You don't have qualification to assess for any of these occupations. Your best bet is to go to a university for your Bachelors degree in Australia

You need to always read well and digest before commenting not just trying to find faults.
Normally I don’t dwell much on stuffs like this but I identified your type as one who doesn’t give out information when people required one even though you claimed to be well informed but always feed on others comments to look for a glitch without digesting. I’m off on this.

Happy new year in advance to you brother, I would still like to link up and enjoy the new year celebration with you. All bills on you smiley
Thanks for the heads up, I'll make amends if your perception of correcting a misguided info is your term for finding fault.

I'm not that informed on student visa matters which is why I don't comment here. I only visit the thread once in a while but that doesn't mean I don't understand the PR process for Australia.

Sadly, I don't live in Sydney.

Do have a lovely year ahead.

Apologies for not being clear.

The experience is for 3 years after MSC. I have all the documents listed on the vetessass site for self employment. Contracts, tax clearances, bank statements, lawyer's statements, incorporation docs, everything.

Thanks for your patience
Glad you have it locked down. You can submit both BSc and MSC to Vetassess (it's same point for both degrees).

When lodging EOI, you can then include PhD and claim point for it but not for Vetassess assessment.

Has anyone reviewed your Reference letter to align to CPM duties?

CPM (based on your profile) is only open in NT for 491 (ACT, TAS and NSW are off the possible nomination list due to their requirements). Please strive to get 20 points in English so you can have a shot at NSW 190.

I am a graduate of mechanical engineering with 7 years on-the-job experience as a mechanical quality control inspector in the oil and gas construction industry. By next year I’d be 31years old. From the points table I hope to achieve 75points which is the requirement for ITA provided I can get a positive assessment from EA for 189. What are my chances like and what other category can I apply for?
Currently, only TAS and NT are nominating it for 491. Getting nomination from ACT is mostly not achievable due to their matrix system except you studied in ACT.

Please note that EA does not specify the type of skilled migration visa to apply for on your assessment outcome letter. When you have a positive assessment from EA approving all your years of experience, you can apply to any of these states for 491 but for 189, you will surely need more than 75 points.

Have you submitted your application to EA already?

2. I don’t comment based on them say. I do red lots of posts here but only take my time on the one I’ve experienced.
I can give you the agent organization name. In fact if you the time luxury, you can message me to organize a visit then walk you down to their office in Parramatta smiley
By the way, I would appreciate a linkup. My IELTS academics expired in May, 2019. So if I can still use it for PR as you claimed I won’t mind coming to your place if you’re in Sydney.
Lol... Sadly, you commented based on 'dem say' because your statement about Ielts Academic not suitable for PR is invalid and 'dem say'.

I'd advise you always refer to Immi website and be totally sure before being assertive on a public forum. It will also do you good to always verify some information provided by your agent.

If your IELTS has passed the 3 years validity, then you can't use it anymore; you would have to write another test.

Best of luck

Hi all,

I did a training in COMPUTER HARDWARE (COMPTIA A+) in IIHT Lagos and got a certificate... I have two years experience.

Pls, do I have a chance in Australia PR?

CC: Alphadoor

Bellong et al
Not sure that certificate is comparable to Certificate IV and above for Hardware technician assessment.

You also don't have 3 years experience to assess with TRA.

Possibility of PR is next to zero. Student route is a possible option.

Good day to you. Please I’m sort of confused here! I thought for the 189 visa category one needed to score from 65 points? But here you mentioned from 90.
65 is the benchmark for ITA for all visa subclass (189, 190 & 491) but since April 2019, points for 189 has increased to about 90. The least point that got 189 ITA in December had 90 points. There were 95 points (internal auditors and few IT roles) and 100 (accountants).

The other options are state nomination visa (190/491) but with several conditions and requirements per state.

Thanks for the clarification. Point noted. I plan to claim 3 years of self employment (as that's what I have extensive documentation to prove).

May I ask why I should forgo the PHD, I'm not contesting your advice, just trying to understand it more.

I forgot to add that I am also a lecturer at a Federal university here in Nigeria. Been lecturing for almost 2yrs though.
Your response did not address my question. I would need the years to be able to give an informed decision.

3 years of self employment----was it after MSc or BSc because Vetassess will still deduct at least 1 year which means your experience point is zero.

Which documents are you uploading to prove the self employment?

