Pieromania: Ok, continue being arrogant. The women have constantly validated my assertion that arrogance and pride is the problem of marriages today and yet they cry fowl. They have been so sensually twisted that submissiveness is slavery, yet most of them can not stare at the faces of their bosses in offices bt have the effontery to abuse their husband. Una never see anything. They read their bible and go to church bt throw away every scriptural command,bt have the audacity to say a pastor did this and that while simple command of submissiveness is slavery to them.CONTINUE There you are wrong; communication, infidelity and financial strains are the biggest issues in most marriages. Definitely arrogance and pride would cause issues in any relationship not limited to marriage alone. Worth noting as well that these are 2 way streets; any man or woman bringing such bullshit into any relationship shouldn't expect good results or outcome. A typical example is the pastor sited, 'i will kill tou and marry another woman' that's truck load of bull crap arrogance. Like it's only him that can kill or remarry. Anyways im not surpised as a man you didnt sight that. I really hope you've being educated today, this mindset is only set for doom. |

Pieromania: Women should learn to be submissive to their husband, that is the problem of women of this days especially Nigerian women. This ego of 'we are all equal' has made most marriages miserable. That he is a pastor does not make him less a human Why should an adult be submissive to another another adult? Are women goats or is marriage slavery? That's only when submitting can be in the same sentence as marriage. Even children do not submit, as parents tou can only guide, ultimately the pave their future. |

Interesting how we were still discussing consensual sex and date rape here a few days ago and now the Kemen/big brother issues has come up.
For many still doubting the benefit/essence of big brother, atleast the anecdote has brought to life that
1.) sex in any form should be consesual. 2.) If it's not, there can be dire consequences 3.) Date rape, groping or sexual harrassment is frowned upon in a sane world and by many sane people 4.) No remains NO, even if the girl walks starkers after collecting your awoof food and you stupidly spend your money. Control yourself, afterall you don't go raping every mad woman you see roaming the streets naked.
If not for anything, thank you big brother making Nigeria and Africa wake up to address the elephant in the room, called CONSENT. Those who have ears should listen, many of your brothers are holed up in jails abroad from one night ruses gone wrong! |

DollarAngel: I have conversed with Ladies on how they lost their Virginity the truth is, When it comes to sexual abuse there are always vulnerability, Most felt unprotected, unable to resist on their own, and isolated by what has happened to them. This is why I admonish our Nigeria schools to adds sexual abuse program to the curriculum, it should tightly focus on basic the difference between "good" and "bad" touching, alerting them to dangers and encouraging them to tell an adult if anything untoward happens to them. Totally agree the need teach Sexual education and protection against sexual harrasment and abuse in school curriculum. I have had 2 relationships that started with rape. Many ask why and how? Its a combination of guilt of did i put myself in the situation to no real reporting body or line to the added drama and attention of what people will say or think. Of course the rapists were not total strangers, probably someone you're already relating with and could have possibly given in to at a later date, but that never erases the fact that at that point in time, the girl's no is no! Reverse the question and you'd have your answer.
Is it proper for your brother to eat food cooked by your wife? Whatever is your answer, is the answer to your original question.
Courtesy demands that even when you visit friends and they've hosted and cooked for you, you offer to do the dishes. This can sometimes be forgiven if you take a gift or a bottle of wine along. I bet this same brother doesn't drop a coin or buy anything into the house, and i bet your wife is not only responsible for the actual cooking of meal but probably for the shopping and maybe even the cost.
My father taught me from an early age if you're going to visit or live with someone; the least you can be is a welcomed nuisance! |

