donpata: It says it all. U are ignorant coz ur cardinal prints evrithing on d bulletin, stands in one position nd reads it out 2 u. And dats d end of the Mass. If Catholic priest devote much tym in studyn (mayb dats y we hav d Charismatic movtmt), they would have told u dat d bible mentioned different types of wines only dat english language is limited in stating it; so it uses wine for all of such instances. Dig deep "true Christian" nd free urslf frm dis dogma..

Before u Block my lungs with unkempt gutter, Illiteracy is ur middle name. Ohhh!! If only they would stop printing d message on bulletins so that they would preach better and their followers study the Word better.. By d way, i neva said anything abt abortion.. Its obvious d only tin u took up in secondary school was space; else u shld hav read my lines..
Have u lied before? Was it unintentional? Did u lie unconsciously? When u came late for work d other day, was it really traffic as u told ur boss? Was dat lie not preplanned before it was executed... Dont claim U dont knw Catholic cardinals WOUND BEER... I cant just imagine sitting syd by syd with My pastor in a Bar wounding Beer together. Gosh. By d way, i neva said anytin abt abortion...

I dey laugh ohh.. Read bible bro or better return 2 d Canadian prairies.

If not for alcohol which have robbed them of normal thinking, how can a state body pull out of its national body and still hold its name?
d phase 'non acoholic wine' doesnt appear in d bible, besides Jesus was very clear he said "i shall drink no more of THE FRUIT OF THE VINE until i drink d new wine in d kingdom...". Jesus was quiet clear abt d wine he drank, "d fruit of d vine" still remain an acoholic wine.
GO AND DO SOME study.

JNdupu: Nigerians excel in finding what divides us rather than what unites us. It's deep within our mentality and holds us back. See Catholic vs Non-catholic venom in this thread.

It's always one thing or the other. We are so psychologically scarred by our history that accentuating these divisions satisfies the primitive instinct to always be in conflict.

Ridiculous division along lines such as North vs South, Igbo vs Yoruba, Beron vs Fulani, Men vs women, gay vs straight, witch vs ghost, left-handed people vs right-handed people, bushmeat lovers vs suya lovers, Tall people vs short people, Isale Eko vs Yaba, albino vs dark skin ... etc

GraphicsPlus: Catholic Church my foot. Let them go and sit down. They want to be in power. Which church is more politicized and governmental than Roman catholic church? Vatican refused to be under Italian government. Let them pull out and face their eternal burden of leading millions of Roman catholic adherents to hell. Probably they wanted Ayo to start praying chaplet. Nonsense.
vatican was never part of d italian state! Infact italy took large portion of d vatican's land, go 4 a little history lesson.

just wanted to point out that the phrase "FOR a covering" is not the same as "AS a covering". You don't need any links or study materials to see that, do you?
no u dont, d concordance i use also says 'for a covering'. Let me see how d discussion will go.

Christianity Etc › Re: Catholic Church Releases iPhone App To Help With Confession by Ubenedictus(m): 9:25pm On Jan 23, 2013
koastar: Either the application is used for confession or to prepare someone for it, it is NOT acceptable because, confession is a communication between you and God bofore his representative, the priest. There should be no third party. It must be secretive and that is why an ordained priest does not make known in any form or manner the statement of a confessioner to anyone. All preists swore an oath of secrecy in respect to this during their ordination. Also, it is believed that priest forgets the confession of a confessioner immediately after the confession because God does not remember your sins after they have been forgiven by Him.

In essence, I'm trying to say that, the use of an iPhone or any other applications that can be bugged or traced to retrieve information of the user will go against the secrecy of confession and therefore, go against the oath sworn by the priest. This type of technology should not be encouraged at all for confession
CONFESSION AND ITS PREPARATION SHOULD BE SECRETIVE AND A TETE-A-TETE BETWEEN YOU AND GOD!
actually d secrecy of d confessional is only biding on d priest, it is not binding on d penitent, for all d church cares d penitent can have a register thru which he diagnose his habitual sins and keeps dates of his confession. While confession is done in secrecy, examination on d oda hand can b don wit help, whether a manual or an app i dont care.

ibelab: very nice but wait till wikileaks got hold some of de confession tapes, shocked shocked
confessions aren't done on d app, infact it is forbiden even in dirge cases to recieve confession digitally, d apps is to help u confront ur sins, dat is it helps u make an examination of conscience, so it is imposible to find ur sins on wiki.

Boomark: what of false traditions? Infallibility will also uphold them too? If you can't see idolatry in bowing to images and going against God's command then i wonder what good thing Catholics can teach people about God.
does tradition bcome false simply because u said so? The catholic church in her catechism condemns idolatry but not veneration
Christianity Etc › Re: Apostolic Faith Church: Na Wa For This Kind Church by Ubenedictus(m): 8:27pm On Jan 23, 2013
Pastor Kun: But we have it on record that the catholic church has reneged on some of it's false traditions in the past; e.g "sale of indulgence" and mandatory church tithing comes to mind.
interestingly the "sale of indulgence" never occured, u get that? Indulgence were never sold! Indulgence was probably abused in germany but never sold. Indugence are granted on prayers and goodworks, contributions to d building of st peter's basilica was indulgenced that d what happened, d preachers probably over did d part on purgatory, thus he may have abused d indulgence. But a sale never happened.
Tithing was a disciplinary law dat made sure d local pastor was fed, it is neither doctrine or tradition, wen d government authorities started to ask 4 d church tithes d church stopped tithing. The law was abolished.

