PoliteActivist: Sir/Madam, you can be a believer without being a total fool. There are two different stories of creation in the bible. One is plausible, the other is not. Both cannot be true. That is a FACT. And no amount of discernment can change that FACT! Straw man. I asked a question and you left that to attend to something else. The point is, if you don't believe Christ, you CANNOT understand the bible. Adios. |

PoliteActivist: You obviously haven't read the Adam/Eve story. God created Adam with a penis to be all by himself. Then he realized He made a mistake! That He should have created woman! Then the same God that created the entire universe by just His words now became a sculptor. He could not create Eve by just his words! My friend discern the difference between human myth and God's logic Sir/Madam, are you a believer? Just need to know first. God did not make a mistake. God does not make mistakes. As I said earlier, the revelation of God is progressive in the old testament. The old testament is a shadow of the reality. For example, God does not do evil. He has never and will never, but you see evil done attributed to God in the old testament. Christ is the interpretation of the scriptures. You cannot fully understand unless you first know Christ and see Him through the scriptures. And there are no myths in the Bible. There are however metaphors in certain places. |

PoliteActivist: My friend go back and read again: there are two DIFFERENT creation stories in the bible. One says man and woman were created at same time (which is the only thing that makes sense). It says right there that He called them "man". Can u read?? So when it talks of man it means both man and woman!
GENESIS ONE: 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
GENESIS 5: When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God.(C) 2 He created them(D) male and female(E) and blessed them. And he named them “Mankind”[a] when they were created. I appreciate your attempt to explain that God had both male and female in mind from the beginning. God cannot be caught by surprise, since he knows all things. However, the knowledge of God in the Bible was progressive, hence why we see people in the old testament wrongly attribute certain things to God. However, in Christ we have God's perfect revelation. The New Testament explains and clarifies the old. Yes, God created male and female and that was His intention at the beginning as evident in Genesis. So we are fine with that. However Apostle Paul let's us know that: 1Co 11:8-9 KJV 8 For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. 9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. I don't think there is an argument here. Companionship is necessary for both; man wasn't intended to be alone and the woman was created for man. Both need companionship. |

Its rare but possible that two people of opposite sexes can be very close friends without romantic/sexual desire. It would usually require that both parties are not attracted to each other, for whatever reason.
In this case, we assume that because the lady looks attractive the guy is simping. However, the guy might have other far more attractive ladies available to him and she may even be the one trying to hang out with him.
But generally speaking, many male "besties" are zonal chairmen. |

Just look at this refinery stuff, left to me,na Nigeria dey pay the entire money for that Refinery Dangote is highly favored na,on a National level,MTN for where,no na.. Next time compare Dangote and Tinubu or another magnanimous economic Influencer, walahi na the real Influencers be this You are missing the point. The point is that the Government is not really handicapped, they chose to be. I'll just leave it at that. |

BluDesk: So this is pure enterprise to you. Smh Lol don't shake your head too much. The business runs to make a profit, and you and I know that we usually cannot rely on businesses to do what would adversely affect their bottom line, even when if it is for the greater good (which is debatable). My point is the government is the main culprit here, cos if it's not Dangote, someone else can just as easily be in that position. |

. But is this ever as open as this for new entrants where you have the oligarchs like Dangote? Probably not. But facing Dangote is like cutting branches to kill a tree.. And don't forget, lobbyists exist everywhere (at least virtually everywhere). The buck really stops with the government. |

Take it or leave it,Dangote is a huge part of the Government and as long as we won't see that as a problem, we will keep suffering. Then shouldn't this agitation be directed at the government. If it was not Dangote, it would likely be someone else. That's just how it is. |

