charlso1: Good evening bosses in the house. I have done my search and found two occupations that are related to what I am currently doing; 1. Electrical engineering technician 2. Electronic instrument trade worker. Both are assessed by TRA. I don't understand the below bolded sentences that I found in the Task description. "Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with the qualifications and experience outlined below.
In Australia:
AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
In New Zealand: NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. Registration or licensing may be required."
What is the next step of action to take? It means you need at least a diploma to get positive assessment. Do you have bank statement, pension or tax statement for ALL the years? |

Bodacious1: I don't think the POF applies across all states. The conditions for 190 across all states though are quite "interesting". For instance, NSW requires you to have had a job in your nominated occupation in NSW for at least 12 months before applying for 190 (double check sha just to be sure).
Not sure what your total points are, but seeing as your English is superior proficiency, I suggest you also check out https://www.migration.sa.gov.au. That's the link for South Australia (SA). If your points average 95 (inclusive of state nomination), then 190 for SA may work for you.
Alternatively, you may consider the 491 route. 12 month living and work requirement for NSW is for few occupations not all the occupations. Most occupations only require high points to get 190. For SA 190, you need 95 points in total with 8 years experience and superior English. As you rightly said, 491 is the new gold. If 190 comes..that's awesome; if not, take 491 and move. |

What kind of skilled occupations should I be looking out for as a graduate of Electrical/Electronics Engineering (option: Telecom) from Federal Polytechnic. Please, Oga Tunlex01 help me out here. Check the occupation list to see the occupation you can nominate. Visit www.anzscosearch.comClick the Hamburger sign and select 'List' Go through the 3 lists MLTSSL, STSOL and ROL Click any of the occupations that best relate to what you do. When you click the occupation, scroll down to 'Anzsco code' and scroll to 'Tasks' Check if the tasks relate to the occupation you have selected. Twostargeneral: Thanks for replying to me. My 12 years experience has been as a medical Laboratory Scientist. Basically in a Molecular Research. IELTS score - LSRW 8.0, 7.5, 6.5, 6.0. HUBBY has Msc but will not be writing IELTS. Although I had just registered for another IELTS against March. You can assess as a MLS with AIMS however you will be given Medical Laboratory technician which is enough to get ITA. You will only be given MLS after you write the professional exam Your score is good for assessment but not good enough for state nomination or visa application cos it's zero point. You need a minimum of 7 in IELTS in each band to get 10 points. Why is hubby not writing IELTS? and I was asking for his full details like you stated for yours not just MSc. this is ensure you maximise your points to get nomination faster. Experience4u is also a MLS grant holder. |

1. Sub class 189 : 65 2. Sub class 190 ( skilled Nominated): 70 3. Sub class 491 skilled worker Regional : 80
Thank you. 65 for 189 is a no-no for 190 or 491 depends on your occupation and state nomination requirement. |

funshobabs: Thank you very much. I teach in the department of mechanical engineering. I saw am suitable for vetassess. But the fee is crazy. Please permit me to ask more questions. 1. How do i get my documents to vetassess?do they take transcript from individuals or it has to go from the institutions. 2. Do I send both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees? 3. What are my chances of getting a positive assessment? 4. What next after a positive assessment. 5. Are there any proof of funds for the whole process? Thank you. It's somewhat tiresome when people are asked many questions and they decide to respond to just one and still require us to give further insights to their requests. My earlier post was for me to get a better understanding. I'm not gonna use it to get shopping coupons lol. If mechanical engineering is classified as a non-trade course---that's Vetassess. Cost shouldn't be an issue for people applying to Australia. It's expensive at each stage but the best part is you take it one step at a time. 1. Read Vetassess website for the process. It's super clear on the website. 2. This was why I asked my initial question. 3. Positive assessment is based on you following the requirements stated and how your job descriptions aligns to a VET (non-trades) 4. You look for state nominating your occupation and create EOI(s) on SkillSelect 5. Some states do require verifiable documents to prove your POF. |

I have some months of work experience before NYSC but I don't know if they would count as there was no payslip and payment was made in cash. Also, if I were to add NYSC experience, How do I go about the payslip for that? (I only have bank statements to prove it) FInally, do the streams of 491 and 190 typically take long to get an invitation to apply? You can include all those years with ACS or mail ACS for clarification cos they tend to remove years from experience. it all depends on the state. No state is currently nominating ICT Business Analyst for offshore applicants for 491 or 190 except VIC which will send you a pre-invite (when you get such pre-invite cannot be ascertained as ICT occupation is one of the competitive occupations). |

Knight1: Hello All.
I have read some pages of this wonderful thread and done some other personal research but I still have some questions please so kindly indulge me
I wish to apply for the 189 Visa stream as an ICT Business Analyst I am 30, BEng of Electrical and Computer Engineering (5 years course from FUT Minna - 2012) Work Experience as IT officer for the last 6years 7 months, asides NYSC experience. IELTS: 9, 9, 8, 8. and I am single.
My questions: 1. How long does ACS assessment usually take? (I've seen between 10 to 12 weeks but want to confirm) 2. I noticed that the last draw was for a minimum of 90 points. I calculated my points as 85 (I could be wrong) What can one do now? 3. How long does a skill stay on the occupation list? I wish to apply as an ICT Business Analyst and I'm afraid it could be taken off the list before I am assessed 4. Can one apply for two different Visa streams at the same time?
Thanks
Cc @tunlex01, @bellong 1. As stated on the ACS website. 2. there is no assurance the points will drop. Best to keep all options open for 190 and 491 especially. 3. no one knows. DHA adds or removes as she pleases based on data from the Statistics department on the occupations 4. yes, if you have the funds however it's best to apply for one and withdraw the lesser one. Please check LinkedIn and Seek to ensure that what you do tally with what an ICT Business Analyst does in Australia. You can check up to 7 profiles/job descriptions. Good luck |