yagganess: my wife's father is late and mother is alive. Both my parents are still alive.
we want to work out how much money to send to the parents each month and the problem is she wants to send the same amount both ways. My issue with that is if we send the same amount both ways then one side will need to split the amount between 2 people, yet the other side is one person.
I feel that to make it fair we need to to send by person rather than the side of family. This way each parent gets the same amount of money
what are your thoughts We also give the parents a monthly stipend, our situation is the other way round.....hubby's dad is late but we send equal amount to each family.....as it's a household income. I bet your wife's mom isnt living alone and will probably have other mouths and hanger ons to feed. I think its fair to make it equal....regardless of who is bringing more cookie to that table as others have advised here. Infact my hubby has other 4 other well to do siblings that followed suit in the monthly pocket-money thing, therefore his mum.ranks in about 120k monthly, where woth my folks, im.rhe only constant....my siblings only dip in as they feel.like and a couple are going through rough times and occasionally still need to bailed out. I feel my MIL is a lil bit of a spendthrift though, and regardless of the regular monthly income for the past 5 years, when generator spoil or tomato scarce she'd be calling for more funds. Even though i feel that's the essence of the regular income; to learn to manage your income against expenses and unforseens. I won't however say that enough justification to rob Peter to pay paul. Just my 2 cents |

