I don't gamble and I don't recommend it but then, having had knowledge of it in the past, I think the main reason why most Nigerians lose in it, is because of greediness. That is the weakness of every punter, and that's the psychological aspect most betting providers use in making profit.

Wanting to win N49,000,000 with N100? Not that it doesn't happen once in a while but that's not playing by the rules.
There are big punters around the world, Club managers, rich fans, rich Arab guys etc. They know the rules, they play by the rules and they cash out.

It's a general myth amongst amateur punters which is very wrong. Virtual doesn't manipulate, the results are always fixed but it's very unpredictable, and unrealistic. That's why people lose.

Many years ago, around 6yrs ago or more, there used to be one Nigerian guy who calls himself Nosa and another one who calls himself baba Sampat or so.
Nosa was into virtuals and he won millions with virtuals, he had a blog then and had free and premium ebooks on virtual games.
Sampat, I think is a scammer who pretends to be spiritualist who uses supernatural powers to get result of games which he sold to people on Facebook.
Both were Nairalanders those days, Nairaland being different then from what it is now, I always had the opportunity of witnessing their long hot threads where they fought, dissed and exposed themselves.
Nosa taught people arbitrage betting etc. And he exposed everything behind Virtuals on different betting sites. That's when you realize there's no manipulation in virtuals like most believe.
Nosa was a scammer as well.

People of God, must one use exchangers when receiving payment via btc or i can just use my btc wallet address?
It's not compulsory; I have never used such. I prefer a mainstream wallet. There are several of such. Simply search online and read reviews.

I use GreenAddress and I have not had serious issues in 3-4 years of use.

You can sell to exchangers from your wallet or keep if you'd like to speculate.

PS: The main downside to a non-exchange wallet is that you'd still need to pay transfer fee when sending money from there to an exchanger.

As long as they are guilty, then this punishment is good cool

Armed robbery attracts death penalty in the laws of our land.if you want to go into robbery and you don't want the death penalty, then find a country that condoles armed robbery and establish your 'hustles' there.
Way worse than embezzlement as seen in the country? I see. Little wonder then that dem politicians go practically scot-free after stealing billions! undecided

PS: I do not and will never support armed robbery or even theft. But punishment should be commensurate to the degree of crime. Corruption kills way more people I dare say.

Lol. I just saw this thread. I saw someone saying if he knows anyone that feeds his children with forex. I laugh

Forex traders don't have to brag or talk about the amount they make cause na Nigeria we dey criminals everywhere including here on nairaland But if you want to see forex traders flaunt money then go to IG and look at the whites.
Not just money but cars Lamborghini is nothing naw.

People don't trust forex cause its all about risk

I also saw someone who said banks trade forex and yes I can attest to that I am a forex trader my friend trades for a bank big bank can't mention the name him and other traders, guess what your money which you save in the bank is what they are trading and risking

Lol. Let me ask you a question for those of you doubting forex if you were rich enough I know that at a point your bank must have begged you to leave your money in the bank for sometime promising you some rewards

Why do you think they do that. It's because they want to trade with your money and they need to be sure you won't request for it anytime soon.

You better wise up

You will keep being broke you know why cause you see every opportunity as scam

This thread was created 2019. 2019 has passed and your still broke. Guess what 2020 will pass and you will still be broke better change your mindset today.

Peace.

congratulations to the recent sellers....

8 months in domaining, no sales yet but still learning and hoping sales will come soon.

#NeverGiveUp
Yeah, never give up. I didn't sell $1 in domain during my first year. GoDaddy coupons were many then - all wasted. I thought it was a scam and I ran away. cheesy

I had to come back about a year later after seeing Chibenze, 2sexynet and co reporting sales. Na so I restarted learning - I think it was then I learned about GEO domains and registered my firsts.

Bro, just keep learning and pray for favour. That's what I'm still trying to do. I'm not where I want to be, but I have made some progress nonetheless.

The FPL folks seriously got this one wrong! What's the sense in determining winners of H2H leagues with a coin toss while no games were played? That's crazy. They are turning this thing into a casino game of sorts already.

FPL messed up big time this season like never before!

I can still remember his days at Cool FM. He was one of those personalities I loved in that station and on radio in general. His morning show then was awesome! Dan, Foster! The Foster child.

We should all try to be prepared for our own time each day.

PS: Nigerian-American, how? He was an American as far as I know.

Help needed on this.
I have never sold any non-US .com domain, but some people have had luck selling such in the past. The closest I came was a $100 offer for DrivingLessonsEdinburgh in king some years ago that I turned down and couldn't get again afterwards - I even renewed the domain expecting a better offer.

