Let us not use these attacks as a justification for your hatred. hmmmmmmm the real issue is the world cup, you are saying? as per the bolded- you can't be serious. warped logic trying to justify the riots. only shows you yourself harbor this kind of genocidal hatred, otherwise you wouldnt be so quick to imagine hatred in others. |

Mpele: Apartheid was bad but at least there level of crime was low, there was no electricity powercuts and we didn't have so many illegal immigrants. We wouldn't have such problems now if we had a white president or Mandela was still the president. Our borders were opened and South Africans were not warned that the whole of Africa is coming this side. You must understand that many South Africans don't know anything about Africa. They don't even know where is Nigeria located or Ghana or Egypt. They actually don't give a damn about Africa. Ask any South African teenager about Africa you'll be horified. The government should have taught our people about Africa and Africans in general. the govt should teach its people about Africa, and the people can also teach themselves about Africa. many blacks in America still taught themselves how to read and write when it was an express crime to do so. Or some paid white kids to teach them. this is the 21st century- there's no excuse for a vast majority not to know anything about Africa and be proud of it even though they are Africans. But I'm sure they know the location of Ethiopia, thanks to the color scale. Mpele: Yes I think that it was necessary for me to do that because some Morpheus said that the world cup must be taken away from us. South Africa earned this world cup. It was not given to us like Germany. We earned the right to host it through sheer hardwork. Just because some morons decide to beat up people the your some insane Nigerian thinks that the world cup must be taken away from us hell no!! Countries like America that wiped out Vietnamesse hosted the world cup in 94. Germany that wiped out more than a million Jews hosted the world cup in 1974 and 2006, did your people complain NO! Just because some Nigerian illegal immigrant was beatern up in Johannesburg you now think that the World Cup must be taken away from us. Its high time Nigerians realises that their voices don't hold water anywhere. There is this underlying jelousy about South Africa from Nigerians. Always wanting South Africa to fail. HANDS OFF THE WORLD CUP I don't believe Nigerians werent killed in these riots. |

sometime i wonder how some people think, can u please read the post again n again before posting please?
This guy says he is a shy person n he is asking if its possible for any girl to love him simple.
how can someone who is shy love 1st, where is the gut / confidence going to come from?
@mayorde
i think u should just try n build your confidence gradually, take your time on this just mix with ladies often ok.
1 more thing always ask yourself this qtion anytime ''WHAT WILL I DO IF I WERE'NT AFRAID?'' this is not only applicable to love matters alone ok, it works alot.
I am part of this. someone asking if its possible for any girl to love him, has serious self confidence issues. he is a man- you feel he needs to be mollycoddled like a woman? maybe na woman sha. besides, check the thread title- he said he wants to be loved. Sometimes its better to give love first, then you receive it. Even if you're starting a business, you invest something first, not to mention matters of the heart. If I ask someone this kind of question, i hope i'd receive the same answer i myself gave. he has to build his self worth first or else he'll never get out of the rut. at least my own comment will spark a definite reaction in him. Yours will help him feel more sorry for himself. |

Tornadoz: @OlowoTee Abi o my sister. The whole agberos in Nigeria have traveled to SA to hustle and expect to be treated as kings. The killings, repugnant as it seems, should be a wake up call to us. look here, so what if Nigerian agberos travelled to South Africa? (ignoring all the gainfully employed Nigerians doing legitimate business or studying there of course. It seems a lot of people here only know agberos- maybe they are agberos themselves). is that any reason why they should be murdered and roasted in broad daylight? Does South Africa not have its own agberos and are they attacked by mobs in this manner? the point which many of you are failing to understand here is that there is a breakdown of law and order, and the government of South Africa needs to step up and do something about it. A criminal is supposed to be tried in a court of law, not matcheted and burnt on the streets in a display of barbarism. And besides. the person could be innocent- he isnt given a chance to defend himself before being attacked by the killers. Thats the problem when people spend their time complaining about everything. After a while it becomes a habit thats difficult to drop no matter how ridiculous you sound. All the people screaming go home go home- millions of people should just come home immediately with no solid plan or infrastructure and turn into refugees to be roasted at whim, abi. South Africa's government has pledged to protect foreigners threatened by a recent outbreak of violence that has forced 13,000 to flee their homes.
Officials also said the country would not deport illegal immigrants during the current period.
The attacks began a week ago north of Johannesburg, before spreading to the city and surrounding areas.
At least 23 people have been killed, and ministers have been discussing using troops to quell the violence.
On Tuesday police fired rubber bullets to disperse a crowd in one suburb during a crackdown on the violence
During a visit to a refuge for migrants in east Johannesburg, Minister for Safety and Security Charles Nqakula promised protection and temporary accommodation to foreigners.
He said there would be tough law enforcement and no more foreigners should be harassed.
His wife, Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, said the government could not "be seen to be opportunistic".
"We cannot take advantage of people who are finding themselves in a state of vulnerability," he said.
"We have an obligation at this point in time to ensure that their lives are protected."
Officials have not ruled out deploying troops, as demanded by human rights groups and the opposition.
Gwede Mantashe, Secretary General of the ruling African National Congress (ANC), said that if the army was deployed, it would be to back up the police.

