WebmastersRe: New Gmail Mobile View :- What's Your Say? by ugsams(m): 1:07pm On Sep 11, 2013
Maybe it is because it is new, but I don't like it, especially the arrangement. for instance it takes me two click to get to my spam folder which I can easily access with just one click on the old interface. Anyway I like the dark header.
TravelRe: No Final Decision By UK On £3,000 Visa Bond by ugsams(m): 6:39am On Sep 09, 2013
Because of this bond and one other reason, I gave up on visiting the UK this year, because I know that no body will be willing to pay the 3,000 bond for me. But this sounds like good news.

PoliticsRe: Man Detained For Recording Arrest Of Okada Rider by ugsams(m): 10:43am On Aug 29, 2013
pato station: The police are even becoming smarter on this matter (you know, once beaten, twice shy). They now have plain cloth officers in every illegal mission. I tried to record them one day at Opebi Roundabout focussing only on the uniformed without realizing that one of them in Mufti was behind me. Your guess as to what happened next is as good as mine. I was mercilessly beaten, my phone smashed, my glasses smashed and I have never been humiliated that way in my life. My Lawyer said I was lucky to get away with my life.
It seems the idea of having some of their members in mufti to cover up and watch out for them is their new protective measure. I was codedly taking pictures at Abule Egba and one of them hit me from behind, I never knew he was a police man so I pushed him back and we started dragging for my phone. I only realized that he was one of them when he raised an alarm that I was taking their pictures and the uniformed men came to pick me. They wanted me to enter the black Maria but I refused and they accused me of violating their privacy. I was not going to argue the law with them, all I wanted was my freedom. So I tried to explain to them that I only took the picture because I was amazed as a result of the number of bikes that they seized successfully and the number of offenders arrested in the black Maria. They asked me what I wanted to do with the photo I told them that I only took it on a casual note.

All these while, they were still with my phone and after my sermon I was directed to enter the blackmaria. When I saw that my explanations couldnt help me I told their superior that am a journalist. They insisted that I must follow them to the office, i was busy pleading for my phone so that I will be leaving. After some minutes the most superior observed that there was a circumstance on ground, he came out of his vehicle and motioned them to bring me. When we got to his car, they told him I was taking photos and he told them that it was not a crime. They pointed out that it was pictures of them that I was taking and the man asked my motive and I explained to him. They also told him that am a journalist and suggested they take me to the station. The Oga in charge of the raid, asked if I have sent out the photos to my office or internet and demanded for my identity card, I said no and he requested I should delete the photos which I gladly did. He warned that I should take permission next time before I take any photo and told me that if it was just the boys that came for the raid that they would have arrested and dealt with me.

Please let's be careful when taking such photos if only we must take them. Our society is not yet ready for such freedom a telephoto lens or spy camera may be helpful.
BusinessRe: Is Entrepreneurship For You? by ugsams(m): 10:30pm On Aug 28, 2013
This sounds difficult but being an entrepreneur requires a whole lot of courage and optimism. It has it's low time but can be very rewarding after a continuous effort and innovation. Entrepreneurship is what we need in this country now.

PhonesRe: All DATA USERS, WAKE UP (CAMPAIGN FOR FAIRNESS) by ugsams(m): 12:56pm On Jul 20, 2013
As a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to express my right by urging the Nigerian Communications Commission to see to the review of the data cap attached to the subscription of data on smart phones such as Android, IOS and Windows by our network providers. We demand for a fair data plan. In comparison to the Blackberry plan which is considered slightly affordable, subscribers on Android get between 200-350MB for N1,000 while those on Blackberry get between 1-3GB for N1,000. We wish that prices for data are made more affordable for the Nigeria youths who refer to the internet for resources and information which are not easily available within our society. I also wish to state my dissatisfaction in the alleged role that NCC played in the termination of the MTN SuperSaver tarrif which was regarded as the cheapest in the country with its 10kobo per second call rate across the country. In solidarity with other youths fighting for this cause we shall continue to lament and express our desires until we get a positive intervention.

That was my comment on NCC's Facebook page. I also think that we should involve the federal Ministry of Information and also that of youths.

