Manonamission: As at Jan 1, 2017(pg 7 of Q1 unaudited), Accumulated losses/Retained earnings stood at (N12.4B) only. By the end of Q1,2017 it improved to (N9.84B) meaning gain of about N2.62B. Dangflour will barely turn positive as far as retained earnings is concerned if it continues at this rate. The company must report higher profits to meet your huge expectation. I don't doubt the potential of the management to make this happen though. Just trying to paint a clearer picture. Subsequent quarters should be better. I also believe the market might reprice this stock higher before the year ends as continuous profits are declared quarterly.
This is not a recommendation to BUY or to REFRAIN from buying.
EDIT: Just realized there's a seperate report (pg 8 of Q1 unaudited) stating (N8.51B) as at Jan 1,2017 which has now improved to (N5.48B). (Accountants in the house, what's the difference between the two?) Then, it's expected to turn positive by Q3,2017 if tempo is maintained. Am even confused with two separate reports pages 7&8 of q1 2017... even AUDITED 2016 Q4...Accumulated losses was N12.4B in page14 and this changed to N8.5B in page 15..... .which one should shareholders use as the real figures. ...Please guys help us explain the two contradictory figures make person de project well... Coolcash1: Rights issue are additional shares issued by a company to its EXISTING shareholders. The existing in capital letter as a matter of emphasis to tell you that not for everybody but for people who currently are shareholders in the company.
Rights issue is a financing strategy at a cheaper cost used by companies to either refinance debt (i.e. debt settlement), business expansion or fund strategic acqusitions.
Rights issue price are usually lower than the market price because its suppose to woo existing shareholders to take it up.
They are not available on the floor of the exchange as they are bought through designated issuing company's underwiriter. Think of this like an IPO (Initial Public Offer)...Note that the difference between IPO and rights issue is that the former is for all comers but Rights are meant for existing shareholders.
As an existing shareholder, it is NOT compulsory you take it up. As such, it can be ignored. You also have the option of buying into it or you buy and then sell it on the exchange.
Most investors dislike rights issue because it dilutes their shareholding in the company. The value of their investment drops as more shares are being created causing total outstanding shares to be on the high side.
Like i said, it is not compulsory you buy it. Just do your DD before taking your decision.
Good luck. Thank you. ....I will just ignore this right issue. .....wI'll rather prefer buying from the floor on nse anything I may consider them.... |

Happyfellow147: I just went to stanbic ibtc in my area now. The customer service representative said the next auction is 5th April. She said I should come on 3rd or 4th that I'd be given a form to fill but since this is my first time, I want the gurus here to guide me. How would I know the forms I'd be given is the authentic one because we have heard of some dubious bank staff defrauding customers. I don't want to fall victim please. Two forms...Custodian form and Treasury bills Tender form....next time you bid via the same bank, you will not fill the custodian form again. ..rather the Treasury Bill Tender formy you will be filling subsequently. .. |

dejiotus: Gurus in the house should kindly update the house about the rates offered by banks for customers that submitted application for the auction on 22 March. I am particularly keen on the rates from GT, as I am still waiting for the rate I will be offered for the 364 day tenor My friend was debited @17.999% for 364days NTB from GTB yesterday. ...also the commission alert debited from her was too much compared to what i was debit by stanbic ibtc....I told her to port to Stanbic ibtc bank but she is not willing due to absent of stanbic ibtc bank in her locality. ..I think IBTC means investment banking something. ....so they always offer better investment services than other banks. .. One of my friends uses gtb for salary account and stanbic ibtc bank for investment. ....I think it's good. .. |