Kobojunkie: Should we make laws to criminalize xenophobia then so as to appease you ?? I have visited South Africa and my view remains same that this sort of thing is to be expected. We live in Africa. Look at the events of the past decade alone in Africa and you get a good idea of what and how people handle their fears and their issues. What these people did is atrocious but what do you think you can do about it ?? Go to war with South Africa?? Boast that you are better in treating your own than they are?? Sign petitions to have the people apologize to you I mean what exactly can you do about it?? Look at Zimbabwe. I read many of those who are now dead are Zimbabweans. Do you think Mugabe is out there telling Mbeki that he will close his borders if he, Mbeki, does not find a solution immediately? Do you think the congolese government, that is busy dealing with terrorists in it's own borders who comit the same acts daily are busy demanding answers from Mbeki?? The list goes on. half the time you dont know what you're talking about. The Zimbabwean immigrants are supposed to be considered refugees due to the situation in their home countries, and since they crossed over in their millions within a very short time. Same goes for the Congolese, if they came to South Africa en masse within a given time frame. Maybe you dont know what a refugee is, or what a govt is supposed to do in a refugee situation. Interesting how you dont question the law enforcement in South Africa, but will quickly yell Nigeria at any given opportunity, regardless if there's any valid reason to do so or not. |

It just shows you have not been in Nigeria for a while. Go and travel on your roads and see countless dead bodies roasted along the way side from collisions of luxurious buses and stalled molues and make-shift 18-wheelers as death traps for unsuspecting motorists. Go and see how many okada passagers convulse by the road sides daily as they are ejected from their seats to hit pavements with their heads. See blood gushing out like "ogbonor" soup from a human being's head. Yet one minister took like 300milllion Naira for transportation and an ugly incestous barrack ex-president cannot account for like 16 billion in his imaginary investing in "power" sector.
So why should I be moved by a burning flesh when I have seen worse. How many times have my brothers and even sister carried dead bodies in my presence to hospitals only to watch people convulsing behind the car till they gave up the ghost while you so-called stupid police men are asking for "police reports" and most of the so-called doctors are in tombo bars fingering nurses with short skirts and dresses?
I say you are not serious at all. Go to your country and see the real thing I say! what do all these things you're mentioning have to do with the south African crusade against foreigners? There is nothing new to what you're saying here. Do you know what the medical staff and mortuary attendants in Nigeria see everyday? Most of the doctors are not fingering the nurses. The vast majority of them are busy working their butts off trying to help their patients and hustling to make a living, same as anywhere else. Just like in every profession anywhere in the world, there will be a few who go to work only to jack off and get high, but that doesnt mean its all of them who do that. I have many relatives who have been involved in near-fatal car accidents in Nigeria. I have lost relations to car accidents. My relative died in Liberia due to an accident- his body was sent home for burial. I wont say because of that I must hate all Liberians. My mom was involved in a near fatal accident in the US years ago. Someone hit her car and left her hanging over a bridge about to fall into the river underneath. Till this day I don't know how she survived. Neither does she. She had to wear a cast on her neck for months afterwards.Things happen. There are people who lost a parent in the US to random shooting and gang violence. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know a woman who was left with four kids to raise alone after her husband was killed by a stray bullet. Just like there are evil Nigerians who glory in demented activities, there are also countless others who will express their sympathy and regret for unfortunate and bad things that happen. Demonizing an entire nation because of the actions of a few evil ones makes no sense to me. Of course most people have had bad experiences back home- some worse than others. Bad tidings are not the prerogative of a select few. So what kind of attitude would you expect from say a Sierra Leonian or Liberian who watched their parents being killed and eaten by rebels? Or who were forced to kill and eat their own mothers during the war? Is it only Nigeria that has problems? if you're on your way to work and someone grabs you, ties you to the back of a truck and drags you for miles simply because they don't like foreigners or blacks, would you excuse this kind of behavior because " Nigerians deserve it". Or you feel it can never happen to you. |

