Patrick Obahiagbon can actually communicate!!! That's at least one good thing worth celebrating this 'independence day' |
kokoA: Seeing in believing.. I'd be taking a stroll there in no time to see for myself.I like you gan nii, you smart so tay!! There is security alert on a place, that is when you want to visit, becase "seeing is believing"! Smart thinking, sorry Heaven thinking |
No surprise at all, as often times there would be copy cat acts from similar groups. Also, emerging news/rumours that 'White widow' Samantha Lewthwaite might be in Nigeria at the mo! To all, If you don’t have genuine business in any of this public places, try and stay away! To all them ladies that perambulate aimlessly, a word they say is enough for the wise! Trusting Naija, if the Kenya siege was to happen in Nigeria, everyone in the building would be death victims, no survivors! Our emergency response zero! Military/police response big Zero!! Experience of dealing with major crisis another Zero!!! |
I have this to share with anyone going through abuse; physical or emotional (yeah there is emotional abuse)! At the end of the day, it's all within us. I found this poem quite inspiring yet liberating. Its often wrongly attributed to Nelson Mandela as he used it as part of his inaugural speech. Our Deepest Fear By Marianne Williamson Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness That most frightens us. We ask ourselves Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small Does not serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking So that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, As children do. We were born to make manifest The glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; It's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, We unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, Our presence automatically liberates others. |
Tsmith Yes, overseas its not uncommon to see others who are less qualified, promoted over you. There are many reasons for that, none of which have anything to do with the age at which you started school or what you learned there. Its one of the things that come with being a black african immigrant?
Anyone can choose to play the race card if it suits them, but i for one choose to be objective and critcally analyse things. Qualification isnt by certifcates but rather good translation of experience and skills aka Deliverables/outputs. Its the end that justifies the means; unfortunately they way we have been taught makes us good employees but not employers. You surely would find lots of Nigerians working in blue chips international companies, but how many entreprenuers and busniess starters do have? The few we sing like songs of priase; Dangote, Otedola, Adenuga. And to be realistic, they arent exactly ground breaking pioneers, but rather have the advantage of location, time and 'Know who' working to their advantages. I studied entrepreneurial Studies for my Masters here in the UK, and its wasn’t surprising that I had a entrepreneurial streak in me, however location (Nigeria) and ways of teaching didn’t discover this and help me nurture it. Knowledge without application amounts to nothing IMO. Our syllabus is over saturated, why learn what you would never make use of? I wasn’t a further maths student yet was forced to learn frustum, almighty formulas etc. For Pete’s sake why would I need to calculate volume of a bucket when its stated clearly on the side? I think there are loads of stuff we could do without and leave to the specialist in that field not force kids to take on a junk load of info. That been said, there is always a flip side to a coin; just recently I was reading that the UK was looking to mirror the curriculum of India and some other developing countries, after realising that students are not been challenged enough academically. So really its about find a good midway ground, without losing sight of the creative juices. |
I think they are over saturating the child and you have a valid reason to be concerned. I am Nigerian educated for the greater portion of my life (to 1st degree) and now live and work abroad. The difference between 'us' and 'them' is vast. My manager doesnt even have a 1st degree but rather loads of expercience whereas I have a masters, and a truckload of other certifications but often times lacks application. My son is 5 and just ofrom reception to Year 1, i marvel at the way we were taught and the way they are being taught. my husband and I jokingly say we never did so much imaginative and creative projects in our whole live that we have done for him & his sist in preschool/reception and now year 1. They start them off learnig through play; its about songs, scribbles, messy paintings and creations. touch, feel, texture and knowing oneself in terms of emotions etc. That is the awaking part that we lacked and that is what often times marks a inventor (creator, entrepreneurs) form an employee! At that level, its their creativity and imagination that should be