mu2sa2: kudos to Iran for handling the case of this CIA spy with resolute decisiveness. The man was trying to use christianity as a guise to undermine the Ialamic Republic but God exposed him.
God exposed a spy and he was tried for evangelism? U hear urself? What happened to d evidence God used to expose the spy?

babyosisi: The man will be released soon
Mark my words
Those clowns will not keep him for long
They know who the superior authority is but it doesn't stop them from trying.
America has saved tons of Muslims from being stoned to death let alone a Christian pastor
The publicity will help save him
These maggots operate in secrecy but once the news is out they curl up like millipedes

Tomorrow you will hear the noisemakers here tell us about the freedom in Islam
When the place is bondage
dis is false hope! The arabs have shown their hatred for xtians and almighty america wont dare into iran unless they want a blood bath, nor will britain! The sharia countries, saudi arabia as number one has shown themselve unable to guarantee religious freedom to citizens and aliens and believe me, american knows what toes to match.

Ihedinobi: @Kay 17,

Let me give you an example, ok. Science says all matter is made up of small spheres that retain the total character of each substance. It calls them atoms and describes them as composites of electrons, neutrons and protons. Does Christianity conflict with this?

Another. Science holds that no event can begin to occur or change in its manner of occurence without some external impetus. Does Christianity conflict with this?

Shall I go on? I imagine you've got the general idea. Now pick one scientific principle established by those tools you were flaunting and show me how Christianity conflicts with it.

As for the issue about the Church, if you will hold that view then, atheism must be judged by the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Mao and their brand of communism.
i saw dis arguement brew abt a page ago.
Christianity Etc › Re: Frosbel Let's Discuss Christianity by Ubenedictus(m): 12:42am On Jan 30, 2013
Ihedinobi: You know, there's a great many debates on the issue of morality. I personally think it's an open-and-shut case. What is the meaning of murder outside religion? What would you call murder and why? Those questions are only meant to show you the intellectual difficulty you run into once you reject the objectivity of morality. Morality has to be objective to mean anything at all.

Again, my point, if indeed I have made one, does not revolve around man being the center of anything. You asked for a case to be made for Christianity being the True Way. You demanded that Bible verses be kept out of it. I'm only trying to do that. My last post asked a question, I think it a vital one. Your post above does not quite answer it but it does show something curious, namely, that even though you think man is total master of himself and his destiny you don't think he's anything special. That's curious because if man is indeed the first, he most certainly is the second as well. To be total master of himself, as I have already said, man must be himself God, the only truly arbitrary being and authority there is. And I think that's pretty special, don't you?

Ok. You seem unwilling to even consider the possibility of an epitome of evil that is not man. But I don't think that the life that surrounds us everyday is in agreement with you. If everyday reality evidences anything, it is that man is in the middle of a struggle in his nature. He's not the ringleader of an opposition nor is he an embattled ruler, he's caught in the middle. I really doubt that this needs serious debate for acceptance. If man were himself a moral extreme, we would all of us be unspeakably evil, but even the worst of the scum of humanity is still found to not be purely evil. Our evil and our good is qualified.

As for the laws, it does not really matter to me what kind you mean. The existence of a choice to obey or rebel means that man is not total master of his destiny. Once he has chosen a path, he has come under the rule of the lord of that path. What does it mean to rebel against the creator? The existence of an intelligent designer implies the existence of an intelligent design which in turn is the product of an intelligent purpose. A departure from this purpose and this design is a defiance of the intelligent will that fashioned it. Such a departure is rebellion. Do you disagree?

However, I'd rather we don't drag this out much further. Man is indeed controller of his destiny...as far as his decisions go, beyond them, he's only an agent for a Moral Power. He's terribly important, but he's still one part of creation.

There are two Moral Extremes or Powers, one of which is the Intelligent Designer you believe in. We may argur about who or what the other is, but of the existence of one or the fact that man is not this other I think we both know there is no real debate. Can we proceed?

Edited.

Enigma: Meanwhile there is no problem that Matthew might have omitted 'neither the Son'; since as Matthew stands in even the KJV, for the perceptive and informed, it still harmonises with Mark. And once again the scholarly literature has an explanation of why Matthew might have deliberately omitted the phrase.