Irish immigration to Puerto Rico
In the 19th century, there was considerable Irish immigration to Puerto Rico, for a number of reasons. In Ireland during the 1840s, potato fungus created the Irish Potato Famine which killed over one million Irish people and created nearly two million refugees. These refugees went to the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and, among other places, the Caribbean. One of the islands that many Irish emigrated to in large numbers was Puerto Rico
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_immigration_to_Puerto_Rico In colonial times, the Irish population in America was second in number only to the English. Many early Irish immigrants were of sturdy, Scotch-Irish stock. Pushed out of Ireland by religious conflicts, lack of political autonomy and dire economic conditions, these immigrants were pulled to America by the promise of land ownership and greater religious freedom.
Most Scotch-Irish immigrants were educated, skilled workers
http://memory.loc.gov/learn/features/immig/irish.html French Emigration The French immigration to Puerto Rico during the 18th and 19th century came about as a result of various economic and political situations which occurred in Louisiana (USA), Saint-Domingue (Haiti) and in Europe
wiki Cajuns (French: les Cadiens) are an ethnic group mainly living in Louisiana, consisting of the descendants of Acadian exiles and peoples of other ethnicities with whom the Acadians eventually intermarried on the semitropical frontier. Today, the Cajuns make up a significant portion of south Louisiana's population, and have exerted an enormous impact on the state's culture British In the early 1970s large numbers of British citizens emigrated, principally to Australia. By 1975 the numbers leaving the UK had reached 168,000 a year, although it then dropped back.
Until the mid 1980s, overall emigration from the UK was higher than immigration. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3982217.stm Between 1815 and 1929, 11.4 million people left Britain for overseas destinations, part of a European wide phenomenon. Emigration was related to the growth of the international economy and emigrants invariably moved to places where they would expect to find an increase in their incomes. The main destinations for British and Irish emigrants were America and Canada, and later, Australia.
Liverpool Liverpool was the primary port for emigration, some 60% of emigrants set out from there. The years 1847-1851 saw 2,769 passenger ships sail from Liverpool, carrying 765,159 passengers to ports worldwide. In The 100 years between 1830 and 1930, over a million emigrants passed through Liverpool to start new lives abroad.
Journey conditions In the early days emigration was an option only for the desperate or very tough. There was little chance of returning home and postal communication was of a poor standard. The trip could take 35 to 40 days on average but up to twice as long in bad weather. Conditions on board were often horrific; especially travelling 'steerage' (the cheapest quarters), where malnutrition and disease were rife. In the earliest years emigrants literally camped between decks, sleeping on narrow wooden bunks. They provided and cooked their own food and took their own utensils and bedding. Washing and toilet facilities were minimal. There was almost no privacy and ventilation below deck was negligible. Regulations were gradually passed, however, to improve conditions. For example, in 1842 each passenger had to have at least 10 square feet of space between decks. In 1849 the food ration was to increase and in 1852 sickbays were to be provided. Unfortunately, government regulations for the inspection of emigrant ships were barely enforced because of the lack of officers, so the emigrant's journey often remained an extremely uncomfortable experience.

Interestingly, as the stock of Italian emigrants abroad increased, so did their remittances sent back home, thus encouraging further emigration, even in the face of factors that might logically be thought to decrease the need to leave (such as increased wages at home). This has been termed "persistent and path-dependent emigration flow"; that is, friends and relatives who leave first, send back money for tickets, and help relatives as they arrive. This tends to support an emigration flow since even improving conditions in the sending country (Italy) take a while to trickle down to potential emigrants to convince them not to leave.
A 1927 study by the Italian government estimated that there were some 9,200,000 living abroad—one fifth of the Italian nation lived abroad.
wiki Portuguese Emigration
Portugal has long been a nation whose people emigrated. Socially significant emigration first occurred in the fifteenth century and sixteenth century during the great explorations. Although the Portuguese established trading posts at many places in Africa and Asia, Brazil was the main colony of settlement. Later, numbers of Portuguese settled in the African colonies of Angola and Mozambique.
Between 1886 and 1966, Portugal lost an estimated 2.6 million people to emigration, more than any West European country except Ireland.
The main motive for emigration, at least in modern times, was economic. Portugal was long among the poorest countries in Europe. Brazil was the destination of choice.Despite occasional tensions between them and the Brazilians, the Portuguese saw Brazil as a land of the future with abundant land and jobs. Hence, about 30 percent of Portugal's emigrants settled there between 1864 and 1973. A final surge of Portuguese emigrants was caused by the Revolution of 1974, when an estimated 20,000 to 30,000 Portuguese associated with the former regime fled or were exiled to Brazil. According to government estimates, more than 1 million Portuguese were living in Brazil in the 1980s.
Emigration to North America was also intense. By the late 1980s, it was estimated that the number of Portuguese and persons of Portuguese descent living in this continent amounted to more than 1 million in the United States and 400,000 in Canada.
Portuguese emigration to the United States often involved whole families, rather than just the men.Another characteristic of the Portuguese migration to the United States was that many were fishermen from the Azores who came to work in areas offshore of New England. Others migrated from Madeira and São Tomé.
Portugal sought to fill up its vast African spaces with people. The state allowed prisoners to work off their sentences by settling in Africa,

It is not a secret at all as even I had to watch my self as a Nigerian in South Africa. Talk of drugs, prostitution, murder and you name it, many honest Nigerians in South Africa will tell you that Hillbrow is high crime area in Gauteng and Nigerians are notorious criminals in that area. so in cases of organized mob rampage like this one, do you think its the "criminals" among the immigrants who are attacked? The alleged Nigerian mafioso will most likely have foreknowledge of the attacks or else will be able to escape with the help of their South African partners in crime.
