But I was told by a friend that I can't serve, reason being "I don pass the age limit" cos I am 31....... Pls house Wat is the age limit and how true is it

its not about how old u are now, its about how old u were when u graduated. If u graduated b4 30yrs old, u can serve whenever u want, even when u're 45.
Pls, do register for next yrs batch A, Nysc website will be opened for such by feb 2013.

they need to check the authenticity of the callup letter, to avoid fake letters. My camp checked theirs using mercury light. A laminated copy will be difficult to check.

A trick that works just fine is to pretend u dont know how to march. This way, u'll be excused from the selected main marching corp members. So after every morning drill by man'o war, the selected guys will continue the morning parade, while others just cluster at the parade ground and observe. They'll try to lure u guys, telin u fake gist that the selected guys and the band crew will have preferential posting to the state capital. Thats a blatant lie!

mehn, arik is fvckin expensive. Aero is ok, their planes can be 'molue' on air but it stil lands u where u're going. Flights can be delayed for just a few hrs, but its not a recurrent event.

hahahaha If batch B could survive that camp, u too can survive. Honestly, it was terrible. They called the male hostel 'Abuja' hostel. Thats an irony b'cos the hostel looks more like an abandoned refugee camp. The lectures were the most boring part. The tenth doesnt take much corp members, so u've got to sit out on the sun for hours listening to one guy giving a skills acquisition lecture on how to produce perfume, bleach, polish, nonscence!

better facilities ke? The only thing hes gona get is a better weather, it was raining in july while i was at camp. The camp was a mess, coupled with the rains. We had to edit the phrase of NYSC anthem that said 'under the sun and in the rain' to 'under the sun NOT in the rain'

IbroSaunks: Thanks Chief! One other thing, if you don't mind. What about people redeploying, do they have to get a PPA too? I'm asking because the PPA an individual gets could influence the final decision whether to leave or stay.

if u're redoploying, u dont get a ppa. U fill a redoployment form 2nd wk at camp, and attach all necessary documents (medic report, mariage certificate etc). A list wil come out at the last wk of camp, showing succesfuly redeployed corp members and their new states. So u wont be giving a ppa letter after camp, but a redoployment letter. u just go straight to ur new state and find a ppa for urself at the new state.

IbroSaunks: Also, it says there won't be a short holiday after camp on the letter, is that true? I was kinda counting on a holiday.

u move from camp to ur ppa. Get an acceptance/rejection letter from ur ppa, report to the Nysc office at the local govt secretariat u were posted, do some paper work, open an acount wit the bank u're asked to, then u can travel and bring ur full load. U dont pack ur property to camp, pack very light. U'll buy most things at camp (bucket, slipers, etc).
Yes, u're allowed to travel, but u MUST sort out with ur ppa first, get an acceptance leter, register at Nysc ofice, open an account, then travel.