Phd was awarded in 2019. For Vetassess assessment, you must have at least 1 year post qualification experience else the assessment will be negative. So if you submit the Phd awarded in 2019, that's means you don't have 1 year post qualification experience to be eligible for assessment in the first place..

You can't use lecturing role to apply as a CPM; fortunately, you also have additional option to assess as a University lecturer if you have the funds (still zero point for experience after deduction of 1 year by Vetassess).

BSc 2008 Nigerian degree
MSC 2011 Uk degree
PhD 2019 UK degree
PhD is out of it. You can include that when lodging EOI but must not be stated in your application to Vetassess.

How many years of employment are you claiming or better still, when did you start working? this is to confirm the particular degree to be submitted to Vetassess to avoid losing employment points.

There is no occupation as mineral processing engineering.

You should go through the 3 occupation lists to check out the occupation(s) you can nominate.
From your mobile phone,

Visit www.anzscosearch.com
Click the Hamburger sign and select 'List'
Go through the 3 lists MLTSSL, STSOL and ROL
Click any of the occupations that best relate to what you do.
When you click the occupation, scroll down to 'Anzsco code' and scroll to 'Tasks'
Check if the tasks relate to the occupation you have selected.
Revert here with occupation(s) you deem relate to what you do and we will take it up from there

Good morning,

Thank you for all the information. I have been reading through from Part 1 and I have found it very helpful. There's just a little clarification that I am looking for.

I have a B.Eng in Civil Engineering, a M.SC in Project Mgt (specialization in Construction) and a PHD in Construction Management and Economics. I recently began the Australian PR process and I am about to pay for the Vetessass evaluation. What I need to confirm is this: do i need to forward transcripts of all my credentials or just the PHD?

Thanks a lot.
Can you list the years you were awarded each of the degrees?

General is 3years while Academics is 2years. Also you can’t use IELTS Academics for PR, it have to be General.
Live Scenario: My IELTS Academics expired in May, 2019 and I plan to change my school. The school I’m changing to required I write another one.
I tried to explore the PR option but was required to write the IELTS General or PTE as IELTS Academics can’t be used.
Note: You can use PTE Academics for both studies and PR but for IELTS, No.
Please quote the link you copied the image from.

Who required you to write IELTS Academic....your assessing body, agent or DHA?

As fas as I know, IELTS Academic can be used for PR and valid for 3 years.

Even PTE is PTE-A (the A stands for Academic).

But it seems all the states are demanding for mandatory 5yrs experience for 491 for offshore applicants and a job offer by an Australia employer. Are those not the requirements for offshore applicants for 491? Correct me if I am wrong.

What of persons that do not have up to that years of experience. How will they navigate this?
Only NSW 491 demands 5 years experience for all occupations in stream 2 list.
VIC 491 requires job offer for all occupations on their list.
Other states have specific requirements relating to the respective occupation such as minimum of 75 or 85 points, 3 years experience, specific English result etc.
Some occupations in NT also require job offer too.

Some occupations are having it good while some like Accounting, Engineering and ICT are not getting offshore nominations.

for which class of visa?will my bachelor of engineering degree in chemical Engineering get a positive assessment for chemist or chemistry technician?
190 and 491 should be available depending on the states. Most states are not as cheerful with 190 as they used to be, so bear that in mind.

Yes, your BEng should get you a positive assessment for any of the two occupations however, it solely depends on your job descriptions. If they are not well aligned to any of these two occupations, the outcome may not be positive.

So here is my landing gist

Long Post Alert

The beginning
I got my grant on 31st of October and resigned the following morning giving a month's notice to my employer. Getting the required items needed for the journey ahead amidst  handing over tasks and projects at work was hectic but I survived.
Friday 29th was my last day at work. It started with a small get-together send forth party at the office then partee after partee at a sea-side bar in Victoria Island. I woke up on  Saturday visiting few places I needed to touch down at before leaving. On Sunday morning, I was on my way to my parent's base to say my farewell and pick up some local recipes and items. I was out of the base on Tuesday and had 2 days left to complete the packing before I finally leave on Friday.

On Wednesday, malaria came knocking but I just had to kill it totally since it's gonna be my last malaria. So I finished the 'thing' and on Friday, 6th December, I was awake preparing to start a new journey of a new beginning.