If d roman catholic church is truly not pleased with CAN, they should have gone through d ryt channels not just do dis publicity stunt. Whatever sha, I was never a fan of CAN.
it seems d right channels were followed, the cath church made their stand nov and dec and d stuff wasn't address by d presido, only one line of action is open wen such happen and it is to withdraw, i congratulate dem dat dey didnt decided to cut CAN off totally in all levels but if presido doesnt have a good ear, i won't b suprised if CAN is cut off like a roten arm.

OMG!! The Pope who leads more than one billion catholics world wide, uses Ali-Italia (Italian Air), pastor Ayo with less dan a hundred million Christians in Nigeria uses a private jet.

bene factum ecclesia catholica, Benedictio Ecclesiae mater. .....welldone Catholic church, God bless the mother of the church
a little correction, i tink it shuld b beneditio mater ecclesiae not ecclesiae mater, ur interpretation may also b suspect, "mother of d church" is a mystical title given to mary because she gave birth to d physical christ whose mystical body is d church. "mother church" shuld do a better job as in "God bless d church our mother".
Thanks.

wow! This is informative, it was thought his chasm was suspect but i never knew edeh has left, was he excommunicated or did he leave? I know his attempt to ordain priest will incur latae sentitae excomminication which may be reserved to d apostolic see and even suspension of all his faculties but wow! brownlord: What a shame, let the catholic bodies say the truth, is this not the first time a non catholic is leading CAN you see the born to rule mentality with we Nigerians,if it was the catholic leading this same CAN they wont hv reasons to pull out, now it's a non catholic they give all forms of excuse, is this in anyway diff. From the Jona and nothern palava that is tearing this nation apart, had there been a time the same CAN has never been close to the govt? What the objectives of the body to start with, is it not to represent Christians before the govt. so their problem now is that he's too close to the govt. doesnt that suggest to them the reason for been too close is because the govt. is led by a Christian, Abeg let this idiot say what their problem is and stop lying to the public

@ IYA NGBALI and co, you all arenhypocrits
please correct urself, i'm still researching d issue but non catholics have led CAN b4 including anglican and methodist. Ur idea dat dis is d first time a non catholic leds can is incorrect.

Pastor Kun: Stop being daft angry you erred when you stated God translated the book of acts. Admit and correct yourself instead of trying to play smart.
she didnt say God translated d book of acts. Some were faulting d word "hades" as a translation of shoel, and she quoted scriptures to show dat hades was d original word used by d apostle, at least that is what i undastood.

But as for other catholics that are still into it, those that think they are seriously worshipping God, they need to see my explanations above and repent from that sin.
interestingly d catechism of d cath church condemns idolatry, but not veneration. I dont practice idolatry, neva have, neva will.

Christianity Etc › Re: Apostolic Faith Church: Na Wa For This Kind Church by Ubenedictus(m): 5:29pm On Jan 23, 2013
Boomark: Ok. Can't the pope use the spirit of infallibility to correct/delete that idolatry?
d chasm of infallibility doesnt delete tradition or scripture, it can only uphold it. Just d way anyone wu says "JESUS isn't lord" isnt from isnt from God so will one wu denies a point of tradition or scripture never become a pope.
Where u see idolatry, i see legit veneration, dat is what d earlier xtians practiced it and so does all ancient churches.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Do Religious People Fight Science? by Ubenedictus(m): 5:04pm On Jan 23, 2013
Kay 17: But there are points in which the line between spirituality and SCience fuzzes away on matters of human knowledge.
Note that Galileo's liberal biblical interpretation was a response to a priest's criticism of his idea, the priest claimed that the bible was in support of geocentric model. In the conversation btw those two, there was only one metaphysical question.
The focus of the two trials focussed on the helicentricism question. The Church didn't ask Galileo to repudiate his scriptural interpretation rather the whole helicentric idea. Also unsurprising Kepler's works are in the index. Also note that Copernicius book was banned and in the Index of Forbidden Books.
galileo triggered a chain reaction, wen ur scriptural interpretation is condemned, so will d ideas u support and so will d books condemning d ideas. Since galileos books were banned, his ban will affect those who share d same ideas.
Christianity Etc › Re: Worst Bible Translation? by Ubenedictus(m): 2:03pm On Jan 23, 2013
truthislight: this greek influence infiltrated christianity after the death of the apostle.

Greek philosophy was considered a product of "higher learning" or higher education then just like the emphasis on a degree or degrees today.

This influence was so high that it was able to influence the so called church fathers after the death of the apostles.