Anyhoooos Matthew 24:33 as it stands in the KJV: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only
". wink

Once again in any event, all that is diversion and obfuscation: what I am waiting to see is proof of the fraud, error or whatever that led to the translation of John 1:1 as "the Word was God" smiley

ngozievergreen: If you are yoruba, just leave dis forum cos like i said before, the nigerian civil war was btw the northern n d eastern regions. U people were/are too weak to be involved. See how dey are talking like dey know their stand in dis country, Una comments above have a lot of fibre, no facts.
How can sb say Awolowo didnt put igbos on 20pounds stuff? He was doing those tnz so dat he will be compensated by d abokis, yet dey dissappointed him. All dese tnz are/were well documented n ma grand dad is stl alive to tell d story. See, dis topic is not a case of the usual NL catfights.
U ppl shd summon courage n confront d north for once, if not den lleave d igbos, cos we are not evn thinking abt u guys.
Shameful dat a region once devastated is beta dan yours even without much govt presence.
How can sb tell me d war has ended when d u ppl also opened ur mouths to say we are marginalised. Inshort......... All cowards shd go to bed. When its time for war, u start lookin for d people with larger arsenal to join..
thank God d yoruba's didnt join d war. Maybe some of my yoruba friends wouldnt have been alive today. D ibo went to a war they knew they couldn't win, dat is suicide not genocide, u cant start a war wen u know u dont have d food, manpower allies and asenal to support u. Dat isn't war it is suicide. It was late b4 ojukwu (GOD rest his soul) knew dat his brothers has pushed him into a war he could win. He began to show d staving ibo people on tv in an effort to win international sympathy, he got the sympathy alright but lost the war. U guy are talking of human right violation during d war, intarasting, i donot support d senseless killing of civillian but come on man, it was war, and in war u have casualities, d ibo war planner shuld have asked themselves if they were ready for d casualties, dat is what one must do b4 declearing a war. In a war u see d worst of soldiers, from rape to murder and d biafra soldier werent saints, dey did d same in benin, beat up pipo for fun and rape others. This is war and wen it start those violations will happen, no war without those stupid jet throwing bombs on civilian. Take d isreal gaza war 4 example, d isreali army has turned gaza into a navy and airforce pratice ground each time with casuality, or is it us and vietnam? Uptil date pipo are still difusing d u.s bombs in veitnam. Veitnam is d most shell country in d world and every year some undifused bomb will explode. Or d u.s japan war? Where d u.s dropped atomic weapon real weapon of mass distruction in japan and up til today japanese stil suffer d associated help problems. Or d allied force and germany under hitler where germany was staved by blockade? The list goes on, dat is what happen in a war, dat is why it would have been stupid 4 yoruba's to join d war. It's not cawardice, it's caution. Look b4 u leap, if u are going for war check d consequences.
Dat is why after a war, d best tin to do is heal d broken relationships, drop d bad feelings and make sure such disaster called war never repeat itself. Spread d hate of d war will lead no where! America had a civil war and they lived thru it, do u hear dem fighting over d misdeeds of d civil war? Nigerians need to learn how to forgive forget and move on. We've gat to stop living in da past.

I can't help but notice that both parties are purposely talking past each other. The whole arguement is, does d gathering of 2 or 3 random brethren mean a local church? Does d biblical local church have stucture (i dont mean buildings, i mean an organisational structure) or just anybody prays, preaches etc? Does d presence of Christ among 2 or 3 random brethren make for a substitute for d local church?
Here come questions we must ask and answer. Dey shuld be faced squarely and speaking past each other wont help.
Oga ola, d name calling too no go help d discussion, at d end everybody go commot fraustrated.
Peace

ROSSIKE: You're an ill-informed mental midget. Is it beyond you to spend a couple of hours researching ancient Egypt? ''The writing of one man'' indeed. Pathetic.

Actually it's HISTORY not a story. Your fairytale bible is the ''story''.

God's word? Do you realise that Emperor Constantine and his cohorts decided on the contents of the New Testament via a VOTE in which the voters were given MONEY?

This fact - easily researchable - is not even disputed by bible scholars, and yet like the true uninformed dunce you are, you're still talking garbage about ''God's word''.

When will you finally shed your colonial inferiority complex and seek out the truth or otherwise of the things you've been conditioned to believe?
constatine wasn't present in d councils that decided d canon of scriptures. Constantine was present only at the nicean council. Make ur research.

striktlymi: Good morning Ned,

This allegation is very strong! I believe you do not expect nairalanders to consider this seriously just because you said it.

Do you have any proof to back up your claim?

The fact that someone disagrees with you on certain matters does not mean that the individual is an agent from the very depth of hell.

I have had cause to disagree with Mr truthislght on some matters but this is not to say that he has not made some meaningful contributions that were beneficial to all.

I look forward to a day when we would stop attacking individuals and focus on the substance of a post instead. If advocate666 posts something that is correct, then I expect a true Christian to acknowledge the truth in the comment as against attacking him cause of a difference in beliefs.

It is indeed true that we should watch and pray lest the enemy of our faith (the devil) takes us unawares and I am for "putting every spirit to the test" but when an allegation is made then there must be proof to back it up.

Thank you!
very charitable, i'm sure i would have used some hard words in an effort to stop the name calling, but d above is just perfect.
