Hi John, update on this;

I couldn’t eventually travelled to the US as I earlier indicated due to health reason. Seems I’ll need to be applying to get a new F1 visa if I want to be going by Fall. But the issue my SEVIS wasn’t terminated due to “authorised early withdrawal”, it was rather terminated due to “Transfer -No show “ cuz I couldn’t check in since I didn’t even travel. I don’t exactly know what this does to my immigration record, but I feel it’s not feeling good. How do we go about this? Won’t embassy frown at something like this even if I decide to appear for a new F1 visa in the future.

Note: the school has defffer my admission and funding to Fall, and will issue me a new i20

Assume your sister is on an F1 visa. The move to medical school is possible but difficult. Medical schools here prioritize US citizens and permanent residents so you will need to go above and beyond on the MCAT. Even at that, you may only get put on a temp list. My advice, don’t worry about the difficulty, focus on killing your undergrad and MCAT.

Here’s the question;

I recently came to Nigeria from the United States to renew my F1 Visa. The visa was renewed on December 1st and I graduated from my Masters program from my old school on December 15th. I was supposed to be resuming in Spring 2024 to a new school that already issued me an i20 for my PhD. However, I can’t travel out of Nigeria at this time to resume my study due to health reasons which will be resolved by January. By that time, I can no longer travel and the i20 will be cancelled as a result.

I have already made steps to defer my admission in the new school so that I can attend by Fall. The question I have is that can I still use my renewed F1 visa to enter the United States with a new i20 given to me by this particular school or another school entirely? Or I’ll need to apply for a new visa using i20 from a new school or from the school that I’ve already transferred my SEVIS into?

Updated: On second thoughts, i re-read your post in more detail and i have a couple of questions. You indicated that you came to renew your F1 visa. This visa was renewed on Dec 1, but you did not graduate until Dec 15. That suggests to me your visa was renewed based on the I20 for the school where you graduated with a masters degree.

You then said that you were to resume in spring to a NEW school (not the school from which you recently graduated?) that has issued you an I20.

If the above is true, then no, you cannot travel using the renewed I20 because it is tied to the school where you recently graduated from. You will need a new visa for the NEW school that issued you an I20, or any other school.

Now i want to address the fraudulent video you posted. 0:39 says Palestinians built roads and railroads… this is misleading. Prior to 1948, the term “Palestinians” mostly referred to Jews. You can see this in the passport of the British mandate of Palestine at the time. The back of the passport clearly states “land of Israel” in Hebrew. Another example, today’s “Jerusalem Post” started as “Palestinian Post” in 1932. It changed name in 1948. So for the unsuspecting, when you see the term “Palestinian” prior to 1948, it does NOT mean Arabs as we know it today. So here goes:

1) The railroad implied in that video is the Jerusalem-Jaffa railroad built by a Jew… Yosef Navon in the 1890s. The Lumiere brothers photograph the railroad in the first moving video of the British mandate of Palestine in 1896.

2) The 1931 world’s almanac makes an interesting note - it reports 600 miles of new roads, 200 schools built and over 150 thriving industries in Palestine. It notes that this was all accomplished with an investment of 1.2m pounds, 92% of which came from Jews! So yes, the video talks about “Palestinian” roads, but hides the truth behind who built them.

3) 0:42-0:44… the video claims British occupation of Palestine loomed large. This attempts to give the false impression that the British colonized an existing country/peoples. The truth is that the British gained control of Palestine after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1917/18. Palestine has NEVER existed as an independent entity.

4a) 0:54 claims the British sought to establish a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. This is true, but is built on the premise that this land was indigenous to Arabs. This is false… tomorrow, we celebrate the birth of the world’s most famous Jew, born in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago… on the very land Arabs now claim to be ancestral to them? Such dishonest double speak is laughable.

4b) 1:01, the video makes the claim that “many Jews migrated to the region after 1933…” This is true… however it leaves out yawning gaps in facts. First, it avoids mentioning the large Arab migration to Palestine at the same period. Second, it leads the viewer to believe Jewish presence in the land was relatively recent. This is false. Tel Aviv, the thriving capital of Israel today was built by Jews on desert land in 1909…

4c) 1:15, the video cuts to the 1947 plan to divide Palestine into 2 independent states for Arabs and Jews. This is partially true, but as with much of the Arab narrative, it is misleading… the British mandate of Palestine from 1918 included the areas of Gaza, modern day Israel, Judea/Samaria (renamed the West Bank after Jordan captured it in 1948) and modern day Jordan. Modern day Jordan, which is 75% of the British mandate, was carved out and given to the Hashemite royal family from Saudi Arabia (as a gift for their support during the war to defeat the Ottomans) in 1922. 95% of Jordanians are Palestinian Arabs!

