it is a strong prove the AI may take over everything just 20 years from now.

as it is now, it writes much much more clearer codes to some extent.

give it a few years from now and AI will be able to code more efficient and highly versatile system - you and i knws what that will mean to humanity,

I have been learning and practicing my web development skills and especially was learning react and framer motion before my Acer aspire 5 core i3 8th generation got stolen.
The issue is I am contemplating buying a HP PROBOOK 445 G8 open box with the following specs
16GB RAM
512GB SSD
AMD RYZEN 7 5800U WITH AMD Radeon™ renoir dedicated graphics.Price is 390k.
Will this be a wise or an unwise financial decision considering that I haven't made money from web development yet?
Please your suggestions for any other device(s) are welcome.
Thanks.
Since you have the funds and you are into web development, buy a 2015 Macbook Pro 15 inches, core i7, 16gb ram. You can get a clean one for 300k

With a MacBook Pro, you can decide to sell back to upgrade at a good price anytime you want.

For every other laptop brand, you will lose value when you want to sell to upgrade.

When you want to move to mobile apps’ development, you would need the apple eco system anyways.

Become an expert in a track (UI/UX for example) and instead of practicing as a designer, you teach others and earn from teaching.

Since you have income, i would suggest you spend the next few weeks surfing through, watching YouTube videos on different courses to catch a feel.

how did you do the maths,I know you are correct but how did you get 200000
6% is 0.06
Let googleStaff = x
0.06x = 12,000
x = 12,000 / 0.06
x = 200,000

Google staff strength is 200,000 as computed from the article.

There are two types of learning.

The ‘How’ and the ‘Why’.

Many people want to learn how things are done. It is a short term form of learning and works only in an exam environment.

You should learn Why something is being done. When you know the why, your brain automatically starts to understand the logic.

Lecturers who know why dont need notes. Ordinary typographical errors can scatter the life of a how learner.

Windows update happens usually on patch Tuesdays which is the second Tuesday of every month. Next update is on Feb 14

Your problem is not windows if it goes beyond that.

Except you are buying those 50mb daily plan, a 500 naira 2.5gb data should solve your update problems.

My comments on this thread is not to the OP who already has his opinions but to the innocent reader who might take his absurd downgrade recommendations as being factual.

I am currently considering a career transition into the tech industry, but I'm not sure which specific area to focus on.

Definitely a no-coding area. Also mathematics, and calculations are totally not my thing.

I'm considering business analysis or salesforce as I believe that these areas align with my interests and strengths.

Do you think any of these two is a good field to go into in 2023? If not, what other areas can I look into considering my preference.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from those who have experience in these areas or have made similar transition themselves.
Below are some fields you can review in your quest, in addition to the ones you listed.
UI/UX
Trainings
Technical marketing & sales
Consulting
Project management
Hardware support
Networking

As regards career change, are you ready for at least 2 years of no income? Just a small reminder.

Most people dive into tech while they still have access to some funds or income or they have a small cost outlay or there is free food at home.

Well lets see sha. If Apple does so the Faang hype might die down as those were seen as the most secured jobs in the industry. The truth is those Americans or others from well-developed nations no get issue na third worlders wey dey on H1B go suffer. Its impossible to find a new job in 60 days time.
Lets do some math

12,000 workers is 6% of Google’s staff strength.

Which means Google staff strength is 200,000 employees.

At an average salary of $72,000 means the payroll is $14.4 billion per annum

By sacking 12,000 in January, they have saved $1 billion in payroll costs

The almighty Google o. Hmmmm and companies that people looked down on are even giving bonuses. Mercedes Benz just paid all their devs 7000 euros bonus. Apple isn't laying off and didn't lay off in 2001 and she's seen as the least prestigious amongst the faang.

It seems the faang hype might die down after all these layoffs. I really pity those from third world countries who are on H1Bs. It's 60 days to find a new job or go back home. For Nigerians that can mean a possibility of coming back to emilokan God forbid sha.
Apple will lay off. They dont have a choice.

Sales has been lower than expected and the company is investing heavily in its R & D at the moment especially the commitments to the new silicon chip, which thankfully, is paying off, though slowly.

Then there is the China wahala of chips war and assembly line crises.

The world economy is leaner. Products have to become cheaper. The Apple mini which recently launched is being offered at a starting price of $599. This is lower by $100 when compared to the previous generation.

Apple doesn’t reduce price except something is going on.

Yea
cartItem.amount was undefined because it was not existing at initial state.

It was not existent because cartItems didn’t have an amount parameter in the objects.

You also called {amount} instead of {product.amount}. This was rightly pointed out by GIM above.

Defining amount in your objects would remove the need for ||0
ProgrammingRe: Microsoft To Cut 11,000 Jobs In Mass Layoff by truthCoder: 6:25am On Jan 19, 2023
This is all as a result of AI and better computing plus covid.

Microsoft is in discussions with openAI in a $10 billion usd deal so it is not because Microsoft is broke.

Microsoft is positioning itself for the future.

Computing has improved in the last two decades to the extent that very small teams can compete favorably against big corporations on product level.

Why should a company have 20,000 staff when most of them are simply doing created work. By created work, i mean work that should not exist but was formed in order to manage the very large staff population.

Finally, covid showed these companies that they can run without the need for big offices and large staffing. The workers have also been shooting themselves in the foot by clamoring for more remote work. With remote working, the companies have been able to separate jobs into extremely essential, relatively essential and purely cosmetic.

For the relatively essential and purely cosmetic, the staff can be let go and and roles outsourced.

Outsourcing is cheaper in the long run as it reduces labor bottlenecks and turns staff costs just into an accounting entry.

Expect more layoffs as the industry changes.

The plus side is that many sacked people would set up their own competitive businesses which would also possibly provide more jobs in the long term. The downside is that for those looking for a job at the moment, competition has just increased.
