EducationRe: 7 Things All Parents Should Know Before Enrolling A Child In Nigerian Schools by traihit: 7:54pm On Oct 09, 2018
The list is quite good. There is one point I think is missing :
Parents should always know that they're the real teachers of their children. Most of the life skills the children learnt are usually from parents. No teacher can fill that role and they should not leave their children in the hands of the teachers thinking that the teachers will fill them with everything they need in life. Parents should create time for their children.

I really applaud this Nathaniel Bassey man. Anyone who want to know about Pastor Chris and his wife should ask himself "why do I want to know about them"? Even Moses had issues with Zipporah. If you observe anomaly in a pastor's life, pray for them. Simple!

DECEPTION!!!

Deception every where
Who's deceiving you sir? Please don't get yourself deceived. Even public sinners of all sort do worship with God. How much more politicians who become sinners because they can't control their selfishness. Should God close His door against them? Did you Bible tell you that church is meant for the righteous alone? How would the unrighteous get back to God if pastors and ministers of God only pay attention to righteous people?

Nairaland GeneralRe: A Female James Bond? by traihit(op): 5:44pm On Oct 06, 2018
Looks like modern day feminists won't have all their desires granted. What is meant for man is meant for man and what's meant for woman is meant for woman. Yet, the genders are equal as souls and not in body.
Nairaland GeneralA Female James Bond? by traihit(op): 5:41pm On Oct 06, 2018
A female James Bond? Never, confirms executive producer
Barbara Broccoli dismisses the possibility of a gender switch for 007, but says a woman may one day direct franchise.

The future has looked shaky for cinema’s biggest hero. The director of his latest adventure quit 14 weeks before shooting. The release date was pushed back. Not so long ago, the actor who plays him said he would rather slash his wrists than reprise the role.

But there is one thing about which James Bond can rest easy: his manhood. Speaking to the Guardian, 007’s executive producer Barbara Broccoli ruled out any Doctor Who-style gender reinvention for Ian Fleming’s super-spy.

Bond is male,” she said. “He’s a male character. He was written as a male and I think he’ll probably stay as a male.

“And that’s fine. We don’t have to turn male characters into women. Let’s just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters.”

Broccoli, 58, is the daughter of Albert “Cubby” Broccoli, heads Eon productions and signs off on every key Bond hire and fire. It was she who tweeted the news Danny Boyle had left the 25th film due to “creative differences”. She who announced Cary Fukunaga was to replace him. And she who lured Daniel Craig back into the tuxedo.

Such leverage makes her perhaps the most powerful female producer the film industry has ever seen. It also makes her fiercely protective of the “family business”. Yes, she concedes, Bond cannot be considered a feminist property, but mostly because people tend to “reference those early movies. It was written in the 50s, so there’s certain things in [Bond’s] DNA that are probably not gonna change.”
“But look at the way the world has changed. And I think Bond has come through and transformed with the times. I’ve tried to do my part, and I think particularly with the Daniel [Craig] films, they’ve become much more current in terms of the way women are viewed”

You're visibly irritated by Taxify's move. Perhaps you can start a movement to ensure the venture fail because Ibadan is a city of many worlds with the elite and the rich hiding in the background of the brown roof you see.

We generalise too much about this Ibadan. Believe me, that city is one of the most underrated in Nigeria yet, almost every politician in the South-West has a house in the same Ibadan not to mention so many industrialists and so on. Taxify must have done some research but I can tell you that Ib has people who are ready and eager to pay more than that amount just from UI to Dugbe alone.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Why Is Life So Unfair? by traihit: 10:10pm On Oct 04, 2018
BMedia:
Do not despair, but continually improve yourself as you put your faith and trust in God.

Let me share my story - So I and a relative finished from the same faculty some years ago, and due to several factors including a ridiculous uni policy and juvenile deliquency, we only managed to finish with a pass degree. Of course I was disheartened but we went ahead to serve the nation (NYSC). Soon after, my cousin's dad who was in government was able to secure a job for him with an international NGO operating in our state, despite the class of degree, while I went to the U.K to attempt a fresh degree. Few years later I graduated with a 2.1 (Honours) and immediately proceeded for my MSc which I completed with a Merit. All these cost me at least N30 million in tuition and living expenses as this was when the Naira fell as low as N600 to 1 pound.

Well I returned to Nigeria with my 3 degrees expecting to be the toast of employers, but I kept passing aptitude tests and attending interviews but was unable to get a job due to the Nigerian factor (though i must admit I was initially rather choosy considering the magnitude of my investment) until a month ago when I landed an FG job (through connection not merit) which pays next to nothing, but I accepted as a stepping stone to greater heights (if you know how the FG works).