Also note how he's sly used his stage name wizkid as xo artist but used his gull name ayodeji balogun as writer. Obviously an intentional attempt to derail. Kyla used her stage name in both instances https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Dance as you can see from Wikipedia ayodeji balogun is one of the writers....i think the percentage of nigerians/african writers is quite high making ot very doubtful that it doesn't have a nigerian influence. Family › Re: Agonies Of A Child Born Of A Wicked Mother by tsmith(f): 12:33pm On Jun 21, 2016 |
Sabuta: Hello family. I write this memo to seek your opinion about a pressing family issue am confronted with. My story is a very long one but I wil try and make as brief as possible.
I was dating this beautiful lady and all was going well until the issue of marriage popped up. I really loved her and I believe she loves me too. We are both working in thesame city and stay independent of our parents who are in the village. I introduced her to my family and there was little or no resistance from my dad and brothers. Unfortunately, my momsy and her sisters reject and forbid me to marry her. I ask her why and she came up with lazy excuses- the lady's background, family, and all that. I understand that my mum really wants to hand pick a wife for me- but I vehemently refused. I kept pushing for it- going after my heart and praying about it. Of all the excuses my mum gave me, non was personality related. This lady's personality is hard to come by. So I decided to go ahead with the wedding. A few weeks to the wedding the lady took in for me and I informed my parents. We are both cool with that as I counted it a blessing. I was already counting months to been a father.
On the wedding day my mum refused to turn up for the wedding. Now I know it sounds crazy but that what actually happened. Anyways, it was a success and we were pronounced husband and wife.
We started our little home praying for each other and for peace with my mother. Everyday my wife cries out to God to soften the heart of my mother and we kept seeking for forgiveness. She reminds me to call my parents and encourage me to remember my siblings after collecting every paycheck. She was always in touch with my dad and even sends my siblings little token after she collects her salary. I cannot express how much she loved my family and really wanted peace with everybody. She has committed more effort to integrate into my family than I have myself. In everything she does, she puts my siblings first before hers. They say women are selfish- but my woman is selfless.
After nine months, it is time to become a father. We went shopping, bought all the necessary things required to welcome our little angel. Our hearts were filled with joy despite all the hate from my mother. Thank God we are living very far from my mother. So it was kinda easy to manage her hatred towards my wife. But just when I was assuming how easy it was to manage her, trouble began.
A few days to My wife's EDD, she noticed slow movement of the baby in her womb, went to the hospital and doctors advised a CS. Baby's activity was fast decreasing and doctors evacuated the baby. Baby was born- and I was a father. Sadly doctors said the baby had an uncommon disease (name withheld) and would require a surgery. Surgery was done and baby pulled through. All the while we were praying as the disciples did on Pentecost day. We got many pastors involved and all that. Regretfully, baby couldn't survive this wicked world and she gave up after few weeks.
Now it was grieving time. I called my mom to tell her of the demise of my baby but guess what- she laughed over it and said 'this is just the beginning'. Thank God for my in laws, they were there every step of the way- may God bless and prosper them, Amen. I didn't receive any sympathy from my sister either, only my dad and brothers. Life goes on.
I thank God because I was able to be a man and stand by my wife. God gave me the grace to be there for her against all odds. Financially, I bless God. At my age I am able to do a lot of things my peers couldn't . The last time I received any financial help from anybody in my life was in 2010. Since then, God has always prepared a table for me before my enemies. Baba God noni.
Now God has a way of revealing things to the holy. My wife is more religious than me. I am more of an evidence based reasoning person than faith and all. However I always believe in doing good to people. That could possibly be the reason why my plate is always full with manna.
