You might stand a chance if you marry your brother I'm just being naughty ocpaschal: Good Morning room... Pls I want to clarify an issue. Is it possible for a brother to be a dependent or apply as a dependent. Secondly, my brother will travel to UK on a study visa this year. He is in his early 20s in age. Can he invite or bring his senior brother to the UK to be living with him as a dependant? Thirdly, on what visa would a brother apply for if he is to join his other younger brother in the UK? Also, Is it true that I can live with my younger brother in UK while he is studying? |

And you decided to dig through his past posts for things you know nothing about .. . The kind of things you see on Nairaland sha . OP sought advice of his chances of switching to another visa regardless of what happens just like most ppl have done on this platform including you RalphJean: A wife gets a job and moves to the UK First. She hustles and hustles and because she loves her family, she ensured they all join her. Husband (and 2 children) arrive in October 2020. By August 2021 (less than 9 months), they have a misunderstanding. The man comes on a public platform to air his grievances.
Without knowing the FULL story of the circumstances. Without hearing the wife's side. Without details of what dispute resolution steps the couple have taken Without any first hand experience of what a broken marriage means for a couple (especially the man who could very soon be rendered an overstayer).
Some folks be coming here and advising husband to 'Move on' as though it's easy for a 40+ man with two children to just pack bags and 'Move on'.
The kind of things yo see on Nairaland sha.... |

Try and try till visa runs out A sensible person, just like Op is doing, will look at ALL available options KOVIC19COVID20: Be careful with all these people telling you to leave the house and stay alone . Be careful with those people telling you to care about your mental health bla bla bla…
Find a way of appealing to your wife’s conscience. Try & make your marriage to rebound.
All these people telling you about immigration and lawyers etc, I can assure you, they will not give you 1 £ or even 1 pence to hire a lawyer.
Try all you can, to make thinks work with your wife. |

This does not even make any utter sense at all. Most remittance services, before the cbn rule, always used closed to the black market rate. Why will anyone in its right senses use transferwise with official rate send money home when there are options giving more. I bet you are just making this up so we look bad! If you are however talking about sending from Naira to pounds using transferwise, to my knowledge (correct me if wrong) this does not exist whatsoever jflex: Its actually disgusting when the so called guys sell pounds to friends and family at Black Market rate and accept official rate when they want to use transferwise to send money home.

You were denied simply because they didn't want you. Based on my experience, companies can go through the length of hiring anyone they feel is most suited for a role despite RLMT. How can you even tell you were more than qualified than the other candidates when you never saw their resume? RalphJean: This statement is CATEGORICALLY untrue. There is ABSOLUTELY no evidence to back it up.
The Only 'evidence' is that it was happening by virtue of the UK being a member of the EU. I can prove that I had previously been denied a job (which I was more than qualified for) because I hold a Nigerian Passport. What no one can prove is that EU citizens will ALWAYS get preferential treatment post-Brexit. |

Prepared all my evidence say las las go reach court as I no wan make this money go! I sent the company and agency an initial email without the end client. This prompted meetings lol and has now been resolved. Thanks for everyone who responded . Make I go spend am for somewhere sunny TrumpsWall: @all .. . I need professional advice o
Has anyone used small claims or Ombudsman to get money owed?
In a nutshell, I worked with this IT company thru an agency and them dey owe me 2 days + a week notice. It's been 2 months now! So far I don send 8 emails chasing up and down LOL but no one cares to reply.
A friend suggested ccing the end client as last email and see wetin go happen then take legal action if no positive response. Can there be any legal consequences in doing this?
Cheers |

I will look at that option. Small claims has more teeth than Ombud so I dey think the former. It's actually a well known agency with offices around the world. It's the bloody useless IT firm that I worked for is 'small'. If I decide to take legal action, will it be the firm or the agency? Aphrodite007: There are some no win, no fee lawyers, they should be able to take this up. The ombudsman won’t be too strong on a small agency that has nothing to lose (the agency can just close business and open with another name). Ombudsman is only good when you’re attacking a huge company.
So for this, use lawyers |

Okay no worries .. I will give it a shot wallg123: Not at all. This has nothing to do with data breach. Look it like this, if they had payed you or overpaid for a job that you completed, they will be copying you, HR, your bank and the police. Unless you intend going back to the agency to seek work, I don’t see why you should not be paid for work you’ve done. |

No skeletons All documentation with agency, company and end client all gathered. Last email, I copied agency and company. if i include end client, does that breach anything, say GDPR/Data protection (do you know?)? wallg123: If you’ve done the work and have no skeletons in your cupboard, copy everyone of them. They have to pay you. ... Also start documenting all your communication with the agency.... cuz las las you’ll need to prove you did the hours and that you’ve been demanding your pay.... |

End client mos def would have paid them and I am stuck with none! LagosismyHome: Time sheet rejection is going to lead to non payment .... because without that approval nobody gets any money. So cant blame the agency for non payment. They too probably didnt get any money .
I dont fully understand your setup with agency, client IT company but no approved timesheet means no money |

I get that. Someone has to be help accountable. Question is who esp since I came through an agency if I need to go thru small claims or Ombudsmen IT company approves (they've approved before but on this case they didn't). I get assigned to end client to do a job and they don't approve anything as they just want job done. Again, will it make sense to CC end client? LagosismyHome: Time sheet rejection is going to lead to non payment .... because without that approval nobody gets any money. So cant blame the agency for non payment. When I say end client, I meant the IT company assigned me to their customer. End client don't approve timesheet but the IT company does which they've failed to. This might sound freaking weird but the IT company said I submitted 'Timesheet incorrectly' hence letting me go. I have tried to resolve amicably but no response from both parties. I don't intend using them as reference LOL LagosismyHome: Do you know if your time sheet was approved by the end client.... it hard to advice as to depends on what circumstances did you guys part ways
If I were you, I would try to resolve amicable without end client just incase you need both parties for referencing later |

Nice summary! So in essence, Hosey is right since this forum is strictly admission and guide to processing of UK Visa. To me, it's not just a waste of money but a bloody waste of time but wetin I know Skymoore1004: Okay people of God, let’s wrap it up please.
Both Laajiblik and Hosey were right in their own perspectives. IELTS is not a waste of money if you can afford it, as you can use it for other purposes aside U.K. visa. It aids it securing scholarships in both the U.K. and other countries. It also aids in certain job applications too (if you’re applying to big international organisations where adequate English proficiency is a requirement).
However if you’re only interested in securing an admission and processing your U.K. visa, then you should rather use an alternative which can be WAEC or NECO or Letter of Studies in English. From Hosey’s point of view, it will be a waste of almost 100k if you can get going with the substitutes but still decide to write it for the same exact purpose.
It’s okay, we’ve all gotten your various points. A whole page has been derailed with this topic but let’s move on.
Happy Sunday people |