WebmastersRe: Linda Ikeji's Blog VS ₦airaland Forum: Which Is More Profitable? by ugsams(m): 9:10am On Jul 17, 2013
People are talking about userbase here, does anyone pay for membership here? No doubt, Nairaland has more userbase, traffic, content, interactivity, and value but i think Linda Ikeji's blog is more profitable. Going by their advert rate and the number of advert available on the site. (I have seen Nairaland's advert rate but that of linda was a speculation anyway. Linda and her staff are the only people that has access to publish stories on the blog while in Nairaland every registered member can post stories with the regulation of the moderators. What this translates is that most of Linda stories are PR stories i.e she can collect money to promote a story, although Nairaland can still do tht through the promotion of stories on the frontpage like people has always accused them with Tonto Dike's stories.

Zuby chapter 86 deals a lot with some sensitive matters. Several times I have been in the conscience battle of faith, belief, doubt and guilt. I have wondered how many people that lives within my head, I can clearly hear them start an argument with two totally opposing view and never come to term except I decide to take the opinion that is suitable or appealling to my state of mind at the exact moment which are mostly the liberal and non judgemental ones. I have wondered if it happens to every other person.

Funny enough I haven't closed this thread for almost a week, all I do is to refresh the page on interval in search of update. Oga zuby were you recording this stories as it happened? If not, then you have a very good memory, the type that only geniuses possess. See the way you quote time, date, events, names of places, cities, people and so on as if it happened yesterday. Or are you adding some fiction to complete the gap? I bet many people cannot give an account of last week's event with so much coherence. However, thanks for the story. Am really enjoying the chapters abi episodes.

I stumbled upon this story and I was curious to know the direction it was going. I was very familiar with some of the earlier chapters as an Onitsha boy who has travelled to few west African country. However, since Zuby moved to Europe, I have been following this story from one thread to another. I am no more curious, I am now helpless, hooked and addicted to the story. Chai! this thing be like season film, it reminds me of prison break in those days. Oga Zuby nice delivery. NDEWO

TravelRe: Let's Tour Together For Holiday by ugsams(m): 8:46am On Jul 11, 2013
henrimoto: ahahahh.... bros, nice imput... but d concepts u are bringing in will make d tour a complex one! what d op. wanted was just a simple trip around (some) neighbouring west african countries, not (all) * op! am i in line with ur view?* with some group of like minds... just 4 few days... dis ur own concepts may take weeks or months... d easiest dat can b achieved within d tour is taking camera shots of some interesting place or video. and little documentation.
Am down for any of the travel options. I only made a suggestion which I think will be more adventurous and interesting. However even if we want to tour the west African countries we may not do it once. we may go to few countries at a time depending on consensus, the available time and resources.
TravelRe: Let's Tour Together For Holiday by ugsams(m): 8:36am On Jul 10, 2013
am in too... I have been waiting for a tour of West Africa, at least most of them are Visa free to us. Although the more the merrier but we don't have to be thousands of people for this trip to work. Let's set an agreed minimum number of people and if we get that we can decide on our budget, logistics, mode of travel, motive etc. I said motive, because we may have to achieve something from the trip besides pleasure. we can decide to design projects and programmes to implement in any of the visited country during the trip and seek support, sponsorship and donations from corporate bodies and individuals. we may set up a blog or website besides update on Nairaland to make it interactive and to update our followers. we may even document it in writings, still pictures and audiovisuals. We may also have to learn a little language besides English. Let us make decisions fast before it will be discouraged by some negative driven individuals.

With perfect planning, it can work. Here are some topics that could be covered:
1) Problems facing web developers in Nigeria
2) Experiences of web developers in Nigeria
3) How to succeed in web development in Nigeria
4) It could be a platform for us to network
5) We could set up booths where we advertise ourselves
etc etc[/quote]Well said... I also believe it will work If we can all collaborate and contribute any effort we feel will be useful towards achieving a successful gathering. Meanwhile, am a newbie to the web designing industry and have found this section very useful as i have already learnt a lot through it.

TravelRe: ABC Transport - Passengers Beware! by ugsams(m): 7:28pm On Dec 29, 2012
I don't doubt this story as I have witnessed a delayed trip from ABC travelling from Lagos to Port-Harcourt on the 26th of December 2010 and ever since then I made up my mind to not patronise them again. Thank God we weren't robbed although we had to stop because of a robbery that happened few metres away from us around Amorka. We left Lagos around 7 am and got to Imo state by 10pm, in our case the vehicle was faulty and they couldn't change it for us.