In other words, the British mandate was divided into 3 - 2 independent states for Arabs (Jordan = 75% and Gaza/Judea/Samaria ~12.5%) and 1 Jewish independent state (Israel ~ 12.5%). Arabs REFUSED. The Arab league invaded Israel in 1948, and lost… too bad.

As for Ashkelon… couple of things to note. This coastal city is over 3000 years old and is mentioned in several historical texts and even the Bible (Joshua 13:3 and Judges 1:18 are the part of the recorded evidence indicating Jewish conquest of the land). Ashkelon comes from the Semitic word for “weight” or “shekel”… which as you know, has always remained the Hebrew currency, till date. The Encyclopedia entry for Ashkelon does an excellent job on the historical evidence for the population of the city. Several letters from 1110 AD indicate the presence of a strong Jewish community. A letter from the 1150s describes the population of Ashkelon as 200 Jews and 300 samaritans. The Jewish presence in Ashkelon diminished greatly after the invasion of the Ottomans.

The Arab town of al-migdal Wikipedia mentions is NOT Ashkelon, rather it is a town founded near the ancient ruins of Ashkelon. Important to get facts right.

I have a bachelor in pharmacy here in Nigeria, obtained 2023.
Pharmacy students in Nigeria undergo training in PharmaCognosy ( field of pharmacy that studies use of medicinal plants in healing and also understudies manufacture and use of chemicals to kill weed encroaching in medicinal plants farm. This is called herbicide use study).

I happen to gain 100% scholarship admission and Graduate assistantship (paid stipends) in soil and plant science through rigorous interviews. The masters in soil and plant science has a specifics in weed science).

I’m finding it hard to convince the visa officer that masters in soil and plant science with emphasis on weed and herbicide science, is actually related to pharmacy. Can that sale ? That I want to become an agroscientist and so a graduate masters in soil and plant science will position me well to become an expat in that field? And if they ask, so why didn’t you obtain an agriculture bachelors ? I want to answer simply because i want to focus on chemical and medicinal aspect of agroscience. Is that convincing?

Hearing a masters in soil and plant science, and looking that I have a bachelor degree in pharmacy seems off for a stranger. And they never have the patience to listen to what you have to say, nor do they want to be convinced by you at times. Once it’s just off to them, every other thing you’re saying is pouring water on stone.

Actually, I prefer this field because as much as chemistry and pharmacology masters are the area of interests for pharmacy graduates, I don’t want to wear lab coat to conduct wet lab researches and sit in labs all day like chemistry and pharmacology masters do, I prefer field work and really enjoyed PharmaCognocy (area of pharmacy related to plants).. i really enjoyed that in my university and came out as best graduating student in PharmaCognosy department, faculty of pharmacy.


Doing wet lab research don tire me. Visa officer might consider an agriculture graduate to be more qualified and will want to start asking what will this degree do for you as a pharmacist? Going for masters in soil and plant science with emphasis in weed science as a pharmacist? (Remember USA are into doctor of pharmacy and not bachelor of pharmacy so their own pharmacy degree has a hospital/clinical focus unlike ours that is still multi-disciplinary).


That question is a tough nut for me to crack, I have a way of answering it but I am discouraged because of how non-understanding they will become once they raise eyebrows about how your masters will impact on your undergraduate or the link.

I just need words of encouragement or less? Because these visa officers can be unreasonable? Throwing these large amounts o money around in name of visa interview hoooing, ds-160 for something that looks tricky and discouraging is…. i dunno, off? For a young graduate?

You're having a problem because even you realize this is an implausible explanation. Pharmacy (humans) to soil science (non-humans) is a 180-degree pivot. It has zero to do with the VOs. You would have been better off going for a masters program in pharmacology.

I watched the short video and [b]she's well-spoken [/b]with a sonorous voice which is good for public speaking. I like the fact that Ifeoluwa (Cuppy) is beginning to show some self-awareness in that video.

She's not. She had to almost read the short speech from prepared notes, there wasn't a very coherent train of thought, just throwing out anecdotes without tying it to anything other than "yeah i failed... and its ok".

She said absolutely nothing of substance... she's an example of failing up... only able to speak to such audience, not because of what she has achieved, but because of who her father is.

You can find conference via Google and no one will then be foolish enough to tell the VO that i found it on Google.

That aside ... On the day of anyone's Interview, the VOs usually gaze and go through your opened DS 160 in front of him or her and any time he or she finds anything unusual ...he or she usually opens a new page besides the opened DS 160 and quickly check such (name of sch, company , bank etc ) via GOOGLE ..

So tell me , is finding conference via Google a sin ? Or straight way to visa denial ? Or tell me the VO doesn't use Google to cross check facts during visa interview ?

It's fraud... and thus a sin. You found the "conference" as a means to immigrate, not for a legitimate purpose. Folks like you are why legitimate visa seekers with genuine conferences have a difficult time.