So my wife woke me up one night and told me of how God has been making revelations to her. She has kept this in her heart for so long because she doesn't want anything that will cause any further damage to the peace we are trying to achieve. But it was too much for her to bear- she told me of a dream she had. She saw my mum carrying our wedding photo to a witch doctor. Yes that sounds crazy, right? But you know what? It sounds crazier to me at first. Like I earlier said am more of evidence based person, so I started looking for evidence. Thank God to my Frnd working in telecom industry (name withheld). I started looking for my mum call records since my wedding. My Frnd at first told me of how sensitive it is to release such records- it has has cost people their career. Long and short of it- I was able to listen to her call records.
They say wonders shall never end. I have heard of stories of parents halting their children successes and vice versa ( thanks to nollywood). I never knew that I would be the next victim. I tried not to believe it but the more I try the more I am in touch with reality. To cut the long story short, my mum has connived with her sister to travel to the east to consult a witch doctor with our wedding photo. Nollywood movie, right? May you never experience this in Jesus name.
Now let me take a flash back to my childhood days- my mom loved all her children a lot. She's a disciplinarian and she tried in raising us the best way she could. Several times when I was a kid, she selects my friends for me, regulates my movement etc. Even in my university days she scrutinizes my friends. But one thing she tried to develop in me was how to hate her 'perceived' enemies. Whenever she has a problem with any woman or family in the estate, she doesn't allow us to play with the children of such. She will stop us from talking to kids in that house and would paint that family black. But the stubbornness in me wouldn't let me follow her directives on this one. She want us to have common friends and enemies. Worst case scenario is I collect koboko.
A brief background of her sister: Her sister has similar character with my mom, very possessive and always exercising control over other people's affairs. About 15 years ago, I remember her visiting a witch doctor to help her solve some family issues. When our going was good, she once boasted to me saying 'the death of my mother in law was the saving grace of my marriage'.
It's been more than 6 months since I spoke to my mom. Crazy, right? Pls don't crucify me yet- this world is a wicked place. I and my wife decided to pray and fast about the dream she had. Coupled with the evidence of call records, I informed my dad of the malicious attack on my daughter and how she died. He encouraged me to pray and he equally joined me in fasting. #heartOfaFather. As I type this story on my phone, my wife and I have not broken our fast.
Recently, my mum sent me a message threatening that my wife will never give birth. In her words 'over my dead body will your harlot bear children'. Yes! She said that. Still doubting ? Ride on...
Of recent, my wife started complaining of stomach issues- lower abdominal pains. She had several scans that revealed a growing ovarian cyst. It is growing at an alarming rate. Doctors said if it doesn't stop growing then she will need a surgery. In the last 3 weeks she has had four scans.
Two days ago she cried out to me 'baby my only mistake in this life is being your wife- I haven't done anything wrong to anybody. I was living a happy and fulfilled life before I met you. I have parents and family who love me. Why does your mother wants to take away my life? Am counting days to leave this wicked world. I have had enough of its wickedness.'
I consoled her, prayed over her and gave her hope. I told her these times are hard but we shall overcome. I immediately called my dad and request him to warn my mum from hurting my wife otherwise I will take unpleasant action.
Today I am to take a decision of what to do to save my ailing wife from dying. I want to save her without hurting anybody but if need be for me to hurt someone, I will. Comments strictly for matured minds pls. So its probably true you have physical evidence to back your mum's wicked intentions (i.e. withe the call records and hwr actions). However what is not certain is the power/prowess of these diabolic means. Do not be deterred with your realistic rationalisation... your wife's ill health and the unfortunate loss of your child are all medically though coincidental. Many have health issues and are triumphant and overcome them....you won't be the first or last. Dont be deterred or distracted but focus your energy and resources of overcoming the medical issues and emotional support for your wife. Pastors ooh, mum ooh, jazz ooh....all naa lie. You could let your mum know you are aware of her antics and advise her al are futile, she can save herself all the wahala and then totally cut her off. There is no point adding bad vibes to the turmoil you guys are going through |