I currently have only one non-US .com in my portforlio for a Canadian city after seeing a .com for the country sold by someone here several weeks ago. I hadn't tested .com for that country before now.

You still want to put your entire focus on the U.S., except you see a TRULY great name for countries that prefer their own TLDs.

YP. Until there's a scraper for google maps. I try to verify the mails and get rid of duplicates anyway.
Good decision! There are many invalid email addresses on YP and one runs the risk of being limited or having one's emails sent to spam by using them like that.

I'd advise people to be more cautious of web-based email addresses (e.g. Gmail, Yahoo, etc) from there. Verification tools can't really check them accurately, from experience.

I hope you guys recommending WHOIS.com for looking up names that you're not yet ready to register realise that it's a company like Namecheap (registrar and hosting provider). I don't think it's safer looking up names there than at any other registrars IMHO.

my sad experience
please my fellow domainers learn from my heart break and pains.hmmmmm i took out lots of hours from friday, saturday and sunday to formulate 5 good trending names that would have earn me some good $$$s .so i check all names and they were all available since there was no cash in my card .and expecting cash today monday so i decided to wait for monday.as i check this monday morning they have all been registered embarassed,i only check their availability oooh nothing else, hmmmm sad morning for me.please if you are not with ready cash in your card or paypal keep your name till you do.i only check with dynadot.dont be a victim learn from my mistake.bless and have a fruitful week to all domainers.
That's a sad one indeed. I could remember reading something similar to this here some time ago.

Since the first time I dabbled into domaining several years ago, I have always thought about that happening. I am one of those Nigerians that would count money dispensed by an ATM to see if it's complete - at least, I used to do that. grin E be like say I get trust problem, and the country contributed to that.

I remember testing gibberish names like sphgyhkb, ureafraud etc on a domain reseller (can't remember the specific one now) when I was still new just to see how dependable they were. You'd not believe the site telling me they were taken. shocked

For peace of mind, I use InterNIC WHOIS once in a while when I need to check availability. You may check it out.

Don't let those idiots in the bank deceive you, your bank took your money. The exchange rate you saw prior to your transaction wasn't what you were charged. Just divide the the total amount charged in naira to the price of the item to get your true exchange rate at the time.

Access Bank did that to me. I had to carry out a thorough investigation before I got to know they actually charged me N447/$. Some of the banks are crazy, they don't want anyone to use Naira to buy stuffs in dollars
That's become Access's way. They did something similar to me and I mentioned it here also.

But this particular case is outrageous. With the amount charged, the exchange rate worked out to N532/$!

priceaction:
forget long story, your bank use intermediary services, but they wont tell you. thats where the money go.
That's crazy! Yet, they successfully explained in such a way that I believed the payment processor was to blame. They said the payment should have been in USD, but the other company set Naira as the currency for payment. The bank talked about some DCC rate being used.

Well, I just hope have learned my lesson.
Business › Re: What To Do To Make Money Online? by U1(m): 5:00pm On Jun 11, 2020
It might be in order to let people know that we need to exercise more caution when requested on foreign sites to pay in Naira for products priced in USD.

I paid for the Reoon Yellow Pages Scraper towards the end of May and the $15 price was displayed as N6,140. I went ahead to pay seeing that the rate used wasn't much different from the ~399/$ rate charged by Stanbic at the time.

I was surprised to receive a debit notification of N7,982 for the transaction 1-2 days later. I had to contact Stanbic, Reoon, and the company's payment processor. Each kept referring me to other(s).

The bank said the processor presented $19.95 for settlement and that it converted it at N400/$. As for the software seller, it stated that it was notified of only a $15 charge and that it got $13+ out of it. Yet, the payment processor still maintains it charged N6,140.

I had never paid in Naira on a foreign website before this transaction, so I don't know if this is what the experience is like. We learn every time.

Chances are that you didn't even pay up to N2 per word as some requested here - that's even low. If you didn't pay that, good luck finding better non-Nigerian writers!

$125 sale

Name: BostonMALawnCare in king
Source: Hand-reg (?)
Venue: Dan
Type: Outbound
Hold time: ~2.5 months

The price was so low, compared to GoDaddy valuation even though that may not be 100%. It's just what I'd call a "testing microphone" sale.

I have several names in the form city+state abbreviation+keyword, but I had not managed to sell any before this. This one was agreed at that price mainly to convince me that such names can sell.

I saw it on ED. But when I moved to Dynadot, I was told that it's not a "re reg," so I couldn't get it at 6.99. My balance was insufficient to cover the regular price.

I didn't find the name among freshly-dropped names when I went back to check.
