My daughter was crying so I was given priority and asked to leave the queue and sent straight to the Black female VO.

Me: Im working as a school administrator in my family owned school so this will help me acquire necessary skills and knowledge required to effectively manage and administer a school as I will be taking over management of the school once Mum retires in a few years.

VO: who is sponsoring you?
Me: My Mum will cover my tuition while my husband will cover I and my daughter’s living expenses.

VO continues typing for awhile then picks the blue slip and handed over to me with my passport and i20
Me: Is there anything you would have needed more clarification on as you saw I was a bit distracted and unsettled with my baby crying and me trying to pacify her and answering you in between.
VO responds it’s all in the blue slip, you can reapply at a later date.

Gurus in the house, please I need advice as to what went wrong. I already deferred my admission to Fall semester and would be reapplying. I would appreciate suggestions on how to improve my application next time.
And also if I’m asked what has changed since my last application, any suggestions on what to say because I haven’t changed my sponsors or my school.

Okay. You can check with your school if they have funding or a GA position.
Another thing I notice is that first question of "Tell me your plan" and you answered with "why are you going to the US" kind of question. Although the question is kinda tricky but it's still "tell me about your plans"

I have submitted all these documents except the MRV receipt and DS 160 (they should have those by default). I even got a letter from my gynecologist for the some purpose of EA. I wander if its because it is Lagos.
Would you advise switching to Abuja for interview and trying to request EA?

Okay, they don't have those "by default" if not, they wouldn't ask for "supporting documents" but you can switch to Abuja if you feel you will have the best shot.

If you have already been granted EA then you have to choose a date before the deadline. Since you're not the only one applying and the date has changed, pick one then request for an extension letter from your school (I just pray your school is not coconut head.....) But just do this

So you mean you are not in Nigeria and you sent your international passport for U.S to place a visa on? Unbelievable.
This is one of the reasons they stopped DHL from receiving documents and want the Nigeria staff at the consulate to do the initial processing. Because of people like you they will soon insist that no one should submit any passport for another.
Just pray they don’t detect your absence from Nigeria.

You can just follow up to know if you can reapply. That should be the next step.

Hmmm if the passport will be ready before interview, you can pay for the baby's visa and fill all other things then take the baby along but if not, you can follow this advise and apply for the baby later.

Yes you don't need i-20 for B1/B2 but for those that have F2 dependant, they can add the i-20 as part of the supporting document

All documents was the person applying. The only thing that doesn't belong to the person going for the EA interview was the hospital record. Don't forget, you have opportunity to send 5 supporting documents. And it was Abuja

Changing names will have no effect on the interview but it will sure delay everything else. So rock your last name with great pride.
If this will help you get a settled mind, "Females Muslims are not entitled to use their husband's last name, they stick to their own father's name. But that doesn't mean we don't have female married Muslims applying for US visa with their husband using different last names"

I always request for the emergency interview on her behalf. Could it be because of this, as the IP will show that it's coming from within US.
Also , before I put to bed, I included Dr's not requesting that my mum be allowed to travel by December as my main support as I anticipated surgery... Still was denied.

No, that's not the reason why. Did all that from my end and it was granted.

Everything else is separate except the appointment. Different ds160, both will pay visa fee but you can schedule visa date together

I am hopeful for a closer 2022 date as the date I have at the time I filled her visa is Nov, 2023. Okay, although No. 2 is so out of the picture but the only thing that will solve this as long as the F1 or F2 are still on good standing with visa and F1 with school, the F1 should add the F2 on the school insurance and everything else will fall in place. Before you start hospital visits, make sure the insurance is active or you will end up paying out of pocket and those visits are not cheap because they involve tests and you can't "don't want to do the tests".
Although F1 can have something like "Qualifying Insurance for depandents" in case of an emergency but then you don't want to wait till you give birth before you use that benefit.

So in all, have the F1 add F2 on his insurance and everything will be fine.
Next, "Can the baby gets all benefits after birth?"
In everything both F1 and F2 want to do concerning the baby/babies till the end of F1 program, they should all ask about eligibility in relation to the parents status. Things like WIC, Food stamps, Child Care scholarship Program/ Daycare voucher etc (this is termed, been careful and thorough).

Okay. You should both separate your application if you can and your wife can apply with the baby. Another one is for both of you to apply together with the baby. Another one is for both of you to apply together without the baby.

3. Can I use my own account and hubby's account for statement
4. My children are between 17 and 14years can I apply for F1/F2 together with them and hubby?
5. How easy is it to get external scholarship for a PhD, any links.
6. Do you think I should open up discussion with possible supervisors in the Department?

First, YES to 6 and 7. Infact, those two should be in place ASAP.
Okay. Although a PhD program should come with funding but some schools may have you apply separately. That's, you will have to apply for funding and GA position after securing admission. Talk to your graduate coordinator to find out about that.
1. Moving funds 2 months to generating the statement can be risky but you can try since you can always say it's for your education.
2. You can. It's fine because he has a job and there's nothing wrong if he wants to chip in something into his wife's education.
3. You can use either one if you are applying alone, you can use both if your kids are coming with you or everyone will be coming with you for the interview.
4. Although the kids are still classified as minors and there shouldn't be nothing wrong in that. "There shouldn't be......."

With everything said, you should try as much as possible to work on that funding. Looks like that's the backbone of everything.

Okay, even if the politician is the father, as long as he can state clearly why he will sponsor him, it's fine. So let me give one example.
A male student is going for a MSc program that cost $40,000 with no funding. Then he went to the embassy and the VO asked "who's your sponsor?" And he said, "my dad who's a politician is sponsoring". Then the VO says, "Why would he sponsor you?"
1. What will be your response if you are the student?
2. If the VO then ask for the statement of account, will the amount be able to fund the problem?


So it doesn't matter who's sponsoring as long as you can state clearly why the person will sponsor such a huge amount and the kind of job that will also fuel that amount.

As long as you can state clearly why the politician is sponsoring you, you are good but it's better if your mum is your sponsor.

I applied for an emergency appointment through an agent. She sent me the confirmation page showing that my application has been submitted. After waiting for a while and not hearing from the US immigrations, I sent my agent a follow up message. She responded with an error message that my request cannot be processed at this time and that the administrator had been contacted. I’m a bit confused. If my application was already submitted, why would I be getting an error message now? I though error messages only showed up at the point of a new registration process. Or is my agent playing a fast one? Can someone please help me clarify the situation? Maybe I don’t understand.

Submission confirmation is not the same as been approved. The way I understand this, yes she submitted the application and got a confirmation for that. Afterwards, the application wasn't approved which means the EA wasn't granted.