- They had to put her at the trunk of a pickup truck? Do they know how uncomfortable it is? - A pit for 8 months they say? She is on low cut, the hair did not grow during the 8 months? Sure looks like she has visited the barber in less than 1 month to me. - They could not give her water or food, they had to be taking pictures? - The idiiots couldn't even give her wrapper to cover herself? No! They would rather take pictures. Some human beings are sick.
I am so confused. Help me Jesus!!! Often times when the body goes through trauma, hair loss occurs. This often happens around the 6 months Mark. Suddenly diet changes/ restrictions will often have effects as demonstrated. Change to body structure/skeleton probably a result of confined space and position. Immediate consumption of food and water will not immediately transform 8 months of malnutrition, so it's quite biase to think that's not been offered. I agree her decency should have been persevered, but hey social media is in, people will take pictures then offer help. Let your imagination run wild, thinking from our confined viewpoint has more cons than pros. |

Family › Re: The Man Tai Solarin by tsmith(f): 1:58am On Jan 09, 2016 |
dinana: Augustus Taiwo "Tai" Solarin (20 August 1922 – 27 June 1994)
Augustus Taiwo "Tai" Solarin (20 August 1922 – 27 June 1994) was a Nigerian educator and author. He established the famous Mayflower School, Ikenne, Ogun State in 1956. In 1952, Solarin became the principal of Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo, a post he held till 1956 when he became the proprietor and principal of Mayflower School.
Early life
Solarin's exact birth date is unknown, but it is assumed that he was born in 1922 in Ikenne, Ogun State, in Western Nigeria. He attended Wesley College in Ibadan. He served with the Royal Air Force in the Second World War, and remained in Britain, studying at University of Manchester, and then at the University of London. Tai Sholarin married English-born Sheila Mary Tuer in 1951.
Mayflower
The Mayflower campus, which he established, is made up of hundreds of hectares of land, based in Tai Solarin's birth Place, Ikenne, Ogun State. Approximately 8,000 students are in attendance .
The campus includes classrooms, administration buildings, small houses for many of the teachers, dormitory accommodations for about 2,000 boarders, and a farm. The school is noted for very high academic achievement.
Post independence critics
Tai Solarin is one of the post-Independence civil rights critics and activists in his native Nigeria; some others were Fela Anikulapo-Kuti (musician) Beko Ransome-Kuti, Wole Soyinka (Nobel Laureate), Ayodele Awojobi, Dele Giwa, Gani Fawehinmi (lawyer), and Ken Saro-Wiwa. For the majority of the first forty years after independence, Nigeria had no effective opposition to the mostly military government of the day.
These activists acted as an effective opposition to the ruling government. In 1975, when the General Gowon Regime delayed returning power to a civilian regime, Tai published his "The Beginning of the End" statement, which he then physically distributed on the roadside. He was subsequently imprisoned for this act. Throughout his lifetime Tai fought running battles with various governments in a bid to improve the lot of Nigerians.
Mr. Solarin was an intellectual guru for Nigeria's disenchanted and disfranchised for four decades. His writings in magazines and newspapers, highlighting what he called the hypocrisy and vulgarity of the Nigeria of his day, frequently angered people in power.
He was a vehement critic of military rule in Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation, and an ombudsman in three states in 1976 and 1977
As a columnist, Tai was a relentless critic of Nigerian military rule, as well as of corruption in the government and the church. He was often jailed for his public remarks.
Modesty
In a country and an age where dignitaries wore flowing Agbada to show their wealth and position, Tai was known to always wear simple khaki shorts and shirt.
Prophet of self-reliance
One of Tai Solarin's basic principles was self-reliance, a part of the curriculum at Mayflower.
The Peoples Bank
In 1989, The Peoples Bank was founded by the government, and Tai Solarin became the first chairman. The bank was created to disburse soft loans and other forms of credit to the very poor to start their own businesses.
Humanist
Tai Solarin was also a well known humanist and atheist who opposed the ownership of the schools by churches. Tai Solarin once said that "black(people) hold onto their God just as the drunken man holds on to the street lamp post—for physical support only."In 2004, the Mayflower School played host to an International Humanist Conference, commemorating the life and work of Tai Solarin. It was attended by guests from the United States, Africa and Europe.
Uncle Tai, as he was popularly known, derived immense pleasure in selflessly and fearlessly advocating for a better Nigeria, an action borne out of genuine, unfettered, earnest and heartfelt feeling about the state and future of the nation and the future generation. He was dissatisfied with the mindboggling erosion of values, the misrule and total collapse of all facets of life and sectors in the country and expressed shock at the unfathomable silence and culpability of the leadership and people.
He was never known to capitulate to ephemeral inducements, paradisal accountrements and corporeal appurtenances. Tai Solarin was unequivocal and explicit on the side of justice, truth and fairplay, was always ready to suffer for the sake of others, share in their misery and stand by the weak
Tai Solarin wrote regularly for the Daily Times, the Nigerian Tribune and The Guardian.
Tai Solarin University of education
In November 1995, the Nigerian National Universities Commission (NUC) formally recognised the "Tai Solarin University of Education" (TASUED) Ogun State, as the first specialised university of education, the 27th state university and the 76th university in Nigeria. Some of his work includes:
Towards Nigeria's Moral Self-Government, Thinking with You. A Message for Young Nigerians. To Mother With Love. Mayflower; the story of a school. Timeless Tai.
Sheila Solarin (née Mary Tuer) was a British woman married to the late Tai Solarin. She was named an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II on 17 October 2007 for services to education in Nigeria. She ran Mayflower School on behalf of her late husband Tai Solarin.
War service
Sheila met her husband while both were in the forces following the World War II.
Education establishments in Nigeria
In 1952 they decided to move to his native Nigeria, and both worked in Molusi College ijebu Igbo.
But they disagreed with the politics of the day and religious discrimination in schools, and decided to build their own in a town called Ikenne.
On 27 January 1956, Tai Solarin and his wife founded the first and only secular school in Nigeria, Mayflower School, Ikenne, Ogun State.
The Students' Second Home was established by Sheila and her husband in 1977, a boarding house which serves more than two thousand students of the three public high schools in Ikenne town. Also complementing the now state-owned Mayflower School, was the establishment of the privately owned Mayflower Junior School, the primary school arm of the Mayflower institution, a citadel of secular education for self-reliance and all round excellence.
Using breeze blocks made from clay they constructed two classrooms, each able to accommodate 36 pupils. The student also helped in construction of more class rooms .
"They had their bunks at the back of the class, and the desks at the front'" said Sheila who has been an English teacher for 50 years. "We didn't ask anybody what their ethnic background or religion was, we simply wanted to provide an education for all the children in the area."
The school became more popular, and Sheila and her husband were forced to extend, making it one of the biggest in the country.
They even made the furniture on site, much of it using wood from trees Sheila planted herself.
She headed the Mayflower School on behalf of her late husband Tai Solarin. Sheila officially retired at 80 and passed much of the responsibility on to her children.
Personal life
Sheila and her husband had two children Corin and Tunde Solarin. She died on 21 October 2012, at the age of 88. Tai Solarin, Omo Yoruba atata!!! Proud product of Tai Solarium and his legacy! Omo tobi ju egberun lo, mele kaa won tan..... |