Your departure experience from Nigerian Airport?
My flight was scheduled for 1pm Nigerian time. I left the house 9:50am and got to the airport at 10:20am. Got to Emirate stand and my bags were weighed. Alas! Everything was 69kg (40kg + 22kg + 7kg) when I was only entitled to 53kg (23kg x 23kg x 7kg). The lady had already started calculating extra luggage allowance. I look the lady.. Madam calm down, I need help o. Na so she calm down. I sha ended up paying for extra luggage allowance which I had initially planned for.

I proceeded to get my boarding pass and went back to bid my sister and friend farewell. I thereafter moved to a restaurant to have breakfast. At this time, boarding had started. I proceeded to the boarding session and after clearance from 2 Immigration officers, I was referred to another one. He began with series of questions about the trip, final destination, the visa process. He also asked I show him my PTA, I told him I wasn't going for a visit. He asked for BTA, I told him I had money in my account and I don't have to get BTA or PTA for this trip. The baba sha stood his ground and I stood mine too. When I realised this man was going to waste my time, I just told him I will go and get the BTA since I have more than enough in my account. I had moved a bit when he called me back and said I can proceed. I wasn't even in the mood to say thank you. This was when I realised I hadn't checked the time cos I was just 15 minutes to the boarding closure and I hadn't even gone past the checks before boarding. I did this in few minutes and was in the plane. Window seat.. You know. (I had set alarm to book the seats 48 hours prior to the flight time).

* Stopover experience? When you landed at the airport?
Dubai.... In-flight entertainment and the food were awesome for the 7 hours journey. The only constant thing was my request for water. I guess I was dehydrated due to the malaria fever. I watched 2 movies and listened to the Joyous celebration album...fantastic album and slept for an hour too.

Landed in Dubai and walked for about 25 minutes to my boarding gate. (I didn't know it was that far, I would have taken a cart). After relaxing for about an hour, boarding started. This time, the flight was a freaking long 12 hours but I slept for over 6 hours while I continued listening to the Joyous celebration album

* What are the immigration rules to follow?
Just be confident when being asked questions. Declare food and money in your declaration card.
My locust beans was the only item collected and thrashed right in front of me at Adelaide airport. The overzealous officer just saw 'locust beans' and said 'no form of beans is allowed'. I should have just written iru instead of locust beans. Please use 'irú' or 'seasoning' instead of locust beans on your packaging.
My groundnut and other items were allowed.

* How did you carry all that cash with you?
All my money was in my naira account. Although I had opened a Commonwealth bank account when I got my grant, I used my Naira Mastercard for all my transactions in Adelaide till I got my Comm debit card. I made naira transfer to one of the seniors here and got AUD transferred to my Comm account.

* Can you open bank account while still in Naija?
Yes, I did open with Commonwealth bank

* Which State/suburb did you settle in and why?
SA - Adelaide cos I was nominated by the state.

* Driving in Australia? How long can you use your Naija driving license before you get Aussie license?
For 489, you can use Nigeria driver's license for your entire stay, it's only wise to get the Australian driver license for jobs, convenience etc. I haven't driven since I got here, been using my Metrocard.

* Where you live
I got a place before leaving Nigeria so it made my settling in easier. Got it through a friend of mine who was visiting a friend of his and realised someone was moving out. He spoke to the landlady on my behalf and she was willing to wait 1 week before my arrival. After I had a chat with the landlady, she agreed to rent the apartment to me. That's how I moved in the following day after my arrival.

* Are there Nigerian food/restaurants etc? Are they very expensive?
During my waka in the CBD one day, I got a promo ticket for Uber eats.(they were just sharing the tickets that day in the CBD). So I ordered for some jollof rice and chicken from an African restaurant with the Uber Eats promo card. Actual cost was A$22 but I paid A$7. I ate it thrice cos it was too much to finish at once

I am a Dispute Resolution and Customer Experience Analyst currently looking for job. Although, I have been applying for jobs even before I got here, I hope to get one as soon as the holiday is over.

C'est fini

Please don't mind my grammatical errors

Your occupation does not seem to tally with what you studied per se. For TRA, ICT Support may not fly due to the degree and less than 3 years experience, same for ACS for network engineer based on your degree.

The options you have:

1. assess your qualification only as an Electronics or electric engineer with EA.
2. Go through the 3 occupation lists on www.anzscosearch.com and look for TRA occupations you can assess for while waiting for d 3 years experience to be complete