The good is that alterations in the bible are easily rejected by the bible itself since it will Create contradictions Withing the bible, it will not have a clear sail from Genesis to revelation.
ur conspiration theory, is logos a jewish concept?
Christianity Etc › Re: Worst Bible Translation? by Ubenedictus(m): 2:01pm On Jan 23, 2013
truthislight: ^^^
lies.
Apostle paul did not say that the greek worship the true God, he simply use an illustration of a stature dedicated to an unknown god to tell them that there is a true God unknown to them(the greeks).
No wander some people worship anything they see.
Erm, the apostles words were never directed to any particular nation o!. Not even to the greeks.
See the instruction they we given by christ:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:19-20).

Stop the lies.
ignoratio elenchi, i never use d bolded words, u are argueing against urself. I cant help u wen u continue to attack ur own strawman.
Your continous used of "lies!" can be likened to a kid throwning trantrum.
I also didnt say d apostles were sent only to d greeks, i instead said that John who was reaching a principally greek audience will speak in ideas understandable to dem. I really cant help u if u cant understand dat simple point.

now dat was funny though insultive, i dont have a trump card, it is just a point of agreement among xtians dat d scriptures were written under d inspiration of d holy spirit.

Interestingly shoel comes from d root "to be hollow" or "sunk in", it refer to a cave, pit, a place under d earth, interestly hell translates it almost exactly literally. So wow, it seem hell translates both hades and shoel without problems.

Pastor Kun: God translated sheol as Hades huh When would you stop this arrogant expression of ignorance you always use to ridicule christianity on NL?
it's no ridicle, luke wasn't blind wen he wrote hades, neither did d holyspirit prevent him from using d greek word hades, i'm suprised that hades was ok for d apostles but not ok for xtians of d 21 century.
Christianity Etc › Re: Reasons Why Christians Are Falling For False Teachings And Doctrines ( Edited ) by Ubenedictus(m): 1:21pm On Jan 23, 2013
frosbel: Hades is the greek word for the place of the dead or grave.
Jesus DIED , was buried and rose again.
acording to your erroneous theology, which by the way I do not blame you for , Jesus did not wholly die, his resurrection was a farce because only his body died while his soul went into your favourite but non-existent place called HELL.
Now , there are a number of problems with your logic.
1. Attributes immortality to the SOUL when the SOUL is in fact the whole MAN and not just his body.
For example.
"And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry."'" - Luke 12;19
Kindly , explain to the house how a SOUL can :
1. Eat
2. Drink
2. It suggests , this time very dangerously, that Jesus Christ did not fully DIE , in fact , while Mary and the rest where weeping , Jesus in one form or the other was in HELL doing battle.
Again, this is totally unbiblical, Jesus died 100% which is why the act of resurrection was such a powerful , miraculous , death destroying, sin smashing and devil shaming event.
The devil held men in fear because of death all their lives, but now JESUS had come and defeated death by obedience to the father, paving way for all who will follow in his footsteps.
"Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death--that is, the devil " - Hebrews 2:14
"But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him." - Acts 2:24
i alway knew frosbel will take this discussion to a different tangent, im just suprised it came late.

hahaha, i didnt justify anything. I just show with proof that hell is a literal translation of hades, u on d other hand is living in denial and trying fantically to run from d fact dat hell translates hades literally.
Christianity Etc › Re: Reasons Why Christians Are Falling For False Teachings And Doctrines ( Edited ) by Ubenedictus(m): 1:03pm On Jan 23, 2013
moredendisc: @Ubenedictus
Couldn't resist the urge to ignore this. Incidentally the same pole position Image123 is latched on to
The idea of Hell english word according to Greek mythology original greek word Hades is that ONLY bad people end up there (i.e. no good people ever end up in hell)
The idea of Sheol to the Jews is that bad people & good people ended up there, however they were separated by a chasm or gulf
Hell is a makeshift once and for all translation for Hades, and Hades is the absence of a better word translation of the Hebrew original word Sheol
The translators should have stuck with Sheol instead of trying to translate it
So what's your response to this: Did good people, at some time, ever end up in Hell?
yeah, i thought that i explained this in my thread on christ desent into hell. Yeah i believe b4 christ death both d just and d unjust were in hell, d just in d bosom of abraham(some theologians call it limbo patria) and d unjust in a not so good part of hell. Ur idea dat d translators shuld stick wit shoel is funny, it is like saying all d hebrew words shuld be left in hebrew, wen d greeks translated d jewish scripture they translated it and no one cried it's funny u dont lash at d greek translators bt u wont spare d english ones even though they translated literally. Really funny!

moredendisc: @Ubenedictus

It is an idiom, it is not my idea

gnashing of teeth
Figuratively. a show of anger or dismay.
- Biblical: "there will be weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth".

Example: After a little gnashing of teeth and a few threats, the boss calmed down and became almost reasonable.
See also: gnash, teeth

http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/gnashing+of+teeth
i did my research, u are correct, gnashing teeth is an expression of rage not regret. Thanks 4 d correction.