Celebrities › Re: Meet Fela Kuti's 18-yr Old Grandson Omorinmade Who Is An Afrobeat Star(photos) by tsmith(f): 8:02pm On Jul 22, 2015 |
sixtuschimere: Talent they say sometimes run in family.First was late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and then Femi and Seun Kuti. The Kuti family is blessed with another Afro music star in the making,Omorinmade.
Omorinmade popularly called Made by his friends is Femi Kuti's eldest son and Fela Kuti's grandson. He is the product of union between Femi Kuti and his divorced wife Funke. He is 18-yrs old and has already started displaying his musical skills.Omorinmade recently performed for the very first time at Fela's Shrine in Lagos.
Currently he is studying music and dance at the same institution his late grandfather Fela Kuti attended- Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
He joined his father Femi Kuti who is currently on his European tour to produce a produce a mind blowing performance.Barbican reported that Femi Kuti Afrobeat is one of the best to have emerged from Africa. I saw the band in Bristol last week, it was a fantastic show and Femi got very emotional and proud about playing on the same stage wirh his son. We were even allowed backstage passes, and took pixs with Femi. Id say Femi is a better performer than Seun hands down. Saw Seun 2 on the ago and at sometime he was booed as he was honing on his antifeminism thingy too much and not the performance

Education › Re: When To Use "Will" Or "Would" In A Sentence. by tsmith(f): 11:53pm On Jul 17, 2015 |
thecreativeguy: Many of us do get this twisted. You know, when we ought to use 'will' in a sentence, we use 'would', and vice-versa. Some of us might not even know our sentence becomes grammatical incorrect when we replace one of the words with another.
Note. None of us is perfect with The Use Of English (even many English natives can't boast of being perfect with it) We all learn every day. So, let us learn something today.
We use will :
to talk about the future – to say what we believe will happen
to talk about what people want to do or are willing to do
to make promises and offers.
Would is the past tense form of will . Because it is a past tense it is used:
to talk about the past.
to talk about hypotheses – things that are imagined rather than true.
for politeness
Examples
We'll be late. We will have to take the train.
Would as the past tense of Will (to say what we believed would happen)
I thought I would be late …… so I would have to take the train.
When you want to make an Offer or promise, use Will.
I’ll give you a lift home after the party. We will come and see you next week.
Would, for polite offers and invitations:
Would you like to come round to morrow? Would you like another drink?
Etc.
Hope you learn something. You can check for more resources online. Thanks Also will is used for certainty whilst would is conditional I will like to visit you tomorrow I would like to visityou tomorrow if I get off work in time |

Health › Re: Abortion Leads To Breast Cancer, FACH Warns by tsmith(f): 9:04pm On May 06, 2015 |
Adesiji77: Health experts under the auspices of The Foundation for Africa Cultural Heritage have raised the alarm that abortion could lead to breast cancer.
According to FACH president, Dr. Nkechi Asogwa, many cases of breast cancer have been linked to the aftermath of an abortion.
She said that contraceptives and other birth control pills that have been banned in the United States due to their side effects were being shipped to Nigeria.
Asogwa said that Nigerians deserve to be told the medical risks involved in taking birth control pills, to enable them to make informed choice.
She said, “When you terminate a pregnancy you end many ongoing processes in the body such as the preparation of breast for the secretion of milk. So the tissues that were cut off suddenly would become fragile and they can trigger the formation of cancerous cells in the breast.
“There are about five health implications attached to most of these drugs and that was why theys were banned in the West. But here, no one is asking questions.
Also speaking at the forum, a biomedical scientist, Obianuju Ekeocha, warned that abortion might damage the womb and lead to future infertility.
She called on the Federal Government to resist any pressure from international partners to legalise abortion.

Ishilove, lalasticlala, Xiadnat Only in Africa will they come out with dumb assertions without adequate research. Abortion leads to breast cancer!!! How absurd? Yes, some contraception increase your chances of cancer, but using contraception is not the same as abortion. Even here in the UK, you are made aware of the increased risk of cancer whilst using some contraception so the statement that drugs that have been banned in the western world are been shipped to Africa is void. Might just as well miscarriages. stillbirths and infant death leads ro breast cancer too, because after all the breast tissues have formed in readiness for a baby that never suckled. Such unvalidated research should not be on the front page as its misinforming, there too many ignorant and lazy to read people abound that take news hook, line and sinker. |