Aconomist: Sigh, you have to understand something called the demand curve. When prices are kept artificially high, demand will be at an artificially low level. This is why you need heavy competition in the industry. Cement is supposed to be a low margin industry where you sell massive volume to make a profit, not an industry where you produce below capacity and jack up prices. Lol @ demand curve. I understand you, but that's one postulation as to why demand is low. As you would know, there are probably other factors responsible as well. Not saying price isn't. This fight should probably be with the Government. They make the policies. And I'm sure they have their reasons - however sincere, dishonest, thoughtful or unreasonable those policies might be. |
Business › Re: Dangote Is Selling Cement For 1,150 Naira In Zambia by TSBO: 10:26pm On Apr 06, 2021 |
Aconomist: EBITDA is the best way to get an apples to apples comparison between different companies. Dangote is not the only manufacturing company that invests in capital and property plant and equipment, so that doesn't justify the outrageous margin (which is around double the EBITDA margin of a Ferrari ). U.S. cement companies earn an average EBITDA margin of around 10%-12% compared to Dangote's 59%
link: https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/USCR/u-s-concrete/ebitda-margin
Dangote is price gouging the market, this is an indisputable fact. He influenced the government (through bribery) to create scarcity by banning imports and allowing him to hoard limestone resources to prevent other companies from entering the market. According to Rabiu of BUA Group, the only way to fix it is to liberalize the industry. He state's quote:
"The price of cement, which presently sells for about N4,000 per bag, remains high in Nigeria because the few producers are not able to meet the country’s huge demand. Nigeria’s 200 million people make it about 130 kilograms per head. If you check, you will see that most countries in Africa are doing between 170 kilogrammes to 200 kilogrammes per head.
So, Nigeria is actually producing less than other countries in Africa, apart from maybe Niger Republic. So, that means that we do not have enough capacity
“Even though this cement policy is a good one, it must be done in such a way that a lot of players must come in and participate. There is no point in making a policy that only one, two, or three people are able to benefit from that policy,” he said, adding: “That does not make sense. I am benefiting from this policy, but I know it is a bad policy. So, whilst the policy is good, the way it is being administered is not good. You can’t have a policy that restricts so many people from participating, at the end of the day, you are just creating a monopoly
Read the full article for more information: https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2021/02/09/bua-advocates-liberalisation-of-cement-policy-to-crash-price/ Cement capacity utilisation in Nigeria is not high. I do not think it is accurate to say cement producers cannot meet demand. If I am correct, demand has not been growing rapidly in the past few years, and supply has been tracking demand closely. Even if a lot of demand is truly unmet (which I do not think is true), why aren't cement producers ramping up production/utilisation? I am neither agreeing nor disagreeing to your position on Dangote. This is Nigeria and I must say that Government is a major major risk factor for any business operating here. While other cement producers may be complaining when policies do not favour them, I definitely think they like the wider margins they earn in this market. On imports, there is the need to assess whether imports would be net positive for the economy or not. Banning imports of course is a form of support for domestic companies, therefore, we cannot just say imports should be allowed without a clear indication of its net impact. The bottom line is that the Nigerian cement manufacturing industry is one where strong government support is central. Even if there was no Dangote, as long as the policies are there, and there are willing investors, I am not sure things would be much different. Lastly, compare the margins of the different producers. Could they really have survived if Dangote had kept EBITDA margins much lower? Lafarge is just coming out of financial rut and all those small companies BUA consolidated would probably have died before he thought to acquire them. Again, I am neither for or against here, just a discussion. |

This is Nigeria, if those guys are much more connected and/or wealthy, they may end up walking free.. Always avoid violence as much as you can, in fact, I would say except your life is threatened. Romance › Re: Ladies Actually Eat Their Cake And Have It by TSBO: 11:55pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
Sixfeetbelle: The problem here is that men want all ladies to be free and open with them, and that means, being ready and eager to have sex at the snap of their fingers. That's why some of you go the extra mile to use money to facilitate that process and thus can't seem to stand it when she's not a participant. But you all seem to forget one thing.... Being open/friendly is not equivalent to being cheap. I have met ladies who are friendly, open, and down to earth, but who have boundaries and make those boundaries clearly known while remaining very open minded. From my observation, guys are usually very enamored by such ladies.. There is even an ex-colleague coming to mind right now. Very friendly and attractive but if I hear say you see anything.. My first "love" was also like that. On the other hand, you have ladies who are unfriendly, for whatever reason, and believe they need to put up a tough front (by the way, the ladies I referred to earlier can get tough when needed but even then, they maintain their openness and calm headedness unless the guy is just totally unreasonable).. This category of ladies may discourage a lot of guys who don't have the confidence, thick skin or patience to push through. And then there is the category of readily available ladies who shower lots of attention and are ready to do anything the guy wants to show their "love". Except for the very simple, many guys can see through them and most guys will believe that if she can do this with me, she can do it with someone else. And most guys wouldn't wants such. In some cases though, the man may just think well, there's no one that's perfect and go ahead to wife her, or he may realise that she's just like that cos she is so much in love. Notwithstanding the above, a key thing to note is that a lady can fall into all 3 categories (at different points in time and/or with different people), and the category she falls into when interacting with a guy will play a role in how the guy perceives her and will likely inform his eventual decision. |

However, let’s not minimize their crimes... It’s ARMED ROBBERY, regardless of what they stole. > I'm not minimizing it, as ARMED robbery carries with it a significant threat to life.. However, I guess I just do not really like the idea of capital punishment especially when there was no life lost (this excludes when it is clear that the perpetrator had the intent and/or made the attempt to commit murder). A long sentence might be better, but, is that really better in Nigeria |

Read people read.. Disallowed in the banking sector does not mean totally banned. If you have, no problem. if you are able to purchase, no problem (how you pay for it is left to you but "apparently" won't be through a Nigerian bank)
It's similar to how some items are banned from the official FX market but not banned from imports or purchase. In such cases people buy FX from the parallel market to fund such transactions. |
