Good to catch up with the discussion again. It has been a while since i visited this thread. For some reasons i felt so useless and that i have failed my friends. I used to believe that information and preparation is the most important factor in securing a job here but now i see it goes beyond that. some recent events has made me to see that luck/favour has a very large role to play despite the information you have, qualifications or network of friends. Just a while ago i tried to provide some of my friends with as much information as possible as regard to oil and gas vacancies and companies here in the UAE; Giving some insider view and pointers but i was disappointed when at the end of it all nothing happened. I discovered that just like Naija many oil and gas companies are looking for experience, some others outsource the recruitment of their entry level staff to recruitment agencies in India, Philippines etc However, that it didn't work for my friends doesnt mean it won't work for you so i don't want anyone to be discouraged. Simple truth is that there are a lot of us coming into the industry here. In my camp alone we have more than 30 Nigerians, on my rig the Fishing Engineer from Schlumberger is a Nigerian, my chief mechanic is also a Nigerian. we are 5 Nigerians in total. I have also worked on a rig where the Rig Manager, Assistant Rig manager, 1 Driller, 3 Assistant Drillers and 3 Rostabouts are all Nigerians. The Schlumberger seems to have even more Nigerians, as all the fishing Engineers that have worked with me on my current rig are all Nigerians. I also learnt their boss at the office is a Nigerian. I discovered that most Nigerians here dont speak or understand Arabic judging by all the people i know, only 2 people can speak very basic Arabic unlike other nationals that i have met. Can anyone of us here speak or understand Arabic? Dr Dre thanks for your recommendations it is really an eye opener. I'm guessing it would be much easier to get Qatar visit visa from over here in the UAE once you have emirates ID. what do you think? @Justi4jesu and monchouchou you ladies are really doing a great job here. Ken1982 my man you just forget your guy for one corner. God dey oo. ChineloSA aka ChineloSASA it's good to know you enjoyed your visit here, i'm sorry i'm just responding now. How is work and life over there? |
I just love this lady naturally. Whether the tattoo good or bad i love her like that. |
drlawizle:Bro, I haven't done that before and besides I'm not updated on that route anymore, it has been a while. |
Jemiriye is going places, she has always been a talented and humble girl from back then at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism. She is gradually making a name for herself in the US. I'm proud to have known her. I still remember her version of PSquare's chop your money. |
MrCounselor:It must be your state of origin. |
Nnaeb:Good idea but some courses on your list doesn't need to be scrapped off. |
chineloSA:welcome to the emirates chineloSASA |
INTROVERT:It will look cool... I still have a pics of my mum wearing shorts and sneakers about 22 years ago and some old pics of my dad too. It depends on your exposure, civilization and picture quality. Even now, some people still dress just like TB joshua on this pics. |
NthabeM:I'll suggest areas such as Surulere, Allen Avenue, Opebi, Isaac Jones, Adeniyi Jones, Omole, Ogba, Festac, Magodo, Ogudu, Ikoyi, Lekki, Alausa, maryland, etc |

Lagos is one fun and crazy city... Nobody can give you an analysis of Lagos and be totally correct about that. To each individual, Lagos means a different thing. Lagos is a mixture of different things even some of the things we complain of, you miss them when you're not in Lagos. Interesting places will likely depend on you, where you are and the people you meet while in Lagos. You could love the parties and events, the people, the numerous beach, the market settings, the freedom and so on. Everyday you go out and meet with Lagosians is a very unique and different experience. To me the people of Lagos is the most interesting. To enjoy Lagos more, you need to be open minded, while being cautious. When you come try to visit or stay in different area of lagos. |
You will definitely need a visa to Bahrain. According to one of my colleagues who studied there, Bahrain is one of the liberal Gulf countries like Dubai but i'm yet to meet any of our people who is based there. I only know of people who go there for airport to airport visa change from UAE. |
i got a mention from someone who wish to ask me something about NDC but before i visited the thread the post has been probably deleted. The rules of the thread frowns at requesting to contact people behind the thread. Maybe you should ask the question here and if in anyway i can't provide the answers here because of privacy then i might contact you. |
this could probably be one of the reasons why Wike is so mad at Amaechi |
Ramadan Kareem to all the members of the thread. I swear that this ramadan is so good. I'm spoilt with choices of food and fruits. E just be like make the thing no end again. |
nattybanta:Gooci This is not the best solution. He should bring his sim along and anytime he wants to activate whatsapp they will send him confirmation sms and if he needs to receive calls on it, the cost will be around 50 naira per minute. If he has internet banking he will be able to recharge as he wish or activate his atm card in the atm machine for the quickteller otp service after which he can buy airtime or pay bills through Quickteller account. I have my mtn, airtel, etisalat and visafone with me and they all roamed automatically except visafone so he will be fine. |
almost 2,500 downloads already? Nairaland got people |
ikp4succes:I reasoned alike because they are mostly alone in the house and can do whatever they like in her absence. Even if they wanted to rob her in her presence all of them are capable of over powering her and locking her up till they are gone. may be the person behind all these used his networking to get them out through the justice system. |
if she has good characters but masturbates and be faithful and open to me... I swear i'll be glad to have her as my wife in this life and after life. You don't know what you have bro. I hate infidelity and i believe when a woman is unfaithful it starts affecting her general attitude wrongly. |

worry357:Life could be unfair at times or maybe God has other plans for him |
nattybanta:A little dollar in the airport and you'll be gone. |
monchouchou:Initially he was selective but towards the end things changed for him and he was willing to take up any offer. Someone promised him some offer and unfortunately the day he left, some other one came up but he was already on the flight going. |
monchouchou:My dear e no easy o, i felt very bad because i couldn't help much. The house rent and other expenses no be here. |
futurewise11:Informative post |
Taiwotasungo:Yes, you can be offered a job but 1 month is not advisable for job seeking because it seems time runs faster when you're job hunting. After the first 2 weeks, the last 2 weeks will be a very desperate and depressing one. I personally know someone who went back last week to Nigeria after 3 months of job hunting. |
pablomaria:Abeg you don work for Dubai, CID before? You too much jare |
boys are not smiling. Ehm... Girls and women are not smiling too |
