@ty4real,

Two of my oyibo colleagues at the Immigration got married to each other last year and were getting dissapointed that the caterers were late in bringing in the food for the visitors during the wedding reception. Next door to the wedding reception another wedding just finshed so the caterers there decided to lend their staff to my colleagues wedding reception.

To everyone's dismay when it was time to serve grub none of the catering staff were anywhere to be found.It was later discovered that outside the venue the wedding photographer was taking group pictures and because both married couple were Immigration staff the Photographer shouted "Immigration" to the crowd in order to indicate that all Immigration staff should come and join the couple for the picture. At the sound of the word "Immigration" the Asian staff and some few Black folk just dissappeared into thin air.It was quite funny.

cool ANOTHER SURVIVAL TIP
Know your environment.If you know that you are an overstayer becareful where you step your feet. Assess every place you go to, evaluate your enemy-the Immigration Officer (or Police ).Ask yourself will the Immigration/Police likely turn up if I am here.

One of my stubborn Tennants (he was a Nigerian of course) who refused to quit my property was picked up by the Police during a routine check as he was driving his girlfriends car at night back from a Club. He had no driving licence, and he had no stay. I told him he was an overstayer but he kept on posing as if he had a Student visa. The Police picked him up, took his picture, fingerprints and DNA sample for their database, sent him to court and he should be on his way back to Owerri without any right to apply for a UK visa for the next 10 years, leaving his gullible Zimbabwean girlfriend and baby behind.
That was again Hilarious!buahahahaha grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin!

Overstayers please refrain from doing lau lau!Na their noise dey pass reacgh person wey get legal stay sef!I tire grin grin grin grin

@Paribus!
HOnestly,I would advice you not to put the employment details in your application,if the bank balance has been consistent and you have evidence of the fact that you just finished from school or something and since you said they are asking for your NI card I think you are good to go!

LondonCool:
Off Topic;

I know lots of Nigerian Pastors of flambouyant churches who are on Student visa's and have been renewing it periodically for the past 9 years.

A Pastors wife did an arranged marriage HERE in UK before re-marrying her Husband again to enable him get his stay.

I went to one church on a New Year's Eve in 2002 and the Pastor was giving a new years Prophecy , " All of you without STAY, God will bring out your applications in the Home Office and give you STAY". Everyone shouted "Amen".Then he said that " God should BLIND the eyes of all the Home Office staff in charge of granting permission to stay in the country". I just strolled out jeje, because the prayer-point was quite reckless-especially as I was working there by then.

@paribus

If it aint broken,don't fix it, (so they say). Dont send what hasnt been asked for, whatever additional information needed from you would be requested from you during the course of your application.
For real I had a good laugh this evening,do you know a friend was still tellin me about a church he went to and they were praying that God should not mak the home office pick on their members!and I wondered why member they do illegal runs grin grin grin grin grin grin

It's a safer option for Nigerians.
I hate the stories i hear about my brothers having to go through hell in Croydon.
Some people were sent back home to renew their visas, some went to Nigeria and never managed to come back and all other fuckeries.
I was told work permit holders would have to go back to Nigeria to renew(mandatory) by October.
Isn't that stressful?? angry

I go to GLORY HOUSE every sunday at Canning town.
It's like a Naija reunion out there.
I see more than 50 old faces every week. . . . .
It's scary. grin

@LondonCool

Very informative thread you have here.  Your opinion is appreciated on this situation.

I have been working part-time (16 hours/2 days per week/8 hours per day/thurs and friday) with an IT company since february. The position is a job share with another full time person who have to go part time after her maternity leave. I get paid 12k p.a (which comes to 1k monthly) working 2 days a week - the wages was pro rated from the salary of the original employee which was about 31k p.a. Initially when I took the job I was concerned that when the time to apply for the post study work scheme comes, Home Office might miscontrue my wages/tax paid as evidence of working beyond 20hours per week. i raised this issue with the company and they have no problem with issuing me with a cover letter to indicate that I work part-time (my fixed-term employment contract already states this). I called the home office sometimes in march to clarify this and the lady I spoke with indicated that the amount of salary is not necessarily assumed to be commensurate with the violation/observation of the 20-hour rule. I made a post of my situation on another forum here being overtly concerned about this situation then.

Now I'm just about handing in my dissertation and the time is drawing near to apply for the post study work scheme. I have been studying the form and on the list of documentation required to be submitted alongside the application, no payslip or employment information is required. Now my thinking is if on the basis of my NI number alone (which is required on the form), Home Office have to contact Inland Revenue, won't the amount of tax I've paid monthly (about 170/month taking net pay of 830) indicate that I'm working more than 20hours a week when in reality I'm not. I presume you would have some insight into how best to handle this situation.  Your opinion highly appreciated.

Regards
Abeg link me up with this kind of a job for now as a student,And I wont worry about home office till I get my indefinite leave grin grin grin

Cheese n Rice!!!!!

The best advice for any Nigerian coming to the UK these days is to arrange a marriage!!!
Extending visas these days is like the national lottery. . . . . . These people don't want Nigerians in their mix and would bring up the slightest detail to reject applications.
The best way to circumvent them is to get married provided u are not on a visitor's visa. wink wink wink wink
Good luck.
PLease elucidate further ohhh!I hope it is the same uk we are talking about even the marriage thingy is no more working ohhh,with all their requirements,going back to NIgeria t do the marriage your best choice is come int the uk legally all the rest will align with time and you see this akatas eyes don open now ohhhh!
Back to the discussion,
Please dont accept an emergency package that you are not sure of the content from any one not only for uk but for any country,innocent people have found themselevs in shits all because they were been nice cool cool cool

@ty4real,

ALWAYS type a letter in your correspondence with the Home Office (at all times), and make sure the letter is sent by RECORDED DELIVERY-and keep your proof of delivery.If possible get a print-out of the Royal Mail page that has tracked your letter as being delivered and file it away. It could be your life saver one day.
Is it that serious? shocked shocked shocked shocked!Just kidding,the advice well noted and immediate action is been carried out on it.Thanks smiley smiley smiley

@Poster!
I personally dont think it has anything to do with your accent,if you are working in central LOndon it is even much more easier cause you see a lot of different people from different part of the world speaking their accent in the various offices.INfact I worked in an office where a few AFrican are and you need to see them tal pidgin at times and even some of the britons understand them but this is done during break time ohhhhh!
Just be yourself and be the best in what you do!Most britons dont even know when to use present,past and continuous tense at times and I wonder what the heck about the accent! grin grin grin grin

@ty4real,

Thanks for your positive comments (I am trying reach your number of posts).
Write a letter to the Home Office (Managed Migration section), or get a Solicitor to do it for you and inform them of the change in circumstances. They will acknowledge it, then you keep the reply for future reference.
Thank you for the response,I will write them myself,I am also a solicitor in my right grin grin grin grin grin!Guess I can send an email or do I have to do a paper stuff?

For the students,try to move with people who are focused and know what they are here to do in the first place!so many distractions in London and Border and Immigration control will be the ultimate disciplinarian by the time you want to extend the visa!I have seen so many cases of people who are caught up with the make pounds syndrome and forgetting their studies grin grin grin grin grin
