should be plenty of themes and material to use.

I think the movie may appeal more to an African American audience, rather than an African one.

We should immediately cut all ties with INDONESIA

We should send travel warning to Nigerians: If you have Nigerian passport, don't go INDONESIA.

We should set-up 'NGO', and use this as proxy to do all the dirty war.

We should place SANCTION on them and bully all AFRICAN countries to follow; they need our money, banks etc.

We should have ENEMY ACT' bill, and put such country on the LIST

THE Federal Government has appealed to the Republic ofIndonesia to temper justice with mercy and halt the planned execution of two Nigerians held on allegation of drug trafficking in that country.

As at press time, the names of the two Nigerians were not made available.

The government made the appeal in Abuja yesterday when the Indonesian Ambassador, Nurhadi Djazuli, paid an official visit on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Madueke.

Madueke said Nigeria condemns any form of law breaking by its citizens anywhere in the world but called on the government of Indonesia to

Commute the charges and give room for their rehabilitation back home in Nigeria.

While stating that Nigeria was not in a position to pass comment or judgment on any country that imposes the death penalty on drug trafficking, Maduekwe appealed to the Indonesian President to

commute the sentences in the spirit of the over 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The minister used the opportunity to also admonish Nigerians living in other countries to obey the laws of their host countries, stressing: "If you go to countries that have death sentence for drug trafficking, you have to realise that you don't violate the laws of these countries".

He noted that there has been a breakdown of family values leading to the collapse of morals in the traditional and religious systems.

Maduekwe disclosed that the ministry was collaborating with other stakeholders with cognate experience to embark on a sensitization workshop to educate Nigerians on the dangers of engaging in unwholesome activities in foreign countries.

The workshop will be used to appeal to Nigerians to always be law abiding when they travel out of the country.

He challenged leaders at all community levels to address the issues of drug trafficking, prostitution and financial fraud.

I read the Narnia books along with Enid Blyton as a kid, and watched the BBC narnia series as well. I was so surprised Disney decided to make the first movie and even more surprised they did Prince Caspian. So anyway I'll collect both ( I already have the first one).

I always felt it would be difficult to do justice to the books, in a movie. They did try with the first one, though it could have been shorter. Pretty impressive, however.

The first Incredible Hulk movie didnt quite measure up to the tv series, in my opinion.
This one may be better, since most of the reviews have been positive ones.
But why are the Hulks looking more and more inhuman? huh The one in the tv series looked somewhat "softer" than these CGI hulks, if you know what I mean. I'll try to catch this new one though.


Currently watching Doctor Zhivago (piecemeal). I want to see why its considered an all-time classic.

Disney has cast every race except the black one in most of their Princess movies.

Its about time they had a black princess. The problem is can they portray her in a culturally sensitive way that wont antagonize or be offensive to blacks (or any race). The black princess will also have to be acceptable to non-blacks, ie someone they can identify with. Its a tricky situation, as they could loose money if they arent careful.

Even Tarzan (one of my favorite Disney movies by the way), was set in Africa but had white main characters. I don't have a problem with that though. The movie is good, whichever way you look at it.

The Lion King (another classic), also set in Africa, had no humans at all.

come to think of it, there's never been a black prince either. Even Rodger & Hammerstein's Cinderella with Brandy as the princess, and Whitney Houston as the fairy godmother, had a Filipino prince, not a black one.  cool

In New York, roadside vendors sell everything from suya to hotdogs to soft drinks, but I don't hear any daft Nigerian bushwhacker looking down on them because of it. Indeed, they will even consider themselves blessed to be able to buy these things from the street sellers.

many Nigerians only want to see Nigerian slums- those are the only places where they can feel comfortable, it seems. They're not used to luxury and have no chance of living a good life inside Nigeria.

If you're Nigerian ( especially one living outside the country), abeg, these photos no be Abuja oh. Na Nairobi kenya and South Africa.

Some of those slum areas will make for good development property when Lagos begins to run out of land.

In developed countries like the US, ghetto areas of town are sometimes cleared out to make way for new development and when they want to upgrade a place. Happens all the time.

If some people here can begin to name their local governments and home towns, maybe the slums can be relocated to those areas, since thats all they ever want to see. wink

The Old Man and the Donkey

It was a bright sunny morning in a mountain village.  An old man and his grandson were going to the market in the large town in the valley to sell a donkey.  The donkey was beautifully groomed and brushed and they set off happily down the steep path.  In a while they passed some people lounging by the side of the path.

"Look at that silly pair!" said one of the onlookers.  "There they go scrambling and stumbling down the path, when they could be riding comfortably on the back of that sure-footed beast."

The old man heard this and thought it was right.  So he and the boy mounted the donkey, and thus continued their descent.

Soon they passed another group of people gossiping by the wayside. "Look at the lazy pair, breaking the back of that poor donkey!"

The old man thought they were right, and since he was the heavier, he decided to walk while the boy rode.

In a little while they heard more comments. "Look at that disrespectful child - he rides while the old man walks!"

The old man thought they were right, and it was only proper that he should ride while the boy walked.

Sure enough, they soon heard this: "What a mean old man, riding at his ease while the poor child has to try to keep up on foot!"

By this time the old man and the boy were becoming increasingly bewildered. When they finally heard the criticism that the donkey would be all worn out and no one would want to buy him after the long walk to the market, they sat down, dejected, by the side of the road.

After the donkey had been allowed to rest for a while, they continued the journey, but in a completely different manner.  Thus it was, later that afternoon, that old man and the boy were seen gasping breathlessly into the market.  Slung on a pole between them, hung by his tied feet, was the donkey!

Sometimes it all about attitude?Tell that to the thousands of Nigerians who have died because they couldn't afford basic medical care.Just look at the high rates of infant mortality,maybe some of those infants had attitude problems.

The loudest whiners about Nigeria are the ones outside the country.

I'm also a Nigerian in Diaspora. I see it as a serious waste of time to continually whine about the country as if I receive money for doing so. maybe some do, but i dont.

Anyone who resides outside Nigeria and is fed up with Nigeria, SHOULD RENOUNCE THEIR NIGERIAN NATIONALITY.

That way you dont have to bother yourself with whatever is happening in Nigeria. Its not by force to be Nigerian abeg.

Two nigerians I met said they were from Cameroon.

As I was outside talking to one Nigerian, I'mentioned that (insert name here) said he's from Cameroon.

The Nigerian dude got offended and said 'HE'S FROM BENIN" I said oh, he's from the other side of Nigeria.

He said NO! He's from Benin, Nigeria - he lied to you.

In the US, mexican refried beans is something like ewa agonyin,though it doesnt quite taste the same.

The difference might be the pepper sauce and the method of cooking. The Nigerian version tastes better, i think.

i tried the canned variety once and didnt like it.

Van Vicker is definitely better looking than wentworth. He's just not a Hollywood star, thats all.
