Politics › Re: Message For Wike: American, Susan Mount, Calls Out Governor Over Oyigbo Killings by TruthinAction: 12:00pm On Nov 01, 2020
It is not Governor Wike's fault. Don't the Igbo community love themselves? Why are the Governors from the east not saying anything? Don't they have lawyers that can get a court injunction? Can't some Igbo elders pay a visit to the Governor and tell him to stop killing and dehumanizing defenseless Igbos in Oyigbo?

If soldiers died, must the innocent suffer for the crime of a few? What about little children? So many questions begging for answers.

In addition, why don't they permit news media to monitor what the armies are doing there. What they claim they are doing is contrary to the report we are receiving from the residents.

Governor Wike should please visit Oyigbo himself and confirm what is happening or send delegates. The people have been on lock down for days now. How do they feed?

I weep for Nigeria.

That's the journalist version of the story.

Let's hear from the soldiers
There is nothing to hear from the soldiers that lied broad day lie on the shooting that happened in Lekki Tollgate. Besides, this has been their nature. I wish we were still under the British. An average black man is wicked. We derive pleasure in killing our own.

Now, there is mutual fear. This should lead to mutual respect. Police IG should apologize to Nigerians for the way they have mistreated us all through the years rather than asking them to defend themselves. Then promise that it will not repeat itself. The first sign of true change is that they should stop extortion motorists. The second sign is that bail should be truly free. The third sign is to stop demanding for mobilization money before they address an issue. Then Nigerians will be friends with police.

It's been over a week since the nigerian army laid siege to oyigbo town. The harassment and recorded cases of killings are numerous to count. They have been going to people's homes and killing indiscriminately, burning people's houses while blocking exits. With the 24hrs curfew, all roads going In and out of oyigbo has bn blocked and residents encircled. Some they kill at close range and so many have died in their homes from stray bullets. We have helicopters flying over our roofs in a way it can mean a declaration of genocide on oyigbo residents. The federal government and Rivers State Government have declared war on the people of oyigbo and the press are not doing much or should I say turning a blind eye. I am writing this post to draw the attention of nigerians and the world on the ongoing genocide on the residents of Oyigbo in Rivers State by the nigerian army.
We don't have journalist in Nigeria who can get a first hand information of events like this. They rely on a third party information. They no wan die.

This is really serious. The Governor should please withdraw them and constitute a committee to know the way forward. The root cause is the brutality of police on people. Ironically, the police have not learnt. They are still declaring war. Let's give peace a chance. After all, the violence was not only in Oyigbo.
Politics › Governor Wike Should Please Withdraw Soldiers From Oyigbo by TruthinAction(op): 4:06pm On Oct 30, 2020
The recent deployment of soldiers to Oyigbo is bringing untold hardship and a lot people have been dehumanized by Soldiers.

First, soldiers are not detectives that are trained to fish out criminals.

Second, not everyone residing in Oyigbo are IPOB members. Even the IPOB members may not be up to 5% of the population there.

So, while will the entire community suffer for the sins of very few people. I believe those who committed the crimes should have find their way out of the community.

Governor Wike should please withdraw Soldiers from Oyigbo and find other ways of fishing out the criminals.

The rights of so many innocent people living there are being violated. He should have a human heart and do the needful to bring back life to normalcy in Oyigbo.

All that the soldiers understand is kill. The Lekki Tollgate massacre is enough lesson for us to learn. Wike should not include himself on the list of leaders that killed his people.

Politics › Re: Masked Oyigbo Girl: Wike Has Turned His Back On Us, We Are Dying Daily by TruthinAction: 3:04pm On Oct 30, 2020
Even if IPOB did commit the criminal acts, those involved are just a few percentage of its members. IPOB historically are not terrorist though there are few criminal elements among them.

This doesn't warrant the soldiers to start shooting indiscriminately and breaking into homes. They are fighting unarmed civilians as though they are in a war with another country. Over 95% of those living in Oyigbo certainly have nothing to do with the crimes a few people committed.

If we don't condemn this act of soldiers, then we shouldn't condemn what happened at Lekki Tollgate.

They should go after the real terrorist killing both soldiers and civilians on a daily basis. Nigeria is the only country where security personnel kill her citizens without remorse and we don't condemn it.

Civilians matters are not supposed to be handled by soldiers. All that the soldiers know is kill.

They are trying to appease the youths. Fix the country. Deal with the real issues.

