CareerRe: Discrimination Because Of The Kind Of University Attended. by Trottle:
I've never been discriminated against. Only inferiority complex and the fact that you do not recognize your value will make you accept such. It is only in a backward place like Nigeria that the institution you attended will shape your destiny, but I'm glad that it is changing now.

I attended a State University established less than 15years ago, and I tell you, I've never attended an interview where I didn't ace the job and tower above most candidates especially from First-generation universities. Even in this my current job, I was the only candidate chosen above other candidates. Part of the reasons? Diversity in knowledge. Education has become far more advanced than La-cram La-pour in our ivory towers.

Dedicate some time regularly for studying, open the internet, read about topics, subjects, themes and topical issues beyond your discipline and you'll be amazed at what you know, and only then, you'll not be discriminated at.

Prechy08:
I don't see this a good news.

How can my ex-organisation re-call me then I smell a rat no matter how good the pay is, for me it's very dangerous.

I remembered when I was resigning from my old place 9 days to my last day. I was called and told, we will add something to your salary. My response was simple "I appreciate that Sir, but I have gone beyond that now.

OP my advise to your scanty post is simple. If your former place is a financial institution or you worked in accounts or any sensitive position, better remain where u are, it's too suspicious.
Op, ensure you listen and internalize the above. Prechy08 is speaking from hard gained experience. Often times, it does not bode well to return to your former place of work, especially if you part ways in a less than ideal way. Some company can be vindictive and hate the fact that you are better off without them.

So, a higher salary, allowance(s), higher position might all be a Trojan Horse which could be nasty for your career.

My advice, stay put in your current place of work, and if you really want to move, look for another place of work than has better working conditions than your former and current company.

Me a scammer? Who have I ever scammed here or you are just getting to know what scamming is as a word?

You called me once and you only asked for the price, then you cut the call and proceeded to label me a scammer? Very immature of you.

I don't blame you, internet really do provide anonymity for both the senseless and the sensible.

HealthRe: Getting Over Addictions.. by Trottle:
Our modern life is definitely the most decadent in history. Even the Romans would watch in admiration, the level of insanity and debauchery prevalent today cry

Addictions have gone beyond drugs. Pornography (and masturbation), online sports betting, indiscriminate sex, aimless social media use, compulsive eating etc. produce similar negative effect, and can even prove more damaging than drugs (in some cases) especially the first four.

It is a miracle if you aren't addicted to any of those vices. Keep thanking God for that!

Bulk of the 'normal' people you see today are not really normal, nearly everyone suffers from one (or more) type of addiction. The difference is that while some addiction is obvious, some are latent. So no one should mock anybody due to the fact the others might have an addiction that's apparent. That's right, a porn user and 'masturbator' has no business mocking a gambler. Fight your own demons too. lipsrsealed

To solve almost any addiction, you need to follow the same pattern: avoid the source, avoid the triggers, go through the withdrawal phase, start recovery. SPOILER ALERT! Recovery, depending on your level of addiction can be a very painful process which might necessitate you seeking the help of others if needed. But if I were you, I'll choose the pain of discipline over that of regret.

I wonder why parents are still forcing their children to read only medicine and law only. Encourage them to read Psychology, migrate and/or start their private practice focusing on some of those addictions.

I wish you all quick recovery.

InvestmentRe: Can The Board Of Directors Fire The Owner Of A Company? by Trottle:
The board can fire the owner of a company if he's naive to corporate world politics and the dog-eat-dog system inherent.

To avoid being fired, you can adopt two systems. Either you have the majority shares or create a 2-tiered shares system. E. G Create Class A shares with 1 single vote power and Class B with 5x the voting power of Class A shares. Then allot more of Class B shares to yourself and Class A shares to shareholders.

That way, you might not have the largest shares, but you have the highest voting power. Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook), Larry Page and Sergey Brin (Google) comes to mind.

None of them especially Zuckerberg can be fired easily, almost impossible. Facebook will rather be burnt to the ground than for him to leave.

My humble opinion.

BusinessRe: How Can I Become A Distributor Of Big Brands In Nigeria? by Trottle:
Hi SooCute and others,

Becoming a Distributor for an FMCG company is a great, stable way to invest and get steady income especially in Nigeria. Unlike other volatile industries/sectors, you are assured of steady cash-flow and stability that is increasingly becoming absent in other industries/sectors.

I work for an FMCG company that own well established brands and various products in Nigeria and West Africa, so I talk based on what's obtainable in the industry.

I'll be using our perspective and the Nigerian (West African) context to answer your question, and I'm sure it is most likely the same for other FMCG organizations too. Now to your question. To become a distributor for an FMCG, four major criteria will be considered:

1. Financial Capacity: Do you have the required fiscal resources to stock your warehouse with enough product to serve the market without experiencing major and consistent stock-outs? And as your business grows, you should have the prospect of expanding it and investing an agreed amount of money within an agreed period of time.

2. Logistics: Pertaining to logistics, you need to or be willing to procure a warehouse with an agreed capacity, you need to or be willing to get an office space for the company's manager & Staff.

In addition, you'll need to have a 4-6 staff strength (usually a Van Sales Rep, Market Sales Rep, Account Officer, Operational Manager and Store Keeper) to run the business smoothly. Note: The company will assign a Key Account Executive who will be seeing to the management and day-to-day administration of all your assets (human & material. The 4-6 staff will be managed by the KAE, BUT recruited by you.

