emmanuelewumi: Trading stocks for a living and relying solely on the stocks capital appreciation is a recipe for disaster and high blood pressure. It will really make one to see equity investment as gambling, and many may develop cold feet and run away forever Diversification is the key... At August last year, this 14.8% FGN APR 2049 was being auctioned at a discount price of 15.5%, but many investors were busy investing in NTB only...but now NTB is all time low....then confusion everywhere |

Jejebabaa: Dr Ukay2, I really wish I could but what happened when you have tool failure and your junior on the field had to wake you up to do some troubleshooting and the likes. Wont you watch money acquired through that means and sleepless night with an eagle eyes. Infact, there are some terrible jobs you go to and you wont be able to sleep for 3 days especially if you have tool failure back to back. Sir I understand. ...it is not easy. I will advise you to buy some FGN Bonds when the yield increase again....I will remind you when the yields improve. ...currently it is about 12% I have been able to acquire good values of FGN Bonds with average yield above 13.8% of 14.8% FGN BOND 26-April -2049. You will be getting the coupon payments of 14.8% every 6 months till maturity. With that, you can sleep well and be reinesting the coupon payments either in equities or reinvest it in FGN Bonds.....compound interest For me, any investment that I cannot sleepwell in the night is not worth it. I cannot pursue money at the risk of my blood pressure. ....Loooooool |

And at the same time, devaluation is looming. Let them keep shifting the goal post... We are also going to follow you to buy more units at that time....meanwhile, we must chop this dividends, clean mouth and still follow you to buy even ZB @10, GTB@12, UBA @2.5, UCAP @0.90K. We are ready to keep buying as far as the price keeps coming down....more portfolio increase |

Part of the dividends will be diversified into other investments or buy more Zenith bank shares Waoooooo The dollar speculators are not seeing these figures And Oga Jimmy is still increasing his holdings in ZB because he believed in his investment in ZB.....his not buying dollars but reinvesting in naira ...moreover, his boy is in the CBN... |

Nigerian banks have mastered the science and art of making money from the country no matter the direction of the economy or government policies. Yes Sir. Very correct Am waiting to increase my holdings in Jim Ovia Bank soonest....will definitely increase it before closure of register, collect the dividend, still re-invest it in ZB. emmanuelewumi: N12 million invested in APR shares 6 years ago is now worth N50 million plus dividend of over N20 million making a total of N70 million.
A good Investor tries to diversify his investments, he can invest part of his dividend income into dollar denominated investments.
N12 million @ $1 to N150 is about $80,000.
@ $1 to N400 . $80,000 will be worth N32 million It is still a good investment Sir. Meanwhile, are we buying things in Nigeria with dollar or naira? No mind me oooo |

You are absolutely spot on. To see over 32% gain disappeared and turn back to loss again is sth I wouldn't forgive myself this year if i didn't listen to Oracle knowing fully well that I also took a forex loan and devaluation rumours still loud and clear. It would have been a double disaster for me. With average price of around 7 naira uba that went to 9.25 (32% gain) wiped out and then turn to loss would have been my biggest regret this year. Oracle, thank you so much and God bless you for that timely advice on this platform. Pls dont allow any imams, pastor, traditionalists to silent you on this forum. Hottdawgg: This is an extremely important observation. What guarantees are there the intermediary will not take advantage of what is clearly a loop hole? My account is loaded and ready to go but this alongside unfavorable exchange rate with Trove bothers me as a new entrant.
OakPearl you have started what to some of is a dream come true. Thanks.
My other concern is how long is this going to last? I am not an economist neither do I pretend to be but this appears to be a form of capital flight that may put further pressure on the naira. Is it sustainable? What happens when our govt says no, enough is enough? Or should we just revel in our fools paradise, being the risk takers that we are, hoping for the best? When some of us joined in the NSE bubble that was promoted on NL sometime ago, we had no such fears. This is aVERY IMPORTANT POINT RAISED. I think we should deliberate it a while Thanks |

@Oakperl, I didn’t see the bids and offer prices of most stocks during trading hours yesterday. .....is it possible am missing how to use the Trove App. .....that made me to buy the 2 stocks at market value because the limit prices I put op failed several times, then I used market value to buy.
If you could share snapshot of how bid and offer prices appear on your trove app, I will really appreciate it.
Thanks |

OakPearl: Go for stocks with consistent quarterly dividend history. Note that the dividend yield in this market is far lower than what we are used to in the Nigerian stock exchange. I am yet to do a proper profiling as my initial focus is growth stocks for capital appreciation.
I intend to follow up on that later. Thank you Sir. I bought SPCE and Nokia yesterday Please do and be coming around to guide on on this journey |