Prehciousness: Please house, is it possible for an Australian citizen to call for any of his family's relocation to Australia? If I understand your question, an Australian citizen can 'call for' his spouse and child/children as well as his parents (parent visa) For other family members, they have to seek legal ways to enter the country. He can file for visiting visa too with no work right. No one will even employ someone with a visiting visa. The citizenship can also help if he lives in a designated state/location available for 491 family sponsored/chain migration visa and the family member requiring sponsorship is a skilled migrant. |

slimy205: Please I need help. In applying for EOI 491 visa, is it advisable to choose *ANY* state on one application or use several application choosing on each application each individual state that nominates your profession. Create EOIs based on the number of states nominating your occupations. For example, if ACT and NSW are nominating your occupation, create two separate EOI. Only tick one state per EOI. You can always go back to modify any EOI and you can also use same email to create multiple EOIs. |

iamMoshood: Thanks for your assistance with the reference letter.
I'm nominating for Construction Project Manager, Engineering Manager or Civil Engineer. I'm a graduate of Civil Engineering, FUTO. I really don't know which would be easier.
Please how does pension statement look? Is it easier and cheaper to obtain than tax clearance certificate? Where do I get it? I'm asking because regularising my tax status for the 9 years I've worked will take almost N500k. I can't bear that. Your experience, the assessing body's requirements and possibility of getting a state nomination will determine which occupation to nominate. For EA, if you are nominating Engineering manager or Civil engineer - your experience must prove this occupation with reference letter and CDR. Also, you will need to provide either pension or tax statement - this is a compulsory requirement with EA otherwise only the years with the required documents will be approved. For CPM with Vetassess, you only need reference letter and payslips (amongst other documents). However, your job descriptions must be aligned as a CPM and you must be able to show your managerial position with your company's organisational chart/organogram (this is a compulsory requirement for managerial occupations with Vetassess). Then you will still need the pension or tax statement for visa application cos DHA will very well ask for it or most likely conduct physical verification. Pension statement is just like a bank statement showing the pension remitted by your organisation and frequency of payment. It's to be paid by your employer as well as employee. You may speak with your company's finance team on it. |

sigmapompe: Hello fam. Pls just need a clarification on this. I just got positive assessment for poultry farmer from vetasses, so I plan applying for Eoi for Tas.491.as single. Now my question is, I planned getting married before the end of the year, is it possible to add my spouse in visa application? Congratulations on your positive assessment. Yes, for 491, it's possible to add your spouse before you pay for your visa application. You can't add after you have applied (i.e. made payment). However you spouse can apply for 491 Subsequent Entrant visa after you have landed and join you when the subsequent entrant visa is granted. So you have two options: Get married before you apply for your visa or go with Subsequent entrant visa after you land. |

No I did not but I have a copy of the email trail. How do you advise I rectify this please? Jeez..this should have been submitted to give credence to why you used a stat declaration. The information on ACS website is not clear to me if it's a review or an appeal. It's best you send an email to ACS explaining the issue and asking which of the options to go for. Whether it is appeal or review, you should submit every proofs, all scanned in PDF format and attach the printed email and the statutory declaration. |

Bodacious1: Hello people,
I received the results of my ACS assessment this morning.
My first employment was assessed as suitable for all the years I worked there; however my second (and current) employment was deemed not assessable (reason - "due to insufficient documentation"). I have worked at my current job for almost seven years so I find this quite worrisome.
More so, I submitted the same kind of documentation (payslips, pension statements and bank account statements) for both employments. The only difference is I submitted a reference letter (written by HR on company letter head etc) for my first job, while I had to submit an affidavit for my current job because my employer explicitly informed me that they do not issue skills attestation letters.
What do you advise I do? Request a review or appeal from the ACS?
Also, please how many points does this educational qualification amount to: AQF Bachelor Degree with a Major in computing
In the meantime, I plan to first contact them via email regarding this result.
Thank you. Did you submit/attach an email confirmation from your office stating it does not issue such letter? AQF Bachelor degree is 15 points. |

I will have to use my current company since there's no other option, however I'll supply my supervisor's contact and hope they'll contact him directly.
2. I still have my employment letter. Please I'll like to get a sample of a reference letter; I don't even know who it is addressed to. How do I get a payslip? So I should go and pay tax for the entire 9 years I've been working? That would be outrageous. Good. Just ensure you read your assessing body's requirements carefully. The addressee is determined by the assessing body For sample of reference letter, see the next post. Which occupation are you nominating? It's up to you to pay tax or lose the years (depends on the assessing body) or a physical verification will be conducted. If you have pension statement, then that could work in stead of the tax statement. |