Lastly for logistics, you'll need at least 1 bus for delivery and penetrating interior parts of the territory. This is where the VSR comes in.

3. Capability: This means that you need to have basic knowledge of the FMCG industry. It is recommended that you are ambitious. Once the money starts rolling in many distributors become laid back and rest their oars.

4. Business Ethics: Lastly, business ethics. Including the usual and necessary business ethics, you need to also align with the company's value. Also, you should not be one that hoards vital info that could help your business and by extension the company to grow. Some of the info could be; market, sales, credit etc).

Like other businesses, FMCG has pros and cons.
Some of the pros are;
1. You get discounts and rebates
2. Strong presence in the territory and beyond. Which translates to increased revenue.
3. Exclusive rights to sell the brand in the territory
4. Opportunity to control more brands and get juicier offers.
5. Greater buying power.

The major cons I can think of being a distributor may probably be that ;
1. Initial capital outlay could be fairly high.
2. Controlling too many brands in a territory can make you lose (some Distributors control tens and hundreds of brands) focus and pay less attention to growth and brand performance.

Some of the most honest, trustworthy, faithful Nigerians you'll ever meet are those that do menial jobs. They believe in making a honest living regardless of how little it is.
Unlike the greedy and wicked ones who will rather kill and take the little you have and add to their own. They are educated yet lack conscience and the instinct for common good.

Good job bro.

TravelRe: Top 10 Cleanest Cities In Africa 2019 by Trottle:
As of today, except for limited areas in some Nigerian cities, hardly will any city make even first 20, as Nigerian cities lack streetscaping.

No provision for tree planting and green space, buildings everywhere, even encroaching public spaces no wonder the whole country is getting hotter every year.

Even a low-cost area looks good with proper tree planting and green space. One of the factors that'll also ensure we do not get listed is bad waste management practise which is evident, as most state lack simple street dustbins and recycling incentives/factories. Pity.
PoliticsRe: Governor El-rufai Pledges To Sponsor Education Of Almajiri Boy Who Doesn't Beg by Trottle:
Oga El-Rufai, this is not how to go about the Al-Majiri System. Historically, the (precolonial) Al-Majiri system was funded tripartitely —Government, Parent and Tax. The Al-Majiris then had ALL the basic necessities of life and other essentials that support learning, with constant monitoring (through education inspectors) by the Emirate... Enough with the story. El-Rufai knows how to tackle the System, only if sincerity is applied.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Country Of Backward North, Developing South – El-rufai by Trottle:
Divide and Rule. Continue! Blind bigots will rather ignore the root cause of the problem which is LEADERSHIP, rather spreading hate everywhere.

How people with overwhelming ignorance invaded the thread to air their hatred about the religion of Islam, without even gleaning through the country's recent history to understand the genesis of our problem.

The Almajiri system before the coming of the British ensured all children were adequately educated, fed, sheltered and in close proximity with their parents. There were education inspectors who reported the activities of the school to the Emirs. The system was jointly sponsored by the Emirs, the state (tax) and parents. The society was orderly. Then come the British with their gun and manical hatred distabilized the system, killed the Emirs and abolished the funding and sabotage the entire system. The same British since the nation's "independence" continuously Balkanize the country.

The present Almajiri system operated justifiably should be abolished and entirely remodelled as it is clearly outlived it's usefulness and against all what Islam preached against: half-baked educstion, Begging, exploitation etc. The only people benefitting from the malaise today are the so-called elites who want to win votes.

Yet people will rather sit in the comfort of their house and type the trash they want. It is strange that some people still feel somehow Superior because of some perceived education— education that has not transformed into meaningful development for the country.

The country has one of the worst HDIs in the world, some of the most polluted cities without decent infrastructures to support good living. The "educateds" will rather live in affluent places with no good road, highly prone to flood for the purpose of claiming "levels" Yet the half baked literates and blind bigots whom only take pride in their ability to speak "Behind" English as their mark of literacy will rather comfort themselves on a perceived sense of superiority. Educated indeed!

The Northern leaders are definately as wicked and heartless as their southern counterpart. The whole country is a garbage dump. Poor leadership,
Baby Factories, Kidnapping, Ritual killings, Jingle Justice, Nepotism, Rape, Child exploitation is rife in various part of the country.

Nigeria is hell for everyone and will still continue to frustrate everybody until we sit up and address the root causes, until then. Enjoy the ride!

AgricultureRe: Imports, Low Prices Hurt Maize Farmers by Trottle: 1:10pm On Jul 05, 2019
It is not enough that Nigeria ban food importation without improving the efficiency of local production and it is also not acceptable that local products are much higher than foreign products. This will almost always be the end result.

The rice experiment failed being that the government banned rice, and allowed the farmers to set the price of the local rice at whatever ridiculous rate they all this they did without massively scaling up production and providing outlets for processing of excesses. The consequence of that too was heavy smuggling of foreign rice from nearly all borders of the country.

If the equation is not properly balanced, where efficiency is encouraged, more incentives are given to the farmers and previous incentives are worked on,and importantly consumers get to buy it at cost-effecctive prices then importation/smuggling of agro products will continue unabated.

Well, as usual, threads like this hardly reaches 3 pages.