developed, as the mind and brain develops, the facts start to come in, but because the ground work (imagination) has been prepped, its easier to absolve and translate the facts later in life. When my son started school at 4, he could sing his ABC and count 1-10, but that was about it. He couldnt exactly identify all the alphabeths, we were asked not to teach them because they would be taught phonic and teaching straight forward ABC could confuse them. I must admit it was initially dauting, but within a year, he knows he phonics and is able to marry sounds. Now he can identify over 200 words, and makes a good attempt to sound out the unfamiliar ones. But the thinking, questions and logic he comes out with, me sef dey weak! That been said, kids can be different, his lil sister who just turned 3, can count 1-100 easily, kow and identifies her ABC and knows alot of phonics. (courtesy when his big brother is learning). Obvoiusly she is gifted and would be encouraged but not pressured, cause truly at the end of the day, a child is still a child and life is too beautiful to miss out chunks of it! That been said, i remember 2 years ago, my nephew came visiting from Nigeria, he is just a few months older that my son, but could count 1- whatever then when my son didnt even know 1-10. But listening closely to him, you would realise he was just in motion; counting/reciting without understanding. Ask what number comes after 11, he cant say, but would happily count over 11. I hope you get me! |

Everyone goes through rough patches in life and often times this brings about stress and sadness (depression). It's almost logically that someone you thought was strong commuted suicide and you are now thinking along same line. It's a result if circumstance, time and location. If generally people around you sink to drinking etc when they r sad, you'd probably want to do same. That been said, at the and of the day we have the ultimate control on the effects/impacts we allow the circumstances and events have on us. It's all in the mind, you can retrain your mind to think 'dude killed himself, because of so n so, but I'm not gonna allow same happen to me. I'm going to live above this and be triumphant from it" Writting things down does help, it reinforces the message. I know you might think it's easy to say for me, but contrary I'm going through a low and these has helped me greatly. I know for certain there is light at the end of every tunnel |
At this point it is safe to say you are not saved and in darkness. Worse still you have been deceived. Receive Jesus Christ as Lord and accept remission of sins.
i laugh in Greece!!! So what makes you better than me? Using every yardstick possible: Heavenly - I'm rest assured I'd make heaven ahead of you!!! Spiritually - i bet you still run to pastor to bless you, your child, work and for prayers. I pray myself to God and I get answers Earthly - I also bet many things you are yet to dream of or attempt, I already have, because i believe! Prescence; secured. Future secured! Nepa sef, secured! And you are here saying someone is in darkness? abeg, go top up your 'i better pass my neighbour' with petrol |
elampiro: The Pope is saying atheist should be comfortable being atheist and you support him?Yes, I support him. Call me a radical Christian, but my experiences in life have shaped me and my belief. I believe in God, because I have personally experienced in and have a 1 on 1 relationship with him. I believe in Jesus Christ & the bible (to some extent) because that these have been indoctrinated into me and fed my belief. But I do not believe Christianity is the only way to God. I believe one’s good deeds would speak bigger volume that the religion you practice on the last day (if there is one) To start off, the bible was written by human beings like me, their account of events, for the fact that I didn’t see nor was I present at these events leave room for doubt! I also believe because the bible has literary and factual meanings to things, Man over time have interpreted/misinterpreted these (remember what happens with Chinese whispers?). We talk about God’s grace and how big and incomprehensive it is to man’s understanding, yet we under-estimate such grace. What makes you think on the last or at the gates of heaven, that God would not change his mind contrary to the bible and extend grace to each person. His grace never ends. I have asked him, the same way he spoke people 3000 years ago to speak to me too, until then I believe what I know, and these keeps changing as time goes. And despite all these, does his grace abide with me or not? Everything the most spirococo person prays and fast for, my Father gives according to my needs, so who dares to contend with me on my belief? I’m not a catholic, however this latest Pope has impressed me a lot and is very forward thinking! Read my posts; I posted on the need for religion to be brought up to date and into the 21st century, I think backdated religion is man’s greatest problem today; Nigeria is a an exemplary case study! I am not gay, and would only be flattered if my fellow female made a pass at me, however with a polite decline. Yet, been gay doesn’t mean one can’t be useful in God’s vineyard or can’t be a child of God. The hypocrisy of the Church is laughable! |
