metrecube: Bro do you think that those that have assessed already can benefit from this. A year was deducted by vetassess from my experience years. Do you think i should add the one year in filling my EOI. The one year will give me additional 5 points and the additional point will go a long way in getting nomination on time. Thanks. I can't say. Please email DHA, they'd give the appropriate clarification. |

Am about reapplying now as my company just built a website. Does this pose any risk since the website is still new? Pls advise what i should do. Assessing body is TRA No risk as long as it is genuine. If it's not, it will be best to just create online presence with google |

ExNigerian: So I’ve never commented on this site, but fine job everyone is doing guiding Australian hopefuls.
I’ll like to add a couple of things. 1. Before you embark on skills assessment(which is not cheap btw), make sure you’ve gone through the various skills lists and be sure your nominated occupation is eligible for 189 and or 190/491.
2. Ensure you check the points table to see how many points you’re likely to earn and measure against the current points required to get invited.
3. With 189 being mostly out of reach this year owing to the high points required, ensure there’re states nominating the chosen occupation for either or 190/491, and that you meet the requirements.
I’m saying this because I’ve seen a lot of people spend money on getting assessed and even getting positive assessment, then turns out they either don’t have sufficient points or their nominated occupations wasn’t in the MLTSS or STSOL or that there’s no state currently nominating the occupation or they simply don’t meet the requirements.
Goodluck to everyone expecting to be invited for 189 later today. Thanks for the heads up. The draw was conducted on the 10th and 90 points and above got ITA. As much as your points are valid, I'll also like to add that for everyone whose occupation is currently not being nominated and you have the required points especially for 491, if you can do the assessment, please do it. Some occupations get filled up within 24 hours when the states may decide to open your occupations. I believe the states are just testing waters with the 491 visa. More nominations would come in soon for offshore applicants. Good luck to everyone. |

For Australian migration purposes only - valid for 3 years. This means you must have gotten ITA within the 3 years. |

Dafa: Hi Tulex01,
Thank you so much, I have checked the list of occupation and what relates to my profession;
222312 Financial Investment Manager (STSOL) 222311 Financial Investment Adviser(STSOL)
The above relates to my experience over the years, while 224111: Actuary (MLTSSL) relates to my BSC degree with little experience.
Ill appreciate your feedback.. Cheers You can choose anyone of them. For the managerial occupation, you will be required to prove that you manage Financial investment advisers. The FIM is open in two states (NSW - 5 years and SA - high points of 95) |

BetterPerson007: Hi Tunlex, Thanks for your response. I got my assessment result about 6 months ago. I recently passed my English test at the 4th attempt. I am already following your suggestion below.
Also, I saw a notification on my EOI page that 491 category can do their medicals before lodging visa application: Posted on: 9/01/2020 at 09:30
A reminder that for the subclass 491 visa you can do your medicals before you lodge your visa application. Details can be found at: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help-support/meeting-our-requirements/health/when-to-have-health-examinations. Delaying your medicals can delay your visa processing. Good and best of luck. |

Zega: I just went through and you are right, it's very detailed.
And my next question (hopefully) the last is a matter of opinion.
From your experience or gut feeling, what do you think is my chance of getting ITA through the director (film and television)
Especially with the fact that: 1. I don't have a highly relevant education background 2. It's only nominated in two provinces and I only qualify for only one of the provinces (NA is asking for high point of 95. I can't get more than 75 from my calculation.
I have enough evidence to substantiate my self employed nature.
Cheers. Your qualification (relevant or not relevant) is inconsequential after getting a positive assessment. I am not DHA neither do I work with any of the state migration teams...the decision to proceed is up to you. |

My experience so far hasn't been with any particular company, at least not for long. It comprises years of freelance, years of contract based work. The payment are always in invoice format.
How can I package these things for the assessment. I figured the assessment is the first stumbling block.
Thanks once again. Visit Vetassess website for the documents requirements for self employed. it's detailed and clear. |

Zega: Hello Ogas In the house.
I'm at the very beginning stage of my PR adventure. I read mechanical engineering in school (b. Eng) but I have since abandoned it for filmmaking.
I noticed some States have film director( film and TV) on their job lists.
I really don't have any certificate in that line but I have verificable experience spanning years in film.
Can I still apply and what do I send to VENTASSES for assessment?
Help guys. You can use your mechanical engineering degree to assess for the occupation (212312) even though it's not related. Most likely, more than 2 years will be deducted from your years of experience if your job descriptions are well aligned. NSW and SA are currently nominating it; NSW requires a minimum of 5 years approved Vetassess experience while SA requires that you have 95 points (inclusive of 15 points for 491 visa). You can check Vetassess website for all the documents you need to send and upload. You may also wish to try the Skill Assessment Support service on Vetassess website to know if your degree will surely fly. Good luck. |

MerryCoke: Wow. What a great thread this is. I've spent the past one week reading through the threads and I went from a total novice to the point I can ask intelligent questions.
1. I studied Civil Engineering in UNIBEN. It's a five year course.
2. I've been working at a small private civil engineering firm since my graduation which totaled about 8 years of experience.
3. Since I'm 34 years of age, I plan to write PTE test till I achieve the maximum point of 20 to boost my score.
4. My question is: with all the credentials/limitations above, what job should I nominate for the best chance of getting ITA?
Thanks in anticipation.
Cc: tunlex01 bellong Option 1: Civil Engineer with EA Option 2: Civil Engineering Draftsperson with Vetassess Both are available for nomination in several states, however with EA, you will get max points for experience if you have pension or tax for the 8 years while Vetassess will deduct at least 1 year experience which will drop your experience points. |

kooolkunlex: thank you tunlex01, sorry for disturbing. Do you think I stand a chance if I assess for Chemistry technician
You can't assess as a Chemist due to your degree. Your only option will be chemistry technician. Have you gone through the tasks for the occupation? Only NSW is nominating the occupation for 491 visa and requires at least 5 years experience. Other states may nominate the occupation by July. |

beatmonster: Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate
Pls under additional point on this page https://myimmitracker.com/en/au/points SC491 has 15 points and SC190 has 5pts can you throw more light on this sir The minimum score for ITA is 65, however states and DHA have different requirements for each occupation. While some occupations will get ITA with 65 points, some occupations would need over 85 or 90 to get ITA either from the state or the federal (DHA). If you are applying for a 491 nomination, you will get 15 points in addition to your calculated points while 190 applicants with a successful nomination gets 5 points. |

beatmonster: Good morning beautiful people in the house. I checked the pr points calculator and I saw additional 10 points for STEM graduate and another additional 10points for singles. Does it mean that single and STEM graduate now have higher chances?
After selecting the option I got 85 points. Can 85points give me nomination? STEM points is for applicants who studied in STEM courses in Australia. Singles get 10 points automatically. It depends on other circumstances. If your spouse has competent English and a positive assessment, you also get the 10 points too. |
