Its suprising that up till now people still don't understand this 'living abroad' thing. The last time i was at home, i lost my luggage and had to go back to check at Airfrance office, there was this gentle guy who was sitting majestically on his table with computer and phone in front of him and was talking to someone on the phone to help him tell someone to get him a drink. This guy said to me 'aunty they said that Dublin is the in thing now' and that he wants to just go and leave there at all cost, i look at him and took my time to explain to him how it works, at the end of my sermon i realised i only wasted my time as this guy told me he doesnt mind whatever the situation will be.

[b]While i was studying in UK, i discovered i could make some correct bucks by just buying jewellery online from US, and resell to high street shops in U[/b]K. My profit was always x2 that is after shipping, clearance etc. So just cause everyone is doing 5pound20job does not mean you have to join them.

It has nothing to do with the strenght of the currency.

I think its because of "home-away-from-home". As at 1999, over 1 million Nigerians live in UK.

And with just 6 hours flight, it was even closer to home than South africa.

However I was given N[b]O RECOURSE TO PUBLIC FUND[/b] (that one no wahala) but the other one that says WORK (and other changes) MUST BE AUTHORISE.(Na that one i know undastand because i go like do some small small work.

Yes, things are really difficult these days. This finger printing thing is for real oh. One of my egbons just got 'found' out - thanks to it. I'll give you the full gist later. Honestly, i pity those with expired visas in UK. Its really really hard for them now. Its tough for them in UK. Coming back to Nigeria and then seeking entry clearance back to UK is getting increasingly difficult.

Against all odds and the possible criticism and mockery that this post might attract, let me join those who seek advice on their friends' situations or is it their own situations?
Now, a "friend of mine" has been denied a legal status to stay in Ireland after a four year long battle. . , the ministry of justice claimed they are not satisfied that his story does not have enough evidence to verify his claims. he did applied to be allowed to remain in the country on humanitarian ground which has also been called to a halt. Last week, he received an immigration letter ordering him to leave the country volunterily or face deportation.
My question now is, which of these two options is better, to buy his own ticket and leave on his own, or to be deported?
I heard that in either ways, whether one is deported or he voluntarily leaves a country after failed attempts to legalisation, the nigerian immigration arrests the person on arrival and he is detained until he pays a fine or is it a bribe. How true is this?
Also, what are the measures one has to take to avoid severe punishments by the nigerian authorities, can someone please give advice? Any advice would be appreciated even advice from enemies are welcomed.

GREAT NAIRALANDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!I won my uk visa appeal in feb. 2008 and i hope to start school (Msc in I.T with business)in september 2008,i got an email notifying me and telling me i could call at the embassy during weekdays and that my visa will b ready 4 collection within 5 working days;
please does any one know the likely questions they will ask? AND ow much minimum balance should be in my sponsors bank statement.
also i intend to change school from east london university in central london to university of strathclyde which is in scotland .I ave unconditional offer letter in both schools now ,but the problem is as at june last year when i applied it was east london university offer letter i took to the embassy but ave now changed my mind to university of strathclyde which is in scotland.Do i go to the embassy with unconditional offer letter of east london university then if i get there i proceed to Scotland .I ope this will not b a problem.Please I NEED ADVCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