elampiro: There is a difference between the ancestors and now. The ancestors never had the opportunity to hear about God yet history has it they still looked up to heaves (sky) when they called upon a Supreme Being. They are different from atheist who rejected the good news.So you haven't answered the question raised if all ancestors would go to hell, even though they never had the opportunity to hear about God. Its a clear case if by chance you believe they might make heaven due to lack of God's knowledge, then you are thinking alongside the Pope. Likewise atheists; they have have very good justifications within their conscience for not believing and that could just be permissible in Heaven. So you are saying you would rather the Pope lied so people can be called to the beauty of God? I dont think that's what Christianity is about, the truth shuld be said at every given opportunity and at the end of the Day, is comes down to personal choice. I have met some very decent and morally upright people that are not christians, but yet have more love for others than demostrated by many Christians. I feel these people actually deserve heaven more than someone with little or no consideration for others but a 'Christianity' badge. |
Pataki: I have taken it upon myself to constantly revive this thread. The missing girl - Oluwaseun could have been someone we all know. You think you are angry? i started an online petition with exract below and even called the telephone numbers listed, (i believe it was answered by the mom) but the lackdasical 'she would be found in Jesus name' and refusal to state the RCCGs input so far just killed it for me. At the end of the day, you only help does who want to be helped, if the loss of their child can't open their eyes, what can? in the same vain, the ignoramus displayed by OP and earlier posters, not realising that the 1st few days were most crucial to finding a missing person, as every media should be utilised to the fullest. I am sad and broken, the country is a joke, and as much as i can say I'm not in the midst of the joke, i can't ignore that fact that the joke is on every single one of us, we need a total re-engineering of the mind. I rest my case, just for a lil while! Background: Any parent’s worst nightmare is for your little one to be missing; 5years old Oluwaseun Ogungbemile went missing since Friday 9th of August 2013 on the Redemption Camp ground where she and her family were attending the 61st Holy Ghost Convention. This is an unfortunate event which took place in a ‘fortunate’ place as a any normal person would expect the backing of the Church to utilise the vast resources at it’s disposal to ensure this girl if found. But, contrary to expectations, the Church has tried to keep the missing girl’s case away from the public glare. PunchNgr “:….it was not the wish of the church that the news of the abduction be leaked to members of the public.” The Redeem Christian Church of God is one of the biggest churches in Africa; with over 2000 parishes in Nigeria, presence in over 40 countries and approximately 5 million members all over the world. The head of the Church; Pastor E.A Adeboye has a very active website and Facebook page with over 1.1 million followers, the Church also has Television & Radio stations that is broadcasted around the World. However despite the wide coverage, missing Oluwaseun’s case has not been aired on any of these, the Church would rather work out of the public glare in hand with the Police & girl’s family. The Redeem Christian Church of God is based on Christian doctrines and the bible. As such it is only relevant to refer to the following bible verses and a reminder of one of my favourite stories as told by Jesus Christ himself: Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Proverbs 21:13 Whoever closes his ear to the cry of the poor will himself call out and not be answered. 1 John 3:17-18 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Luke 15:3-8(NIV) The Parable of the Lost Sheep 3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Charity the say, begins at home This is not a finger pointing exercise or avenue for religious bashing, rather a plea for help, to allow compassion prevail above all other things. Also another opportunity to showcase what true discipleship is as we walk in God’s path. Petition: We the undersigned implore the Redeem Christian Church of God to help and support the search for Oluwaseun Ogungbemile, so that she can be re-united with distressed family. 5 years old Oluwaseun Ogungbemile went missing from the Redemption Ground just before noon on Friday 9th of August 2013 during the 61st Holy Ghost Convention. To broadcast and air the missing girl’s case to all and sundry utilising as many of the communication media at the Church’s disposal. To showcase the World what true Christianity is |