1. End Boko Haram. If you can't, seek help.
2. End herdsmen killing. It is a deliberate genocide against the Christian communities.
3. Open borders. The border closure hasn't solved any problems. Rather it has brought inflation and Nigerians are choking.
4. End fuel importation. Make our refineries work.
5. Establish new industries and make Nigeria a producing country. We import virtually everything even toothpick.
6. Prosecute corrupt politicians and government workers that are corrupt irrespective of party.
7. We need light 247.
8. Fix our roads. All our federal roads are bad.
9. Stop attacking unarmed protesters.
10. Restructure the country.
11. We need new constitution.
12. We need true federalism.
13. Invest in agriculture. It should not be left in the hands of peasant farmers.
14. Build border fence. Our borders are too porous.
15. Stop the nepotism in appointment.
16. Pass the new electoral bill. Next election must be electronic.
17. Reduce the allowances of legislators.
18. Reduce the transport allowance of President and vice president. The budget for transport allowance for Mr President this year is 2.5 billion naira.
19. Stop the intellectual decay in our educational institutions. Most students no longer read as they rely on sorting.
20. Reform the police.
21. Sack the present service Chiefs.
22. Complete the probe on NDDC.
23. Audit NNPC and make the result public.
24. Empower all graduates after NYSC.
25. Stop anti people bills like the bills to regulate social media.
26. Release all those arrested for stealing palliatives. Rather, prosecute those who hoarded them.
27. Compensate families killed during the #endsarsprotest.
28. Prosecute those who killed the #endsarsprotesters.
29. Fish out the commanders or those sponsoring herdsmen and Boko Haram.
30. The President should apologize to Nigerians for not addressing the Lekki Tollgate shooting.

Our leaders should be reminded the true meaning of democracy. It is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. They should therefore always do what the people want and not what they want to do.

You can please add to the list.

Yes, just like the police are bad, army wicked, looters and arsonists of buses, shops and banks during protests are upstanding citizens.

Don't worry, we'll find government from Mars to help us the good citizens.
Good governance flows from the top. Just the right person at the top will bring the desired change. If Jerry Rawlings could change Ghana with uncommon decisions, Nigeria can change.

These old politicians should go. In fact they should all not just go, they should all be jailed otherwise, they will influence the new leaders and act like Godfathers. There must be a total disconnect between the old politicians and the new breed which we must discover and work on.
Politics › The Solution To Our Power Distribution Issue by TruthinAction(op): 9:26am On Oct 28, 2020
Nigeria has been battling with power supply for years now. I believe the only way out of this is to take away power supply from exclusive list. The federal government is biting more than it can chew. They should allow state to generate and distribute power. So many things have to be removed from exclusive list. This is the only way forward. Our next protest should include this demands. Security and power should live the exclusive list.

Benblaq:
I don't know if it's everywhere, or just this River State that the price of groceries is this high. How's it in your place?
You are funny and too narrow minded. Nigerians are generally too slow to react to price increase. I thought it should have been our major focus during the protest. One of our demand should have been #openourborders.

The cost of most stable food items have increased astronomically.

1. Sachet of tomatoes paste now cost between 100 - 120 naira in Rivers State.
2. A foreign bag of rice is about 40,000 naira as against 9,000 when Buhari starred ruling.

I could go on and on. It's not just about onions. Onions price fluctuates and it will certainly drop depending on how the supply comes.

But the price of rice hardly drop.

The border closure is the cause. In any case, the rice still find their ways in illegally. They have to bribe security personnel and some go through routes where they spend more. And the local rice price is determined by the price of foreign rice.

If the borders are opened, the price of rice will crash.

The high price of rice also make those selling Garri to increase their price. So, the border closure only succeeds in bringing inflation and affliction to poor Nigerians.

Government should open the borders and local rice producers just have to find ways to make their products much cheaper and availability in commercial quantity.

If foreign rice sells for 20k and local rice for 12k per bag, so many might go for the local rice but if the price is close like say, 17k, many will prefer foreign rice.

Oil rich but overpopulated Nigeria.

200 million people and 2 million barrels of oil daily.

Is that wealth?
That is the figure they gave us. The money Allison Madueke alone looted proves that there is money but most of the resources goes into private pockets.

There was a country. Foreign countries gave palliatives to all but oil rich Nigeria couldn't plan for even 10 % of her population. The 2 million target was even too small compared with the Nigeria population.

Our Commonwealth has been squandered by our politicians. And most of the revenues generated goes into private pocket.

I don't think we will survive with this government still in place till 2023. We need a miracle.

I concur with the ranking. It is difficult to break Pele record. World cup is the peak of soccer. His world cup win would have been up to 4 if not for injury that sent him out in 1966. He is skillful and very fast with the ball.
