sometimes it also depends on the man's character.

If he's the type that has given his parents mother multiple headaches for years due to an unsettled lifestyle, then after a while the relatives wont be too picky about who he marries- they'll even thank the prospective fiancee for helping him settle down.

However, if he's the mother's darling and always been of good behavior then she'll scrutinize his girlfriends with a microscope.

are there any Jamaican restaurants in Nigeria? huh Just wondering.

I had some Jamacan curry chicken the other day and it was so good. Finger licking good as a matter of fact.

I've got to get that recipe.

though if you live overseas and especially in the US its not uncommon for people to turn paler in winter then darken a bit in summer.

less vs more sunlight.

If his mum is Igbo then why is Yoruba culture the only barrier being mentioned? huh

so far you havent said what his dad thinks of your relationship, or if your boyfriend has any extensive contact with his dad.

His uncle refusing to let his daughter marry an Igbo man is a totally different situation since the person involved is female, not male. These little distinctions matter in Nigerian culture.

May God deliver Nigerians from these 419 fraudsters. Countless numbers of people have been scammed by these confidence tricksters who will surely get theirs in the near future.

well, what I noticed is as soon as they find cures for deadly diseases which subsequently no longer pose a threat to human well being, another set of deadlier diseases surfaces from somewhere.

God help us.

michele101:
nah look at omotola wen she was little
go to her website
tonto and rita use a little cream to tone up
she's still a bit light in that picture. The overall lighting is what's making her look darker.

If you noticed, she has her dad's face and skin tone. He also seems somehow light in a way.

However, most people use creams for an even skin sheen, so you do have a point.

I'm trying to see what she got from her mother- maybe the cheekbones? huh

Anyway, if you people can deliver yourselves from over reliance on juju mentality and pompous airs, then you wouldnt need a white man to lead you around.
Politics › Re: What Is Stopping Southern Nigeria From Becoming A Separate Nation? by tpiah: 6:35am On May 28, 2009
this is the kind of attitude that's sucking the life out of many Nigerians today.

Instead of looking for practical ways to make a difference, they wander away in dreamland and what-might-have-been or some other such hallucinogenic nirvana. Meanwhile, nothing gets done but their mouths can curse the living daylights when ranting about some other "evils" exclusive to Nigeria.
Politics › Re: What Is Stopping Southern Nigeria From Becoming A Separate Nation? by tpiah: 6:25am On May 28, 2009
FACE:
I have never disputed the fact that food is cheaper in the north and there is a lot of food stuff flowing from the north to the south, which are fully paid for by the buyers in the south in any case. Southerners will probably have to device another way of cooking jollof rice without the tomatoes from the north. However, there are also food baskets in the south like Abakaliki, Afikpo and Ohaji in the south east.

With regards to food sustainability of the south, should either side stay on their own, the north will lose and poverty will increase further in the north if they refuse to sell to the south. They need the market in the south to continue to earn an income. On the other hand, if the south cannot get food from the north, they can either get them from Cameroon, Ghana, Benin, Garbon or better still increase their production of food stuff just like Israel does not depend on the Arab states for food.

Like I said before, every part of Nigeria has something to offer, but lets try not to overstate southern dependence on the north for food as if the north is giving away the food stuff free of charge with no benefit to the producers.
so Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Gabon and other countries you want to mention, dont do business with the north?

Make una siddon dey fan una sef!!!

na only jollof rice you dey worry about? Better talk to the Scandinavians to supply more stockfish!

Watched Hollywood Chinese

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_Chinese

quite interesting. Early Asian actresses were cast as mistresses and whatnot, it seems. Some were also Eurasians who didnt really have pronounced Asian features. eg Nancy Kwan.

Surprisingly, I dont think there was anything on The King and I. There was also no mention of Memoirs of a Geisha.

and whaddaya know- Jamie Foxx representing black people (or maybe himself) at the George Strait Country Music/Academy of Country Music awards. What is it with this guy and oyibos- he was like the only black face in a place filled to capacity with thousands or tens of thousands of people.

The rumor about him playing Frank Sinatra was fake though. It was started by some gossip forum and unfortunately snapped up by a few British tabloids.
Family › Re: What Should Children Do If They Catch Either Parent Cheating? by tpiah: 5:44am On May 28, 2009
in a country like Nigeria, they dont call it cheating unless it involves the female half.

For the men, they can always say its their culture. Or blame everything on something the wife did or didnt do.

Christianity Etc › Re: Moses, Exodus And Genetics by tpiah: 10:03pm On May 27, 2009
you're confusing yourself.

First of all, dont just point and pick single verses out of context unless you're just trying to convince yourself you're happy being an atheist or anti-Christian.

If your question is a genuine one, then read the entire chapters you're quoting.

secondly, how did you arrive at 430 years? Was that an actual number mentioned?

thirdly, the term children of Isreal wasnt limited to only the actual blood descendants of Jacob.
Christianity Etc › Re: Was Jonah Swallowed Up By A Whale Or By A Fish by tpiah: 9:56pm On May 27, 2009
Basically the Jews addressed Jehovah the same way the Persians addressed their kings.
distinction: Jews addressed God with this title while Persians addressed their mortal kings this way, right?

Pastor AIO and Horus:

I dont see the link between your discussion on Dagonish or Catholic headgear and the topic? huh Your observations belong in a separate thread of their own maybe? huh

Nothing in the book of Jonah that says anything about his head or a hat. Swallow means you close your mouth after opening it to ingest something. That's pretty descriptive and specific.

If the mouth is left agape, then that's not a swallow.