is the woman an animal, under 18, or mentally incapable? if the answer to any of this is yes, then a man can make a such decision for his wife, otherwise if the anwser to all is no, then the woman needs to make her decision on what she deems fit to wear or do. Just rightly, even if they woman changes her dressing into marriae, its still her decision to make! period!! |
Like duh!!! If he had power to inflict harm on Fashola's kids he might just as well use the power to reopen the market to Fashola's bewilderment! Abi what is the use of paradol before headache. But the guy sharp small, shebi Naa so others dey throw banana n some dey chop! Im too just try test waters! |
delpee: God please care for this girl and her parents and bring her back safely.[
God please care for this girl and her parents and bring her back safely. jennykadry: God protect her wherever she is jennykadry: Thank you thank you thank you for this post. Instead of working towards finding this girl, someone is busy blaming a non relative./q babyosisi: Oh dear!uote] You all continue to fool yourselves, God in heaven would just pluck the girl from wherever she is and make her reappear in her house. Because you all are too lazy and deluded to do and say what is right! Finding a missing person is only possible through the collective efforts of all! Any action is better than none, continue waiting for God! Last I checked he was just getting out of bed.... Awon amuu nii gbaese!! |
You all are missing the point here, silence wasn't bought, buy rather understand her plight; it's a typical he didn't sleep with me, so it's the problems of those who fell. Also she would have feared the plight of disbelief, similar to what Ese is going through now. Me feels the office of PCU was specially created to satisfy the pastors intimate needs. Once he succeeds in frustrating the existing or such can't continue to live a lie and on sin, he personally scots for next victim. What I'm eager to see is how the church deals with this? Brush it under the carpet I bet! |
Pain: CULLED FROM LINDA IKEJI BLOG !! WOW!Biodun Fatoyinbo - Nigerian Jimmy Saville; only difference is you are alive for justice to be served! Many more would come out, it's a Nigerian syndrome, they only need someone to get the ball rolling. LMAO |
Interesting yet thought provoking.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOLO6tcJ3Ok&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DvOLO6tcJ3Ok |
Interesting watch, are you a Christian or a Jig-aa-boo? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOLO6tcJ3Ok&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DvOLO6tcJ3Ok |
texaco1: An open confession to 160 million ppl will close this case ,abi?brilliant. It would be a step in the right direction to start with... This dudu pastors especially live a holier than thou persona, unlike their oyinbo counterparts, who use their everyday experiences which often times illustrates that they are human and mortal like you. |
mbulela: i feel you but the lady spoilt her tale by calling herself a victim. That was a very wrong choice of word. She was a wilful participant who chose to be seduced, controlled and manipulated by a man because she like most females in the pentecostal setting choose not to read their bibles and have a personal relationship with God devoid of any intermediary called GO or Archbishop or even senior pastor.Don't miss the point, she isn't seeking justification but rather just a means to free herself. Both have sinned, but it takes the bigger person and the one with a conscience to speak out. It just goes to show, the pastor like many of his comrades have no conscience and are happy to continue with their sins and fooling themselves and followers. I would state here again, like Pastor Adeboye and the RCCG refusing to publish or spread the word to help find the Lil girl that went missing at the Redemption Camp due to the negativity it could bring the Church. Immediately that to me contradicts the commission of the church and Christianity to love one and other and Carr for brethrens/ your neighbour . likewise it raises eyebrows on Adeboye's calling as a pastor/shepherd coz even Jesus himself spoke on the true shepherd who lives all to search diligently until the missing sheep is found. The RCCG have immediately updated their website and Facebook pages for collection links to the 20 billion naira auditorium launch that happened at the same Convention the Lil girl went missing, but not one single post or mention of Lil oluwaseun Ogungbemile. When contacted by punch, they stated they do not want the incident to get to the public glare! It just shows where their true interest lies; in your pockets and their bank accounts. No true care for you the followers not to talk of the unbelievers they are yet to snare. |
babyosisi: Oh dear! You should have gone to specsavers |