Interestingly while I was bettering myself for the labour market, my cousin had already married, gained significant NGO experience, and only a few weeks ago got a mouth watering (actually an understatement) offer to join their mission in the U.S based on his satisfactory performance on the job over the years. With a pass degree.

Now is this fair? Of course not. Do i regret my choices? Not at all because the exposure, knowledge and experience I gained (worked in insurance for a year during my masters in the UK) has equipped me for greatness and my faith and trust in God assures me that i was only being prepared for the greater exploits, according to his divine purpose, especially as I am working towards establishing a private practice, amidst other entrepreneurial aspirations.

I hesitatingly decided to share this story but I hope it encourages you, with the knowledge that your class of degree does not ultimately determine your altitude in life, but your divine purpose, God's timing and your hunger for success and self improvement. Stop using your friend as a ruler to measure yourself, instead pray & trust in God, think outside the "teaching box" (get relevant professional certifications, attend seminars for networking opportunities, explore entrepreneurship) and you should be fine. Good luck.
This post of yours and many others on this thread are rare nowadays on Nairaland. Thanks for sharing this.

It's a lack of intelligence that will keep feminism out of Africa, just as it has kept other progressive movements like science, technology and economic advancement beyond the reach of the typical dimwitted sub-intelligent ape descended Africans.
So to you, Africa is not intelligent. All your ancestors with their environmental friendly technology, arts and crafts that were stolen by the white man, they are unintelligent. Finally, our mind as Africans has been reset indeed. The oyinbos have sent us to the base of entire human development and your education has an individual has given you an eye to see that your race is unintelligent. I don't have anything to argue, I only want to salute your intelligence as an African.

Besides, I'm not saying Sowore's candidate will win, I'm only saying I'd rather cast my vote for him than any of the others.

But I agree that Sowore has a lot of work to do if he hopes to come anywhere close to winning. It seems he thinks Nigerians in the diaspora are going to vote.
It's not my opinion. It's what I see around me and take it or leave, I'm not in support of either APC or PDP yet, I won't shy away from the truth. And like I said earlier, how sure are you that even Sowore's candidate would be better than these guys we have on ground?

Maybe it's because Ibadan is the state capital and the political political. Even though Ibadan alone can't decide who wins, yet Akala underestimated Ibadan and lost in 2011. But Oyo State is too big for just a section (though the largest) to be ruling all the time.

That's if Sowore's candidate can think out of the box more than both Bayo and Seyi. FYI, a common Ibadan or even Oyo State indegene doesn't know who on earth bears the name "Sowore".

APC will not find things easy in OYO based on the many problems Ajimobi caused in his second term, and to think PDP presented SEYI Makinde. shocked Even I will vote Seyi Makinde.
Even Seyi Makinde won't find it easy. In fact, he will find it tougher than Ajimobi's candidate. If I were Seyi Makinde, the other parts of Oyo outside Ibadan would be my focus (Seyi has more support from Ibadan while Bayo Adelabu is from Oke-Ogun). Ibadan alone can't decide who'll govern Oyo state and even Ibadan still has supporters for Ajimobi.

Finally,his grandfather is being rewarded
Meanwhile, I think his grandfather was one of the reason the Action Group had problems in the then Western region. Adegoke Adelabu was working for the NCNC to tarnish and destabilize the government of AG (of course the masses would support anyone they "think" is fighting for them). It was that destabilizations that caused the rift between Awolowo and Akintola. The fight between Awo and Akintola was the first trigger of the 1966 coup. We were not there but history except when it is analyzed would make us think that every *good person" is absolutely good and every "evil person" is absolutely evil.

Baba, this case is different. Bayo Adelabu isn't born with silver spoon. He had a humble beginning. And for your info, Adegoke Adelabu (his grandfather) died before independence. He's just a young brilliant guy who was lucky to attain the pinnacle of his career.
He doesn't look like one and with what I've been seeing about him, he has perhaps forgotten about his beginning. I'm only praying whoever becomes governor get at least a little bit ahead of Ajimobi. Ajimobi really tried but he has a lot of flaws.

People are really overestimating this Ladoja and sincerely Ibadan is the only place he used to have popularity and even that popularity now has gone down the drain. The love people have for Seyi Makinde is because they were growing tired of Ajimobi. It's just like thinking of eating bread (which you've never tasted) because you're tired of cake. It was the same way people were clamoring for Ajimobi in 2007 and 2011 when they were tired of Akala.
Like you said though, two major contenders would be Seyi Makinde and Bayo Adelabu. Seyi is banking on previous trials, Bayo is banking on his grandpa's exploits incumbent power. We can't really predict who'll win but it's going to be tight and interesting. I'm happy a fresh young blood is coming in by the way.