I am Christian but must admit that recent happening in Churches especially the African ones is dismal and OP isn't far from the truth. A convention is held in August at the RCCG grounds for a few days, a 5 year old girl goes missing, at the same convention, a 20billion naira pledge is launched for a new auditorium with donors categorised and benefitting from different level of hand laying (http://rccg.org/index.php/new-auditorium-building-donations/). They even have time to update their website meaning the fully understand and appreciate the power of social media, yet not one mention is said of this missing girl till date. Is it the random vague prophesies ( The Lord says there shall be 50 millionaires before dawn etc) that would win an unbeliever over, or the empathy and care that you show for those in your care. Or does one put the negativity that could be associated with the episode above The missing Sheep? The Parable of the missing sheep (Luke 15:3- as told by Jesus himself...."“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?"And then Pastor E.A Adeboye & the RCCG have done nothing since then and you say one shouldn't question their conducts? My Nation, My People...In the words of Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey "Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery.....none but ourselves can free the mind.....The man who is not able to develop and use his mind is bound to be the slave of the other man who uses his mind ..." |
soreola: Please if there is anything you can do to help us find this missing child, please do. I know the people at the camp have been informed and several inquiries have been made. Just do what you can. If you have a way of contacting the owners of the social media pages pls do. We are trying what we can as well ... Thanks and God bless =)lol, my misery 400ish friens on FB is nothing compared to the churches +1 million followers, however I hope and pray that my posting this on here and on FB would provoke some thoughts and actions to spread the words. I have been following this since it happened, and i still maintain it is sad how little we rate a life! I mean when Madeline Mccann got missing it was 9and still in our face), as a nation we might not be important enough to get on CNN and BBC but we should be smart enough to use the resources at our disposal to maximum capacity. One would imagine that the lil girl getting missing on the redemption ground should be a 'fortunate' unfortune, as I would expect more coverage than if she got missing elsewhere way. |
There is CHRISTIANITY and there is STUPIDITY, and often times I wonder what many practice!!! This is exactly my point on https://www.nairaland.com/1396293/seen-5-yr-old-oluwaseun-ogungbemile/2#17580966 If the people are paying more to the Church than to the Govt, then the Church should take on part of the responsibilties of the Govt. I weak for my people oooh, coz I don't exactly blame the pastors, I blame the gullible people |
babyosisi: Did pastor Adeboye cause her disappearance? In a country where people pay more to the church than to the government, it only makes sense that the Church take on part of the responsibilities of the govt. Moreover our commission as Christians is to be our brother's keepers, I'd definitely show some concern for any mishap that happens on my grounds and house. Also, RCCG has loads of resources at hand that could help spread the news of the missing girl, from over 1million Facebook followers to millions of members all over the world not to mention the Finances!!!! At least some of that could be reasonably utilised. I am a Christian but unfortunately do not buy the 'touch not my anointing' line, which is what I see many are doing. I'm not saying the RCCG is responsible for the missing girl, but rather they could do better than nothing!!! For Pete's sake his FB page is being updated every 15 minutes or so with random and vague prophesies, for one that understands the power of social media, why not use not same for something other than selfish interest for a change. SMH |
Now I wonder what Pastor E.A Adeboye and the redeem church is doing about the case of this lil’ girl. As a big social media user (with 1million followers on facebook) and a very active page, you would expect that his page should be filled with posts + pictures of the missing girl, but to my dismay and investigations not a single mention of her on the active page with over 40 odd post within the last week. I feel this is a great wake up call to followers all over the world, there is no true care about you!!! It's Oluwaseun Ogungbemile missing today, but it could you or yours tomorrow. And for such a miracle worker isn’t this a chance to prove his worth? I have implored my 94 mutual friends on FB to bring this up, as it's no surprise that as a non follower I'm can't make a post on the page I am greatly disappointed and BTW. I am not an atheist, rather I’m actually a Christian and have attended RCCG numerous time, however I have a very clear understanding and expectation of what being a Christian should be about, and it's being our brother's keeper and Pastor Adeboye and the RCCG have demonstrated they don’t give a hoot!!! |
I wouldn't say intelligent women, but rather career driven or successful women may preferably not want kids. I have seen some housewives display great level of intelligence, and would hate to under estimate their intelligence just because they are mothers or not financial contributors to the household. |
I dont know names of actual hospitals where the foetus test is carried out, however i think someone has mentioned a number of teaching hospitals. RE: cost, it cost my friend 400k to have this done in Niegria, and thank goodness the child was AA. The downside to this testing is one is at risk of lossing the pregnancy, as a biopsy is taken from the foetus and it could lead to a miscarriage, as such 2 weeks bedrest is required after. In all, one needs to weigh the risks, cost and heartaches -vs- the love to make a decision. Imagine a worse case scenario of carrying out the test, getting good news only to lose the baby as a result of the test, and then subsequent pregnancies are SS, SC. Or a couple who have had issues conceiving, and finanly conceives after years of waiting only for it to be a carrier. What I'm driving at is there are several other issues that could happen in life, as such be very aware of the potential consequences and outcomes, then prep for the worst. If you can handle the worst, go for it, if you don't have the liver, then don't. But don't go into such a union with the mind that a miracle would happen! |
I have always wanted to donate blood regularly, and signed up on more than one occasion even whilst pregnant. but then we were in Wales and one of the questions was have u been or still sexually involved with someone that was born in Africa, so even though my hubby and I have lived in the UK for more than 5years the sexually partner question always disqualified me. it was a bit of a shame having gone with a bunch of colleagues feeling like someone doing her bit for humanity and having to return to work earlier and explaining how you can't give blood because you a potential AIDs/HIV carrier. fastward to Bristol, they finally removed the eliminator and I finally got to give a pint. felt good afterwards, no issue or dizziness, but only for me to get a mail a week later that my blood contained traces of malaria fight whatever, so K I should please not give blood again. I wan die!!! later they would say some classes of blood are scarce before there aren't enough Asians and Africans giving blood. shey they for keep my blood give African wey need am. to imagine I am O positive and AA ooh. My fear now is that I signed up my whole family for organ donation, is that how they would waste precious body parts after butchering us ![]() |
Through this thread I would majorly refer to Christianity & Islam(bible and koran), however the context may be applicable to other religions as well. For starters I feel anything that leaves room for misinterpretation is null and void. In many instances these books leave open ended interpretation with lack of clarity or need for figurative meaning above literary meaning. |
greatgod2012: forget about what religion is doing or not doing, focus on yourself, be true with yourself, "you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free" focus on being good, doing good and treating others the way you will want them to treat you. When you go to church or msque, its noy what every cleric says that you must follow or do, you have conscience, you have brain, do not allow yourself to be buried in ignarance of what people are saying, no one knows you better except you, so, if there are some things in the scripture(bible and quaran) that do not go well with you, or you think its not right, why dont you change it to suit yourself and stop blaming religion for misdeeds of people. No one that does not know him/herself, if you are good to people, you yourself will know and if otherwise, you also know, you dont need anyone to tell you who you are or your aspirations/interest in you.On the contrary, I have no issues with what I believe or my actions as a Christian or individual. Rather, my concern is more for the lot that are misguided and use these books as a guide or basis for their actions. I believe it's my duty of care to humanity to highlight issues that could adversely affect another, and could potentially hit home one day. The very SELF FOCUS which you have mentioned is a fundamental flaw and selfish trait. Ignoring a problem doesn’t make it go away, rather it grows until a molehill become an unmanageable mountain. Likewise a healthy discussion is not about apportioning blame, but rather a means of entertainment, enlightenment and seeing other point of views. That being said, I'd get back to the bone of contention |
An activity we are already use to in Abuja.
as told by Jesus himself...."“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?"
